    My wife and I have been looking into building a non-electric washing machine, and this looks like a very doable small-scale model. Thank for very much for making this clear step-by-step tutorial that can help people like us!
    God be with you out there everybody! ✝️ :)

      You do know that's being turned by an electric drill right?

    • @Numba003
      @Numba003 Год назад +3

      @@billmellater Yes, but it wouldn't be too difficult to replace the drill with something mechanical (crank handle, pedal-powered pulley, etc.).

    • @Urhuuuur
      @Urhuuuur Год назад

      I think that the drill does need electricity though.

    • @Numba003
      @Numba003 Год назад +3

      @@Urhuuuur Yes, I am aware. However, it wouldn't be too difficult to replace the drill with a hand crank or pedal-driven driver.

    I live off grid I am going to make this in a barrel instead of a box and attach a treadle for washing, abd do the same for a chicken plucker. Thank you this is truly one of the best washing machines i have seen.

    I'd suggest the same snap ties on in inner container as on the outer box for hinges since plastic won't rust from the water. Ball bearings by the axis for less friction so less energy needed to spin. Also trash buckets instead of mop buckets since they are sold already perforated. Finally if you add a pedal to the connector it can stay drill-friendly and be hand/foot operated to use no electricity.

    Instead of using the drill machine we can use a normal electric motor which will consume less power as compared to drill machine...Or either we can use a cycle to operate it by giving the torque of the wheel to washing machine directly without consuming of electricity..!

    This is very good idea.....now while husband away I think I go and find his drill ....
    Would adding "Fins" inside the drum give extra agitation ? And maybe then you would need less cycle wash to save a bit of power? Hope to see your take on a spinner next.

    I hope all can appreciate the utter genius behind this hilarious invention that accomplishes little but a fair amount of extra work.
    This washer goes way beyond any thought of getting laundry clean. It was invented to reassure us all that nothing has to stop us from living the dream.
    No matter one’s standing, electricity or ingenuity can take a part of the process off your hands.
    Finally, it’s the optimistic childlike mentality that keeps us all laughin!

    innovative. congrats. best for poor. the grinder must have a closing unit to avoid water spill. if a fan motor is fitted it would be most best. I couldn't understand how the bucket sides were fitted with pvc pipes firmly. please improve the beautiful washer. the dirty water outlet pipe is small. it may be big size with wide mouth dia so that water will come down quickly. it is so beautiful. the crate box chosen is sturdy and more beauty. if Milton brand buckets are chosen, it would be more strong. God bless you.❤🥰👌👍👍🤝🤝🙏🏻🙏🏻

    You would need to attach the square wood blocks to the ends of the bucket BEFORE gluing them together by running the fastener from the inside of the bucket and not from the outside... Drywall screws inserted through the wood and THEN the bucket have the sharp end exposed INSIDE and they are catching/tearing up your clothes on every rotation... Eight little knives!

    Looks great, but it also looks like your agitation is too fast.The drum needs to be turning slowly enough so that the clothes "plop" back into the water just as they reach the apex of the spin. Otherwise, you're just swishing fabric through sudsy water and not really agitating the dirt out of it.

    I saw ppl putting videos up years ago on youtube making their own wash barrels....they just took a metal type barrel made simple legs for it and cut a door in it and added the type thing near the bottom(inside) like they use today connected to a outer handle . when you turned the handle it swished the clothes back and forth like a agitator to clean the clothes....and a bottom plug to drain it. It was simply made.....Just look at the ones manufactured today and copy them in a simpler fashion! .....Wish I could find one of those older videos!! There may be one still around!

      You can get the same end result with a separate spin dryer. Add clothes, water, soap. Run for a bit. Drain. Add clean water, run for a bit, drain. Add more clean water, run for a bit, drain. Transfer clothes to a spin dryer, run for a bit. Next up is building a dryer, or just hang on a rope in the sunlight for a bit.

      The holes are what get the clothes clean because they force the water to go through in all directions. This loosens the dirt and knocks it off the fabric. Better to save water by reusing the wash water as many times as you can before dumping it out. I suspect you can spin the water out of the clothes too by spinning it when there’s no water in the container. Do each load and set the clean clothes aside. Drain the water, put the clothes back inside and spin them to remove the dirty water. Then rinse and fill the container with clean water, rinse the clothes, drain the water and spin again. Voilà, ready for the clothesline!
