🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we are working in our master bedroom renovation of our 1988 Palm Harbor 14 x 70 single wide mobile home. We are rebuilding and repairing a large part of our exterior wall and window framing. This section of the wall had water damage causing the wall studs and joists to rot out. We are rebuilding the exterior wall completely. Let's go!

When it first came on, the stripes on the “feral”. child’s shirt made it look like he was duct taped to the wall. And if you haven’t watched Sam & Angela before, don’t be offended please, they lovingly refer to their boys as “feral children”. 💗💗💗Much love from SC
⚘That is way too funny! Lol lol lol! 😂
😂😂😂. It does 😂😂😂
🤣🤣
I was on RUclips and opened my channel to practice some songs before I record them for the channel. Wait, what is this? a Green Acre Homestead video, my plans will have to wait, they come first!
🤣😂After a hard day's work, husband and I sitting in back yard, wiggling our sore feet to try to make them stop hurting. He heard what I was watching and asked, "Do you ever stop thinking about work"? I told him yeah, when I'm asleep!🤣 Shared with him how very helpful it is to watch and learn new things! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time to teach us DIYers easier ways of doing hard jobs! Have an awesome weekend!
Thank you Stephen!!! That was so kind of you to provide that tool add, to Angela and Sam, with their remod!! 👍👍 Great job you two!!!
probably be a good idea to patch those holes up in the outer wall , either glue a little piece of new outer wall againt the inside or stick a few layers of aluminium tape over them for now
spray foam would seal them good
Duct tape? 😜
Or silicone caulk?
How about we just enjoy what they have decided to do!! Thanks for sharing guys Peace and Blessing’s 👩🌾
That hole was right where the wood was majorly rotting. I'm sure they'll deal with it but I wish they had mentioned it.
This would be a good time to add more outlets. They always seem to be just out of reach of cords. Two on each wall is so much better than running extension cords.
Excellent idea.
Yes, new code is every 6 feet here and at least 1 on any wall that is shorter than 6 feet.
In the early 70s as a teenager I actually worked in the original palm harbor manufacturing plant. It was actually called national homes back then and it was the only plant they had. It’s called palm harbor because the plant was located at the corner of US hwy. 19 and curlew road in palm harbor Florida.
And the feral child on the ladder!! Don’t you love it, start a project and it becomes the money pit. I love your perseverance. I’m so excited to see the finished project. Doug and Ashley are rebuilding theirs one piece at a time.
What peace of mind you have knowing that your house is going to be sound and safe when you're done 😃
You're so right! It's not easy to do, but afterwards... we can just enjoy it all.
Always so nice when you can replace bad board for good boards. Now, knowing your room is safer. Truly enjoy watching your videos.
You all please take care and be safe
Hi Sam,
Great job as always
Your neighbor in Tennessee.
Hopefully I'll run into you at the General store again.
Our 1986 single wide had extensive water damage from the kitchen sink to the corner of the trailer about 2 feet up the wall that I had to replace the floor, 2x4s and floor and wall plates. I used treated lumber on the floor plate to prevent future issues. I discovered the hole mice were using to acess the kitchen cabinets in the floor in the corner. Our refrigerator was falling through the floor in that corner. It's normal to find rot under a window like that. All our windows need replacing.
You are truly an inspiration for my husband and me. I put your videos In-N-Out tv on Friday nights now like classes for him🙈😬 we just bought an old mobile home too and we don’t know anything about construction or remodeling but sure we learn a lot with you guys. I love how details oriented you are when give information about simple stuffs like nails or simple materials is very important for people who doesn’t have a background or knowledge on this. I was trying to buy some soaps also but all my favorites are sold out😱😱
HI guys from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You've helped this mama fix her MH, and you've helped me become confident and encouraged me to be strong. Thank you for sharing your wonderful skills with me and my family ❤ Bless you guys
SAM AND ANGELA, ONCE AGAIN YOU HAVE DONE AN AWESOME JOB ON RESTORING YOUR WALL STUDS ON YOUR MAIN WALL WITHOUT REMOVING THE WINDOW. I LOVE WATCHING YOU TWO WORK TOGETHER RESTORING YOUR MOBILE HOME. GOD BLESS Y'ALL AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
I don't know if someone else said it, but please don't forget to fill that little hole in the siding to the bottom right of the window so water and bugs don't get in. Also, I would seal the top and bottom plates against the siding, even though you are eventually residing. That way bugs, lizards and mice can't get in and live in the insulation. You can use minimally expanding foam.
The wall next to the kitchen use cross bracing also to support the weight of the cabinets.
i was hoping you liked the bit holder and that it helped you in some way. it was a pleasure meeting your family and if you ever need anything just let me know
I imagine you both have MASSIVE satisfaction that the improvements you are doing now make the house MORE substantially sound .
That wall really needed to be replaced. New wall looks great. You can tell that kitchen wall needs to be redone to. You all have gotten so much done. Blessings!
You two will have a new home by the time you're done. I know it will still be a 1988 but in reality it will be new!
I always enjoy your renovation and rework videos because you do what suits you and your situation instead of fretting about doing it the 'typical' way!
Beautiful work guys :)
Thank you!! 🤗
Can't wait for your video!! I am watching both you guys * Doug and Ashley * and these guys!!! Way too much fun!
You guys are great and don't ever apologise for being you, most of us could benefit from being more like you guys.👍🙏🔥💜💪
I could watch you guys all day.. especially the behind the scenes bloopers :)
Wow, y’all are going to have an all new home before long! Plus the sturdiest mobile home ever! Great video
Wall and floors look great, the view of the property is beautiful. Your son is so sweet...
Love you guys! I always learn something and how to work on my 1973 mobile home 🏡 that you all have taught me. love you all and your precious children.
Yes, I'd like you to be in your house too, Sam. It's coming. I know it seems like forever. But you are getting those last few things done and your home will feel & look brand new. Especially with a new state, new town, and beautiful new views out your windows.
Good work guys 👍🏼 I’m so happy for your family to be all together creating these awesome memories ❤️👍🏼🇨🇦😉
Enjoy your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on.
You answered my question on headers, thanks. You did just move it and the windows didn’t break so I guess it’s strong enough.
ALWAYS enjoy your videos and appreciate you taking the time to share with us your journey on your homestead! GREAT job in reconstructing the front wall area! WOW! It will be so much stronger and give peace of mind! 👏👍💪😎❤
Boy you kids have taken on a big project. Im happy to follow along.
Again you folks didn't disappoint, job well done.
WOW that wall was GONE,the floors are nice an sturdy,GREAT JOB GUY'S!
It’s totally interesting to see how to beef up the walls and floors of a trailer with the right wood replacement don’t you wish they built trailer that way to begin with👍 I remember as a kid growing up and living in one due to my Dad being in the service and you moving it to your new property of what our move was from Nebraska to Ohio then buying a new one that was a up grade to a two bedroom 😂. Keep up with the improvements I will be watching 👋
It's not the matter of using the "right" wood. It's keeping it from water damage to begin with. They use smaller framing to keep it light weight. Unfortunately, putting a stick built house that's "built better" on a mobile home frame would make them too heavy to transport
@@Og-Judy They are now built with 2x6 walls. That is code since 1990. They should have put headers throughout over the windows and doors for roof support
Hello from Michigan wow you guys are doing awesome redoing that trailer.
Mobile homes have their place and have been a shelter for millions, but it is crazy how thin those walls are. 😳
Costly price for a thin walled home...
😂😂😅
Indians lived in tents.
Funny how a super well-built home with super walls can crumble like matchsticks in a tornado eh?! All relative
Awesome job. Angela come a long way, in how she uses the power tools. It's coming along.
Great idea to take care of the laundry room while the washer and dryer are out. Project creep smart.
Stumbled across your channel and I have to say,........ WELL DONE on your mobile home repairs. Most people say that "trailers" are pointless to repair but when in reality they are pretty much no different than a regular house,....if fact I think that mobile homes are easier to repair.
Good afternoon Sam and Angela ( with Elijah in the background )
There seems to ALWAYS be "project creep" while renovating. Perfect opportunity. You must go to bed at night after something like this with your minds just swirling with what's to do next. I think you're doing a great job and really enjoy watching the progress.
Looks great! Isn't it nice to see that fresh new wood after pulling out the bad! Love the project creep into the laundry room too! Love seeing the progress! You guys are awesome! Everyonone needs a "master of cheez its". 😁
The new wood looks super great! :) We're excited about the project creep. It will be nice to get it done done!
I’m in the middle of a complete top to bottom double wide myself right now, and I have a few spots that are rotted and I was so worried about tackling that project. Then out of nowhere RUclips suggested this video on my home page.
I seriously can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you making this video. I feel ten million times better about getting it done now!!
The work is looking fantastic guys. I think most of us hate floor work but when it is completed it will look awesome.
Hey, you've got to get creative to work on these older mobile homes. Trust me. I've learned so much from you guys and I appreciate it very much!
I wish I had y’all energy my knees hurt every day I’m getting replacement in both please take care of your and don’t over do it everything looking good as I say I love watching redo on ppl traitors can’t wait for another videos from y’all hugs and prayers tyfs
I love your videos. We purchased a mobile home manufactured 1985 three years ago and it has been one project after another to update and renovate it to our home. Best of luck with yours
Watching you after work 🤨 puts the smile back on my face 😊
We have to do a bathroom floor - AGAIN! I'm using treated lumber and marine grade plywood for subfloor and joists because I do not ever want to do this again. Using marine grade plywood is unconventional in a home at best, but if you treat it with the correct varnish, it will last forever. I have worked with this type of plywood before, and cared for correctly you never have rot no matter how damp it gets under the home. Water here in the South is forever present, and destructive to exterior grade plywood no matter how you treat it. I live far above the water table, it would take Noah's flood to bring water 550' up to my hill, but moisture is always present year round. I hope this repair will outlast me by 20+ years!
You have done well with your remodeling, it is what I will do to my workshop to repair a water damaged wall in the former living room of my 14' by 70' mobile home/workshop. I repair small engines, old tube radios, and other Ham Gear, plus some gunsmithing I do for myself. Many hobbies, but small engine repair pays for the other stuff. Good Luck!
I would recommend attaching a steel plate on the room facing edge of the studs, where the holes were drilled for electrical wire. This discourages someone from placing a screw into the electric wire after the wall is finished.
Thank you always for sharing I do really appreciate it a lot take care ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️
The loving work you're doing on you house is priceless once it's done and you'll be resting well 🙂👍❣️ great job and dedication 🧡
What I find amazing is on a I see this a lot in mini homes in the states is that on the outside of the minihome it’s just the aluminum next to the insulation no sheathing or vapour barrier. Mini homes in Canada they have quarter inch chip board or plywood on the walls then the siding with housewrap. With replacing all your walls and flooring and then that metal siding are you not worried about water getting behind the metal siding and getting insulation wet again from screw holes screws popping out etc.
I love watching your videos yall are giving me hope on doing a lot of remodeling myself without paying someone to do it my mobile home is a 1979 and needs a lot done
Awesome. When you put the screws in outside in the siding how do you keep rain from leaking in through the screw holes.
Sam & Angela, I am 😫 sick but not about Your work !! 😅😜 Great job as Always!! Lovely view from that bdrm. Window & lovely sunset as well. GOD BLESS ! See ya Soon I Pray. Cancer surgery on Tues, prayer much appreciated!!
You two are very good at remodeling. 👍🏻 I love seeing things fixed up to avoid buying new.
Great job guys!, don't forget to seal that big hole in the metal siding, next to the bottom of the sole plate next to the second stud you replaced to keep out rocky the squirrel or other furry critters !!
This is excellent floor and wall restoration, thanks for sharing.
I FEEL GOOD for the both of you❣️☺️ Great job‼️ 👍🏻 Much admiration for your SKILLS‼️ Your current living arrangements will end soon and I KNOW YOU CAN’T WAIT to get back into your family home… the home you have worked so hard to lovingly remodel and maintain‼️ God’s continued Blessings… 🙏🙏🙏 Love from GA❣️🥰
Hello wonderful people,
Loving how your home is coming together. Remember, hard work always pays off😅. Looking forward to your next video.
I look forward to your videos all the time. I can’t wait to see the day you are able to replace the outside. I see all the holes for water to get in. Sending you guys all the positive vibes. You are all doing such a great job.
Hopefully not too far away. Until then we’ve sealed them up tight
Maybe a squirt of foam in there for now??
I love you two. Such a great relationship - and supurb carpentry skills, too
Looking good 👍. Doing repairs around my own place I have used pocket holes "Kreg" for toenailing just an idea not meant as criticism
We'll done Sam and Angela. God bless you and your children.
I hope you take as much satisfaction from bringing your home back to life as I get from watching you. Sometimes it is hard to only see the problem and the cost but I am seeing two people reusing and repressing and bringing back to life. Wishing you the least amount of frustration and the most amount of satisfaction. Blessings
Not repressing, repurposing. Hate autocorrect.
Oooooh, a swimming pool! Thanks guys. Nice progress.
Oh yeah!! We got the boys a little one for the heat. Already in the 80s here! 🥵
Well done guys!!! WOW what a view!
Great job and great music too❣️🤩. Wish I could hire you!
Angela does good work. God bless
We are working on outside of bed room wall . So glad we can use this episode as reference.
Took a little longer doing piece by piece, but came out awesome. Great job
I really enjoy the way y'all work together.C ya next time
You guys rock on the remodel and thanks for sharing about the magnetic drill drive sleeve "thingy"- we need a few in our arsenal!
This best thing about this for your guys, it gives you content!
Just went to check on my rental mobile home and discovered their AC being in the window rotted out the dining room floor. I'll be doing the same floor job soon.
You did a great job.
Wow... glad it didn't come apart when they were moving it!! Great job guys.
Great work guys 👍God Bless Family 👪
Hi. Sam and Angela you are awesome. Thank you. Great video's. Sincerely, J. Stenglein
I love that you get the job done even if others were criticize your methods. It works and took less time. It's safer and healthier in the end of the day. Like you said "It my story and I'm sticking to it" 😊
Good to watch a clean show on RUclips! Good work guys stay kid friendly, so few are these days
Goodness, you’re absolutely right!! Way too many are vulgar and even more fall into this pit of objectifying the wife or woman just for clicks. We will never!!
@@sam-and-angela Amen
It looks great! Laundry room or wall you must do these to. love to seeing the progess. You do both great work.
Don't you just love that they didn't put plywood under the metal siding. We had a 1988 mh also and did some reno and was shocked when we opened up a wall and no wood . not even around the front bay windows.
Love your videos and how well you 2 work together. Keep up the renos.
I had one years ago, (Early 90s) that had vinyl siding, BUT 2x6" walls and 1/2" OSB sheeting over the entire home. BUT Cost a lot more, and weighed a LOT more, and had to have 2 more axles for the weight. IT had Drywall also inside and shingles on roof.
Real people doing real things...you are fast becoming one of my favorite watch on You Tube. Keep up the great job.
You guys are working a miracle with your bedroom. It’s going to be so awesome. I’m excited to see the next video.
I was thinking a ( Thank You ) is in order for some of the things I've leaned and am applying to my current shed project.
Love to see your progress!!!
Hello Sam and Angela love your channel I love what you are doing to your Old trail making something old new again. On a budget have a bless day and prayers for your family
You guys are doing a wonderful job I really enjoy watching your videos can't wait to see the next one
How satisfying that must feel to be addressing those issues once and for all.
I was wondering if you thought about painting your out side walls. Just to brighten it up. Untill up save enough to pay for new siding.
All looks great!
Oh goodness it is looking so much better, you are really good at doing these fixes, and fixing a mobile home can always be a challenge. And that new part for your drill is amazing cause those are some really long screws. Yay that all that damaged wood is gone now and brand new wood is there, also the new wood on the floor to fix that section of the floor is nice. I am so excited to see all of your new videos and the progress you are making, I am looking forward to seeing your next video. Have a great weekend sending love and hugs, bye for now.🥰💜
Great video. You both have an amazing knowledge of what to do in you work. Hope you been thinking about adding any extra lighting or sockets before you put up the walls
Nice accomplishment! Still praying for you and your family, and always enjoy your choices of music.
Another successful day!😊
I love comin' along "for the ride"! You are doing a great job!
I so love you guys! Blessings from Oregon.
