    Thank you I gained a lot from this info. My Mom lived to 80. She was bent over & her spine (height) was shrinking. Then she fell & broke her hip and lived in a nursing home after that. I went to the nursing home every evening after work to see her. I would walk in & she would raise her arms & say "my baby" & we would hug & I would pull back & she would say "pretty eyes" & I would say "just like yours". She never had Alzheimer's or dementia, she was always sharp as a tack. In the middle of the night she apparently forgot about her hip that never mended because of her diabetes, she got out of bed & fell & the nurses found her in a comma & shipped her to the hospital & called me. I have an opinion that people in a comma know what's happening from her as well. I was holding her hand & I said "don't be scared Momma I am right here & Todd is waiting for you there." And she squeezed my hand. It was just quiet & peaceful when she took her last breath. Thus I have gone through a lot with my Mom & you are the only person who ever explained this much to me. There was one surgeon to this day what he said floored me. He said he could do a hip replacement on my Mom but he had a 30% success rate. Which equated to 70% failure rate in my mind & it would have been over my dead body that he would have touched my Mom. Why would a surgeon say something like that? Anyway thanks a million for the education I greatly appreciate you.

      The realities of osteoporotic features are shocking, and most women know nothing about them. I am so sorry you had to learn about them by watching your mom suffer.
      Please keep watching this unit on osteoporosis. I will ensure that you avoid all the pitfalls.

      This is the case for the vast majority of women ...which is why so many of them end up in nursing homes, permanently crippled from osteoporotic fractures.

    And yet another text to my mom praising this video- I learned a lot with this one! Now I know why the pelvis, hip, spine and wrist breaks more often than the rest of your other bones. I did not even learn that in physiology class or massage therapy class. Who knew?!

    My last 2 DEXAs were at a different hospital than the first 2. The new hospital does not measure the wrist, I don't know if they just did away with it or that hospital doesn't do it. But my spine is the most improved. The numbers are normal.
    Even the doctor was shocked. My left side where the metal was is worse on my hips while the right side numbers are improved greatly. Did the WHO change the guidelines for measuring wrists? Being locked in and it even snowed the other day is not good for my bones. There is no room to walk. Hoping it warms up soon.
    Thank you for this education!

      Well, knowing you, Pinky, you are the one who made the difference and improved your bone density. But the key is to use the same machine every time, Otherwise, you do not get an accurate assessment.

    Thanks for pointing out the different types of bone we all have since its not something most people think about, this education has impacted my puppy training because this dog.is so incredibly strong at just 4mo of.age I'm focused on teaching her not to pull and possibly cause.me to fall on ice mud.whatever because of this education I'm more strict about this tiny bundle of fuzz and muscle not pulling than I would be unaware of potential bone loss. She's learning well as am I as she gets bigger and I'm not getting any younger Knowing this stuff is so appreciated as we enjoy many safe rambunctious walks over the next many years. I hope to inform other women with big strong dogs and little one's too about why they should use caution and pit bulls.are very common in my area anything to raise awareness and allow for prevention It helps that I get asked why I do certain things like prioritizing/avoiding certain foods or why I manage activities as I do and the unexpected answers I give like protecting brain heart and bones isn't just for old people and everyone should know this

    I have a doctors appointment with a menopause doctor on June 3rd. What do you suggestion the questions to ask her?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 года назад +5

      There is no way I can help you with this in a comment box. It is, however one of the things I spend a lot of time schooling you on in a consultation. You should really postpone your appointment with her until after you've had a consultation with me. The difference will be huge, and I will prevent you from burning a bridge.
      Believe me, you do NOT know how to go about this in the right way without my tutelage. There's no way you could because the nuances of the medical industry are not something you could possibly know. But, in a consultation, I will tell you everything you need to know.
      I will make sure you know precisely the questions that will make the most difference to YOU.
      Please schedule a consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME

    Barbie, maybe this question is more for a consultation, and I know it's not on this topic, but I'm all caught up. What do you think of estrogen pellets? Do you think those are ok? Thanks so much!!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 года назад

      Rebekah,
      Nothing is about what I think. It's about what YOUR BODY thinks. Even your own brain's opinion is not as important as your body's.
      The most common brand of pellets being pushed these days is Bio-TE pellets. Bio-te is "Bioidentical Testosterone & Estrogen." They are pellets that are promoted and inserted by Alternative providers. The hormones are compounded, which means they are not tested or regulated by the FDA.
      The good thing about BioTE is that it's long-term, lasting 4 - 6 months. That's good if you love them.
      The bad thing about Bio-TE is that it's long-term, lasting 4 - 6 months. That's bad if you hate them.
      The testosterone is the component that most women hate. Testosterone is the male hormone. It causes acne, whiskers, male-pattern balding, weight gain, and aggression.

    I am taking prolia as treatment for Osteoporosis compresion factures in T6 and T7 yet I can only take prolia for 5 yrs to avoid fracture in a thigh bone?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 года назад +1

      I'll get to all the medications down the line of videos. There are various time limits on different osteoporosis medications. But you can switch from one to another to get the benefits of all of them. No time limit exists on treatment in general.

    Nice use of Lego. They're fun to play with even as an adult. However, they hurt like hell when you step on it.

    How about the ankles? Are those trabecular bones? I met a woman the other day that had broken both ankles just by standing up from the couch. She was 57!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 месяцев назад +1

      The ankles are like the wrists. they are trabecular bone. However, wrist fracture from osteoporosis is much more common than ankle fracture. Both are an alert to the probability of osteoporosis.

    I am old enough to remember when the medical system operated very differently from how it is now. Doctors were Boss. They made the treatment decisions, and the insurance companies obeyed. Then came the DRGs in 1983. They changed everything! First Medicare, then all insurance companies, started pushing the doctors around. Then Managed Care came and made everything even worse. Medicine used to be sacred, but now it is just another moneymaking industry. I am so disillusioned. Is there any hope that things will ever get better?
