The Airwerx unit looks like an exact Alorair clone.

A lot of these companies make very similar looking products if not the same product and just rebadge them.

What's funnier is that Baseaire has the exact same HQ address as does Alorair.

There are customer complaints that Aprilaire will not honor their warranty unless the unit is installed by a professional. Is this true. I wouldn’t buy if so.

Not true in regards to customers purchasing from our DIY Store, diy.crawlspaceninja.com/, please see our response to your comment above. We cannot say how well people will be treated if they purchase from other vendors or individuals, not sure how those individuals or vendors handle customer service issues. Aprilaire has one of the best warranties in the industry and we know how to make sure our customers are taken care of.

Aprilaire told my friend they wouldn’t honor the warranty because it wasn’t installed by a professional. They wouldn’t even look at it.

We have a great relationship with Aprilaire and have been able to get our customers taken care of when there has been issues regarding service. Not that we have had that many. I guess it comes down to where you purchase the dehumidifier. Just like in retail, many stores sell the same products but some handle customer service way better than others. We have not had any problems getting our customers taken care of when needed. Thanks for the comment.

@@CrawlSpaceNinja Late to this thread of comments, sorry. From what I have been told by my local encapsulator company, Aprilaire only give the 5-year warranty if it is professionally installed, meaning the homeowner has to pay an HVAC or plumbing or encapsulating professional to install it, on top of the cost of the unit. So a ~$1300 Aprilaire unit would cost more like $1800 with the installation fee from many professionals.

I decided to try the Airwerx 35P. Its 300watts is more efficient than most. It's pulled 95% down to 45% in a 625sqft x 3' crawl in about 10 days. Built-in auto pump & 25' Cat5-connected remote lets me monitor & adjust the unit from living space. $660 seemed worth trying. Amazing what some barrier, tape & a dehumidifier can do! Anyone have experience fogging with Concrobium? It needs the joists & subfloor to be dried out before applying, so I'm about to see how that does. Fogging with 17% hydrogen peroxide was great to clear the air & blast off the wood rot mold (not as dramatic as a soda blast, but still impressive). I hope the 3 salts in the Concrobium work as well as some folks say...
