    Could you update us after one year of setting up the unit? I would like to know the lowest level of relative humidity that the unit was able to achieve.

    I think you’ve done a great job with your videos showing the installation of the dehumidifier. I’ve watched all of your videos on the ERV and dehumidifier. I live in Southern, Louisiana and also have a spray foam insulation. 3200 ft.², 4 tons on the main floor and 2 tons on the second floor. I installed 120 quart dehumidifier for the downstairs but didn’t maintain 50% humidity. I have since installed a second 120 quart dehumidifier for the second floor. So far the humidity is staying under 50%. Of course, I still need to wait for the real summer heat and humidity. I am also investigating something called the “Stack Affect”. I am hoping this information will provide better guidance for proper installation of my dehumidifiers.
    Are use the Honeywell vision, pro 8000 thermostat for controlling my air conditioning and de humidification. This thermostat allows me to use the fan in the HVAC or just the fan in the dehumidifier. please share any updates on how the de humidification is going in your home so far.

    Even with a backdraft damper, is it a problem to install the dehumidifier supply into your main duct supply when the blower turns on since the blower is over 1000 CFM and the dehumidifier is 200 CFM and the air flow is in opposite directions?

    Thanks for the videos! I installed an e100 to my Goodman hvac unit. We noticed though that it constantly runs making our hvac fan run. Does yours do the same or will it turn off? We currently have it set at 55% and never have gone down that low so wonder if we should raise our %.

    Hey Man, just came across your page, great videos!
    Any update on the power bill I just acquired a E080 and Im debating on installing it because of the power bill, because my house is about 56% Humidity the majority of the time. Don’t know if it will bring it lower and cut the bill smaller or Im better off just lowering the temp on the units. 🤷🏻‍♂️😀

      This dehumidifier has worked very well for lowering the humidity in our house. It draws very little power so it doesn’t cost a lot to operate. It does not cause the HVAC units to run less. Of course, I have some garbage HVAC units that were poorly installed. They are very inefficient and seem to run all the time.

    Good video - some interesting stuff. When you said you wired in the dehumidifier to your blower I assumed you meant that when the hvac system turned on the blower that the humidifier would turn on, but I realized you actually meant the opposite. When the dehumidifier turns on you are then activating the hvac blower to actively circulate the dehumidified air. Cool. I wonder if the configuration I first described would work as well? Just curious. Also, as I understand it, you dont have a humidistat (one at controls the dehumidifier) anywhere else in the house right? You simply rely on the one that is on the unit itself, in the attic. Meaning, if there is humidity in the attic you are assuming that the rest of the house needs dehumidification is that right?

      The way that I have the dehumidifier wired into the HVAC blower works well for us because I need the dehumidifier to run everyday. We have high humidity in Georgia, even in the winter time. Sometimes, the heat or a/c won't turn on for a couple days, or maybe a week, depending on the time of year. My power bill was $50 cheaper this month because we had some warmer temps over the last month and the heat didn't run very much. Even though we didn't need the heat, we did need the dehumidifier most days because of the high humidity. If you live in an area with high humidity I recommend that your dehumidifier be able to run when your HVAC is not running so you can potentially save money.
      When your A/C is running, you probably won't need the dehumidifier as much because the air conditioning will dehumidify the air. That is another reason i don't want my dehumidifier being controlled by the HVAC unit. It may be running unnecessarily.
      I do not have a humidistat or any other controllers for this dehumidifier. It turns on once per hour and runs for 3 minutes to test the humidity in the air. It pulls air from the house and tests it. If the humidity is above the set point i have it at, the dehumidifier will stay running until it lowers the humidity. It shouldn't really be testing the air from the attic since it is pulling air from the house.

    Did you tie the dehumidifier into both of your HVAC units or just one? I am going similar humidity issues as you. Back in 2022 I found mold growth in my duct boots where the vents connect at throughout my entire house. I found out we were over sized with the AC's. I replaced all duct work and new units correctly sized based of Manual J calculations. However I am still getting high humidity (60 to 70). I am looking to install two fresh air exchangers first before looking into the whole home dehumidification. I watched your video on your ERV and how you regret doing it. Would you recommend the fresh air exchangers instead? I also noticed my attic is very humid. I used a thermal camera to look for leaks in the foam and found a few but would these small leaks cause such high humidity in the attic? Im thinking i will DIY some foam to cover these spots. I put a stand alone dehumidifier in the attic for the time being and went from 85% to 55% humidity in the attic. The rooms are round 60% humidity level with the stand alone units working, if i turn them off it will creek up to 70%. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

      My dehumidifier is only tied into my main floor hvac. If I could afford a second dehumidifier I would install it on the upstairs hvac. For now, the house balances out somewhat but the upstairs humidity is higher than the main floor.
      Instead of an ERV I should’ve installed a fresh air vent or fresh air return on each of my hvac units. Every time the hvac units run they would pull in fresh air from outside. You can set the blower or fan to run at a low speed when the a/c or heat isn’t needed so it would still bring in fresh air.

      Small leaks in the attic are not causing high humidity. If you live in a humid area like I do, your house is going to have high humidity whether you have spray foam or not. I think the high humidity is a lot less noticeable in a house that doesn’t have spray foam because the house can breathe. I think the spray foam makes the humidity worse because the house can’t breathe. Then you get problems like mold and poor air quality.

    What other unit do I see at 5:44 make? I am looking into whole home systems as my house is way to humid for my family’s likings. Right now it’s 75 degrees with windows open and 45% RH vs when central air is on and 63% RH.

      I think you are talking about my Honeywell ERV. I’ve made a lot of videos about it. It will not help with humidity. It only helps with ventilation.

    I really need something like this but for the inside of my house for a smaller area. I don't like the all plastic crap ones that are on the market for inside of the home. I'm renting; I do not have the ability to put it in a crawl space. I need it in the bedroom. Especially for the winter. I've been searching and searching I just don't want to buy the $200 crap ones that almost always fail. I hope someone has an idea and they could give me a suggestion?!

    What were your humidity ranges before and after the dehumidifier install?

      Before installing a dehumidifier we were in the 60s and low 70s. Now that we have a dehumidifier we stay around 50%.

      @@BrantleyBlended our house is closed cell foamed. We just got our hvac installed. We’re living in our garage based RV while we finish the house interior. AC doesn’t run much to hold below 70 degrees and we’re seeing humidity in the 45-55% range. Hopefully it doesn’t change much once we move into the house 🤞.

      @@BrantleyBlended it’s an exposed ducted HVAC with a fresh air intake into the air return that opens for CO2 PPM > 500.
