Sally can't homeschool because it isn't safe for Percy - and also because they are poor. They live in NYC and Gabe doesn't work. Even without the danger to Percy, Sally couldn't quit her job to stay home with him. And we all know Gabe isn't going to help out lol
I wanted to point that out because I think it's a thing a lot of families can relate to. A lot of parents want to spend more time with their children but it isn't financially possible

I also like the changes in the Crusty scene. What he said to Percy about it being hard to fit in, and about how the gods twist them into what they want them to be like also fits well with the flashback story going on with Percy, Sally, and Poseidon. They made the originally side quest-y Crusty scene feel very cohesive to the overall tone/message of the episode

I hear you on Hades, even though I personally liked what they did with him. I got the feeling show Hades has the potential to be threatening but chose to be more cordial because he wanted to make the deal with Percy. I'm also the kind of person who likes it when the audiences expectations are subverted. They go in expecting him to be the be the Big Bad Villain of the story and then he's just like "yeaaaah I didn't steal the bolt, I don't like to get involved in drama 😒" lol
I also wonder if making Hades more personable was a choice to help show-only viewers clue in to the fact that the menacing voice speaking to Percy in his dreams was Not This Dude before the Kronos reveal. You know what I mean?

I think the school was reluctant to take Percy in specifically because his "imagination" lead him to the roof. They are likely scared that Percy will do something like that again and the school will end up being liable for some sort of serious injury and/or his death. It sucks but it feels pretty realistic. No one wants a lawsuit lmao

Oh, man- schools do not like kids who are different or particularly imaginative. My oldest was expelled from school because a staff member witnessed her talking to her plushie seal that she had brought that day. No, she didn’t say anything remotely bad or threatening or anything, just an autistic kid in Special Services who had no friends to talk to instead. Sorry for the rant, that scene triggered this memory! 😆😖

@@falsenostalgia-shannon No need to apologize! It really is an unfortunately common experience for neurodivergent children and their parents. I'm sorry your child was expelled, that makes no sense to me 😔😔
I had imaginary friends until I was maybe like 9 years old and my kindergarten teacher threatened my mom to hold me back for an extra year before school because I was "too childish". My mom thankfully said no thanks and I thrived in school

Defintely. I'm sure a lot of neurodivergent kids or parents with neurodivergent kids that can relate to the flashback.
