- US sharemarkets ended little changed on Friday after Wall Street’s massive US$5.5 trillion expiration of options left stock traders cautious. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes closed marginally lower, weighed down by a 3.2% decline in Nvidia shares, which dragged down the technology sector. Rival semiconductor stocks Qualcomm, Broadcom and Micron Technology were all down between 1.4% and 4.4%. McDonald’s shares rose 2.2%, boosting the Dow Jones index, after broker UBS said the restaurant chain is well positioned to improve its sales trajectory in the back half of the year following the launch of its US$5 meal deal.
