Fantastic interview, really looking forward to reading it. And loved her description of 'The Final Strife' as "a chosen one story gone wrong" too.

Can’t wait to read this one, such hype surrounding it with a gorgeous cover too. Especially after hearing how it’s similar to Skyrim!

Interesting interview. I'm gonna check out the book.
However I read The Final Strife last year, and it was one of the worst books I've ever read. I don't even know how it got published. Bad writing (lots of telling and not showing), terrible editing, shallow world building, repetitive to tedious and patronising exposition, jarringly inconsistent tone, complete failure to understand the power dynamics it was meant to be critiquing. It read like a first draft by someone who's never written before and has never attempted to research the periods of power structures it's supposedly based on.
The point of this is, if someone is praising such an objectively bad book, then I question their writing skills and knowledge or their motives.

Ah that is a shame you didn’t like The Final Strife, we have a lot of fans within the community who love it! Hopefully Godkiller will be more your style.

@@fantasyfellowship There are objective and subjective criticisms. I found The Final Strife objectively bad from a writing and editing perspective, like a first draft the author didn't even bother to reread themselves, let alone an editor. Its tone was also jarring, going from very dark and Adult to very Young Adult which was very out of touch with the darkness and self defeating to the very serious themes the author claimed to be exploring.
I don't understand how some books even get published based on major objective flaws, unless readers wanted to like it to the point of ignoring reality.
I wanted it to be good too, and yes, I was disappointed. I had high hopes based off reviews and because of it's unique world building premise, and the mature and dark themes the author claimed went into it, and I found it very long for what it was. Those are my more subjective criticisms.
Still, Godkiller seems fascinating and based on this interview and other things I've read about it I'm (cautiously) optimistic. Thanks again for this insightful interview!
