Was using an edit in the .INI file to make this happen before, but it caused some major clipping/animation glitches. So glad someone finally made this!
So, will you be using the equipment mod? In my opinion Richard would look so much more badass carrying his equipment on him, it'll also show how much hes grown over the Chapters.
***** I think a good idea for the "realistic unequip" option could be to rather than have the player throw the weapon away, they just have to place it back where it was before taking out the next weapon, like unsheathe and then sheathe the sword before taking the bow out.
Hi Gopher, The Equipping Overhaul mod remembers favourite status on dropped weapons now. And I have a work around for keeping the hot key's:- SkyUi remember its favorited groups even if the favorited weapon is dropped. So in SkyUi settings, map the new favourite groups hot keys to the number keys then assign your different weapons to each SkyUi group.
You should cover the Bosmer Armor Pack on nexus it looks very cool and interest, and maybe show some more player homes. I'd love to see more. Awesome vids!
I feel bad advertising my mods on any of your videos, so I will just tell you to keep up the good job mate, and thank you for what you do for this community!
CI have used quite a lot of your mods in my playthroughs in Skyrim I think. Mounted casting and the Serena one spring to mind. Was there also an absorb magic by blocking mod too?
*EDIT:* This mod seems to have fixed the issue I have mentioned here. So no worries for me anymore. I hate that weapons are deleted from the favourites list when they are dropped. This was one of the most annoying moments for me when fighting higher level Draugr who would disarm me. I think this mod needs an additional option that forces "slow" weapon changes as compromise, meaning that your character outs away weapon one before drawing weapon two. Needs more time, but you don't have to fix your list all the time.
Good review of the Equipping Overhaul mod. I wonder if it allows the custom enchants on your weapons to continue functioning. Similar mods in the past have been reported to prevent players from using custom enchantments on their weapon/armor mods after they gear up.
Please Gopher will you speak about the new Memory Patch that is out made bei Sheson. I heard its the "holy grail" of CTD/ILS fixes. Please approve us that its true and make a nice video as you always do :)
It's worth taking a look at this mod now, it looks like the mod maker has addressed the issues with it, allowing an easy and guaranteed way to pick up the dropped weapons that protects against the disarm bug, and automatically readds it to your favorites list.
I'd rather the mod just make my character put the current weapon away, then pull out the chosen weapon instead of flinging them to their potential doom. It would keep the combat decision due to the switch speed, but make it so I don't loose my daggers off a cliff when a backstab goes tits up.
Looks like it would work very well with Requiem. In Requiem bows break if hit by an enemy in melee. Even if you're putting it away the bow can break. This mod looks like it would nigh-instantaneously drop the bow before it could be broken.
Nice mod. I think your last suggestion about having a skill that 'searches' for all the recently dropped items and retrieves them for you, was a GREAT idea. If the mod author could implement that, i think it would make this mod more viable to the masses. :) Still a nice mod.
Another great review, just thinking the "Search for you weapons part" would be useful if you use daggers because they are often hard to find and can be obstructed by several bodies.
Hi Goph! Just wanted to let you know that Equipping Overhaul just got updated. It now remembers favorites and lets you search for dropped weapons with a power just like you suggested.
Hey Gopher, To fix the Hot Key issue when using the unequip realism option of this mod you should probably try using "More Hot Keys Please." The "More Hot Keys Please" hard codes (I don't know if that is the correct term) items, spells, etc. regardless of if they are later still in your inventory or not. You actually used this mod for a bit in your Skyrim playthrough with Steve during your initial Let's Play of Dawnguard. Since then though the mod has added an mcm menu system to more easily allow you to set up hot keys. I actually use this myself and can tell that this mod is quite useful. One other thing to note is that with this mod your can quickly changed equiped spells and powers even while in werewolf or vampire lord form, something you can't do with the Vanilla or even Skyui hotkey system. I'm am also using this mod with Undeath (a mod that let's you turn into a lich) and it also works with the Lich form and in my opinion making the darn form playable and a worth while alternative to one's normal form. I would really recommend taking another look at this mod if you intend on using the Realistic unequip option here.
From what I have seen in the Creation Kit, when a weapon, or any entity for that matter, falls into the "abyss" it will magically appear at either the entrance to the "cell" (Dungeon, Inn etc.) or to where the last prop was placed in said cell, before it is saved and the mod maker types "coc (cell name)" to teleport to the cell! This is from my experience, but I could be wrong.
if anyone has issues running this mod, there is also a mod called 'all geared up' www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40953/? which does a very similar thing but does not have the weapon or torch dropping features. same issues with crossbows applies here though. beast form changing is fixed in both and NPCs should be fixed in both. happy gaming
For anyone interested, the mod author released an update recently that fixed many of the problems Gopher had with this. Hey Gopher, it's been awhile since you've done an Encore vid, maybe one is called for here to showcase the new update? It even fixes having to refavorite items when you pick them back up (which I thought would be impossible)
This is great, I've been using the geared up command in the ini file but it is so bug it's annoying to use, you have to unequip and then equip the weapon you want to change to, if you just equiped another weapon right away it would bug and both the previous and the current would appear in your hands. This mod is great.
"Completed Features for Next Update - Hotkey to toggle between Geared Up or not. This will allow you to waltz into a town not looking like you plan to kill everything, but not break immersion (currently you have to go into the MCM menu to toggle) - Hotkey to drop torches (will favor unequipped torches) - Immersively remembering where your weapons that were auto dropped are. You can only remember so many though before you begin to forget! - Fixed all those misc bugs (see Known Bugs in description) Features I'm Diligently Working On - Remember favorites of dropped weapons, so you don't have to go back and re-favorite them - Fix crossbow-bow hotkey bug - Fix SkyUI loadout (F1, F2, F3...) issue Planned Features for a Future Update - Support for More Hotkeys mod - Proper armor equipping (think: Armor Animations with realistic animations for each type of equipment) - Optional dropped lit torch fire spread - Auto-unequip arrows (will have arrows equipped when bow is in favorites or equipped, auto-unequips otherwise) AND wait for it... - Shields on back - Staves on back" Good, good.
geared up sounds cool but I favorite a lot of stuff for different playstyles, like one with blacksmith clothes, alxhemist, shield etc. dont ALWAYS want everything showing. sometimes just a bitmore
What this mod really need is to change the animation, so that when you change your weapon, it will first seath the weapon and just then draw the next one. If it does that automatically every time you change your weapon it would be very nice.
tcl (toggle clip) is all that's needed to retrieve stuff lost through walls/floors. I would think if the Fav menu can't be edited that way, it may be possible to set up an alternate menu that can hold persistent values and can have hotkeys.
Hey Gopher, I hope your comment regarding the next episode was hinting at Skyrim Memory Patch 3.0. It seems to be the next evolution of fixing the Skyrim engine, people have reported stable ugrids of 19 for testing (with very low fps though) and random crashes with large modded setups gone :)
gopher need your help!! please make a full video on the new shesons memory patch... cant figure out on how to properly instal it on my own, it is very tech heavy..i allways followed your instructions! and this new memory patch supposed to be sumthing INCREDIBLE
Finally caught up with the Mod Sanctuary :D Oh! This is interesting :D I think that could be awesome with my assassin and thief :3 Maybe even for my Warrior :D
Hey Gopher how about you make a forum or a website where you have an updated list with your tutorials, explanations, text, transcripts of your videos, must-have mods, favorite mods, current mods, etc. It could really simplify the job of many gamers to get their games easier to work with. Also, with a forum you could interact with your fans and other modders, and also provide useful tips. It's easier to communicate via a forum than Google+ (I'm sure you know about that). Anyways, I just figured that since your RUclips page is so big, with so many videos, and there are so many mods and so much stuff to watch, maybe a having a much more organized website of your own would be easier for people who want to get into this. =)
I think it would be a good idea if the modder added an option to the mod, where when you choose a weapon on your favourites, the player automatically sheaths the weapon and takes out the weapon you have chosen.
yeah I hate it intensely when those Draugr use the Disarm shout and make you drop your weapon, the shout is more of an inconvenience shout cos you have to re-fave and re-hotkey your weapon.
A better feature instead of dropping the weapon would be a timer say 5-10 seconds you cant use the weapon you fast swapped from - Bow to sword and Shield bow than becomes unusable for 10 seconds. This way we dont hvae to find the weapon and there's no possibility of it falling through a floor or something.
hi gopher! great video, great mod! thanks. Now, could you please, please cover the Dual Sheath Redux mod, and help us in how to install it? it fits perfectly with Equipping Overhaul, but is too complex to get it working well to begginers!
I think a great video to watch (but tedious for you to do) would be how you start a new play through. Basically all the steps you go through before you start. i.e installing the mods, cleaning, bash patching etc..
Hello Gopher. You should check out a mod called More Hotkeys Please. It let's you set up keybinds for almost anything in the game, including gear sets, weapon combinations, powers, spells, etc AND it works like a charm against disarm. You simply, pick up your weapon off the ground, hit your keybind for said weapon and voila, let the massacre resume :)
Hey Gopher - besides ENBs and terrain and texture mods you use, I notice you never use any character/NPC appearance mods. I also notice you don't use animation mods. What is your opinion on such mods? Do you ever see yourself using some of the better, "lighter" ones?
Weapons vanishing into thin air when you switch from one to another - not playing a 'holster' animation first, in other words - is a bugbear for me in a lot of games. An option I'd prefer over auto-dropping would be to simply force the holster animation first, before drawing the weapon you're switching to. It would sidestep the issues with clearing 'Favourited' status, too.
i have this mod. it is great, although i am having other problems with my heavily modded skyrim though, involving bandits having ridiculous amounts of health while on my first mission to bleak falls barrow (and i am basically using the same mods you are in your playthough....) argh, so frustrating.
Thanks Gopher! I have had this mod for a few days now and at first it was working great. Now though, every once and a while all the weapons just disappear from my body, they are still favorited and everything. I have to go and re-favorite them time and time again. Anyone else have this problem?
I will probably use that, but i don;t like the dropping weapons option (so i will disable it) it somewhat realistic, but from the video it seems that sometimes the weapons/shields are not dropped, but thrown away... forget the bugs that they can disappear, if i switch near a cliff, they may be thrown down the cliff and i will have to spend a lot of time searching for it. the other thing is, this is realistic if you consider the character is really in a hurry. a soldier will drop his weapon only if he is TRULY in a "oh shit" moment. i think it would have been better if instead of dropping the weapons, it was made, that you take the time to first sheathe it, then change to the other weapon, and then unsheathe the new one. basically that it takes more time. but it is just my opinion.
If only Bethesda made a game with all these mods/features and also for once made a decent story we would have the best game ever...but alas..we can only dream :)
"Don't quote me on that" - Gopher 2014
First mod reviewer I've found who doesn't use click bait and a female character with no clothes on. Subbed!
You never watched brodual?
Brodual hes just like gopher
I love how you give idea's to mod authors on how they can improve their mods. That is very nice of you.
10:45 - That was pinpoint precision timing with the music and the hits there! Masterfully done, sir!
Was using an edit in the .INI file to make this happen before, but it caused some major clipping/animation glitches. So glad someone finally made this!
Gopher, I just wanted to say I am still watching and loving your videos! You're one of my favorite people on RUclips. Thanks for so many great videos!
As far as I've understand, there is now the feature Gopher requested: The weapons stay on the favourite menu.
And for me the Hotkeys stay too.
So, will you be using the equipment mod? In my opinion Richard would look so much more badass carrying his equipment on him, it'll also show how much hes grown over the Chapters.
I just don't think he should use the realistic un-equip.
Inkognito I agree with you there.
*****
I think a good idea for the "realistic unequip" option could be to rather than have the player throw the weapon away, they just have to place it back where it was before taking out the next weapon, like unsheathe and then sheathe the sword before taking the bow out.
The Skyrim modding scene is really coming of age now. I love mods like this, God is in the detail.
Another great mod, you do seem to have a great knack of finding these great immersive mods. Thanks once again
I do love this mod. I disabled the auto drop thing it became extremely annoying. I would love to see Richard with all his equipment on!
Yet another well done mod that increases the depth and thought put into the combat. Good review, Gopher.
IT'S ABOUT TIME. MORE PLEASE
Hey guys! Immersive armors is now in V7! Hothtrooper44 added a bunch of new armors and it now supports MCM! Go check it out!
***** Watch Gopher's SkyRe video. He tells you how to change the stats automatically.
I owe allot to gopher because most the mods I have, I saw in one of his reviews
You should cover the Bosmer Armor Pack on nexus it looks very cool and interest, and maybe show some more player homes. I'd love to see more. Awesome vids!
So many people bitching about the dropping weapons thing... YOU CAN TOGGLE IT OFF. Why is this so complicated for people to grasp?!?
I feel bad advertising my mods on any of your videos, so I will just tell you to keep up the good job mate, and thank you for what you do for this community!
CI have used quite a lot of your mods in my playthroughs in Skyrim I think. Mounted casting and the Serena one spring to mind. Was there also an absorb magic by blocking mod too?
Gopher I'm honoured you remember it :)
Yes indeed, these three mods were made by me, alongmuch more others :)
I love your videos and attitude man, I understand it is tough to try to do this full time, I hope you get enough subs!
I really missed this series :)
That's what I meant.
I used to use the .ini edit to get everything to show up, but there was a bug with switching weapons. Glad this mod author fixed it.
Good review of the Equipping Overhaul mod. I wonder if it allows the custom enchants on your weapons to continue functioning. Similar mods in the past have been reported to prevent players from using custom enchantments on their weapon/armor mods after they gear up.
Another great vid fella keep the fantastic content coming oh and gratz on 150k subs mate hope the number increases ten fold for you
Please Gopher will you speak about the new Memory Patch that is out made bei Sheson. I heard its the "holy grail" of CTD/ILS fixes. Please approve us that its true and make a nice video as you always do :)
Here here! I second that!

Saw this on another channel a few days ago. Great mod, and I decided to make a weaponmaster. Looks badass.
The banner saga.. I love that game the add is beautiful as well.
Added it to my "Try-out mods" list! Thanks, Gopher! :D
YES finnaly another mod vid! :D
OMG I RECOMMENED THIS ON HIS LAST SKYRIM VID!!!! (faints)
(splashes water on your face)
... thanks?

OP will deliver, surely.
Awesome. XD

Liarra Sniffles He literally shows in the video that you can toggle that off...
SnowBoarderX94 I know? But the mod doesn't add switch time, so toggling that off would remove the tactical choice to change weapon or not.
Once your kids in nursery it would be great if u did a 2014 version of must have mods for Skyrim and new vegas
Omygod I was waiting forever for this mod! 0w0
Looks like it would work very well with Requiem. In Requiem bows break if hit by an enemy in melee. Even if you're putting it away the bow can break. This mod looks like it would nigh-instantaneously drop the bow before it could be broken.

Still a nice mod.
resurrecting the skylights sounds cool
Another great review, just thinking the "Search for you weapons part" would be useful if you use daggers because they are often hard to find and can be obstructed by several bodies.
Not particularly in the 'realistic' aspect, but the "Geared Up" option looks really neat.
Hi Goph! Just wanted to let you know that Equipping Overhaul just got updated. It now remembers favorites and lets you search for dropped weapons with a power just like you suggested.
Like this mod, really worth sacrificing some comfort to some realism.
Hey Gopher,
To fix the Hot Key issue when using the unequip realism option of this mod you should probably try using "More Hot Keys Please."
The "More Hot Keys Please" hard codes (I don't know if that is the correct term) items, spells, etc. regardless of if they are later still in your inventory or not. Hi Gopher !
Once again another great video :)
Can you show in your next Mod Sanctuary the Dual Sheath Redux mod and how to install it?
From what I have seen in the Creation Kit, when a weapon, or any entity for that matter, falls into the "abyss" it will magically appear at either the entrance to the "cell" (Dungeon, Inn etc.) or to where the last prop was placed in said cell, before it is saved and the mod maker types "coc (cell name)" to teleport to the cell! Looks like a great mod.
Would be nice if the mod author added a feature which enabled people who duel wield the same weapon to see both at once.
Awesome! Another mod video! :)

- Fix SkyUI loadout (F1, F2, F3...) issue
Planned Features for a Future Update
- Support for More Hotkeys mod
- Proper armor equipping (think: Armor Animations with realistic animations for each type of equipment)
- Optional dropped lit torch fire spread
- Auto-unequip arrows (will have arrows equipped when bow is in favorites or equipped, auto-unequips otherwise)
AND wait for it...
- Shields on back

Good, good.
New favorite mod.
geared up sounds cool but I favorite a lot of stuff for different playstyles, like one with blacksmith clothes, alxhemist, shield etc. dont ALWAYS want everything showing. sometimes just a bitmore
I've lost so many swords in one particular dungeon where draugr come at you on a bridge, never found any of them.
What this mod really need is to change the animation, so that when you change your weapon, it will first seath the weapon and just then draw the next one. If it does that automatically every time you change your weapon it would be very nice.
@ robin van berkel: its simply named Footprints
the realistic switching looks good, but does this work for NPC's too?? Or is only the player handicapped?
tcl (toggle clip) is all that's needed to retrieve stuff lost through walls/floors. I would think if the Fav menu can't be edited that way, it may be possible to set up an alternate menu that can hold persistent values and can have hotkeys.
Gopher you're awesome!
Hey Gopher,
I hope your comment regarding the next episode was hinting at Skyrim Memory Patch 3.0. It seems to be the next evolution of fixing the Skyrim engine, people have reported stable ugrids of 19 for testing (with very low fps though) and random crashes with large modded setups gone :)

Finally caught up with the Mod Sanctuary :D
Oh!

Gopher! dude this is so amazing!! mod
Your games looking beautiful Gopher, is that RealVision Enb you're using?
I think it would be a good idea if the modder added an option to the mod, where when you choose a weapon on your favourites, the player automatically sheaths the weapon and takes out the weapon you have chosen.
Very nice mod!
It looks awesome :D
the mod author said that they will try to add a script that adds dropped weapons back to your favorites along with shield on back in the next update
*reading title**getting excited*
is this really what i think it is???
it is ;D thanks for showing, was looking for something like this
Maybe you could work around it by making a new artificial favorites menu where items could only be removed manually.
yeah I hate it intensely when those Draugr use the Disarm shout and make you drop your weapon, the shout is more of an inconvenience shout cos you have to re-fave and re-hotkey your weapon.
Gopher "I think that's possible..."
I need the witcher style sheathing. It's awesome.
10:26 Skeleton throne, a.k.a. waiting for OP
I was surprised to see that one on there too.
I fixed the hotkey issue by using the LoadOut mod in conjunction with this mod.
this mod could be put in the top 10 immersive mods :) why don't you make a "sanctuary special" about them? or just a list of.... maybe more videos :)
Will you be using this mod in your LP? Maybe without the realistic unequip option?
This is genius, why hasn't it been done like this before? XD
Any chance you can make a tutorial on how to install Equipping Overhaul? :)
I'm also having issues. I've successfully installed all of the mods required- the Equipping Overhaul mod doesn't show up in the SkyUI menu.
Rylie'x did you wait, because you have to wait, the MCM recognize the mod
I did end up getting it to work. The issue was as simple as a dis-organized load order, thank you anyway :)
I get the mod to work but I don't get my staff on the back, help me please!
HenkeChef Do you have activated the feature in the MCM menu?
Did you set the staff as favourite?
Thanks Gopher.
i have armed to the teeth and weapon position. dagger in the boot and one handed sowrd on the back :D
There are other comments here recommending the "All Geared Up" mod which seems to do exactly what you're looking for.
AnotherPostcard I've been tracking that one for a while, but haven't tried it yet and didn't realise it did that; thanks.
jlollback No, thank you. I like to feel helpful. :)
Gopher has Thorin Oakenshileld's voice
i have this mod. it is great, although i am having other problems with my heavily modded skyrim though, involving bandits having ridiculous amounts of health while on my first mission to bleak falls barrow (and i am basically using the same mods you are in your playthough....) argh, so frustrating.
I lost a legendary dragon war axe to the disarm shout and I was pissed when it happened pardon my French
Thanks Gopher! I have had this mod for a few days now and at first it was working great. Now though, every once and a while all the weapons just disappear from my body, they are still favorited and everything. I have to go and re-favorite them time and time again. Anyone else have this problem?
the only problem I see with the realistic weapon change is that a different bow just appears on his back, might not be the same but still...
There's more???? huzzah!
Bethesda never made a game with good story, characters, dialogues, etc...
Even Morrowind's writing i can's call good.
I wonder how much console users would pay to have Bethesda package together the top 100 mods or so and make them a DLC...
glavgad So very true, although i still rank MW higher than Oblivion and Skyrim in regard to story.
5:00 would make it such a good mod
