I was looking at some mod sanctuary episodes and when I saw the transparent glass armor, I got really excited about it. Until I saw the female version. By Sithis, I will not have my female characters running around the tundra half-naked XD
I like the idea of moving the installation to another vid but I thought it was far from patronizing when I first saw your vids complete with installation instructions. It made it far easier to start modding as I didn't have to find another vid, blog, or site to figure out what to do. So thank you for making a somewhat laborious process much easier to cope with at first.
I think its great that Gopher shows how to install mods. Obviously people that already know how would just skip that part of the video. Personally, before playing Skyrim and watching GophersVids I had no idea what mods were let alone how to install them so Gopher's info has definitely been so invaluable to me over the time I've watched his channel, which was back when you made your first Stiv Let's Play btw. :D
Hi Gropher! I have been a huge fan of your videos and your mod reviews made me like Glass Armor for a while and I have also started using Immersive Hud. In fact, in my latest play-through I have started using iHud WITHOUT the Sneak Eye crosshair. It's challenging but fun and not as tough as I thought it would be! :)
Definitely check out the book cover mod. It has been taken over by another modder who is undergoing a big reworking of the mod. He is updating the mod overall with improved covers and book meshes that are making the books look really, really good.
I would tend to agree. Unless of course you intend playing on the move a lot. But for example my laptop cost twice the price of my gaming rig and is half the performance in games.
love this series :D you need more viewers and subs! you deserve so much more. its just a shame that so many have more than you eventho you have much better standards in everything in quality and such ^^
They sound like they were directly quoting Sheogorath from the Uncle Sheogoraths Really Helpful Hints mod on workshop...just so you know it might not have been serious. >.> Thanks for another thoughtful mod episode. Your reviews are a definite staple to my Skyrim experience. ^_^
The only problem I have with the "Realistic" Transparent Glass Armor is simply the fact that the name itself is wrong. Malachite is... well, a mineral and not at all transparent. It's green, as it's shown well in the game but it's more of a mineral that can be made into jewels and I'm not so sure it can be made into glass. They have reflection, they glisten but they are not at all transparent and to prove that you can simply search "malachite" on the google images. Sure, what this person did is pretty cool but I'm not so sure that is actually glass and Bethesda might have made a small mistake.
I am actually using Moonlight Tales, and I actually enjoy what it brings to the table. Customization of your werewolf, ability to become a werebear for those who use Dragonborn, and many other features am still learning :P
I am pretty tired of finding great armors for females and they all require the UNP body. I will not switch my character's body. I have not found one that I like, that also does not require the UNP body. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Try CBBE normal version.. it's pretty normal. I mean yeah.. females now have a great body for a big nord woman (redguard, imperial blah blah blah..) but after a while you don't even notice the change anymore. I was just like you, there was even a time when I was super nervous about modding my game, I didn't wanna change the Vainilla skyrim feel (I still do, I only use HD textures mods and not so many that adds new things to the game, and if they do.. they're SUPER lore friendly)
I feel the same way especially when using Frostfall. I want sexy lore friendly fully clothed armors showing no skin or very little that shape the female body. Is that so much to ask.
@Gopher Seeing as you clearly like the clear glass armor I think you might like this simple retexture of the Chillrend (thief guild quest line). It has been around for quite some time now and I have been using it from the very start and it really looks like a true ice sword now. It is named "Icy Chillrend with transparency" and is on the Skyrim nexus website. Keep up the good work :)
Gopher! The mod you requested about waking up in a farmyard surrounded by dead animals after losing werewolf form is GENIUS. I'm not too into werewolves in Skyrim as of now simply because of the way Bethesda did it. It's good, but I want something more traditional and realistic. I seriously hope, for the sake of you and myself, that somebody makes that mod and executes it as well as we'd hope.
In Elder Scrolls, ebony is "a hard, durable glass-like substance that is said to be the petrified blood of the gods." (ElderScrolls wiki). I had a black rabbit named Ebunny once.
Mages have the lowest sneak attack bonuses when compared to bows, and light and heavy weapons. However, magic ignores armor for the most part, and gets pretty powerful late-game. You will have a sneak attack multiplier before taking any perks. This can later be enhanced in the Sneak skill tree.
I prefer the original coloring of the glass armor and it does make sense as it uses Refined Moonstone. I certainly enjoy using the original glass armor when playing a High Elf.
Actually it is not very realistic with see-through-able glass. Back in the time period that (I think) Skyrim is set in, they were not able to make proper see-through-able glass. They had colored glass that gave different colored light.
And during those times we had speaking dragons everywhere, with frost trolls magic was common, so common no one cared when you used it. And glass armor was real.....
The glass armour in TES is not regular clear silica glass. The greenish material is a type of ceramic "glass" that is made up of overlapping sheets of interlocking malachite crystals formed in volcanoes and meteorite impacts (moldavite?). The armour would be brittle yet very effective at dissipating a single extremely powerful force. The malachite pieces would have to be replaced periodically as they shattered, further reinforcing the grandeur and expense of the gear. Either way its awesome. :)
man your so good at these videos got some mods for u to review for people view all the mods that help imporve your gamming performance in skyrim and how to exactly use it cause ppl will need them one of them is hiaboost
As this vid is a couple months old you probably won't see this but there is a fix mod for the clipping issues with the better fitting glass helmet mod. "Glass Helmet Fix" Also, aMidianBorn has done a glass armour retexture with a more morrowind-style variant as well as other variants if you would like to check that out "aMidianBorn Glass Armor"
An even better retexture can be found on both the Nexus and the Workshop: "Good Old Glass" It changes the glass armor to the Morrowind black/dark green coloration.
Very True, perhaps also when ''pick up'' your stuff again it will automatically requip what you were wearing before transforming ... if it did then i defintly use it!
Because glass is a generic word for different materials which covers more than just what we call "glass" in everyday life. These materials aren't metals but rather rocks. Ebony armor is also technically a glass armor as it is stated to be a form of volcanic glass, which is to say a type of glass found after the cooling down of magma.
Because while the glass that comes to mind for us is the brittle stuff you drink from glass actually covers a wide variety of materials that are non crystalline and go through glass transition. Certain types of glass are stronger than steel and thats on Earth not Nirn.
A werewolf (related) mod I'd like to see would be one that makes the Silver Hand an actual Werewolf-hunting order. The name is already noble-sounding enough, yet they are just bandits who attack anyone who gets too close. A simple (?) coding change to make them act like guards instead of bandits, and maybe even proper Silver armour. That would be great! (even better if you were somehow able to join them!)
If you use loadout or another hotkey like mod, you keep all your hotkeys(since it doesnt use the actual ingame hotkey system). Which is awesome since I was always annoyed to loose my hotkey when I got disarmed.
Another great video Gopher, thanks! The glass shield and sword are BEAUTIFUL. Can I ask though, did you try the sword with an enchantment on it? Curious as to what the enchant effects might look like on the transparent material. Cheers!
@Gopher From the look of the transparent glass in the video, I think I'll stick to the current mods I'm using. Look up Joshawowo on the Nexus for his "REAL Glass" Mods. They don't look like someone just turned them transparent. They actually look like glass. I think you might prefer these as well! :)
Depends what you mean by inappropriate. If you mean am I offended by female flesh the answer is no. If you mean inappropriate as in it would not provide as much protection against weapons and/or the weather, then yes :) Armor and clothing serves a purpose. In the case of skimpy things the purpose is to titillate the observer which would be appropriate if the wearer was a stripper :)
Nexus does a good job of giving people the option to build the game they want. Hardcore realism? Mudcrabs in top hats? Epic combat? Silly spells? Everything is there to suit your needs. Probably the best part of Bethesda games is the modding community. You buy one game and access to thousands of mods.
Hello, I am not Gopher, but after watching his videos (and after my PS3 bricked), I too have been doing research on a good gaming computer, and so feel that I can give you some very basic advice. There are three things that you want to look for: 1. A good processor, like an Intel Core i3 or Core i5 (AMD makes good stuff also, but I'm not familiar with their products at all). 2. A good (and discrete; not integrated) graphics card. 3. Lots of memory; 8GB memory is pretty good. Hope this helps!
Maybe the mod can add a perk which let's you carry your hot-keyed items. It could be called something like "Lycanthropic attachment" The description would just be that the werewolf has some memory of the items it favors.
Using Tales of Lycanthropy along with Werewolf Aftermath makes me think it would pose a greater risk of losing your equipment, unless Werewolf Aftermath has a marker for your item pack. I can see the trouble in randomly transforming in the middle of nowhere, running around eating hearts to gain perks, then forgetting where you transformed unless you had the forethought to access the map beforehand and place a marker.
That armor Mod is awesome, but it also looks so brittle now :o Allimir: "OMG! MORE BOOKS! YAY! Now we need one for cheese! Or made of cheese! Marvelous!" :D
Hey Gopher you should check out the "Aesir Armor" mod. its a modular armor mod, where you can change the different parts of your armor, like add pauldrons, add a shield to your back and much more.
apparently if there was a mod that lets you black out and wake up with random corpses you shouldnt be able to control your character in werewolf form cause how come you forget what you did when you are in control but it would be a nice addition to moonlight tale's lunar transformation and having cutscene after the transformation and wake up with random corpses
It's called glass because of the resemblance to glass in appearance. It has been called that since Morrowind. (Cant say for TES II or TES I since I haven't played those)
Because the comment you replied to was about "Realism". The mod is called real because the author incorrectly identified glass with the stuff in his real world windows. You brought up Ebony, which I pointed out does not follow our reality either. Also, the UESP description is only ONE in game description. Which was written by an NPC who may be wrong. There are multiple in game descriptions for many things that conflict due to changes between games, or just because it is not understood in-game
Moonlight Tales is intended to replace Tales of Lycanthropy since they're both from the same author and Moonlight Tales does everything Tales of Lycanthropy does only better (complete with MCM options).
I have an HP envy 17 2280nr laptop. It's got a really nice screen even with several mods. I get decent framerates that rarely drop below 30. This is with 1600x900 resolution and medium to high settings with a bunch of texture mods and stuff. I've also made sure to get windows to unpark my cpu cores and fixed the problem of freezing the laptop has when downloading large files online. This only took a bios update. I got mine for 800 U.S. on black friday, but it usually runs 1000 to 1200.
They have talent, and they use it for what they want. We aren't entitled to anything they make, as it is based on their preferences. It's like a modern artist; they could make a type of art the pleases their audience, or they could let their imagination run free for what they want to make. Not saying I like the mods myself, just that different people have different tastes, although they seem terrible in concept to us.
I would agree, I have x2 7870, but there are some problems that I have had to overcome getting them working in some games (like skyrim), that would make it not the best for someone who is building a computer for the first time.
i moved from console to pc with skryim, and no matter how much it lags or how terribel i have to make the game look in order to play it (my pc is old), the mods are still worth it.
The female armor with the vanilla body actually looks nice, I know, it doesn't protect that much but I like the way it looks XP It's the only armor I use and I had the BGM texture, Seems I'll use this one now =P Oh and btw, I play a Khajiit and the better fitting glass helmet looks good to me o.o
From the UESP Wiki: "Skyrim: Malachite Malachite is a rare, semi-translucent green volcanic crystal. It is used to create high-quality glass weapons and light armor. As mentioned in the book Light Armor Forging, this glass bears no relation to the common, brittle type of glass used in windows and ornaments, or in the construction of houses." "Trivia: Malachite in real life is a type of copper ore of green color that can be smelted at high temperatures to yield copper." - The Elder Scrolls Wiki
there needs to be a more realistic transformation like a snout slowly grew out and your clothes ripping off or your armor popping off, idk, I do xbox 360 :'(. Another idea is to have a choice for full wolf or werewolf when you transform, and If you transformed in the snow you would get a ice wolf or a ice werewolf.
I was looking at some mod sanctuary episodes and when I saw the transparent glass armor, I got really excited about it. Until I saw the female version. By Sithis, I will not have my female characters running around the tundra half-naked XD
It bothers me that it's called glass but is in fact, malachite.
I do like the new format. I honestly never watched the installation portion I would just close the window. Great job, as always thanks!
The videos have really been raised to a higher level this way, nice one Gopher!
i'd very much prefer a werewolf mod that gives an animation of turning back to normal.
request a similar mod for vampire lords
Have you found one a year later?
i have not.
2 years later?
Corporal Coward moonlight tales adds a werewolf de-transformation animation ?
I always love your mod videos man, watch them all the way through! Which is more than I can say on most videos (mods or not)
I like the idea of moving the installation to another vid but I thought it was far from patronizing when I first saw your vids complete with installation instructions. It made it far easier to start modding as I didn't have to find another vid, blog, or site to figure out what to do. So thank you for making a somewhat laborious process much easier to cope with at first.
What's even more amazing about him is his narrative kind of voice!
This was uploaded on my birthday sweet! Thanks for the present Gopher!
I appreciate the install vids, I actually learned most of what I know from your videos.
you're voice is so strangely soothing
Both mods for the glass armor together look awesome
Best Skyrim mod series out there, coming from another Skyrim mod series-er!
Needless to say I'm at a point now that for the most part I'm comfortable installing mods. Thanks Gopher. :)
Better rendering techniques mostly, and I am using Depth of Field which always helps :)
Bgm and the werewolf mod is amazing!
wow, the books cover mod looks amazing
Yes, I will totally now go install the wedewulf aftamaath ree-equippa.
Just messing around, no insult intended, love the series.
Definitely check out the book cover mod. It has been taken over by another modder who is undergoing a big reworking of the mod. He is updating the mod overall with improved covers and book meshes that are making the books look really, really good.
I use Moonlight Tales and really love it, mainly because of the MCM options. I can't wait to see how you like it.
I would tend to agree. Unless of course you intend playing on the move a lot. But for example my laptop cost twice the price of my gaming rig and is half the performance in games.
Yay another video! Thank you very much Gopher!
Book covers of skryim is just a must. It really adds a lot to game environment.
love this series :D
you need more viewers and subs! you deserve so much more.
its just a shame that so many have more than you eventho you have much better standards in everything in quality and such ^^
amazing series, you got yourself another subscriber!
They sound like they were directly quoting Sheogorath from the Uncle Sheogoraths Really Helpful Hints mod on workshop...just so you know it might not have been serious. >.>

+MCPunk55 Well that's nice and all but then why is it called glass armor and not malachite armor?
JK, I know what you mean.
I am actually using Moonlight Tales, and I actually enjoy what it brings to the table. Customization of your werewolf, ability to become a werebear for those who use Dragonborn, and many other features am still learning :P
Yeah the hotkeys is the worst part about dropping stuff. If the script can be altered to reapply them it will be a lot better.
I am pretty tired of finding great armors for females and they all require the UNP body. I will not switch my character's body. I have not found one that I like, that also does not require the UNP body. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Just use the unp body with the underwear option.
MrGabbe1200
It has nothing to do with the nudity. I am just happy playing with the vanilla body type and personally do not want to change it.
I feel the same way especially when using Frostfall. I want sexy lore friendly fully clothed armors showing no skin or very little that shape the female body. Is that so much to ask.
xDaenerys Targaryen OH, my queen!
Im sorry, but the skyrim modding community cannot do anything else but skimpy armor mods.
@Gopher
Seeing as you clearly like the clear glass armor I think you might like this simple retexture of the Chillrend (thief guild quest line). It has been around for quite some time now and I have been using it from the very start and it really looks like a true ice sword now.

Gopher is one of the only mod reviewers/showcasers that dont just use completely skimpy and revealing female armors. I find that very great.
I'm just happy they give tools to the modders.
I find the glass armor is a bit too transparent /:
OOOooo. The glass armor is the only armor I've run into that I actually like, so making it look better will only add to that ( :
thanks! I knew it was real but didn't know it was a type of copper ore, thanks for taking the time ou to look it up.
I prefer the original coloring of the glass armor and it does make sense as it uses Refined Moonstone. I certainly enjoy using the original glass armor when playing a High Elf.

***** yo mama! :P
Alpha8887 lol Glad you have a sense of humor too ;)
its a mod called categorized favorites menu.it makes the favorite and hotkeys menu alot better.
I like the transparent greatsword a lot. The look reminds me of the Moonlight Greatsword from dark souls.
The glass armour in TES is not regular clear silica glass. The greenish material is a type of ceramic "glass" that is made up of overlapping sheets of interlocking malachite crystals formed in volcanoes and meteorite impacts (moldavite?). As this vid is a couple months old you probably won't see this but there is a fix mod for the clipping issues with the better fitting glass helmet mod.
"Glass Helmet Fix"
Also, aMidianBorn has done a glass armour retexture with a more morrowind-style variant as well as other variants if you would like to check that out
"aMidianBorn Glass Armor"
I'm using the CBBE body with the Glass Armor and it looks fantastic! And everyone should be using UNP or CBBE!
Thanks for the werewolf mod!
Glass is actually in liquid form , if you measure a old glass plain on top and on the bottom the bottom will be thicker

Cabal is working on a Glass Armor retexture, that will probably trump all the others looking at his previous works.
Another great video Gopher, thanks! The glass shield and sword are BEAUTIFUL. Can I ask though, did you try the sword with an enchantment on it? Curious as to what the enchant effects might look like on the transparent material. Cheers!
That new transparent glass armor is wow...
Just wanted to say thanks to Gopher for using my Saxhleel screenshot. Thats now the third time you are using one of my screenshots :D Thanks
That is the one I was using.
The glass armor is nice, I've never used it but I'm thinking that I will now. The elven armor is nice too, especially the amidianborn retex.
pretty awesome. Like always!
Depends what you mean by inappropriate. If you mean am I offended by female flesh the answer is no. If you mean inappropriate as in it would not provide as much protection against weapons and/or the weather, then yes :)
Armor and clothing serves a purpose. In the case of skimpy things the purpose is to titillate the observer which would be appropriate if the wearer was a stripper :)
Very nice idea of making a different video for the installation.
with the farmer all pissed off yelling at you that shit would be funny as hell
Because the malachite only reinforces the metal of the armor. It's kind of like cement holding bricks together.
Hello,
I am not Gopher, but after watching his videos (and after my PS3 bricked), I too have been doing research on a good gaming computer, and so feel that I can give you some very basic advice.
Malachite IS actually a real mineral. Pretty awesome actually.
in the book "Light Armor Forging" it says that the principal ore used in glass armor is malachite.
Ty someone who actually knows things
That armor Mod is awesome, but it also looks so brittle now :o
Allimir: "OMG! MORE BOOKS! YAY! Now we need one for cheese! Or made of cheese! Marvelous!" :D
gopher the Version 1.1 is a Lower saturation levels of the textures. Gives a more worn, rustic look to the books.
thank you!!! that bugged me all through skyrim! malachite armor is the best!
I see you reviewed Werewolf Aftermath - Get my stuff back when i suggested you at Nexus :D.
Sirxon
Hey Gopher
you should check out the "Aesir Armor" mod. its a modular armor mod, where you can change the different parts of your armor, like add pauldrons, add a shield to your back and much more.

It looks amazing.
Moonlight Tales is intended to replace Tales of Lycanthropy since they're both from the same author and Moonlight Tales does everything Tales of Lycanthropy does only better (complete with MCM options).
I try not to patronize people, I just try to cover enough for non experts to be able to mod the game without incident.
I have an HP envy 17 2280nr laptop. It's got a really nice screen even with several mods. I get decent framerates that rarely drop below 30. I actually came BACK to this video with a hope that they could be mixed. Most unfortunate really...
They have talent, and they use it for what they want. We aren't entitled to anything they make, as it is based on their preferences. Awesome video Gopher!
From the UESP Wiki:
"Skyrim: Malachite
Malachite is a rare, semi-translucent green volcanic crystal. It is used to create high-quality glass weapons and light armor. As mentioned in the book Light Armor Forging, this glass bears no relation to the common, brittle type of glass used in windows and ornaments, or in the construction of houses."
"Trivia:

OMG some one featured Falkreath in their Skyrim videos WOW!!!

+9000 nostalgia from that profile picture.
Malachite is probably called 'glass' the same way that obsidian is referred to as 'volcanic/black glass'.
there needs to be a more realistic transformation like a snout slowly grew out and your clothes ripping off or your armor popping off, idk, I do xbox 360 :'(. Another idea is to have a choice for full wolf or werewolf when you transform, and If you transformed in the snow you would get a ice wolf or a ice werewolf.
