Thanks man, Glade you like the idea Nobody has sent me any feed back I was not aware of the wee misstake I will look into sorting that outand find out why thats happening
Skyrim is just such a fascinating game. I can't believe how much work people have put into mods etc. I really love the community it has created as well. :3
Thanks so much for featuring the Immersive First Person mod, I downloaded it a while ago but it made me feel so ill and I didn't really know what any of the toggles on the MCM menu did so I am really glad you have created this video and persuaded me to give it another try!
There is a new mod out now called Enhanced Camera that I personally think is leaps and bounds better than IFPV. It feels much more stable and smooth, keeps you in first person for everything, including crafting, riding, sitting, etc. Personally I combine Enhanced Camera with a mod called RBE's Enhanced 1st Person Camera Bob, which adds a subtle head bob effect. It's a much more subtle, much smoother and natural head bob than IFPV. Here's links to both: Enhanced Camera:www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55738/? RBE's Enhanced 1st Person Camera Bob:www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/47086/?
Still amazed at what the people of the modding think up and what they can do as well. They are the reason why TES is one of the most replayable games out there.
I don't think that the head bobbling is necessary, I have noticed that even though my head does bounce when i run, it doesn't seem that way with what i am seeing, i think it is because our eyes tend to focus on particular objects or landmarks as we move toward them, and our eyes steady in order to keep the focus centered on such landmarks. I am unsure if this is really how this works, but that is my logic on the subject.
I just wanted to say that you are my absolute favorite source for finding out about Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas mods. Keep up the great work.
Anyone think there shouldn't be that weird vision roll with strafing? If you roll your head right now will fixing your eyes on something, your eyes will compensate, like a gyro.
After you get the profiles set the way you want that Immersive first person is an amazing experience. My favorite part of it is that so many things are in first person now (wood cutting, smithing, enchanting, etc)
...for a second i thought you were going to talk about my mask mod ;) i new nice video. It's a mazing to see that there are still plenty of new good mods around even 2 years after the first game release... i think this is a lesson for every game editors... allowing modding is making your game still "alive" for a longer time than regular non modded games (who is still playing Skyrim on console after finishing it ???... not a lot of people i guess). So thank you Gopher for all those videos, Thanks to Nexus and the modding commiunity !
i think this mod is absolutely amazing with all the head bob, and looking down at the hilt before drawing a sword, and everything else that he complained about, i thought is fantastic and incredibly immersive. a must have, best mod
Hey Gopher, one thing I'd like to point out regarding when you say "I appreciate the realism and immersiveness..." (6:45). I've been attentively noticing how people sometimes confuse such things with reality (by such things I'm thinking of view bobbing, but not exclusively. There's also sun glare, eye adaptation (bright/dark areas), screen splattering effects, HDR, etc, none of which are realistic in any way). In reality, we have a certain view bobbing as we walk and run, but since our eyes have a large FOV, the motion is negligible, and this is where many games fail with their view bobbing. If you lower it to (going on a guess here) 5% or so, you may get something that is approximate to reality. And by approximate to reality I mean negligible while still existing. There's still the factor of the tradeoff between comfort and realism, of course, which is why I totally understand why you'd want to turn it completely off, and why I don't understand the design decisions of some game developers (modders are usually excused, some don't know how to fix it, or sometimes it's hard coded and can't be fixed). A lot of people let themselves get fooled by these trends (perhaps due to misleading marketing). Sun glare, for example, is a complete mistake as well. Sun glare happens on lenses (cameras), not eyes. And there's more, but that's another story anyway.
***** Not in the way games have it. You get it after extended periods of exposure to brightness or darkness, not instantly like in Skyrim or ArmA 2. In order to have it happening faster it has to be extended exposure to extreme brightness (such as noon sunlight, white walls reflecting sunlight, etc), followed by a darker area. Besides that, there's the comfort factor again, I don't know about everyone else, but this effect causes much strain on my eyes (to the point of tears). I had to find a mod to turn it off, otherwise I would put skyrim in the same bag as Arma 2, which is the games-I-can't-play bag. :\
Does anyone else think the Dragon Priest crowns look like something out of Morrowind? Something about the textures, I guess.... Also, love the rather dramatic appearance of Stiv to demonstrate the Vampire Lord thing! :)
I'm glad I saw you covered this mod. I was actually looking at it trying to decide if I wanted to try it or not. Mainly because I have a crapton of mods in my normal playthroughs
+Gopher If you want a mod's MCM tab to appear, you just go into your MCM section, and then exit out. That makes the mod's MCM appear almost as soon as you exit out of it. I'm not sure how or why that works lol. But yeah, you don't have to wait a ridiculous amount of time, don't even have to wait 20 seconds. Just escape, MCM, once you see the list exit out/back to the game, and very shortly after you'll get the notification of a new menu. That's it. Love you and your videos man, keep it all up!
I've never understood when people say headbob makes them nauseous. I've never had that problem, I can't fathom it. The only problem I have with it is that it makes it impossible to focus on any one thing while running.
LnPPersonified Your ear is what makes you nauseous, your ear is not registering the same thing that your eyes are seeing. The most famous example is reading in a car, your ear registers all those road vibrations while your eyes are seeing a page your brain is totally confused and deduce that since the informations are not the same it means that your sences are wronged by something. The brain concludes it's poisonning and makes you throw up to save your life from that dangerous poison that is making your ear and eyes register different stuff. There is your physiological explanation :)
For me it wasn't nausea but the dizziness I experience when I'm suffering from vertigo. It puts me off kilter, like I've gone cross-eyed and I'm straining to return to normal vision. I actually think part of it was the change in FOV, though.
Do you know whats bad about 1stPerson Mods? Look out of the window - does the world outside "move" and "shake" ? No it's because of our body. The view is always stable even when you shake your head - and thats why you will get headaches from this kind of mods - it's a nice idea but set up wrong.
thatguydownthestreat That's why people like the headbobbing and tilting. It simulates the gyroscope visually. Same reason why Gopher likes the compass. It's a visual simulation of what it would be like to actually be there.
The thing with me is that I love this view and I would gladly play with that "nauseas" head bob. I love first person and I like to be as immersed into a game as much as I can.
Probably other people said that before: The mismatch in the description of the entchantments is due to SkyRe, which changes the Dragonpriest enchantments.
Thanks, also instead of using the shortcut key to switch back and forth you can also setup the configuration so that instead of using a profile Vanilla 1st / 3rd person is also an option.
A quick note about immersive fp, I don't recommend using a dual handed sword character because your player will want to take a "fighting stance" when your weapons are drawn. This means that your camera will kind of twitch and make you a little sick.
installed IFP a couple weeks ago, been using ever since. Really love all the customization. Pretty much leave everything in Vanilla FP except for riding a horse.
I think having a load of headbob on this mod actually breaks immersion. who actually bobs their head that much when they're walking unless they have something wrong with their feet?
There is another thing that is quite awesome with Immersive First Person. Sky reflection doesn't disappear while you are one horseback like it does when you're in 3rd person vanilla view.
all we need is someone with skills in animation to come along and improve those 3rd person animations. you can mix match what animations other have created.
From what I can tell, when you draw a bow you can see the crosshair indicating that it's out there. And another thing to add, normally when you're holding a bow, you'd just be leaving it on the sides until you actually aim it. I mean imagine yourself holding a bow in real life, you would not put it in your field of vision UNTIL you actually start drawing your bow and arrow together. So it did exactly what it was suppose to do which is the main reason why you'd want to download this mod, for the realism of first person view.
this immersive FP mod is amazing... seriously ... once you set it up in your own way, play for an hour and its Sooooo immersive. the whole "not turning with the mouse" and "headbobbing" can ALL be configured ..... any complaints people have about this mod are simply because they dont know how to set it up correctly.
I play a ton of FPS so the head bobbing really doesnt bother me. The next TES needs to do this, and perfect it, give it the FPS first person view and head bobbing and I think we'd have a star on our hands.
When I first saw the default Immersive FP I really did get sick. But I do have a ton of problems with motion sickness, and in fact have to take antiemetics any time I play any first person games, or watch them. Was relieved to see you can change all that. XD
When Gopher said something about going into a tavern and ordering a drink with a scary mask on I started to think the mod he was talking about was going to change something about how you wear masks. Like maybe it was going to add a speech/barter effect when talking to NPCs with a mask on. Or maybe it was going to be like Project Nevada for New Vegas and add a visual effect as if you were really looking through a mask or helmet. I haven't seen a mod that does these things and I think they would be absolutely magnificent.
tip, you can change a setting that allows your character to turn where you look. Also, it can be set to only turn at a certain degree. For example, my head can turn 89 degrees before I auto turn, since my head can turn 90 degrees in total. You also auto turn while fighting. USE PROFILE 2 WITH SMOOTHING ON 1
wow this mod is SO much better than joy of perspective, i liked that mod but it was too buggy and incomplete for me, so when this came out I was overjoyed
As always Gopher - a very informative review. I doubt I'd ever install IFPV even though you sounded enthusiastic about it near the end. No offense to the mod author intended, but I find it does trigger a slight bit of motion sickness. If I installed it, I'd end up tweaking it so that it's almost nonexistent, which really kind of defeats the purpose of the mod. I'm hoping that you're not going to implement this in your let's play series but I'm sure if you do, you'll find settings that will be suitable to all your viewers.
Immersive First View is in my top running for mod of the year. I've got it working in tandem with other mods like 360 Walk, RBEs Enhanced 1st Person Camera Bob, Player Headtracking and HeadTrack Crosshair to create an ultimate experience (even was using it with Joy of Perspective mod but JoP has its own issues still being ironed out so I removed it for now). I'm having so much fun doing stupid stuff like look at my own shadow blend in with other shadows as I sneak around and playing with the different view settings...really an outstanding mod. Also try adding Wet & Cold to get frost breath + Exhaustion mod for audio out of breath effect = GOLDEN
The Immersive First Person mod really is very clever and awesome; I was actually disappointed that Gopher didn't show off how neat it is to see simple things like the wood chopping or soup stirring in first person. Not to mention head tracking mods work great with it as well (customization in MCM like the rest); though now I really want to see how good kill-cams look in it. You need to give over a healthy chunk of time to simply experiment and tweak to get something nice, so many options...
1st person for my werewolf would be awesome. Might take some time to adapt to melee, though. For the dragon priest masks, I use SkyJub's Invisible Helmets mod. Descriptions are correct, and the masks/circlets/helmets are completely invisible, and hair is visible and unclipped.
I've played for awhile with IFP and have been very pleased. It needs more polishing and perhaps some custom animations to tighten up the controls and it would be perfect.
The FP mod is an amazing concept with some very useful features, but I for one, cannot play with clipping, breaks immersion, and my OCD flares up like a gasoline explosion.
Guys, you should check the MCM before complaining. You can actually move your camera up and down and when you play around a little bit with the settings like far and near distance view, you will almost notice no clipping. There is even a mod out there which makes your head invisible, which fixes that problem too.
Awesome first 2014 Mod Sanctuary. iFP looks very interesting and good be taken a little further. If it is possible to seperate where you're aiming and where the camera is looking. So you could move one direction and look to the side while moving. Would be awesome with trackIR or similar products.
AnotherPostcard Tried OR in London last year and while impressive, I'll wait to throw my money at it until they fix the panels they use. It was blurry and you could see the pixels. I took it off after 20 seconds.
Don't know if someone pointed it out already, but the reason the description of the circlets doesn't match with the masks is because you use SkyRe, which changes the enchantment on the masks.
Gopher, you forgot to mention that the crowns also include masks from Solstheim, including Miraaks mask as well. Also, you did not say if immerisve first person would be provided for dragon riding as well. Great video, though!
Woot! I've missed this series. Hey Gopher, have you ever looked at The Joy of Perspective? It does mostly the same thing as Immersive First Person View, but it makes only the first person view let you be able to see your body, while still letting you have a third person view. Sadly the modding team havent posted anything lately as theyre still looking for a scripter, but it has been around a while, and I definitely recommend looking into that as well If you're liking Immersive First Person View.
you can see the bow drawn if you set the camera back (closer to your characters face) I use 15 which works fine for me, but that said, I don't wear full helmets, so that might be an issue for those who do.
Thanks man, Glade you like the idea
Nobody has sent me any feed back I was not aware of the wee misstake I will look into sorting that outand find out why thats happening
It looks like it is because of SkyRe. Maybe a patch needed for that.
Gopher, I just want to thank you again for all of your amazing videos. You certainly are the cream of the crop when it comes to this sort of thing.
enhanced camera is so much better, less unnecessary fiddling and no nauseating head bob
Skyrim is just such a fascinating game. I can't believe how much work people have put into mods etc. I really love the community it has created as well. :3

Still amazed at what the people of the modding think up and what they can do as well. They are the reason why TES is one of the most replayable games out there.
Just wanted to say, I love your professional and seemingly non-judgmental coverage. Thanks!
the mod Dragon Priests Circlets been fixed after the release of this video if somone was reluctant thanks to the mistakes pointed out by Gopher
I like it, especially how the characters vision focuses when you draw your weapon, that's kool
I just wanted to say that you are my absolute favorite source for finding out about Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas mods. Keep up the great work.
My day + this video = a day already made!!!!
The guest appearance by Stiv made this video even more amazing than a general Gopher video. Cheers on another great mod sanctuary!
That Immersive FP mod was kind of... trippy
IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. MORE PLEASE

08:10 "Did you notice how the field of view spread out?"
WHAT'S THAT? NO. NO, I DID NOT.
Dear Lord, I needed another Skyrim Mod Sanctuary like I need my next breath!
Thanks, Gopher!
I've never understood when people say headbob makes them nauseous. I've never had that problem, I can't fathom it. The only problem I have with it is that it makes it impossible to focus on any one thing while running.
People are different. I get nauseous if the frame rate drops below 60 now, some people are happy at 30. Different strokes.
Gopher I understand that. I just mean I don't understand why it happens from a physiological standpoint.
LnPPersonified

then again the leaning part is a bit right. when you would run while strafing in real life. you would see a very small leaning effect.
Our Eyes try to compensate the Movement, but cannot do it perfectly so there is head movement where your world around you moves up and down a little.
Dragens2 Also, the inbuilt Gyroscope helps with that as well, telling you when your not right-side up
I was talking about noticable visual headbobbing :) not the feeling of moving

you can reduce it or disable it if you dont like it
yeah, but it shouldn't need to be reduced if it was realistic
There is another thing that is quite awesome with Immersive First Person. Sky reflection doesn't disappear while you are one horseback like it does when you're in 3rd person vanilla view.
Very useful! I will try out the circlets, I've always liked their enchantments, I just don't wear masks.
Richard when his adventure started:

having a manual check option for mcm seems like a good idea
well there you go everyone! A really simple solution to the update problem!
this immersive FP mod is amazing... seriously ... once you set it up in your own way, play for an hour and its Sooooo immersive.

Can't wait to try Immersive First Person as a magic user.

Immersive First View is in my top running for mod of the year. Skyrim - Enhanced Camera is so much nicer then immersive first person view.
I agree.
It definitely is, but I would like some kind of head bobbing.
ComicBook Guy
you can use skyrim enhanced camera mod with RBE's enhanced 1st person camera bob mod. Way better than this mod.
The Immersive First Person mod really is very clever and awesome; I was actually disappointed that Gopher didn't show off how neat it is to see simple things like the wood chopping or soup stirring in first person.

+Gopher Please review the Tamriel Reloaded- Textures and Parallax mod! I want to hear it from you.
I've played for awhile with IFP and have been very pleased. It needs more polishing and perhaps some custom animations to tighten up the controls and it would be perfect.
argh, i cant wait to play and mod up skyrim again, with the First person mod :D
The FP mod is an amazing concept with some very useful features, but I for one, cannot play with clipping, breaks immersion, and my OCD flares up like a gasoline explosion.
My immersion gets more broken from suddenly becoming shorter when entering first person
It looks like you follow every RUclips that I do as well.. Strife, Gopher, XCal.. Stop following me!
Guys, you should check the MCM before complaining. You can actually move your camera up and down and when you play around a little bit with the settings like far and near distance view, you will almost notice no clipping. There is even a mod out there which makes your head invisible, which fixes that problem too.
Pedro Piccini No.
DigitalVirusX2 Ok. You're cool anyway, so I don't mind.
God, I love you, Gopher

Would be awesome with trackIR or similar products.
Imagining that with an Oculous Rift ... oh my goodness.
AnotherPostcard Tried OR in London last year and while impressive, I'll wait to throw my money at it until they fix the panels they use. It was blurry and you could see the pixels. I took it off after 20 seconds.
*****
It was blurry _and_ you could see the pixels? Like blurry pixels? Thanks for the insight, mate.
The best part of this video is 4:56 when he gets so excited to change the settings lol.
Wow that first person mod is amazing!
Albeit a bit motion sicknessy
the 1st person werewolf looks so awesome
That tiss a badass outro you have sir
Do you also stay in first person during the game's 'cutscenes' (crafting, sitting down, etc.)?
yeah
Yes, you can actually it also works with the harvest animation :)
It's an very well done mod and actually extremly immersive.
All in all GREAT MOD
yep and i must say first person alchemy is cool
2:35 - 2:55 is good proof that 1080p on RUclips is absolutely worthless now. You know Gopher wouldn't have uploaded it like that.
Gopher i just wont too say keep doing what you doing meat im always looking forward to your content or videos you publish
Looks great, thanks Gopher!
I love the Head bobbing!!!
I think the Open Dragon Priest masks look better since you can wear those, see your face and wear your favorite hood or helmet.
yay!
10/10 ending. Very stylish !
Deserve soooo much more subscribers
love watching your videos
Dude... Imagine the immersive fp mod with the oculus rift. The immersion...
you can see the bow drawn if you set the camera back (closer to your characters face) I use 15 which works fine for me, but that said, I don't wear full helmets, so that might be an issue for those who do.
I use this mod whenever i play. Way more immersive.
I love the immersive FP mod and I'm really pumped to trying it the oculus rift once it comes out :-)
From the look of that head bob at 20%, I bet 12% is the sweet spot, little less than what it was but not so much to cut it in half.
8:10 Actually, that function is perfect for my husband in many games, as he gets motion sickness quite a lot.
The mod that expands the smithing to like dwarven design and such
The werewolf first person is amazing
Immersive GP and occulus rift would be a fun combo.
