- Legacies: Chapter Chapter Threeo - Dracthyr's Origins is out and here I give you my live reaction. It's a bit scuffed because I just moved house, but we're getting there. Love how they've brought these three episodes together. The art is awesome and the reveals are quite nice while still keeping the original frame intact. I'm hyped, release the drachtyr!!!

I'm thinking the OG's had been sending him whispers of power, which he ignored....until he needed that power. So his fall from grace was when he accepted the offer.
I read the "OG's" as "Original gangsters"
That's what I was thinking. The void can see all possible futures and they decided that, in enough of those futures, Neltharion fell to them, so they were whispering to him for a long time. He probably thought he could use their power once and continue to resist them, but once he let them into his mind, for even a split second, he couldn't fight them off forever.
@@JoseAnd97 well they kinda ARE that lol
that completely changes his character though, he goes from someone be driven mad to someone who accepts being evil. what the second he accepts it he just decides "damn used that bad power guess i'm full on evil now" that's some Anakin levels of turning on a dime.
@@DaWoWzer well idk if 10 thousand years of stewing in old god whispers of corruption until the events of the Sundering can be described as turning on a dime lol.
Neltharion fighting the primalists doesn't necessarily mean that he was still a purely good guy leading up to the battle. I suspect that he was already on his way to being corrupted by the old gods before this battle, but this battle became the breaking point that firmly put him on the path to becoming Deathwing.
Yeah it could be that at this point he was well intentioned extremist, so while technically on the "side of angels" still but already clearly on his way to becoming Deathwing, the fact he used magic instead on training and his own charisma to secure the loyalty of the Dracthyr suggest Neltharion's thinking might have already been altered by the Old Gods just with him being unaware of it.
I think that's what they're going for. The Dawn of the Aspects hinted Nelthairion was already hearing the whispers of the Old Gods as a proto- drake, but this implies he didn't immediately fall for them, kinda like how Sylvanas didn't immediately join the Jailer in the novel. This implies he only truly accepted their "gift", when cornered by Razageth and losing control of his private army. I can't say if Neltharion's hesitation was reason or arrogance, but it does bring more complexity to the character, something Deathwing lacked during Cataclysm.
hell for all we know the old gods helped the primalists, to force his hand
I think it's pretty likely the artifact Neltharion was using was Tyr's Hand and it's really fitting.
Since the beginning of the Warcraft franchiase, Tyr's silver hand was the icon that allowed you to control and command the units in the RTS. It would be a crazy meta thing for Neltharion to have fashioned Tyr's lost hand into an artifact that allows him to do the same thing to the Drakthyr.
that would be really cool! lol kinda hope this is true
Tyrs silver hand, or a random footman gauntlet?
I'm not 100% convinced, since it wasn't shown that Tyr lost his hand in the first video and Nozdormu didn't recognized it as "Tyr's hand"
It wasn't Tyr's hand that was the cursor, it was a gauntlet lol
Tyr's hand would be with you know, Tyr. There's no reason for Neltharion to have it.
Just wanted to point out: In the video you call it control magic. However, in the cinematic, they call it "order magic". I think it's more saying that the magic is of Titan Origin, as they are the Order aspects of the universe, meaning opposite of disorder. (Cosmology chart)
Granted, you might've just called it control magic because that is what it was used for. My point is mostly to say that it's not necessarily a new school of magic like Shadowlands introduced Domination magic
order in wow = control thats what they are pushing
domination magic isnt a new school of magic either, its death magic
it's the same magic the titans used to control the dragonflights
"Order Magic" is just Arcane magic. Arcane represents order while Fel represents disorder and chaos.
It's nice to see the point where Deathwing switched from simply hearing the Old Gods and actually listening to them.
I'll bet he sealed the Dracthyr so he couldn't use them when he turned evil. A final moment of good.
I'll also bet the Old Gods were pulling a Palpatine and playing both sides here. They wanted to have a disposable army to push Neltharion into accepting their offers of power.
Pretty good take. Just don’t know how norzdomu couldn’t see the old gods influence on him
It's also possible he sealed the dracthyr so he wouldn't pull them down alongside him.
I gotta admit that I love the idea of Nelatharion hollowing out Tyr's Hand like a pumpkin and turning it into a glove.
I don't really see the moment of Deathwing's corruption as a heroic sacrifice. At best it reminds me more of Arthas taking up Frostmourne to "bear any curse for his people". At worst, he gave into temptation to finish off a dangerous nuisance now that his toys were broken. Either way I take it more of the same with Neltharion as a brutal pragmatist with an agenda even before the Old Gods.
Looking at it, I'm reminded of a quote from Thal'kiel way back in Legion about Alleria (I forget the precise quote, but it was something like this): "She plays with forces she doesn't understand. One wrong step, and she'll lose herself". I think, what with the recent story beats about the Lightforged, that the story is going for a contrast between doing good for bad reasons/doing bad for good reasons. Whether it's through the Naaru or the Old Gods, you're still selling your soul for power and it *will* corrupt you eventually. I think the implication is that this is when the whispers of the Old Gods really started to influence Neltharian. He might have heard them before now, but this is when he let them in, and while it might have only been for a moment, that's all they need. He might have even known it, and sealed the Dracthyr away because he knew they'd never turn on him, no matter how insane he became, which only make stopping him that much harder. Perhaps he did something to the timeways, so that even he himself forgot about them, which would retroactively explain why they've 'always existed' despite being new lore and why Nozdormu couldn't see what happeend either.
To quote Hellsing: "Whether the deal is with God or the Devil, the price is the same"
I never thought of it that way, but it makes sense. Neltharion might have been sealing them away from himself and what he was becoming. It explains why he didn't just say in Cataclysm, "Hey guys, I got this army full of powerful dragon soldiers, let me try to go over there and get them. Continue the destruction of Azeroth as planned, BRB."
Judging by how Neltharion/Deathwing's character had been portraid in books and in-game, his pride and boastfulness mask a flawed, insecure psyche. I think the foremost reasons he sealed the Dracthyr (and masked the events from his colleagues, going the length of even hiding it from Noz) were :
- 1) He couldn't control them like perfect weapons, which is what he viewed them as. If they weren't under control, they were worthless to him.
- 2) They were witness to his moment of weakness, succumbing to the temptation of using void magic. If his fellow aspects were to learn of it, he would lose their kinship and respect, something he craved.
It also reminds me a little bit of when Arthas claimed Frostmourne. Muradin tried to warn him but Arthas was so blinded by vengeance that he did not care anymore. After he killed Mal'Ganis he was already succumbing to the whispers of Ner'Zhul.
7:16 Hey, I just noticed, doesn't Neltharion's visage kinda looks similar to Korialstrasz's visage from the covers of Well of Eternity and Night of the Dragon? Except he's wearing armor instead of robes.
If I'm right, then it's quite hilarious considering how it was once mentioned that Alexstrasza would certainly pick Neltharion to be her consort if they were of the same flight. Apparently, the Dragonqueen has a TYPE! xD
Korialstrasz's visage was an high elf. In war of the ancients, Korialstrasz made a comment and others of what race Rhonin was because humans didn't exists yet so yeah so dont know how Neltharion visage came to be. Unless he saw Tyr and that why.
@@misamimoon9578 I meant that they look the alike (faces and general body build), not that they are of the same race :p
Neltharion is probably going for vrykul, vrykul look like humans but bigger basically
Honestly the “same flight” thing was silly to me. Yeah, Krasus did say that if Neltharion was the same flight as Alexstrasza, she would’ve made him her consort.
Except dragons are capable of breeding with each other no matter their flight. Sintharia, the consort of Deathwing, confirms that’s it’s entirely possible, and likely has happened when the flights were still in that period of peace before Neltharion’s betrayal.
So I’d like to know the real reason Neltharion and Alexstrasza didn’t get it on. They absolutely could have, I guess the dragons all saw the Aspects as siblings and they probably thought that was too awkward LOL. Imagine announcing to your respective flights that your new mate is another Aspect that everyone sees as your sibling.
@@holyboiamethin2790 yeah it would be weird if royal family had an incestuous relationships over the course of history... Oh wait
the gauntlet had "order magic" so he lost the magic of order which is what the titans use , so he turned to a different kind of magic, void. it makes sense. this now shows that order the magic from titans and rhelm of order is also a controlling magic...interesting , this might be why he turns to murazond, because he sees what neltharian saw..order was control
The old gods were most likely whispering to him before this, otherwise he'd not be able to draw from their power so easily. So technically its not a retcon.
This yeah. He was the Earth Warden so his aspect power drew on Azeroth's essence which was, corrupted by the presence of the old gods.
Since the day he became an aspect I'd say he was hearing (or capable of hearing) whispers.
we know this is the case, as soon as he was a aspect he got wispers (legacies chapter 1 you can see it)
i believe i read somewhere he was hearing whispers even back when he was still a proto dragon, so he was basically doomed to be corrupted from the start.
@@RanRayu this is the factual de facto lore, yes, they didn't break the lore at all
The only people screaming retcon are morons trying to look smart.
a reaction from user Miriam Weller on the legacies video: "Very likely that he imprisoned them, because if he wouldn't have, he would have dragged them down into his insanity an corruption. When he did it, he was still sane enough to protect them from this."
I personally hope this is what they are going with.
I like that theory.
To me the important part is how did Rasageth survive being sucked into a Void Portal and NOT be corrupted by the Void as a condition of returning?
I'm wondering how Raszageth escaped period, but I guess we'll find that out in the Dracthyr starting zone probably
Honestly wonder if the being sucked into a voidportal isn't just an artistic way of showing their defeat, instead of for example many tentacles slapping them into submission. This because of the story that flows after this retelling.
I think he's already stuck a bargain with OG's... I present to you: Galkaron 2.0
Two scenarios that spring to my mind immediately:
1. Neltharion did usually not show any visible, outwards corruption until his armor plates were removed, and then even more after crashing into the Maelstrom. Raszageth, and the Primalists (they remind me very much of Twilight Hammer), might very well be influenced by the Old Gods.
2. N'zoth is the believed corruptor of Neltharion, so it stands to reason that it is N'zoths power being drawn upon against Raszageth. N'zoth's gone now, and whatever power held Raszageth away could possibly have disappeared with him.
There might be other reasons why, but these don't seem too hard to justify.
@@jaghatarkebab2020 I though Nltharion's body got messed up at the point he used the Dragon Soul during War of the Ancients. Or he was fitted with his Adamantite slabs for that occassion.
Also the N'zoth point is.. Nice! It didn't cross my mind. But even with Raszageth's Void prison now gone... He was under 20,000 years of void exposure.. Something has to pay off.
So we have a villain of an old expansion who drew on a power he couldn't control for reasons he thought were right and just and also had an army of incredibly loyal soldiers who would be imprisoned until they were released only at a time of great need and became a race restricted hero class.
Am I talking about Deathwing or Illidan?
but that would mean we're going to get a "Deathwing Redemption Arc"... uh oh
@@CRSB00 Oh no this again...
@@CRSB00 I would love this. Ironically. It would be amazing to have Nozdormu's whole 'this moment can never be undone' completely thrown out the window.
@@CRSB00 don’t worry I’m sure they won’t do that. Ok I’m at least 75% sure. Maybe, 50…. Ok 10. Alright im 1% sure it wont happen.
if it aint broken.... :D
Nozdormu definitely seemed more interested in that gauntlet than he did the Drakthyrs creation.
All Dragons like trinkets my dude 😆
Weren't we all
Theyre probably expanding the lore on the titans vs the elemental lords in this expansion.
5:38 Not necessarily, he could have still been slowly corrupted by the old gods to the point that using the old gods power was seen by him as a viable choice as a last resort.
An interesting note: in the game files there are two models of this "gauntlet of the Titans" - as a broken object, like in the video; and unbroken as if it could be put on, like a glove or fist weapon.
Shadowlands did the same thing with the Helm of Domination, doesn't mean we will see it in game in anything other than the machinima style cutscenes though
I feel like he sealed the Dracthyr away in a final moment of good or redeeming quality about them so he couldn't drag them down with him due to their overbearing loyalty too their general even without the gauntlet in his hand. The blues were also part of this as well he possibly even bargained with the blue dragons too be their guards to make sure they were ready/safe.
8:16 Its really interesting how she said "You spoke of an ancient enemies return, its Razagath and the primalists" and he literally says NOTHING about it or acknowledges it. 🤔
Yes I believe he is the true evil (Murozond/Infinite Dragonflight) or probably an old God like C'thun is returning.
How did the other aspects never notice that Neltharion has a big dracthyr army btw?
He likely was still building them up - and it's not like the others did not have their own armies - you see a hell lot of dragons dying when he becomes Deathwing.
They also might simply ignored it, because who cares about some tiny little humanoid pseudo dragons - and just keep that for themselves.
How are some "humanoid" Dragons more capable than actual Dragons tho? Why even bother to create them?
@@ignatiusbrechnuss3896 - It was something about the qualities that "mortals" have that dragons do not, but I don't really know what mortals they drew inspiration from that early on. Most likely are some early fallen Vrykul, or possibly trolls. Weird that Neltharion presents as human when they didn't quite exist yet.
@@mokarokas-1727 Im inclined to believe before Chromatus and the Twilight Dragons was a thing, that Nelth/Deathwing wanted or was told to perform the gene splicing thing to create a hybrid dragon race, probably started off small with humanoid figures as opposed to big bulky Dragons to be easier to control and put down if needed. If a Drakthir Evoker has so much power, if it was something done with the size of an Aspect it would lead to possible problems.
I kinda don't like how they're kinda pushing Neltharion towards the same "noble sacrifice" as Illidan/Arthas/Sargeras/The Jailer... That he simply wanted to do what was required to defeat the greater enemy - even if that meant sacrificing himself and/or making choices no one else would understand. I'm not saying that's what's happening, but I feel like it's eerily similar to how Illidan decided to accept the dark powers of the demons to defeat them.
Path to hell is paved by good intentions as the saying goes.
I'd love to see your thoughts on this, Nobbel (and anyone else who wants to share ideas):
Granted this series is full of artistic license that doesn't reflect the lore 100% accurately, but it still clearly shows that Emberthal is familiar with Neltharion's visage form. Why then is she confused about Nozdormu's visage, to the point that he has to explain why dragons have them? Is it just an "oops, we didn't think of that lol"?
Also weird that Neltharion's visage is human. Some say it's supposed to be Vrykul, but nah... Also I don't think they had been hit with the Curse of Flesh yet (was roughly 15 000 years ago), depending on when this actually takes place. Of course, that doesn't explain the others' elven forms either since the only elves in existence were MAYBE early night elves...
And finally, why oh why didn't Neltharion even TRY to fight in dragon form, or use Old God powers after initially failing? I know, I know... artistic depiction. lol
My biggest question about this cinematic is how was raszageth so strong that the aspect Neltharion was not strong enough to defeat him unless he turned to void? To my knowledge he was regarded as physically the strongest aspect among the five and yet this elementally charged proto drake was stronger than the earth-warder?
It wasn't just Raszageth, at 3:42 in the video it shows other proto-drakes using other elements. Raszageth was just the leader of the proto-drakes.
Yeah if the primal incarnates are on par with the aspects that would make it a 4v1 so it’s totally reasonable that Neltharion would need backup from N’zoth
My take on this is that neltharion had been hearing the whispers for a long while. In this desperate moment he made the bargain to gain the power he needed.
Honestly think this is a great way to introduce new evils
I think that the whole fall from Grace thing is more along the lines of before that moment there was at least a chance of overcoming the whispers while afterwards the corruption became inevitable
People saying this retcons Neltharion's Fall it actually doesn't since it wasn't outright said he didn't hear them before hand but he probably didn't succumb to them till it was absolutely necessary and after him accepting there power the Whispers became even more incessant
Plus this is Nozdormu point of view of the story. He didn't know his brother was already under influence of Old Gods way before this. That's my take at least.
I like the approach they’re going with this expansion. Writing your own story and such. Taking a step back from wars and just exploring after what we’ve been doing is much needed.
Except the whole time skip thing, so we're going to have to catch up on what happened when we were NOT in the story, after all.
@@mokarokas-1727 man we missed lorthemar's and thallysra's wedding that just makes me sad
Ember either dies later or joins the infinite dragon flight. A lot of shadow around those two. At one point norzdormu was a shadow with just blue eyes peering back.
Cool that they gave the bronze dragons the power of exposition.
I think Neltharion straight up tapped into void magic because he knew about it and was desperate. But because of it old gods started to have more influence upon him. After all he was the aspect most connected to azeroth as it's protector.
The moment Naltharian called on the Old Gods for power is the day he started feeling their influence. Drawing on their power made him susceptible to their influence, and years later led to the Deathwing we saw in War of the Ancients, already hearing the whispers. Paranoid and hard at work creating the Dragon Soul.
@Riley That is not what the writing says. The writing says that Neltharion was feeling their influence and hearing their whispers even as a proto-drake before they were ever elevated to the shape of Aspects.
Liking the new intro screen! It was about time we got a new one.
Shadowlands is over - Time for Dragonflight *crab rave*
Agreed, but not Nobbel's fault! :3
Glad someone noticed

watch the video again, but close your eyes and only listen to Nozdormu's voice. It changes. It goes from slightly higher, to deeper and with a revibe/echo after he tells her to face the vision. Maybe Nozdormu and Murozond are there at the same time..
You know, when he went into shadow and all you can see were his glowing eyes, I kinda thought "Murozond" for moment there.
Ok, hear me out... He had been hearing whispers for a while but was able to ignore them, despite the controlling gauntlet he actually saw the Drac'thyr as his children, he finally gave in to the whispers after they offer him a way to save his children. Afterwards since he couldn't kill them but he also couldn't let them live after what they had seen he imprisoned them hoping that one day after his plan had already been attempted someone would wake them up and they would join the fight against the primals out of their own free will, and that was basically his last good act before going 100% evil
I wonder if these primalists has anything to do with Smolderon’s absence in that questline back in bfa.
I hope u reach 1m subs asap Nobbel, always entertaining and great videos
Actually, when Neltharian had Malygos imprison the Dracthyr they blocked Nozdormu's ability to see that point in time.
I think only Aman'Thul would've had the power to see considering he's the High father.
🤔 Which makes me wonder if the titan is the answer to how we save the lord of the bronze flight from becoming Murozond.
Emberthal has a lot of unpacking to do for "being forced into a cult where I had no autonomy but I was indoctrinated to follow without question anyways". Enslavement under Order is not better than under Fel, Death, or Void.
It was the hand of Tyr that Neltherion had to control the dracthyr
Imagine waking-up as Emberthal with about 250 centuries of accumulated dust on your tongue. That must be fun!
I kinda feel like the "moment he fell from grace" is just the moment that, after having had the Old Gods knocking on the door for literal centuries, Neltharion, out of desperation, allowed them in, in order to defeat the Primalists - and then after he had opened that door was when everything just went downhill towards madness for him. So yes, it was a heroic sacrifice, but I personally think it just adds a bit more depth and nuance to the story, instead of it being "He becomes an Aspect (several millenia passes until the War of the Ancients) and then OH! He's mad now!". Like now he has a specific breaking point - and also him freezing the dracthyr clearly shows that, while he had indulged the Old Gods in yeeting away the Primalists, he didn't trust the Old Gods at that point, so he froze the dracthyr in case the Primalists came back, because again, he didn't trust the Old Gods to not just throw them back at him as a prank at that point. I always felt that Neltharion was definitely the most underdeveloped of the Aspects when it comes to who he was *before* he was corrupted, so I looove that they are giving him more depth now.
Anyway, love your videos, keep up the good work
I'm having a bit of a theory here about the long term story of WoW, which might be a bit out there, but hear me out!
So far, we've got all cosmic forces, fighting over Azeroth's soul. Void being there first, then the Order, Disorder (Fel)and then Death. Light has always been around, but doesn't seem to have (yet) made a big move. All we're missing is the domain of Life, as it's own thing. Now, after Shadowlands, we were told that "a cosmos divided, will fall". The way I see it play out, is every cosmic force making a move on Azeroth, until she awakens, after being infused by all cosmic forces, to become the "unity" of all.
Here's the weird thing about Light... According to the Chronicle EVERYTHING comes from Light. Even Void started from Light early on, and Light particles coalesced in space to form the Titan "eggs" and Elemental life on planets. I think at this point they'll be afraid to expand on this cosmic power lore anyway, considering how inconsistent and messy the Shadowlands story was.
Also, technically Sargeras enslaved demons and non-demon races to take out Azeroth because he was afraid it would be corrupted by Void... The cosmic power of Fel, or if there's indeed some "pantheon" connected to it, doesn't seem to be involved by its own will at all. On top of that, according to Shadowlands this was all the Jailer's plan anyway. ;) *vomits*
I know it's a bit tried in wow, but how cool would it be if the OGs were also manipulating Razageth (and maybe the source of their strength), perhaps they then sent Razageth to force Neltharion to finally give in and become Deathwing.
My take from this is that Neltharion was hearing the whispers but pushing them away until the moment he desperately needed the power necessary to win and his corruption just snowballed from there. The more he used it, the more it changed him in body, mind, and soul until he became the tentacled, lava monstrosity we saw in Cataclysm.
So excited for this, I can't wait to play with the dracthyr creation screen and the dracthyr itself, but I'm not gonna lie, I think half the fun is going to be in creating my dracthyr and playing with all the tons of customization options I've seen over the months in videos and articles.
I mean his change over time is basically canon already with how mad he was in cata when you compare it to the books like Arthas. Man I loved in books when they showed things from different perspectives, like in "Arthas" one where you had a repeat of a scenes from the "Tides of Darkness".
Nozdormu telling Emberthal to confront their past , while in an infinitely obscuring haze. :D
Around 4:00 "is that Tyr's hand" if I recall correctly Galakrond bit that off a long with his special titan "lulu" device. They didn't show it, but Tyr helped the proto drake's take down Galakrond because he was a SERIOUS problem eating drake's and then...zombie drake's. I think our boi is onto something here.
I wonder if just being a timewalker like nozdormu is similar in nature to the whispers of the old gods. Because I don't think they always told lies, but instead whispered about the fate of things around the creatures they were corrupting, and maybe becoming one with the infinite dragonflight is similar to being corrupted by the old gods due to the truths you must witness as a timewalker of the bronze dragonflight.
The music from 6:55 really hurt. You could feel the moment of betrayal coming and how they felt.
Maybe he imprisoned them because they saw him use old gods power and didn't want them telling that to the other aspects?
That's a good point, it would explain how Nozdormu and the others didn't know about his corruption until he screwed them over during the War of the Ancients.
If he's been hearing whispers since before he was impowered, then the slow wearing him down had already begun long ago. It may not be the moment he fell from grace or the moment he did a heroic sacrifice. It could just be the moment he decided to use the void for the first time, perhaps thinking he could control it. After a long time of not giving in, it was the moment he did give in so he wouldn't lose. It doesn't need to be heroic or evil, but the moment he let his guard down that then allowed his long descent.
I think you can still read it as him being corrupted by the Old Gods over time. He had perhaps still been hearing the whispers and getting corrupted, but this was the first time he chose to openly use the power. It also explains why he had to lock the Dracthyr away, so they couldn't reveal it to anyone else.
I am not sure if is just an artistic detail, but did you guys noticed there is purple and magenta colored dragons at the end? Nether and Chromatic flights?
I really am hoping we get some sick cutomizations for our dragons through out the expansion. Hopefully, similar to the PVP glad mount, we could have Netherwing variants come into play. I think it would even be cool if DK's got their own cool side quest where they "redeem" themselves from the events in legion. And unlocking the "undead" versions of the mounts? idk just some ideas.
As intriguing as that would've been, it's probably just artistic license.
The only thing I would've liked to also see is Malygos helping with the cryostasis part. He would've stolen the spotlight, though.
I take the "fallen from grace" as the moment where he finally LISTENED to the voices of the Old God's trying to control him. That was the point he gave into the offer of power and where is ideals actually started to become corrupted.
In regard to the vocabulary used by Nozdormu "fell from grace" or "turned to the deepest evil", the word sacrifice (or sth similar) is never used. My point being that the takeaway shouldn't be "DW sacrificed himself" but "DW decided to use the OG's power to fight the primalist" which was wrong on many levels (for noz).
Finally a lightning dragon, been wondering where this dragonflight was since mop
Neltharion remonds me of Strahd von Zarovic from D&D. He looked amazing before corruption - cool charecter design. 😮
Literally went to your page to see if I could say reacts @ legacy three when xD
Neltharion's sacrifice! Epic.
Neltharion embracing the old gods looks like a space marine being consumed by chaos.
This is just making me want to get into the game so badly, the only thing I wish is that the artist changed the designs to look like the dragons in the animation instead of having them be like they’re from Deviantart and fursona looking dragons, but still I like these guys a lot 9/10 characters tbh.
Helm of Domination, gauntlet of domination...
Marcellus Wallace: "I'm pretty far from okay..."
Love how this popped up on my front page before the actual video itself
Haha saaame xD I was like O SHIT I better go look for the original first lol
i call it. We will see Deathwing aka Neltharion again. He was so badly corrupted in Order and dark margic. We still dont know where Titans and Old gods go when they die. Neltharion could be in both underworlds.
if anybody has noticed the armor set for dracthyr on the first raid has the same shoulder appearance as Neltharions Shoulder look and as well for the belt. Kinda cool in my opinion
that gauntlet sure looks like it was equiped on Nozdormu at some time ago, wonder if he was a super saiyan while equiping it back then
So are we going to ignore the facts that:
- Neltharion didn't had his flight with him?
- all other flights were nowhere to be seen despite this seemed like it happened in the dragon isles?
Time for the Deathwing redemption arc!!
Oh god, Blizzard is going to give us "He went evil to fight a greater threat" explanation again.
My take is that Deathwing was being gradually corrupted, and that this was the first moment he actively tapped into the power of the Old Gods. Like being tempted or led on in smaller ways with this being the first true sin he committed, and out of shame he hid it, which allowed it to fester and lead him to more corruption and greater sins.
I've watched it a few times now, and a few things that jumped out at me. First, is Norzdomu never said Raszageth is the ancient enemy they need to fight. There might be something else even older, even worse to deal with. That gauntlet used order magic to control the Dracthyr, and I can't recall any other point when order magic has been talked about. It's interesting seeing order magic being shown used in an evil manor. Next, why is Raszageth so powerful? Nefarian was a dragon aspect, for all intents and purposes he should have been stronger than Raszageth, yet Nefarian had to use void magic to defeat them. I'm thinking the real enemy will either be something void or order related. I'd really like it if they finally did something different and the enemy was right. If we fight the storm drakes that are resisting the titan's control, and it turns out the titans were wrong the whole time.
I think Neltharion was being slowly corrupted by the Old Gods but was handling it just fine at the moment. Possibly he would have told the others what he was going through however that war happened and he felt he had no choice but to accept the Old God's power. Not aware that he would not be able to pull himself back from jumping over the edge. Possibly before he truly was lost managed to lock away the Dracthyr to prevent them from being corrupted as well.
Could the Dracthyr join Nozdormu in the Infinite Dragonflight in the future? They look at bit like the Dragonkin that come through the portals in caverns of time WOTLK
Shadowlands with Zovaal as the discount Thanos . Dragonflight brings us the infinity gauntlet, all makes sense.
Emberthal's surprise face was cracking me up, cool cinematic though!
Never would I have thought they would even consider a deathwing redemption arc
I took it as it was the first time Neltharion tapped into void magic. thus, was no longer pure and fell from grace.
Glad you manage deal new housemovement deal finally! I also have to deal echo issues first week and saw dust builders left behind XD was brand new building, echo is common starter issue saw dust is uncommon but some lucky? ones may have it but that means you must be goos stand of social or officer wont help you
how i see it, he was already getting whispers but was refusing the temptations. he was still a bastard for basically mind controlling his subject as far as we know,, but he must have already had the old god temptation by the time this happened, when he doe in, out of desperation. a finale "ok yes i will take your power!"
I think its interesting that the dragon isles were always isles. I believe this is the first landmass in azeroth that we know of that isn't originally from the pangea-like Kalimdor.
Takeaway: modern blizzard finds neltharion incompetent to deal with Razsageth alone surrounded by his 'elite' army.
there is questline in temporal flux or something , in dragonflight when npcs stuck in time when you helped them they have very curious dialogs ,
warden dialash says : death's wing ! i saw a future of unstoppable dracthyr imbued with the light
scribe kalve says : finally free!! i saw vision of my afterlife in there! took me forever to decide on a covenant. . .
I wonder if killing N’zoth is what eventually re-awakened the primalists?
i see the corruption of Neltharion as he had the old god whisper to him but he was not letting them control him but at this point in desperation open the door to the old god and we know what happen next.
I don't think the corruption of Neltharion being a slow process or the result of a heroic sacrifice is an either or situation. It's possible that the whispers constantly nagged on him offering him power if he succumbed. And while he could resists them, it still ate away at him slowly but surely. So that when he realizes that he needed more power, he gave in to their influence believing he was strong enough to handle it.
The sacrifice is what tipped him over the edge, but the slow corruption is what brought him to the edge.
6:36 "quite powerful btw, for a de-powered Aspect"
Well, I mean, sure their power is lessened, but just because they're no longer basically Gods doesn't mean they're not still masters of their respective crafts; they still have millennia of experience
That auto-caption: 1:10 "Through the eye of the DirecTV..." 😆
The Old Gods provoked Razagath into attacking, while enticing Neltharian with the offer of the void, knowing he would have to accept. This was the plan all along.
It really doesn’t feel like a noble act when Neltharion gives in. It seems more like a power grab.
He's like Azshara, someone powerful, pride and close to them, the Old Gods saw as good candidate to be corrupted and serve them or better their masters) as useful tool.
Could even be that they are behind the elementalists or at least played their role in it, maybe makig it possible that they can attack him right there and give them all the information to destroy the gauntlet - what would leave him in a position where he couldn't say no anymore, since the only alternative in this moment would be death for all his children and himself.
They clearly love to wait for such moments. It's of course only possibe to play it like that with NPC, since you can't have players fail like that (even though the majority of them would likely instantly jump in the open arms of the old lords for the next power up).
Nozdormu is just playing along, hes evil inside no cap, hes gonna betray us in the last phase when he finally achieve what he seeks
Can we call the gauntlet "The Power Glove" in honor of Nintendo?
Imo Blizzard are hinting that as Neltharion sacrificed himself to the Old Gods as an act of heroism so will Nozdormu do in order to preserve the timeline. What could happen is that Nozdormu will be given a chance not to be corrupted and give us a complete happy ending or either dying clean… yet Nozdormu knows that saving/clean sacrificing himself like this would mean the timeline would shatter and thus he will become Murozond.
I am very curious about the primalists and what is basically azerothian pre-history.
Also like the spin they put on neltharion. We can assume that he started hearing the whispers of the old gods the moment he was empowered but the fight against rasageth forced him to use their power which send him down the path of corruption, or made it faster or... Whatever, anime power corruption stuff, I dig it :)
If Neltharion felt he couldn’t get them to do what he wanted without “Order-magic” what makes Nozdormu think they can be trusted, left to their own devices?
All dragons are ruled and purposed by order magic, including Nozdormu. Maybe deathwing was an exception to this since he started falling to old god whispers we’ll before he created the dracthyr
Neltharion was under the corruption of the Old Gods by that point, he probably didn't want them as a liability that could fight against him or reveal to the other Aspects that he was already wielding the Old Gods power. I can see why Nozdormu probably wouldn't be that trusting of his fallen brother's opinion on them. Plus, time traveler, see the future, idk.
Neltharion always had trust issues, that's just part of his personality. Also, present day Nozdormu is a much older and wiser than Neltharion from umpteen thousand years ago.
They knew his secret after witnessing him void portal the primalists away.
I believe he sealed them because he was afraid they would get corrupted and the primalists when return Azeroth won't stand a chance to fight it back.
He may have locked them as a back up card once the old enemies are back they awaken to fight them again
i can't help it i love the Dracthyr they are my favorite race and class in game
I gotta wonder if Murozond messes with things to cloud Nozdormus time visions or alter what he sees as he peers into the future or past.
Another question of mine is how Neltharion frooze them in place to keep them dormaint? It was a wave of energy that terminated from behind him so I'm curious if that's another titan artifact he got his hands on? And where did he get the "infinity gauntlet"? Maybe the same place he got the titan artifact to freeze the Dracthyr? (just my speculation)
It was Malygos and his blue dragons that put the dracthyr to sleep. I think in the campaing you see blue dragons that were guarding the dracthyr.
@@Anekai-BR Ohhh really? Man where was that mentioned? I wasn't playing much at all on PTR so that's why I didn't see it. But if that's the case then why didn't Maly mention that to anyone after the fact? This was before Maly went completly crazy.
