Wonderful watching your series and passage through the Erie, Oswego and Trent Severn. Brings back memories when I moved my vessel down from Lake Simcoe to Newport RI. A lot of great people along the canal systems!!
“You’ve got to be kidding me”Haha Ollie! Such a funny doggie! Sorry to hear about your diesel cap but you two seem to be very creative in your temporary fix! As always your meals sound so yummy…I love homemade black bean burgers! Keep cruising safe!
Been really enjoying watching your travels on the Erie Canal and especially through the Oswego River locks. The ones in this video are in our community. Seeing from the river perspective is nice. Enjoy your travels!
Another great episode guys ‼️ Bummer on the fuel inlet cap. Happens. The captain certainly has a cold. You can tell by the nasal sound of his voice. Hopefully we'll be OK soon. ✨🌊💨🛥🏝🌞✨
Lots of deck time and no life jackets. The canal life is very inviting, just look at Europe and the people living on the canals. Good luck on the fuel cap replacement. Darn the bad luck. And hope the health gets better.
Wow! That sucked that you couldn't find your gas cap while going into the water to find it. I know that didn't help your cold out. The weather was pretty crappy also. Just part of boat life. 🤠
It's been a very rough week at work. But between you guys and Ollie, my rat terrier Biscuit, and Tony Fleming's explorer yacht videos about his yacht Venture, I feel relaxed and refreshed. Thanks for blessing my evenings!! Yall are awesome.
Some thing like that happened to me except it was with the bronze lid to the sea water strainer… we sent a professional diver down to dive for it but couldn’t find it in the mucky bottom. The first replacement I ordered ($$ priority shipping) was the wrong size and then finally got the right size (more $$ priority shipping)… But in the meantime I had to MacGyver a temporary fix that was pretty leaky just to start and run the engines… then had to make sure the seacock was closed any time the boat was stopped. Ughhh…feel for you!
We didn't test, but looking back it definitely was possible! This was back during Omicron times where a lot of people got Covid. Fortunately this was the last day I was sick!!
Battery powered drill, keys, sunglasses, bait table...all dropped and donated to Neptune. Were you able to get just a replacement cap that matched, or did you have to replace the entire fitting? Odd that non of those you tried matched. Were the threads metric?
I thought it was odd at first, then I remembered its a boat so of course nothing is simple 😁 I had to replace the entire fitting! Going to show it in a future vlog.
We’re new to cruise boating. How do you know where to stop to get gas and a pump out, etc? Is there an app to show you which marinas offer which services? Thank you!
Hi Amy! Welcome to the community! Yes, most people use Active Captain (crowd sourced info, owned by garmin) for finding those things. You can see them online here: activecaptain.garmin.com/en-US/Map . For fuel there are other options, like the waterway guide which we used a lot too. We use the app Navionics which has all our maps for boating, and this information built in. If you are interested in other apps, check this article out and feel free to ask any questions in general 😁 schoandjo.com/marine-navigation-apps/
How come you don’t use your boat shower. I added a 20 gallon water heater to my boat and I also have a continuous hot water diesel water heater for eternal hot water showers (when I’m on dock water). I carry 150 gallons of fresh water. Your boat is very comfortable I imagine and can do the same???
Two reasons, 1) we wanted to go on the most traveled route since this is our first Loop and 2) We've heard that Canada includes some of the most beautiful cruising Cheers!

ps, I bought replacement caps from a marine salvage yard and keep them in the spare parts bin!!!
I believe the "clams" on the lock walls are actually "zebra mussels"
Enjoying your trip, thanks!
That’s exactly what they are and they are running havoc on the Great Lakes. They plug water intakes.
Yea! Pretty crazy, we've learned a lot about those pests over the course of the Great Lakes and mid-west Rivers. Very interesting!
Definitely zebra mussels
@@Marauder92Vyep, Zebra mussels definitely

That’s right, just part of the life!
i love that you guys practice without the bow thrusters! But Ollie needs to step up her game!
Seriously!
It never fails on the cap
Jenn,
In the Navy that shower you are talking about is a "Hollywood".
Great video.
haha neat, thanks Jeffrey!

Aww thanks Will! We are glad that you are getting some escape out of our videos. Also, pups for the win! Ollie always brightens our day too 😁
Hi...Awesome video.. Even with the rain it looked calm.....
Yes it's Zebra Mussels they are sharp....😢🇨🇦
Thanks for watching Karen 😁
I feel your pain with the cap...
Tomorrow is another day.
Thats right!
Lucky to have a good cook on board!
Absolutely! Jen taught me how to cook, in fact 😁

Haha wow... that sounds like the epitome of a boat project. Glad you got it resolved, sometimes it can be a real challenge!
Have you looked into the Trent Severn waterway. Takes you from lake Ontario to Georgian Bay. Very Cool!!!!
It will be coming up soon 😎
Sorry about losing the cap. Did you ever test for COVID? Your cold is unfortunately persistent.
Another great episode, thanks

Get some isopropanol for your fuel tank , it'll mix with any water and burn through
Thanks for the tips!
I think those are zebra muscles!?
Howes deisel additive
Poor Ollie. LOL
haha

We do! We just spend a lot of time out of Marinas and therefore are very water conscious.
@@SchoandJo oh. Ok.
Oswego has four types of weather: it's raining, it's snowing, it's going to rain, it's going to snow.
Would a wood bung be helpful as a temporary cap
Maybe! That's a pretty good idea, we actually had one on board for a thru-hole, it might have fit and sealed it well enough.
Too bad you didn’t take the western leg of the Erie Canal. I lived near the canal and there are a lot of small towns along the canal.
Nice, can't do it all unfortunately! It gives us a great reason to come back 🤙
Those are the invasive species zebra mussels.
Watching from Kerala, India. ❤️ Hope you will visit our lush, green tropical paradise one day.
Absolutely will come back to India, and won't miss Kerala!
Why did you guys choose not to go on to the western portion of The Erie Canal?
Two reasons,
1) we wanted to go on the most traveled route since this is our first Loop and
2) We've heard that Canada includes some of the most beautiful cruising

SOLD!!!!! ding ding ding!!!!! You guys are good. Will you have to go through the Trent Severn Waterway? I read you boat has a max beam of 23 feet
