Another thing to note. Most of the actresses represented were not C grade cable actresses. They were legitimate stars of the stage and screen.
C grade you are being to kind to busy knickers she been round the block more times than the ice cream van.
They were and some still are.
True!! And some of them considered as "queens" in their genres... Madonna queen of Pop, Marilyn Monroe queen of sex appeal, Meryl Streep, a queen in Hollywood. Confident, successful ladies with no inferiority or superiority complexes, well resolved and well established.
Yes, and therefore probably had much more confidence in themselves and their own achievements. However, even an average, woman can have respect and give respect when it is due. The only ones that don't want to do this are disrespectful heathens with no moral compass.
Meghan Markle is a z-list cable TV actress in Canada, who never made it in Hollywood. She's a nobody, her only accomplishment was snagging a nitwit husband.
They are not just bowing to the Queen, they are showing respect to the nation and people that HRH represents.
A very thoughtful and true comment, the respect is not to the person but to the Office held. I would remind you though that HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) is how you would refer to a Prince or Princess. HM (His/Her Majesty) is how you would correctly refer to the Monarch. .King or Queen.
I don’t owe your nation respect and could care less if you respect my nation. Why do I care what you think 😂? I would NEVER bow to anyone unless they were also bowing to me.
@@twoofsix3b3g no one gives an f about being respectful to your monarchy. Seriously- no one but old brits. And I mean OLD.
You seriously think the world’s population owes your colonizing monarch respect? We all have free will to show respect to who we think deserves it. Your monarchy does not deserve my respect or a bow. Get over it. In fact I love the fact all your panties get in a knot when someone refuses to bow. Ask yourself- why would any nation (especially commonwealth) WANT to show respect to your pathetic old colonizing idols?
Louis Rocha, Bow, curtsy. Do what you feel. I don't care who represents who. I represent me myself and I. No I will never bow down to anyone ever. Do it yourself though.
It's not a curtsy to a queen or a king. It's a curtsy to the British Monarch. It's being culturally appropriate, respectful, having manners.

I think the video mix of American and British stars curtseying to our late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, shows, beautifully, that American ladies know how to curtsey just as well as their British counterparts....and they certainly do!
Not all these women are American, but the message is fantastic. You don’t have to agree or understand the culture, you just have to respect it. Every person knows that
Exactly!
When I lived in Hong King, everyone bowed their head in a half-curtsy in any greeting. It soon became a habit - and a lovely way to honor anyone you meet.
The culture? This queen is not my queen.
Except Harry’s wife
@@m.s.9786the position is due respect…as with any head of state
@@m.s.9786 so? Why not curtsy to show respect to her as an individual and for all that she has done as the monarch of her country. In my culture, we bless our elders (act of putting their hands on our forehead as a sign of respect) and in others they bow, you don't have to be a part of their culture just to show respect.
This is called respect, just respect. Those who did it had CLASS!

Classless ..hurry come up.. bad breed....what do you expect. Harry first wife. .. dispicable.
As an American woman who never even knew who Meghan markle was and never even heard of suits- which was only aired on the basic cable networks- I was absolutely horrified when she said “I mean Americans will get this, dinner and a tournament, it was like that and I curtsied as if it was like…” her saying that just shows how she thinks Americans are unintelligent as she thinks the British are. I’m an American and I’m only twenty something and I know to meet the queen is a massive deal and I’d know that I need to curtesy and if I don’t know how I’d better learn. Why didn’t she ask her husband for help if she needed it so badly? She is pathetic and she is offensive.
MM was given help, through 2 senior court ladies assigned by the Queen to teach her all she needed to know about Royal protocol, but she rejected it. She simply didn’t want to learn.
Well said. She made it sound like all Americans are as clueless as her.
As a Brit I was horrified when she said that. I mean who the hell does she think she is? Rude towards the UK and rude towards fellow Americas. Even Harry did it when he said "how somyou explain you have to curtsy to an American" what?! They're made for each other
Seriously, you all know Meghan?
@@angeladumbuya1609 we know her type, yes.
Just to clear it up for all those horrified Americans - As a Brit (and an unapologetic monarchist), we all know you don't HAVE to bow or curtsy to her (now his) Majesty. No-one HAS to. It's simply respect and courtesy. The fact all these ladies did, shows the respect they had for The Queen. May she rest in peace.

The thing is, it is not necessary or required for non -Brits to curtsy to UK Royalty. However, it demonstrates an added level of respect, and I think it's beautiful!.
I disagree. It shows lack of respect to our own country. No thank you. I will not act as though I am subject to another country's monarch.

Their courtesy made them even greater American women. Respect to them all.
I love this would like to courtesy also . It is such an honor .
These great actresses do it with such grace and dignity!
Then, according to Megan. People in América do not understand medieval times???
Actually, no. Americans are literally not required to curtsy. It goes with being American. We fought a whole war about it. This is one of the things we don't have to do. And I cringe to see the Presidents' wives do it, as it's a subservience thing, and in representing America, they really really shouldn't because we're not subservient. Again, fought a whole war -- actually whole two wars over the issue.
An individual American may choose to curtsy or bow anyway because they're choosing to show respect to a world leader, and many of us have a fondness towards Queen Elizabeth II. It only really looks bad in President/their wives who are of equivalent stature and performing a representative function.
Megan as an American doesn't have to curtsy. But she also doesn't have to marry a prince who has official functions to perform and is subservient to his grandmother. You want to join a family, you incorporate some of their culture into your family, or you separate from them entirely. The Royal Family, is a very high bar. You want to join them, they have a family business that you are going to be part of as a package in the marriage. So yes, you probably really should curtsy to the head of the family, among other things, if you want the marriage to succeed.
@@jenniferhanses7064
From a British viewpoint, I agree with you entirely that it is not appropriate for the wife of a President, or a female President of the US to curtsy to the Queen. It is a matter of protocol, and because of US History, it ought not be done.
But on the other hand, a regular US citizen loses nothing by dropping a formal curtsy if she chooses.
AS for Meghan, the curtsy wasn't about the Queen being "head of the family". She was the Head of State- the state which Meghan had moved into, and whose tights and privileges she was taking on, in her marriage. .
I can't imagine Markle comprehending regard and respect for other cultures and the importance of being cultured.

What a wonderful montage showing beautiful, accomplished ladies with decorum.
You say it right... "The greatest American Women" 👑
Except Shirley Bassey was born in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.
and Natasha Richardson was born in London UK, and Vivien Leigh.......
Whats so great about them? Because there in movies and bow to a murderous dynasty
The likes of which Meg will never be..
And Joan Collins is from England
They may have had manners, but I wouldn’t call them great !!!
My word even crazy Grace Jones 😮
She actually looked the most genuinely, absolutely delighted - which took me by surprise too.
She really needs to see this video!!!!!
BRILLIANT 👏👏👏
this video tells A LOT !!!!
I love this clip. We all know Rachel is no where in the league if these famous women who reflect Her Majesty😊
Not even close to the same ballpark
This is a treasured video!! Thank you for posting this 👏♥️
All were beautiful, but Vivien Leigh’s two curtsies were perfect! She was perfect!
Oh God, Julie Andrews, what a beautiful human being
She is as close to Royal as any human being can get, without being born royal. Notice Dame Julie curtsies to Princess Anne and the Princess Royal immediately smiles and says something like, "You don't have to curtsy to me" (but I'm sure appreciates the sign of respect). I like to think Dame Julie responds with a sentiment such as, "Your Royal Highness, I honour and respect the Royal Family."
Big mike curtsied in his dress....still waiting for a pic of a pregnant mike 😂😂😂
It's called class.
They all look stunning, elegant, gorgeous... other than a sign of respect, the curtsy is such a beautiful, graceful gesture....💗
Sheer elegance, each and every one of them.
Extremely accomplished ladies all show the Queen her Respect!! Migraine your not even close to being a Z list anything
Hello Maryann, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
I like Joan Crawford’s curtsy the most. Very elegant.
This is called RESPECT♥️✨
The wanta bea ,,,,,,,,, Megan as she calls her self ,,,,,,,doesn,t Know the meaning of the words respect ,class , manners decorum dignity elegance or charm ,,,,,,,This confirms that you Megs will never be anything but a '"" wanta bea D grade understudy low grade actress ,,,, You havn,t the ability to perform a simple bob,,,,,
No it isn’t. Respect goes both ways. If this was respect the queen would bow in return. To bow to another is to say they are above you- that ain’t respect.
@@allytrudie864 if respect my king, and he doesn’t even know me, it is still my respect to my king. Respect doesn’t have to be both ways. Beyonce doesn’t have to respect me, but I respect her. Even if it doesn’t go both ways, I could still respect someone. The people in the clip show respect to the Queen.
@@allytrudie864 The Queen smiled back with a nod, that's her showing respect. The monarch, the president represents a nation, they don't bow to anyone easily
They did it gracefully Markle looked like she was bowing to the Goblin King
Jackie Kennedys neat little dip was my favourite
I think it’s very courteous and respectful. Remember in Victorian times, ladies and gentlemen would bow and curtsy to each other. In places like Japan and China, people still do.
