Jon ... the last video on sweep picking was off the charts. I've been trying this technique for years and not quite getting there. Only parcial results. I've tried your method and I'm so impressed with the instant results is almost like it was the missing piece to finally nail this technique that has eluded me for decades . Can't say thank you enough and anyone who reads this I'm not joking it works. Sorry that this message is not about this video is just that I wanted to thank you and let you know how much all this is appreciated

Jon - again... incredible video, If you want to add captions, RUclips has a much less invasive method - these are very distracting IMO.

WOW...It's amazing how much I have always turned my wrist at a slight angel (Never Noticed in over 20 years)....It's a little trying at first but I already see how this is going to improve my playing just after a few minute of keeping my finger aligned with the frets! Amazing!!!!!! I am so glad I caught you on Ola's Channel by chance really! The little things! :) Thank you so much!!!!

your tip 3, my step dad showed me how to play the guitar like that when I was 16 lol and i stooped doing sclaes got in the piano 2 years ago now i am trying to buy my first electric guitar,
i was doing scales visiting on my acoustic , and he told me that I should do it like that, and I told him hes an idiot and left.
thank you for confirming, I thik that comes from classical condition , coming from Playing betterr Legato , and Rubato or something IDk
Maybe some 80's class on economy of motion, even then I have never seen this technique mentioned, you would think that
if you wwere doing 3 NPS OR Positions that this would be the first thing brought up but it's not.
I think its more for conditioning of muscle memory since you're playing playing slowly , for this Chromatic positon when you're first taught . IDk I AM DYING to find out.
you'r ehonestly are the first person i have seen to ever even talking about it I have been looking for so long on what it's even called besides stupid.
I have looked at legato playing maybe Its called Piano guitar technique haha. IDK?

Decades of playing and thinking I was enhancing my technique with “tricks” I thought were enhancing my playing has been inhibiting the development of my technique. I swear every time I watch one of John’s videos learn something that has ultimately promised my technique after forcing myself to use the technique until I find I’m doing it without thinking. Jon… if I create a Time Machine I’m being my 14 year old 🫏 to modern times so I can take a few years of lessons. If you’re a young guitarist and you’re serious about being a guitarist then go mow some lawns or ask pops what you need to do to get a membership dude.

Amazing lesson , should the left hand be in line with the elbow or is a small angle allowed? Do you also keep your 2nd and 3nd fingers in line with the frets when playing on higher frets (let's say 12 and higher) ? thank you very much!🙂

      Thank you!
Just make sure you're not doing something that's unnatural for your body, if you can keep it as ergonomic as possible you'll avoid injury in the long run.
It depends on how I'm sitting and how high up on the fretboard I am and what I'm playing. In an ideal world I'd try to keep it the same but it definitely gets trickier up there.

This is why I crap out on 9's. I play aggressively and knock the note out of tune more times than not. Though when I get it right I liked the sound. So for now sticking with 10's or above

Use 10-46 as well, but really make sure that I don't overdo it with the pressure since it adds up.
