Had a fjr 1300, nice bike. By the way I didn't get nicked speeding, nothing came in the post😊. I'm more than happy with my k1600, nothing can touch on performance and power on a touring bike. Safe riding dude.👍
I own a 2012 gtl that now has approximately 62,000 miles or 99,000 kilometers. Love the motorcycle because it’s the best riding experience of all motorcycles I’ve owned. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Brought my k1600 from Balderstone in 2015. Had a pan 1300, great bike but weren't going to update. The revised goldwing no, I'm not ready for the armchair yet. Love the k1600, just missed out on reverse. What a machine. Great video dude.😁👍
Wow! Thanks for your feedback because I'm ready to sell my Sportster for a Touring bike and the K1600 BMW was my first pick, a Goldwing 1800 and Maybe another Harley or a Massive Triumph Rocket 3!
Really enjoyable review. You didn't mention what happened to the end of the clutch lever and 6 years of ownership and one fog light still doesn't work. I'm now one of your 75K subscribers.
Ah yes, the bit about the clutch ended up on the cutting room floor. Prior to converting my entire back garden into a motorcycle shed, all the bikes had to squeeze into the 'garage' (if that's what you can call it with these new builds. They don't actually fit cars in them whilst retaining the ability to open the car doors). Unfortunately, whilst pulling out the Triumph, its front 'scaffolding' caught the tip of the clutch lever and snapped it off. I think the clutch lever is made of chocolate. Regarding the fog light, I'm way too disorganised to fix myself. So I've left it for the BMW servicing department to spot it and fix it. After six years, evidently, fog lights do not form part of the maintenance checklists and can't be a requirement for the MOTs. This is only a bit of fun, I like the people at the service department. Thanks for subscribing!
Great review, this inline 6 is butter smooth, it’s unbelievable. I test drove the 2023 model today, K1600 GT. In 2 minutes I felt right at home, and I’ve never been on a BMW bike before, the sales person recommended I run out the 350 kilometres of gas the tank had left 😂. I wish but no way, since they had taken my visa before the test drive, just in case something was to happen. I have never, ever, in the past 18 years of riding motorcycles rode one without the proper moto GP outfit/gear. Frankly, I could not believe the sales person utter the words,” I wish you can test drive the bike but you have no helmet.” I was like what! But this is the best motorcycle and motorcycle gear store in the country 🇨🇦 . So after 15 minutes I was hooked, on the highway I felt like I was on a jetski, the bike is so planted, effortless and it was on rain mode. It had rained a few prior, just to get to the store, it was a 150 kilometre drive for me. So I could not turn down his welcoming offer. So easy to ride, I honestly felt the nimbleness of my Gxsr 750 and beyond the power of my 109R. Just superior in every way. Smooth like Michael jackson moonwalk, like the,” Luke, I’m you father 🤣. Wow just amazing. The one think I didn’t Ike was when a trelease the throttle, I felt some kind of engine braking. That I found weird. I assume it was because of the mode I was on. Ride safe everyone. I pray to God one day I can get the 2023 model GLT, for the wife and I.
Enjoyed your video on k1600. Got mine in 2015, 1200 miles on the clock when purchased. Big service around a grand this year, not the cheapest bike to have. Another down side is your license, unfortunately i got caught a week ago, waiting on that letter through the post😟 third time in 6 years. Had a pan for years if they had continued the bike i would of probably got one. Goldwing i want to try but a big old bike and expensive to buy. Never had issues with using oil. Thought i might change the windscreen when carrying pilons get a lot of buffeting. But hay what a bike, i love it. Ride safe dude. 👍😁
Has BMW addressed any of the mechanical issues in the newer models 23 & 24 year bikes. Crazy that such a good looking machine has so many issues. Although my HD has 23,000 miles on it had to replace the inner primary seal a $20 part but it cost me $760 bucks in labor due to the fact the entire left side of the primary has to come off. I’d imagine if you’re handy with a wrench a lot of the mechanical stuff can be done at home.
I've had my 2012 GTL for almost three years now. I've had a faulty ignition coil, a leaky water pump (just stain on the heat shield, no where near causing me any trouble), a cam chain rattle, and oil consumption (0.3~0.4L every 1000 miles). I still love this bike every time I go on a thousand-mile trip.
I've been a cruiser guy for nearly 20 years now, and I've been looking at getting a more comfortable long-haul type bike. Several years ago I had a friend of mine, a motorcycle state policeman, mention he would get a BMW if he had his pick. My in-laws have been long term Goldwing riders. I've watched several videos on the K1600, but this video has convinced me. Time to get away from the good ol' American V Twin and upgrade. Besides, my middle aged body is getting too old to take all the bumps nowadays. Thanks for the good content! By the way, the blurring of the speedo is a good editing trick, lol!

Great review. I appreciate your honesty and enthusiasm. I fancied a K1600 but finally opted for a 2018 FJR1300 which is awesome. Nice twisty roads you were riding. I recognised Kimbolton. What other places did you pass through? Is that a Simon Weir route you followed? Safe riding dude.
Thanks for the comment. The route was predominantly the B645. Arrived at Kimbolton from Huntingdon across to Abbots Ripton, Sawtry, Glatton, and Catworth. Turned right at Kimbolton and went up to the A6 & turned back to Kimbolton, then turned off towards Graffham at Staughton.
I was definitely gonna buy a k1600, then I started worrying about the associated cost of a BMW, I've always like the Kawasaki Concours, and the Yamaha FJR. What did I get? A Yamaha Super Tenere! 😂 And I love it! But I still lust after the BMW... What to do....
I had a 2017 model. It ised oil so the dealer changed the engine and 4 thousand miles later the gearbox went on it . Clunky gears and electrical problems were enough for me so i bought a 2019 goldwing . 19000 miles later and everything still works . It doesnt use oil its not had any warranty work done and they go and handle better than you think . Apple carplay and android auto work as they should and so does the biluilt in sat nav . I had a K1200 for 10 years, and loved it. The engine was like an electric motor, quiet, smooth and pulled in any gear. It sounds like the K1600 engine is similar.
The biggest mistake I had made is buying the GA, new back in 18. I wanted to love this machine and nothing but issues, once I reached 15K on her. Damn...man. How many times should I run to the dealer in one season? If its not sensors and engine light, its reverse issue and recalls and shutting down while riding and on top of that, the bike was horrible wobbling hitting DIRTY AIR. No wonder why they limited the speed on her. I just had enough. The head mechanic at BMW had told me that they can be finicky, at times. Thank God I had coverage. Sold it and bought a new Goldwing Tour. This Wing is incredible and cheaper.

Thanks for that comment. And yes, the bike has had more than I expect in issues and, having 6 cylinders, it's not cheap to run. All forgiven by me for the ride experience.
What you pointed was an oil radiator, so water cooled bike was overheating due to oil radiator damage, sorry but it sounds weird to me. Apologies for the confusion. The water radiator required replacing not the oil radiator. The dealership advised the need to replace it. I was surprised they advised it couldn't just be cleaned.
