Awesome!! I’ll be 50 in few months, so we probably share a lot of similar memories about cruising around in our bikes back on the day. I love cruising around my current neighborhood on these big versions today ❤️
Do it! Every time I take out my Redline PL26, those childhood feelings of freedom and joy come rushing back. It's priceless. I also have a Monza 27.5 on order.
If it wasnt for your channel and Cruusing the 808, I would have not found this bike! I ordered mine on Friday! I cant wait! It was my birthday on 8/11 turned 49! Your channel is Awsome!! Thank you for all the information and sharing it with us!
Hi David, Happy Birthday!!! You’re about a month older than me 😎 I’m a big fan of Kevin and Bernie too! Please let us know how you like the bike. How fun!!! 👍
Awesome bike, especially for the money. My 20” BMX’s are just too small for my 51 year old knees now. Wonderful childhood memories of spending the whole weekend out with my mates on our bikes. Love the idea behind this company. I’ve just ordered mine.
After years of youtubers saying “Oh I am sure i am butchering this name…” thanks for looking up the correct pronunciation of Tange. I have an old Tony Hawk 24” bmx my kids affectionately call the Dog Bike, because it’s the safest bike to ride with our Black Lab. Looks like an upgrade to a Monza is in order
So that's what those little black pieces on the brake levers are for! We had no clue they were for either caliper or v-brakes! Great build video explaining the entire process!
Thanks Kevin! Not quite as entertaining as watching you and Bernie chat as you work on your bikes, but I figured that I might as well film the build process. I’m still blown away by how well these are padded up and protected inside the box. 🤯
Just bought one a few minutes ago ! I can't wait so stoked!! Im usually into erides but this bike made me go back to old school style and no battery just Flintstone style 😂 2024 version coming second half of 2024 going to buy a white version too lol😂 maybe black too😂 bikes look sick !!! Smiling and getting exercise same time cant go wrong !!!
Dude!!!! That’s so awesome 🙌 Flinstone style, I love it 😂 You’re right about smiling and exercising at the same time. So much fun. You’re gonna love it 👊
Good fun! I still ride my '84 Haro Freestyle (currently w/ 20" Z-Rims - the Skyway Tuff's are retired from a hard life👍). I enduro mountain bike race now, but I'm always looking for cool new toys to hit the bike parks, or just rip around on. I'll have to check out the Monza! Keep doing what you do 😁👍‼️
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement! It’s awesome that you still have your old Haro! And super awesome that you’re still racing MTB today. So cool 😎
Sweet! I love my Monza too! So much fun. I like the way it feels after riding my other bikes. Feels more 80's. I guess it's because the cranks are straight, and not flared out like all my other bikes. GT power series cranks might be straight too though. I'll have to go ride it to see. Haha. Have fun!
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve got power series cranks on my GT too and they are similar enough in shape/size as the Monza ones. For the Monza bikes, I just think they really nailed the geometry to give that old school feel in a bigger bike. When they say, “Your BMX all grown up”, they aren’t exaggerating with a catchy phrase… they nailed it perfectly 👊🏼
Great video, I used to race BMX back in the 80’s, had a GT Performer in the early 2000’s but broke my wrist so took up road riding, then had a few near misses with buses and lorries so it’s been on a turbo trainer for the past 3-4 years, recently been looking to get back out doors and think a cruiser is the ideal candidate and the Monza looks amazing 🤩
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I think a BMX cruiser would be perfect for your situation, and I don’t think you could go wrong with a Monza! If you do get a cruiser, please consider coming back with a comment on what you decided to go with and what you think about it 👍🏼
Thanks for explaining the MX-2 brake levers. I might need a set. I have a back V brake, I want to add a 990 front, preferably without running 2 different levers.
Putting together a skyway ta 24 inch. I’m using your spreadsheet that you designed. (Thank you for that!) it’s been a big help coming back into bmx at the ripe age of 52:). I plan to use this bike for fitness and just adding a different avenue of exercise. I decided to go with the pro sized bars on this. Do you feel that larger bars on a 24 inch have disadvantages as opposed to cruiser style bars. (Weight distribution/balance etc?) I want to ride fairly aggressively.
Awesome! Those 24” Skyways are so rad!!! 🤩 This 24” Monza has taller bars and they feel good. I’m not a huge fan of low cruiser bars myself. So personally, I’d go pro bars. But different brands have different sizes, so the Skyway cruiser bars might be taller than other brands.
The closest thing to what you describe is the Race Inc RA24-R. It’s cheaper, but cuts corners on things like the cranks, unsealed bottom bracket, single wall rims, etc.
Love the video. Tbh, I’ve been trying to buy one from Monza, but they’ve been outta stock for months. For now, I went with a Dyno, but when they re-up, I’m in.
Awesome. Those Dynos are cool too. 🙌 My understanding is that Monza will be restocking later this year. Can’t believe August is just about here already 🤯
Awesome, we’re close in age so we’re probably looking for the same thing. As we speak, I’m working on a video of my experiences taking it up to the pump track for the first time. Spoiler alert, this bike is freaking awesome at the pump track. Even as a first timer, it was so much fun!!! They do not include great assembly instructions in the box, but luckily it’s super easy and intuitive. If you didn’t watch my entire video hear, take a second look as I pretty much went through the process in the video. It comes 80% assembled out of the box. You just need to install the front wheel, add the seat/post, install the handlebars, and then attach the brake cables to the levers, and tighten the stem. After that, maybe some fine tuning. But it’s really easy. I’m happy to answer any questions if you need more info.
That's Rad!! I'm 46 and worked at bike shops until I was like 30... so I had access to all the cool shit at a discount. In like 1992? I found a NOS 1987 pink/chrome Schwinn Predator Free-Form Pro frame/fork in the dregs of the shop I worked at. I built that thing so tits-out for the time... Profile 3 pc cranks, ACS rotor, Peregrine handlebar, 48 spoke wheels with Peregrine hubs, etc.... I sold it when I went to college and blew all my cash on a new Schwinn Homegrown Factory Suspension XT mountain bike.... Please Shoot Me!!!.... regrets.
Dang, having access to bikes at a shop discount for so long, I'd have spent way too much of my paychecks there. 🤑 That Predator sounds amazing, and I hear you about the regrets about losing it. I never had a super valuable BMX in the 80s, but I did eventually get an 87 Dyno D-Tour. My parents sold it in a garage sale when I was off in college. They probably got like $15 for. I'm still bummed out about that. But I bet you loved riding your MTB in college! I got a middle of the road Mongoose Rockodile MTB back in 1993. It came LX parts, but I eventually swapped most of them out for XT. It had nice, agressive geometry. I miss that bike too. LOL. Note to self... never sell a bike again. 🤣
Thanks for the video! May I ask your height? I think it's important for sizing and haven't heard you mention it in any videos related to BMX. I'm 5' 8" and looking at 24" wheels.
The tioga comp 3 style tires are alright in dirt but not so good on street. If you’re not going with a full smooth tire might I suggest the maxxis snyper? For a 65 psi tire honestly just perfect if your session is dirt and street in the same day. So far my favourite tires on my 24 by far
Yes, they are still open for business. They do much smaller batches than a lot of the big brands but have more batches coming soon. Coincidentally, if you check their socials, today, they just announced a new 27.5” model coming up for preorders soon. Sounds like they’ll have announcements for the 24” and 26” restocks soon. Exciting times for Monza!
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Many thanks for the detailed response. Very helpful! I'm across the pond in the UK and would probably be buying the Monza 24" in a heartbeat if it was on show in my local bike shop, haha! I may end up having to look at other brands because US shipping prices are typically crazy nowadays plus our Government adds an additional 20% import duty. I'm not keen buying one of the now corporate brands from my childhood (I'm a similar age to yourself) but know nothing of which are the good quality brands of today. Are there brands of similar quality to Monza who are perhaps a little larger insofar as their international distribution network?
Thanks! The stand is a Park Tool PCS-10. I bought it about 5 years ago for around $125. It’s been discontinued and replaced with PCS-10.3 and is much more expensive after all the inflation in recent years. It’s a fantastic stand though. www.parktool.com/en-us/product/home-mechanic-repair-stand-pcs-10
I'm about 6' 1" Tall. 205lbs... Do you think the 24" will fit me? I want something to pull off jumps and tricks with? I've only ever ridden a 20"..... 26" seems more like a cruiser... Whats your opinion on that? Thanks
I’m about 5’11” and 200lbs, and the 24” fits me well. It would probably be comfortable for you too. If you’re seriously interested in jumps and tricks, you may get want to look at a 22” with a longer top tube. The 24” is a nice middle ground between a bigger cruiser and a smaller bike. Way more comfortable than my 20”, but not as great for long rides like on my 26”. The 24” is perfect for me at the pump track, and a little more lively riding around the neighborhood. I LOVE my 24” Monza, But if I was serious about jumps and tricks, I’d build up a 22” ATF from S&M. www.sandmbikes.com/product/hardgoods/frames/atf-frame-for-22-wheel/
Great video! What's your height? I always hated pedals with reflectors (and them in general) but this bike makes them look good, I guess. :) I have to get my hands on this bike. I still have my 1986 Hutch Trickstar 20". Too small for my 50-year-old body.
Thanks for the feedback! I’m 5’10” Haha, on the reflectors… but you can easily pop them off from these pedals. They’re just held in by friction. Yeah, the 24” is definitely more comfortable than a 20” at our age. I’m still loving this bike 👍
Looks nice, I'm not particularly a fan of chrome, much prefer the old school pastel colors, but I'm really considering this 24". I have a couple of GT Performers 20" but its hard on my old knees so I don't use them as much as I would like.
I love the 80s colors too, but I haven’t had chrome bike since my crappy Murray bike as a kid, so I thought it be fun to go with a classic. Yes, the 24” is so much more comfortable for me to ride than the 20” bikes. I think you’ll love the size. 👊
If you're interested in just cruising around the neighborhood and long ride outs, then I'd say go with 26" or the upcoming Monza 27.5". If you're looking to mostly ride shorter distances, ride at the pump track, more agressive riding, tricks, etc. then I'd go with the 24" size. It's sort of like cars, do you want as smaller, less comfortable sports car that is faster and more responsive, or do you want something more comfortable like a mini-van or sedan for those longer road trips? 👍
Hi! Monza makes 24” and 26”, but not a 22”. Personally, if I was going to get a 22”, I’d purchase an S&M ATF frame and build up a custom bike, but I know there are some good complete 22” bikes from companies like Fit.
It looks pretty good in reference to all the quality workmanship, better than some others, I use to ride a Ross bmx bike, sadly Ross went out of business in 1989.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m not too familiar with Ross. I didn’t know anyone who had one back in the day, so I never got a chance to see one.
You can order online at monzabmx.com/collections/24-bmx-bikes They’ll be restocking the colored ones, but the chrome ones like mine are still available
I wish you could too! I’m about to turn 50, my kids are mostly grown now, and since I’ve been frugal most of my life, I’m finally in a financial position to afford a few of the things I envied when I was younger. 😊
Dudes, you can afford this bike because I just put one on order for 2025 and gets shipped in March, which is my 52nd birthday, Im super hyped on this bike which is the Gold and black mags, plus they have payment plans for monthly installments. So believe me, after I saw this video and gave it some thought I said why the hell not? So I pulled the trigger tonight and not regretting it one bit. Im not a big spender, but, this bike is making the inner kid in me happy.
I've noticed that the tire pressure is greater than that of a car's tire pressure. I bet it's because a bike's tire is WAY thinner than that of a car's tire.
That’s an interesting insight. Yes, you’re probably right. The bike tires need to be lighter, so the rubber is thinner and needs more air pressure to provide adequate support.
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Something about pressure = force/area. The thin bicycle tire has small area. Dividing by a small number equals a large answer.
Nice bike! But that seat/post arrangement makes the bike almost useless for anyone that wants to to have some real fun. Still dropping you a Like though. Good video.👍
Not too sure about the integrity of monza. Hurried and pre-ordered the gold 24 as they were limited to 50. Since it sold out so fast, they are releasing 50 more. Took the point out of limited to 50!
Hi Rob, we stand by this decision 100%. Demand has been through the roof and we are here to make customers happy. Our integrity is backed by more than +1000 5 star reviews and by making great products. 100 bikes worldwide is still - by all measures - considered a VERY limited edition. All bikes are individually numbered and the guys who ordered one of the first 50 bikes will get one in the GMONZ 101-150 range and the guys who order one of the 50 added bikes will get one in the GMONZ 151-200 range. We look forward to deliver your bike in March and hope it will bring you a lot joy💪💪

Monza is a city in Italy, and it’s home of mainland Europe’s first auto racing track, built in 1922. I assume Monza BMX’s name is a nod to the city’s racing history.
Instead of getting that, I'd rather spend money on getting a 26" DJ bike ; a bit pricier but DJ bikes have better build and handling because of a lower bottom bracket position...Adult BMX is such a bad idea, tbh
Thanks for watching and commenting. It’s good to hear from various perspectives because not every bike is best for every situation and every rider. Really depends on the terrain you want to ride and how aggressive you want to be. It’s cool that you found a style that clearly works well for you 👍🏼
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood I'm not really up to riding style when I commented regarding it....If you do a little research, having a lower bottom bracket position, will give you a lower center of gravity, meaning the bike will become more stable in turns and when braking. A good bike is a bike with proper geometry no matter how cheap it is.

@@user-ms6id6hw8e “Murray Moves You Faster” 🤣
They have a new gold anniversary edition . I so wish it wasn’t so expensive. It’s almost $2000.
The gold 24” shipping this spring is $1,395. Not cheap, but if you have the means… 😎
Awesome thanks
Right on!!! 👍
Where could I find a used one for sale?
Occasionally, they pop up on the Monza owners group on Facebook. m.facebook.com/groups/220324792421364/
Im 6 ft question is what size a 24 or 26 ?
If you're interested in just cruising around the neighborhood and long ride outs, then I'd say go with 26" or the upcoming Monza 27.5". If you're looking to mostly ride shorter distances, ride at the pump track, more agressive riding, tricks, etc. then I'd go with the 24" size. It's sort of like cars, do you want as smaller, less comfortable sports car that is faster and more responsive, or do you want something more comfortable like a mini-van or sedan for those longer road trips? 👍
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood think I'm go get a 26 broski
Awesome Bike - is there a 22 inch one out there?
Hi! Monza makes 24” and 26”, but not a 22”. Personally, if I was going to get a 22”, I’d purchase an S&M ATF frame and build up a custom bike, but I know there are some good complete 22” bikes from companies like Fit.
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood thanks for the tip, I will check out the S&M ATF frame I could use a long term project!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!!! 🙌🙌🙌
How do i get one...
You can order online at monzabmx.com/collections/24-bmx-bikes They’ll be restocking the colored ones, but the chrome ones like mine are still available
Wish I could afford this bike.
So believe me, after I saw this video and gave it some thought
I said why the hell not?
😮
😎
Nice bike! But that seat/post arrangement makes the bike almost useless for anyone that wants to to have some real fun. Still dropping you a Like though. Good video.👍
Thanks!
This is one of the reasons I love Monza so much, meeting and engaging with us whereever we're at. 🙌
Well...guess what I just bought today!?
Yess!!!! 🙌 You’re gonna love it. 👊

Toss that front brake
Why?
No way, front brakes rule.
Is Monza a Japanese word? Definition?
Why is adult BMX a bad idea?
It's not, nothing wrong at all.
It will never be TunGay. It will always be TANGE. Pronounced like flange.
No worries, say it how you wish. 👍
How tall are you?
I’m 5’10” and this bike is a perfect fit!
