Thank for the review! Not picking up this one since I already got the last Arrow released. I think companies like Arrow, Kino Lorene, and Shout Factory should just release movies straight to 4K Blu-ray instead of release them a few months or a year after initial release in Blu-ray! This is one big reason why people stop buying physical media. Music companies did the same with CD. What happen to CD now?

    • @nicholassutcliffe7173

I recently ordered the 4K Limited Ed on Amazon and mistakenly got BR Ed so I watched it, returned it, and got the 4K Ed… I have to somewhat disagree with Jeff here (although I love him) the 4K is a significant upgrade in terms of picture quality and audio; resolution, HDR, and Atmos are very noticeably better the 4K is definitely the ultimate edition of film… not just superficially, however, yes all the packaging is pretty much same as BR Ed but this is to be expected with Arrow 👍

    • @12GaugeLeadSalad
      @12GaugeLeadSalad 2 года назад

@@Omar-cm5pb Yes, I double dip on a few titles (mainly ones I really like). For instance, I got Blade Runner (single disc 'Final Cut' version) on blu-ray a few years back and bought it again, this time in 4k, when I upgraded my TV last year. I also bought the OOP 5 disc blu-ray set recently, only because I wanted the original theatrical cut. So for Blade Runner, I could probably sell my Final Cut single disc blu-ray since it was included with the 4k.
I only recently started seriously collecting blu-rays recently and most are movies I wouldn't want to live without, which is why I buy them. So if any of them are ever re-scanned in 4k or have nice extras/features, I would double dip.
For about 10 years, I didn't buy any movies really, and only owned 4 blu-rays. One of them was HEAT. I double dipped for the 'Director's Definitive Edition' and if it ever goes 4k, I'd grab it.

As for the Atmos, I agree not much of a change and I do prefer the 4.0 for aesthetic sake. As a recent owner of this 4k HDR RoboCop movie by Arrow, in my opinion, I Find this 4K HDR disk transfer difficult to watch due to heavy grains. Some scenes were okay and better than others but found it a lot. I have an LG G1 65Inch OLED TV with Sony HT-A9 sound theater and I truly loved the Dolby Atmos (Huge upgrade), think it’s very pronounced compared to regular audio. Yeah it’s sharper and probably the best RoboCop movie to own for now but definitely not my happiest to add to my collection. They could have done a better job toning down the grain further. This movie came out in 1987 so not that old as compared to others I’ve seen with better 4k HDR transfer. I’m referring to Starwars (Episode 4), Indiana Jones, Goonies etc. Hope you get what I’m saying, these three movies came out earlier than RoboCop and again for me it received a better 4k HDR upgrade than RoboCop. Either way tho, it’s still a must grab for me more for the Dolby Atmos upgrade than picture.
I’m expecting two more movies (Conan Chronicles & The Warriors) to arrive from Arrow soon. Hope they are better 4K transfers .🙏🏻

Gotta disagree. I found this to be a must upgrade. It's the definitive release for this sci fi classic.

good review. definitely will not be upgrading to the 4K from the previous arrow blu ray.

Thanks for your unbiased opinions on these. My blu-ray copy is the crappy 2007 MGM version. I want to upgrade. But not at the high Arrow price. I will plan on getting the Arrow BD and save money. I don't need the extra stuff they put with their sets. Yes, I am a collector, but at the same time, a consumer that wants a deal. Give me a bare-bones version at great price and I'm a happy camper!

I have an older, non 4k remastered blu ray, so I'm looking forward to getting this one. I preordered the steel book version as I don't care for the new artwork, and I don't need all the extras that come with the limited edition.

Definitely doesn’t seem like too big of a gap btwn the 1080p & 4k; that being said I only have the Criterion dvd (OOP), and it’s an all-timer imho, so this was an instant pre-order. Managed to get the steelbook!

    • @ForEternia

I have the same Criterion disc. My only disappointment was that Criterion did not offer anamorphic wide-screen for the presentation.

    • @michaelzendejas4586

@@ForEternia definitely could have benefitted so much from doing so. Also the special features were like a PowerPoint slide show. I know it’s because of when the dvd was released, but still tedious to click through so much (there was a ton of extras), overall really glad it’s getting the 4K treatment it deserves and am excited to see what Arrow did with the upgrade!

Only 2 and 3. I know because I just purchased them a couple of weeks ago. Part 2 doesn't hold up as well as I remembered. I haven't re-watched Part 3 yet. I do remember enjoying it more than 2.

New to this. I never go on youtube not enough time. But my wife and I just finished our home theatre. Big movie fan. My theatre is 9.2.4 so i really need to get some advice on some killer movies to take my theatre for a ride. Picked up NO TIME TO DIE and BLADE RUNNER 2049, amazing. Also I live in canada and we don't get the steel book editions very offten. Where is a good site I can buy from that would deliver to canada. Great channel.
