  • Google has announced that it will block websites that use the Entrust certificate. Google's Chrome browser will block all websites after the 1st of November. However, Mozilla, the makers of Firefox, have also said that they may take a similar route with websites using the Entrust certificate.
In this video I address the issue, how you can find what security certificate your website is using and how to fix it.

Is this a "Chrome" only or all chromium browsers?

Certificate Authorities can be added to the OS and browsers ...
Brave browser is chromium based its settings are brave (colon slash slash) settings/security ... "Manage certificates" from there you can import a CA record to add a certificate authority. For example, if you want to use bitcoin certificates for bitcoin purposes you need to add a bitcoin CA authority to your system. Bitcoin CA is not used by the internet at large and is not pre-configured into the OS, Browsers, or other network applications as a Certificate Authority ... But I believe bitcoin CA is more security than Google's own Letsencript CA.
So neither Google or Microsoft are the boss of the internet. But that said if the site that certifies the certificate of a site has security issues then the sites it certifies as legit can be wrong is a massive problem. So entrust has got to get their security together.
Changing what authority is used for the server means changing the SSL certificate .... generally needs root access as the location of the certificates is normally set to read only to everybody but root. But some hosts have software to allow you to upload your own certificate ... which points to the CA and the CA needs to be trusted by the software on the user's system.
