🌟 About this video:
So this is me finally trying some Van Cleef & Arpels fragrances! You know what happens, you hear people talk about particular fragrances over and over, but sometimes you just don't have access to them to try, what are you going to do? Get a sample? Blind buy them? Well I nearly blind bought Orchidée Vanille so, SO many times. Something always held me back though...
Fast forward two years and the magical fairy fragrance mother @PaolaBianka has sent me three Van Cleef and Arpels samples from her beautiful collection, including the hyped, the fabled Orchidée Vanille.
So what did I think?
Here I talk through my first impressions (I only tried these three times each) of these fragrances, compare them to things I have already smelt and say whether trying them has made me interested in buying a bottle or not.
Please let me know what you think of these fragrances and let me know which other Van Cleef & Arpels fragrances I should check out. Trying these three have made me interested in trying a few more.

Orchidee Vanille is my all time favourite. It also carried me through the covid period. Although working from home, I was using parfume - this one - every day. It was not only giving me a sense of normalcy but I loved and still love how warm and hugging it is but still very elegant and classy. Rose Rouge used to be my spring fragrance. My daughter loves it as well. One of my current favourites is Santal Blanc. Just gorgeous creamy santal scent.
Rose Rouge I've really warmed to now. This was a few years ago and I've tried them all many more times since. I like Santal Blanc and Bois d'oré too. I think Orchidée Vanille was one that a lot of people loved in the pandemic. Happy New year 🎊
Hi Claire! 🥰 You NAILED the description of Orchidee Vanille! I wasn’t a big fan of it when I first blind bought it, but it really grew on me. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other VCA fragrances! Thank you for your always wonderful and thoughtful reviews!
Aah thank you Brooke, honestly I do like orchidée vanille, it's just nothing like I expected 😂 I definitely want to retry it when it is colder! Trying these three has definitely made me interested in trying a few more but I am also concerned about the seemingly short longevity of them...
I absolutely love and appreciate how honest you are! I have been extremely tempted to purchase some of the V&A perfumes. 2 of them being rose rouge and orchidee vanille. So thank you Claire. :)
I have tried rose rouge much more (gone through two whole samples 🤣) and my opinion has shifted in the last year. I like it much more now. Definitely worth testing if you like a fruity rose. Not like roses vanille really.
My opinion stands on orchidee vanille, really not for me, but many love it. It's all about the orchid flower and powdery vanilla rather than a strong deep vanilla.
I recently discovered Julija and I'm loving her channel and her energy. I feel like I'm finding my people in this community ❤
Yes it's fab and supportive, check out the others ⬇️ they are all very friendly!
Hi lovely Claire! I only have Orchidee Vanille from Van Cleef and Arpels. I adore it and you are spot on with your description.
I liked orchidée vanille but not as much as I thought I might! I like the dry down much more than the opening.
I haven’t smelled the leather one, very intriguing. Thanks Claire ☺️
Thank you, I hope you get to try it. ❤️
Again this is amazing 😂 needed a review of Orchid leather and this is perfect!
I still love orchid leather, I find it addictive! Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi Claire! Fabulous video, I loved these detailed descriptions. I enjoyed Orchidee Vanille when I first tested it, entirely because it reminded me of Lann-Ael from Lostmarc'h which is a gorgeous and incredibly comforting cereal milk type of fragrance. But something about Orchidee turns strangely sharply powdery on my skin over the duration of the wear. Orchid Leather sounds like one I would enjoy! 😍
Cereal milk, mmm, I get that that would be comforting! I liked but certainly don't need a bottle of orchidée vanille. I was quite shocked by that. I definitely think you would love orchid leather. I hope you get to try it. ❤️
Haven’t tried any VCA fragrance but I am intrigued by Orchid Leather! ❤️❤️❤️
They are really hard to find to sample unfortunately, not sure why. I hope you find some to try. ❤️
Hey Claire… I absolutely love Orchidee Vanille. It is one of my favorites. I get powdery chocolate orange fragrance. It’s so comforting and reminds me of Christmas time when I’m baking
It's a nice one, just nothing like I was expecting 🤣 I don't know why, but I didn't get the orange at all 🤷♀️ I was really surprised, I just got lots of violet. I am going to try it again when it's colder and see if I get a different impression... Thanks for watching ❤️
Great video Claire!!!💗💗💗I really like Orchidee Vanille and I've also tried Gardenia Petale and Ambre Imperial (I have travel sprays of those 2). From the ones I've tried, I can say the Extraordinaire line is an amazing designer line but I would like to try more (story of my life lol)😀
Haha! Yes, I always want to try more too 😂 I liked all three of these. I am just glad that I didn't blind buy orchidée vanille because I think that would have been one I wouldn't reach for.
I have a bottle of Orchid Leather and was shocked how much I enjoy it also. I get a lot of dark surgery plum on me. Your description was on point my dear! 💕
Thank you! Yes, I did actually have a quick search as I was posting this last night and saw you come up as the only person I knew apart from Paola 😂 I should probably do my research before I film, not after 🤦♀️
Hi! So happy to be here. Thanks for posting a photo of me that doesn't make me look like a complete goofball. :p I love my Orichdée Vanille. I'm super intrigued by Choco Violet, too, so that's on my list! I do smell the violet for sure, and the citrus at the top. Yum!!!
I've not tried the others, but I do have Bois Doré that Sunny Scents sent me (what a sweetheart! I couldn't believe it!), and I think you might love that one.
I LOVE Roses Vanille, and I plan to have it by the end of the month. I need to take all the wine bottles and beer cans back for the refund so I don't have to dip into my perfume fund. *sigh
SO lovely of Paola to send these generous samples to you! I'm so glad you love the Orchid Leather! Yay!!!
Lovely video as always, dear Claire!
Hello! Thank you for being here! Yes both Sunny and Paola are the fragrance fairies.
Bois doré does sound good and one that a lot of people love.
Haha I wish we had deposit schemes, I recycle, but it's better for them to just be reused.
I like choco violet but you have to be in it for the long haul, like three days. It does not die! 😂
I think you would love orchid leather!
I’m excited for this video! I blind bought Bois Dore and love it (thanks to Amazon points I only paid $15 so it wasn’t a risky purchase). I tried Orchidee Vanille but didn’t feel it was unique enough to purchase.
Wow Emily! Those are exactly my thoughts on orchidée vanille, thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who wasn't madly in love with it! 😅 I would love to try Bois dore! That was a bargain price with points. I have a gift card for Amazon, maybe I should look and see what they have! Thank you so much for letting me know what you think and for watching! 🥰
Hello Claire 🤗❤
What an interesting video! I am a fun of this van cleef and arpels line up❤
You make orchidée leather sounds amazing. Haven't tried it yet.
My first van cleef and arpels was gardenia Petale which I reviewed lately.
Then i have sampled many of them which made me perched a full bottle of rose rouge and orchidée vanille.
Rose rouge is raspberry, peppery rose. Love wearing it in the winter.
Orchidée vanille wasn't a love from the first sniff. It has been growing on me and turned into a great love. Now it's a staple in my collection. I go for it in the stressful times. So relaxing and comforting. I can't imagine my life without it and planning to purchase a pickup bottle 😅
I will continue to try these, I am still not sure I understand orchidée vanille. I think I need to view it as something that is not a gourmand fragrance so I am not looking for that. I would love to try gardenia petale and a few more from this line! I never realised that there were so many!
I was very hesitant about purchasing more from this line due to performance issues. The leather one sounds like it made quite an impression on you. Thank you for reviewing these! ❤😍
Honestly I loved it! 😂 Never expected to! I totally understand the hesitance. It is not good for this price point if they don't last for more than 3 or 4 hours.
I do love your descriptions. In some videos they make me laugh. 😅❤️
I don't think my descriptions are entirely normal 🤣 oh well!
Just in time for my Saturday morning coffee! ☕️ 😍 Our lovely friend Julija sent me Orchidée Vanille and on paper it smells mature and powdery to me. I still have to try it on my skin. She also sent along Bois Doré and for this one I knew right away I would like it. I love it in fact! My husband got the vanilla right away where I smelled the woods first. It’s like a toned down version of Santal Vanille by 7 Virtues. It’s dangerously in my cart… 😬😂 Santal Blanc is one I also want to try. Have a great weekend Claire! ☀️
Oh wow Julie, that does sound beautiful! I think I would love to try more of this house. It seems like VCA put vanilla in most scents, maybe it's the house style? They wa something that did not get me with Orchidée vanille, I was so happy that I did not end up blind buying it 😊 but yes Julija is lovely and so very generous and also hilarious! Thank you for watching as always ❤️
Van cleef and arpels is also one of the house that i am interested in 🙂
I like your description, orchidee vanille sounds interesting i love vanilla and i want to have an orchid fragrance in my collection 🙂♥️
I think it's a good fragrance for sure, it just wasn't what I was expecting 🙃 I think I prefer very deep rich gourmand vanillas and this is much lighter. It is very pretty though. 🙂
I just tried California Reverie by the brand and found it to be a lovely white floral that was more on the delicate, and thus everyday-wearable, side. Looking forward to getting my nose on other Van Cleef and Arpels scents.
I've had that one on my list to try too, it sounds so beautiful. I hope you get to smells some more VCA soon! They are hard to find for me to sample. I've not seen them sold in store anywhere at all.
Hello Claire!!! Love their scents
Hello! I liked all of these to greater or lesser amounts, I can see why they are loved.
They sound lovely 😍😍
Thank you!
Hey Claire! I have travel sprays of Orchidee Vanille and California Reverie. I like them both, but find them so soft and fleeting. I haven't decided if I need full bottles, but I see the appeal in both. I'm shocked you like the leather one! Sounds lovely!
I was shocked too! 🤣 I really thought I would love orchidée vanille and I thought it was nice but not something I need. The performance is definitely an issue, I was quite shocked how quickly they faded and not to a skin scent, literally without a trace!
@@dr.claire.perfume yes, not even a trace! 😳
I love Orchidee Vanille, I just find it so easy to wear and super comforting. I did wear it on the weeks before my wedding so it reminds me of happy times.
Rose Rouge is nice but I sold mine as I didn’t reach for it much. I adore Orchid Leather too, such a beautiful, smooth leather fragrance. Santal Blanc is another great one from the house 😍❤️
Yes happy memory associations with perfume are a lovely thing aren't they? I did like all three of these, they were all pretty. I can see why you wouldn't wear rose rouge, it's a common scent profile. I really loved orchid leather, it was stunning! I definitely want to try some more, I will look out for santal blanc.
@@dr.claire.perfume It is! I love how fragrance can transports out back to a certain time or place. Send me your address and I’ll send you a few samples of things I think you’d like ❤️
@@ChantelTiffany ok, I will. Thank you!
Orchid Leather sounds amazing! I need to sample 😊
I only have V&A Gardenia Petale which is the most beautiful soft white floral. Very feminine but not sweet.
Enjoyed this vid x
I need to try more van cleef and arpels, I will add that one to my list! These were all lovely fragrances just the longevity was a bit of an issue... Thanks for watching Lucinda ❤️
@@dr.claire.perfume and apologies for all the comments on older vids - I’m binge watching through your back catalogue 😆hope you don’t mind lol
The notes of all of them sound great, with the leather one being the most interestng to try.
I love the bottles they look cute with the charm
Yes I guess that maybe reflects the fact that they are a jewellery company primarily maybe? The black bottles are really slick looking. Orchid leather was really nice, I get the impression that most of this line has vanilla in...
@@dr.claire.perfume The leather one does sound like something I would like
@@silverliningfragrance1434 I think you would, it's still vanillary but very thick leather too.
Ooh I haven’t tried any of these so interested to hear your thoughts! ❤
They are hard to find to try. I do wonder how many more they might sell if they were easier to sample? 🙂
Oh I can’t wait to hear what you think. …..😉💕
It was not as I thought it might be for sure!
Cool to hear your view on these.
Thank you Maude! 🥰
Hi Claire! Well so glad I watched this I’ve been wanting orchidee for so long after all the hype around it! It’s a pass I also thought is was a full gourmand 🥴 I can’t do violet very strange on me! Bois Dore is my comfort scent but only one spray for that if I spray more than twice it’s too sexy and like you said feels like a night out lol so for me it serves 2 purposes 😉☺️
Well someone here has commented that it meant to reflect the idea of the vanilla orchid as a flower. I get that. If you don't like violet, leave well alone, on me it was all I smelt!
Haha, I need to try Bois dore, it seems a popular one! Yes orchid leather was not a work perfume 🙃
Wow l need to add Van Cleef to my collection...l don’t own any. Very nice of Paola to send you a few
It was, she is very generous! ❤️
I went today to a store and smelled a ton of perfumes, and inspired by you I've smelled all the VC&A they had, and Orchidee Vanille is so good 😻
I also really liked Ambre Impérial. They have very nice perfumes
They were all lovely from the three that I tried, but longevity was a slight issue sadly! I really want to try more though, I will look out for that one, I also want to try Bois doré and santal blanc, did you try those?
@@dr.claire.perfume No, I also tried the Moonlight Patchouli (which I surprisingly didn't like as a patch lover and I love the other notes as well) and the Neroli Amara which was meh to my taste (not into citrus scents usually).
I've also tried the Gucci Guilty Pour Home you told me a few videos ago (not sure if this was the one you told me but this was what I smelled in store)
@@silverliningfragrance1434 sorry, it was Gucci guilty absolute pour homme not the Gucci guilty pour homme that has that weird vibe ☠️
@@dr.claire.perfume Oh... I smelled the regular in the silver bottle. Smelled like generic Men's perfume. The Women's was a little better but still quite boring 🙏🙏 Sorry it's only my taste
here I am wearing Bois D'Amande ... 😆
i LOVE the Orchidee Vanille scent profile.... the cadbury mini egg comparison though ! so true ! nuit et confidences is also a distant cousin, guimauve de noel is more powdery floral version of it, divine vanille is like an unsweetened smoky version of it 😁
i have not worn Orchid Leather out yet, i cannot find the perfect occasion to wear it too.. but at home though, many times... 😊
I was hoping I was unique with that description but now I am worrying that I love subconsciously seen it somewhere 😂 feeling paranoid 👀 wow it seems like there are many similar ones!
Wearing orchid leather to work felt a bit wrong I admit. But yeah, I'll be waiting a while for that hot date 😂
I am currently wearing roses vanille and I must say I love it. Another fragrance you tuber I follow whose favourite note is orange blossom adores California reverie from Van Cleef and Arpels. Her name is Gabriella Carillo.
I will check her out, thank you for the suggestion, I'd not heard of her! I would love a good orange blossom scent where that note shines alone, the ones I have are mostly with jasmine. You are the second person to mention California reverie so I should probably check it out 😊
Good morning beautiful I love their scents🥰
Yes they have some lovely ones ☺️
I share your disappointment with Orchidee Vanille. I gave it to my daughter because I was so nonplussed. I blind boight Bois Dore and absolutely love it! Go get you some tout suite!!
Wow, I am shocked I am not the only one! People keep mentioning Bois dore, I need to try it! Thank you so much for the suggestion ☺️
I do love Orchidee Vanille, the scent really blends well on my skin and makes me feel beautiful. It has quickly become one of my top 3 scents. Scent is so subjective, only my opinion of course.
I can totally see a lot of people loving orchidée vanille. I don't think I understood what it was about or what to expect from it before I tried it. I was expecting a rich deep vanilla. Orchidée vanille is powdery, floral and gentle vanilla. It's more about the orchid flower than anything else. I think if I would have expected something lighter and more floral, I would have enjoyed trying it more, as it was, I felt a little confused and disappointed 😂 it is very pretty though ☺️
I've managed to sample almost the entire VCA-range and IMO the only one that has really good longevity is Moonlight patchouli. A beautiful and versatile floral-leathery-patchouli (of course) fragrance, it's definitely worth a try! But strictly for hardcore patchouli-fans (like me) 🙂 Excellent & precise video; as always, Claire! 🙂❤
Aah, thank you! It's lovely to hear from someone who has tried them all! I am not sure, but I think Paola Bianka had Moonlight Patchouli 🤔 I love patchouli sometimes and others not, I am quite fickle like that. I love an earthy or chocolatey one, the lighter woodier ones I sometimes struggle with. With leather, I am sure I would love it! Thank you for watching and for your interesting comment! ❤️
Same I don’t think I’ve ever tried any van cleef & arpels fragrances before
They just aren't easy to find to try! 🤷♀️
Love it too! I smell also deep dark herbs...❤️
In orchid leather? Mmm it's gorgeous! ❤️
Yes orchid leather...it reminds me also of Pascale Morabito Sultan Noir
Oh that's interesting! That was on my list of things to buy for ages but then I decided not to get it, you've made me curious again, it was about £10-15, extremely inexpensive...
@@dr.claire.perfume i tested them together now and it is also dark smoky but more qpple pie... i like it. But on my box is written Noir and not Sultan Noir...don't know what the difference is
Me too, I also wish I had fallen in love with Orchidée Vanille... but sadly it's not noticeable nor longlasting on my skin. You're not wrong, I'm just as shocked as you are 😅
On the other hand, Orchid Leather really surprised me. At first, I thought it was too strong or masculine because of the leather and incense notes. However, as it evolves, it feels like 2 of my favourite parfumes, blended in 1. I'm absolutely in love, and I agree with your description 100% 💕
Thank you! I really do still love orchid leather, I love the rich deep fruitiness, but I also really enjoy Bois D'oré from VCA and I think my opinion of Rose Rouge has changed somewhat since I filmed this, I enjoy it much more than I did and disagree with myself that it's much like Roses Vanille 🤦♀️ I got a second sample and have worn it many more times. 😊 Thanks for watching 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume yesss!!! I the almond in Bois Doré is delicious 😍 This collection is truly "extraordinaire", I enjoy many of them
@@giagostinelli yes, I think they have a good range and I'd probably have never tried them had it not been for the hype around orchidée vanille 😂
No experiences with this house yet so another one to explore in future. Thanks👌
No problem 👍
I think the reason I liked ODV so much at first is *because* it’s not gourmand, yet has vanilla. It was unique to anything I had and it’s not a day long commitment. But I haven’t worn it since my initial 2 days of receiving the decant spray, so maybe I’m closer to your opinion on it 🤷🏼♀️
I get that, it is different. I don't think it was what I was expecting from it. I also expected to smell orange cos everyone seems to mention that when they review it and I didn't get that at all 🤦♀️ I will keep trying it, maybe in another season...
Yes I have orchid vanille but haven’t been lucky enough to try the others!
I think you would love orchid leather, but maybe you have already too much leather in your life? Rose rouge is pretty but fades fast...
I blind bought Orchidée Vanille, and was shocked, as you said I thought it would be be a full on gourmand, which is completely not the case, so I searched and found out that Randa Hammami, the perfumer, wanted to depict the orchid flower inwhich vanilla pods grow on, making a lotnof sense of the perfume. I grew to appreciate it a lot, when I learned the background story, it's a fresh airy vanilla with florals and orranges, it lasts on my skin all day, and feels chic and clean yet warm, I admire it now.
The other I would highly recommend that you sample, is Bois Dore, it's a tobacco scent, leaning a bit masculine, but truly enjoyable in it's genre, I feel it's complex worn on a woman, gives me this daring edge.
Thank you so much for letting me know that, that makes so much more sense! Maybe people just haven't described it well on RUclips, I think maybe I had a different impression of it to the reality. I will try it again knowing that and see whether I can see its beauty. I love knowing the back story to fragrances!
I am definitely going to try to check out Bois dore, a few people have mentioned it as a good one, thank you for letting me know that you like it too, greater numbers suggest it is one I might love! ❤️ Thank you for watching!
Mimi eggs??? As I have Choco Violet, I now don’t think I need it, I think you saved me the money too as this was on my wish list 👌🏽💕
Haha yes, that coating when it is fresh out of the bag and dry and a little powdery with gentle vanilla and the chocolate underneath but not broken through the shell. It's definitely not the same as choco violet but I was shocked by how much the violet came through very prominently for me! It definitely made me think of choco violet but I actually think choco violet is more interesting, but perhaps less universally likeable than orchidée vanille. Hope that helps!
Van Cleef & Arpels have started to pique my interest recently too, they sell them in my local House of Fraser so I'm lucky I can go and test them out. I love the scent of their Santal Blanc, creamy soft figgy lushness, it lasted for about a week on a paper strip and just smelt better and better so I was sure it would be a purchase. Went back to the shop to try on skin and it was gone in about an hour, so that's made me wary about the brand as a whole!
Yes I really got the impression that longevity was a major issue with them, it's a shame because they are nice fragrances. Santal blanc does sound right up my street too, such a shame, you know I love fig! I will go check house of Fraser in Leeds, if they have them and I've just not spotted them all of this time I will be very cross with myself 😂 thank you for watching Emma, I hope you have a lovely weekend! 💕
I love this brand but I dream about the jewellery more!😍😍😍
Haha yes, it is beautiful and crazily expensive 😂 would be amazing to try wearing some though!
I'm also really taking the time to try before I buy, so many perfumes smell like other ones, reformulations, longevity... I want my collection to be things I love or really like and excited about, and also really want to try Mancera😺
Yes I think it's something I am learning, to be slower at buying and to buy wisely. I am trying to sample more and thinking about what I already have and whether I would wear stuff on a regular basis or not.
I think you would like some Mancera. You have to be ok with heavy musk though for a lot of them and they also have a bit of a sugary sweetness.
@@dr.claire.perfume I love both. I will definetly try them (but sample first 😸)
@@silverliningfragrance1434 👍
Orchid leather sounds lovely, I can tell you really like it, it’s a shame they aren’t fantastic at lasting 😢
I think you would love orchid leather too! The lasting power is an issue with them for sure though...
Orchid leather sounds lovely but all in all I don’t think this house is for me 🤷♀️
Great review Clare
Hugs 🤗
Well, there's nothing wrong with that at all, we can't love them all. I think you would like orchid leather but it is really quite strong. Thank you for watching Frances 😊
A few of the V&A have come up at a Canadian discounter recently and it’s been very tempting to leap but…I absolutely dislike Roses Vanille and should really find a home for it before another purchase. My husband currently wears TF Ombré Leather; if you are in a shop you may want to give that a spritz? It’s lovely imo.
Oh yes, I am in a bit of a Tom Ford phase! I will add it to my list. Roses vanille is something I don't mind but I don't want a bottle of and I can understand it being a bit overwhelming. Mancera fragrances are really quite powerful! Thanks for watching ❤️
I was able to get samples of the Bois Dore and the Orchid Leather from Saks. I smelled the Orchid Vanille and it felt too vanilla as you mentioned. The Bois Dore is nice on me yet I have found the Orchid Leather to be my absolute favorite and on my skin leans sweeter given the plum. My all time favorite perfume is Valentino Donna Noir Absolute. It has plum, leather and liquor blended well. It has sadly been discontinued. I’ve been searching for a dupe of it and haven’t found anything other than Elizabeth Arden’s 5th Ave Royale. I’m not a fan of the original Valentino Donna.
This Orchid leather reminds me of my Donna Noir Absolute but is also mixed very well on my skin. I love the note composition but also love that it is not beast mode.
I was a bit disappointed with orchidée vanille, I expected more given the hype.
I haven't bought orchid leather but every time I see it in store, I go and spray it! It's gorgeous 😍 I think I'll eventually cave 😂 Lucky that it might overlap with Valentino Donna Noir absolute! I didn't get chance to try that one before it disappeared.
I just tried Bois dore, it was nice but I liked orchid leather more 😊 thanks for watching ❤️
Hi doc here watching
Hey Nika! Thank you for stopping by! ❤️
The leather one sounds good
Yes Nika, I think you would love it! 🌟
I got a decant of Orchidee Vanille in a scent sub and I quite like it! I don't know if I want to search out a good deal on it though, lol. I might like Rose Rouge, Roses Vanille is too much for me.
I liked rose rouge, it's a pretty fragrance. Did you try santal blanc? That one is beautiful 😍
@@dr.claire.perfume I haven't. I'll keep an eye out for it and add it to my queue!
Aaa ok I think I will stick to loving my Roses Vanille 💯
Roses vanille is definitely the best of the three for me, but I get that people might love the berry fruitiness of rose rouge, it gives it a different feel.
Good morning darling 🥰☕️
Hello Frances, happy Saturday! ❤️
Hi, Claire! Do you think Orchid Leather is any similar to Guerlain Black Perfecto? Planning on buying Orchid Leather but kinda on the fence cos I have Black Perfecto already and I'm thinking might be redundant or very similar to each other
I get your concerns, but Orchid leather is not powdery and the fruits are like they are cooked and stewed, it's got a slight whiff of incense but it's more fragrant than smokey. It's also not floral at all. I think black Perfecto is quite different. The leather itself is similar in many ways, both are smooth and black, but Orchid leather feels even more unisex than black Perfecto. I am actually randomly wearing orchid leather today because I will talk about it in a video soon 😂 so your comment is weirdly timely.
@@dr.claire.perfume Oh wow what a perfect timing! 😅 Glad to hear that i hope it's not sickeningly syrupy or sugary sweet to my liking 😩 already looking forward to watching your video! Thank you so much Claire! ☺️
Definitely not that sweet. Just a little and fragrant. It will be next Saturday hopefully 🤞
Well an interesting video Orchide V didn't blow me away, it was nice but I dunno I wanted some oomph of some sort. But yea I guess it was smooth and really wanted to be rich
The leather one sounds like I'd probably warm to it the most.
Must say I'm not the biggest lovers of the Montale/Mancera but of the ones u mentioned I like Choco Violet and at a push Roses V was OK
I guess some people vibe with houses and we don't get it. I've probably found more folks who don't love Kilian than do... Heathens 🤣 no its all subjective isn't it
Yes, that's it! Oomph. It was pleasant but didn't make me want to wear it over and over, I am so happy I didn't blind buy it 😅
The leather one is lovely. I really wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did! I have no idea whether you would just think you had smelt it before, cos you've tried much more than me, but I really liked it. I would be interested to know if you try it. When I sent you samples I should have sent some, I was so disorganised and rushed, it was a late night thing, I basically sent a load of stuff that was random, I just tried for a mix, but yes maybe I should have sent you only loves and been more selective 🙃 there are a few there anyway. I would like to know if you think Gucci guilty absolute pour femme smells like that Joop wow woman please.
I preferred roses vanille to intense café, but actually I think intense café is probably more interesting than roses vanille.
Did you instantly think of choco violet when you smelt orchidée vanille or was that just me? 😂 Let's face it, it usually is!
Yes subjective, but also yes, clearly heathens to you if you love something! 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume I am well happy with ur samples and u know me I prefer a lucky dip. All loves wud be so boring. I did have a quick look and I think there'll be some gems thank you.
Erm can't say it made me think of that one no 🤣 but we smell what we smell. Sometimes when we're testing similar ones come at once. I hit rose stages where they all start to blend into one so that's possible.
All of this tho is the beauty of this, its so rare anyone who's actually telling us what they really think of a fragrance would ever smell or say the same thing
@@scentedsnowdrops definitely a lucky dip 😂 it was more woah, that's quite a few now, I'd better stop, rather than I was running out of things to send. In future I will do as you do and write lists. Anyway I thought you might hate a few of the ones that I sent you so I can look forward to those 😂
Haha! I think I smelt a lot of violet in orchidée vanille and I wasn't expecting it at all, I didn't even know it had violet in it! Goes to show I clearly don't pay attention, I must have seen that fragrance reviewed so many times. I didn't smell the mandarin either, I feel like everyone mentions that 🤷♀️
I’ve never smelt any of the Van Cleef fragrances, I don’t think I saw it at Selfridges. 🤔
I have never seen a bottle in any shop 🤣 they are seemingly mystical fragrances to me 🤣
I only have bois dore by van cleft and Aprel ,I’m not a fan it’s a bit to tobacco and Smokey for me
I've not tried it, but I would love to, if only for curiosity 😂
Hello Claire,
New here.
I like how you describe the scent and the longevity.
Just join your YT Family.
Stay connected, take care ya. =)
Hello! Thank you! I have also subbed ❤️ I will check out your channel ❤️
Orchidee Vanille is amazing. So many people say it doesn't last. I don't have that issue.
Rose Roige is cool but it doesn't last at all.
Rose rouge was very pretty, I agree, lovely and fruity! I feel I am in the minority of people who like but don't love orchidée vanille 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume I think those who love it got a hold of it early on when it was unique so to speak.
@@OpinionatedScents that would explain it, good thinking, yes I guess stuff has moved on somewhat in the >10 years!
Mmmm I bloody love mini eggs though 🤗
It was a nice fragrance and actually I preferred the dry down to the opening, so actually that's a good thing, or it would be if it lasted slightly longer. I love mini eggs too 😄
Keep an eye on TK Maxx, they sometimes have VC&A, they have one on the website at the mo (not from this line sadly)
@@ems_h.eartnotes thanks for the tip! I will look out for them! ❤️
Who doesn’t love Mini Eggs? 🥰
Exactly! I had no idea that you had them in the US but I guess Cadbury is mondelez now unfortunately. I'm still getting over that... And their switching the raisins for sultanas in fruit n nut 😂
So sad to hear that longevity on them is not that good. On me they probably last 2 hours. I think that Perfume houses these days just saying "EDP" as an excuse to create different perfume for the EDT and Intense / Absolute version. Which by the way, has also a lasting power of 2-4 hours... sorry for the rant😸
That is a rant 😂 you sound cross 🤣 I would keep well away from VCA. The longevity is disappointing for the price point!
@@dr.claire.perfume I am. When it's a celebrity perfume, that is usually cheap, well... I get what I've paid for... but if I'm spending, I have expectations. To be able to be in my scent bubble without the need to re-apply every 2 hours is the bare minimum 😸
@@silverliningfragrance1434 exactly! I do wonder whether anyone actually wore this to check longevity or did they just think oh that smells good and move on?!
@@dr.claire.perfume Option 2. They know we'll buy it regardless 😾
@@silverliningfragrance1434 🤦♀️
Is it just my nose.. because I feel like roses vanille and rose rouge are completely different. Like rouge rose is more fruity Berry whereas roses vanille is just simple and exactly as its name suggests roses and vanilla.😂❤
I agree actually. I have been trying rose rouge since this video (I even got a second sample...) and I love it now and it's so much nicer and more sophisticated to me than roses vanille and I don't find them similar... I don't have bottles of either so I think it was just a thought at the time that I've come to regret saying in a video. Young and inexperienced on RUclips at the time, what can I say?! 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume yh it does happen sometimes! You sometimes need a good amount to try and test them... Same happened to me with very good girl from CH. Everytime I sprayed it in store I was like yh it's ok. Then one time I just sprayed it and walked out and ended up loving it and bought a bottle! 😍. Yh I returned my roses vanilla as it was so similar to the roses gourmand from Zara and the Zara lasts so well too!
Oh that's interesting! Zara do some great dupes. I've been having the same debate with you as very good girl, with diptyque's orphéon, sometimes I spray it and all I get is powdery rose, other times, I feel magical and I want to buy it 🤣 it's so expensive that I want to be sure, so I keep trying it...
And yes, I have no idea what I was thinking with roses rouge... 🤦♀️
❤
🥰
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hello! 😍
I didn't like this either. It was all smoke and woods to my nose.
Did you try Bois D'oré from VCA? I'd recommend that one 😊
