“Let me smell the moon in your perfume.” What an amazing, artistically genius line! That one line alone represents more lyrical talent than many full careers.

Just discovered this fellow literally all of minutes ago, and, instantly, am, like?! How in the name of Grace have I never heard of Steve before??? OmG!!! Such a timeless, haunting, voice, with words that cut as deep as a soul goes! Wow!!! Only Jeff Buckley, and so few others, have given me blessed goosebumps like this. This Forbert fellow is the real deal! Just, Wow!
One of my favorite 70's songs ever!!!!❤ 🎵 I was born in the late 60s but I'm definitely a lover of everything Seventies. Thank you for making my heart smile
This is my go-to feels song.. for so many years.. since the first time I ever heard it.. and loving it even more now !! Omg, the words are so incredibly special.. 💓
Awesome to hear Steve singing this great song! I've probably played it 10,000 times on the radio over the years. Beautiful song.. and Steve's voice is still great!
“We’ll weather down behind the light and fade like magazines.” A metaphor and simile in one line. And both work together. This song is wonderful musically and a bit of very good poetry. Steve Forbert is a treasure.
I had had this song in the back of my memory, like an earworm. For years. I remembered hearing it, and I tried to find it on the internet but couldn't find it. Until now.
This is gonna sound strange, but this song convinced me to move to Atlanta. In 80' I was living in Cleveland, but I realized that I needed a change from the nasty Northern weather. I kept hearing this awesome tune, plus when he says, " bring me Southern kisses from your room". I kept romanticizing about meeting a real Southern girl, so it has been 41 years and I haven't looked back since. Oh yeah, I sure met my share of beautiful Southern girls. Great tune...
I've followed Steve Forbert since the Little Stevie Orbit album as a college freshman in 1980. I've seen him perform in various small venues. Excellent. Puts his heart and soul into every performance. Song For Katrina is my favorite. If you ever have a chance to see him, ....do it !
So so good. Not sure who his sidekick is, but it's worth watching and listening to his beautiful guitar work the whole way through. It dances around Steve's vocal in a melodic & unobtrusive way. When so little gives so much more... Stunning version, one of my favourites.
@@georgenaha1001 You are so welcome George, I have only just discovered this version and I absolutely love it. I have been a huge fan of Steve Forbert since Alive On Arrival came out, I am now a huge fan of you also. Together..... simpatico. Thank you, and hi from New Zealand.
Wauw, like he said yesterday: "Hey guys I wrote a new song, listen". Thank's for posting this great preformance from Steve and ??? (Let me know please) 🎶👍
A true professional. Steve has probably played this song thousands of.times yey he gives.it his all. Well done Steve.

Romeo's Tune was a Top 20 hit for him in 1979.
The whole album that this track is on is awesome stuff. Jackrabbit Slim.

Dear lord that is good. He has aged in a whiskey barrel apparently.

Goddammit man, how do you still sound the same at 69 as you did in '79? Jeez, this takes me back. Great rendition, Steve - much enjoyed!
Great! Love how the harp substitutes seamlessly for that iconic piano part in the original recording and the lovely complementary guitar licks.
