Thank you, Sir. I am a real green newbie. I have to use my brother's Skilz Miter saw to cut some baseboards to finish up the hall closets. We had water damage twice. We paid someone to fix flooring and everything. However, they didn't finish. So, despite paying this said person, I have to finish my closets myself. It is insane that one pays someone to do the work, but in the end, you're either paying another to finish up or fix their mess or you're doing it yourself. You have eased a lot of my fear with this item. I will re-watch till I get comfortable enough to do my project. Thank you again.

At 4:15, you mentioned boards that are slightly too wide to cut with your blade. Another safe way to cut it is to elevate your board slightly with a scrap 2x4. Then your project piece can reach more of your miter blade and cut through completely.

Absolutely outstanding video! Looking to get a miter saw but have never used one and know nothing about them. You gave me more than enough information to get me started and did it in a way that was not "overloading". Too many people make massively long videos and fill them with unimportant drivel. Yours was to the point and well explained. Great channel.

Hi There, good video thanks! Please consider adding one bit of advice; when making a bevel or compound cut it may be necessary to move the fence further out from the plate cut line to avoid fouling the blade. I overlooked this when practicing a 45 degree compound cut on my new saw and as a result cut the tip off the fence; I felt a bit of a chump afterwards as when you look at the blade position it’s apparent that the blade may foul. At the same time I was concentrating on positioning the work piece accurately to get the cut I wanted so it’s easy to overlook. I bet a lot of beginners do this when making their first bevel cut! ( anyone out there brave enough to admit they did it as well ? )
