We just did a major declutter. We emptied two storage units!! No storage unit for the first time in 7 years. We had a massive garage sale sold most things for a $1 and we made $1500!! Then we donated the rest. And now we can park two cars in the garage and aren’t paying for storage anymore.
My husband left me 9 months ago, I have gone through everything in my home and trashed or donated so much stuff. I had been holding on to an old Kirby vacuum cleaner. Finally this weekend I texted him asked him if he wanted it,because when we bought it he joked that if we get a divorce he wanted it. I told him that in the text, he never responded so I wrote back and said I put it in the trash. He then gave that response a thumbs up. Little did I know that me throwing it away was cathartic, the act of throwing it away was like throwing him out. I feel so much better, he’s gone and so is all the crap that reminded me of him. 😁

I reorganized and made my garage Pinterest-worthy. Every box is labeled and each box makes sense. I went through EACH box in the garage and got rid of tons of stuff. When I open my garage I don’t mind if the neighbors peek in! I *want* them to look in my garage now! 😃
Cas, in my neighborhood there is a lovely young artist who takes coolers and makes them into beautiful warm caddies for feral cats. I was si happy to give her all the ones I had!
When my husband died, nearly 8 years ago you couldn't park a kid's power wheels in our garage. He was what you just talked about- have to take everything out and organize- and that meant it never got done. I spent a large part of that first year ( I was 70 yrs old) picking away...first I found out there was a floor under all that stuff. There were so many duplicates, because he couldn't find something... there were so many things that had never been opened, I made almost $300 returning things to Home Depot and Lowes.
I understand what you must have gone through, my husband died earlier this year. He was a bit of a packrat, kept lots of stuff because parts of things "might come in handy some day" but he was nice enough to arrange for a big haul-away of large items just before he got really sick. I'm one to talk, have entirely too many furniture pieces, clothes and media items (books, dvds, cds) and am slowly selling off my stash. It's not going as quickly as I'd like, but I am a boomer after all, so not getting any younger.
Yep, I do find a certain amount of joy in our small, rented apartment. None of these extra rooms, and takes a fraction of the time to clean. I think downsizing is the new trend, instead of buying bigger and bigger homes. (I'm in the UK, where the housing market is insane)
On the question about three rooms of grown kids items. Here is my tip, next holiday or gathering at your house, give each person a box/bin, post it pad and pen. Tell them to put anything they want to keep in the box and take it with them that day. If there is something large that they cannot take that day, like a chair or other furniture, put a post it note on it with a date by which they will pick up, or drop off, etc the item and then everything else goes away. If they need two boxes that's fine, but those boxes have to leave with them that day. No exceptions. Then you can donate or throw out anything else left behind.
This would also work great for clearing out a house for a deceased family member that way people can limit the arguments over physical stuff. I work in a nursing home and you should hear the stuff people argue about while their elderly family is at the end of life. People forget hearing usually the last thing to go so as they're dying they can hear everything they are saying around them
I gave my adult kids 6 months after they finished tertiary education to get their stuff out of the house. They didn’t declutter before they moved. 18 months later, they were still refusing to come home and do it so I packed it all up and sent it to them (interstate). No one was happy with me but I was so overwhelmed and was also living with a hoarder who filled up the area the kids’ stuff was taking up after it was gone. I still believe it would still be here if I hadn’t have sent it to them 10+yrs later.
I did this too. Got a storage for three months as a courtesy for the family Member who was storing things in my basement. They freaked out because after five years of asking them to pick up their stuff I decided to do it for them. But now I can actually use my basement and I’m not depressed about my situation anymore.
We just decluttered our attic, did it about 6 months ago, and just did it again. We moved to our first house with a 1 month old baby, and our family that helped us move basically moved most of our unidentifiable boxes of crap to the attic at our request. The first time through the attic was miserable. The second time felt amazing. The main room is now basically empty, and we’re considering moving our office up there to make it a really cool usable space.
This is totally off-topic. I remember hearing you say recently that you don’t like showing your arms so I just wanted to let you know you look super cute in that tank and your arms look just as cute! I’m not just saying that so I hope it helps💕😊
I’ve been watching you for years, maybe close to a decade. Honestly this is one of my favorite videos of yours EVER!! Awesome job friend. Really needed to hear from momma Cas that it is okay to throw it away sometimes. “It’s not a cat that you have to rehome,” is going to live on repeat in my mind to help me declutter! ❤🎉
Omg..I just spit my water out laughing when you were talking about exposure therapy to make you feel less anxiety ... do things crappy! I am a recovering perfectionist and everything you said here hits home...not folding clothes perfectly, putting away damp dishes...the horror! 🤣 it had taken me years to do this...! I LOVE all your tips and quirky humor...makes my day! Thank you !❤
I literally did this for the first time this week! My inner voice said "they're going to dry ANYWAY", nobody is going to see your underwear except you! throw it in. It was hard, but so liberating!!
I am so with you on this! I had a perfectionist mother who’s life was driven by cleaning the house. As an adult now, I love being able to do things half-ass and knowing that it doesn’t matter! So liberating!
This is brilliant Cas, seasonal declutter. I think it could become one of your signatures. I mean first and foremost the bug concept. But this seasonal thing puts the focus on specific items and makes decluttering interesting agan
The 2 old girls with disabilities have been at it again in the garage along side of house cleaned fifteen mins at a time took us all day but we pushed through with lots of breaks. Removed over 100 items for this week and it's only Monday pots, plants, rubbish, empty boxes, broken items, old gardening stacks, bag of hardened cement, items removed that have been dumped put were they go. whooooo!!! for body doubling. Thanks Cass you are the QUEEN of DECLUTTERING you help us get the job done. the dump pile is getting big. will get one of my son in-laws to take to dump when we need it gone.
I'm a bee (with a lady bug husband) so decluttering and keeping our home organized can be a real challenge. On top of that, we're moving and I can get easily distracted. I'm a silent watcher, but a long time subscriber and I just wanted to say that your content really helps to keep me on track. Thank you so much for all of your informative videos.
This is a huge coincidence as I got rid of some of these things a couple of weeks ago! Cleared out most of the camping gear, sold our MASSIVE tent on ebay for a good chunk of money, and gathered the majority of stuff left over, put it in a box (like a camping stove, plastic plates, water bottles, stove kettle) and sold it on fb marketplace for £25 and a camping table for £10! I got rid of old swimsuits before going on holiday last week, and when I was on holiday I took all my mini cosmetics, and all the half used mini handcreams etc and used them up while on holiday! I also got rid of so many pots from the garden last month, someone took them all for free!! 😀 oh also we used our firepit (on the one weekend it was nice weather) and burned ALL THE OLD WOOD and an OLD BENCH! It's gone!! I'm in the UK and it's been raining so much, so I'm glad I don't have this stuff any more as it's not being used
1. I do not own any bathing suits 2.. I do not own any flip flops ( I hate them) 3. I have no sports equipment 4. I do not own a bike (had one but lost it in the last flood) 5 6 I have bug spray. Not expired. I do not use sunscreen. 7. I have no pool supplies ( never owned a pool or any type of these things 8. I do not own a BBQ, or any tools. Next. I own no flower pots and I have one rake, shovel, clipper. 8. No gardening stuff at all 13. I own no camping gear. I do have 3 coolers (2 sentimental) 14. Just recently purged my hand tools again 15. I have one bag chair which I carry in my trunk and it comes in handy. (I don't have a garage) 16. I sold all fishing gear 20 years ago( don't fish anymore) 17. On top of broken items. All are fixed or purged ( I love to declutter and do not have a life, can you tell?) 18. Old wood you got me on this. Just had a recent remodel and have kept the wood ( I have an empty basement) 19. I just gave away all excess cleaning products, etc and put some in the garbage 20. I have no empty boxes. DECLUTTERING IS MY HOBBY. LOVE IT.
😆Didn't have any of the 20! Part of that is my ongoing decluttering, but a bigger part is that I don't have a garage. Garages seem to be clutter magnets, and it has been such a relief not having one. (I live in a condo with underground parking). But listening to the list did remind me of a spinmop I have that works great but I don't use, so I'll be donating that today!
Thank you for permission to throw things away. It has made the biggest difference when I come to stumbling blocks. You’ve helped free me and my home.❤❤❤
Inspiring. My kids are now in college and i just did a large declutter. Who knew i was such a school supply hoarder. Gave 3 boxes of new supplies away. I so needed this video today❤❤❤.
I* have been working on my dad's house since I moved in with him. I got rid of most of my furniture except for my bedroom and a couple special pieces I could fit in. His house is small and was sooooo cluttered. My mom complained about her mom keeping everything when they had to have their estate sale, but she was just as bad. You could bare walk around in the garage and basement and had to park outside. I did not have garage at my house, so I wanted my new car in that garage. Truckloads of stuff has gone out of here donated to Lupus foundation and Vets and both cars are in the garage. A lot of things have been gone from basement and many others put into container up on shelves. Long way to go yet but getting there. My daughter may move her stuff in the basement to her father's house. His basement is dry and mine is damp, so I am thrilled. Half the basement will be emptied is she moves her stuff out. Fingers crossed. Chipping away at it.
so wonderful and funny. I finally needed the laugh about the garage and how the men of the house will never notice the 4 years not even used, as they had no idea about the bugs that love boxes of cardboard in there....the tons of awful tools too hard to use at our age 70plus and the awful extra suitcases they left open. You push in the best way to those who say too many "what if I might ..." thank you always, dear "Clutterbug" lady!
I was watching the this video when my DH came home. We watched it together and afterward got rid of fishing gear and some other stuff no one had even looked at in 20 years! Hip hip hoorah!!!
I'm decluttering my closet and the rest of my house as the thought hits me. I had a garage sale with my neighbor last weekend and will have another day off garage sale on Saturday. I'm using this opportunity to let go of things that have bad memories attached to them and I'm making room for God to bring new things in my life.
This helped me so much! I just bought a house - moving from 600sq ft apartment to a 2000+sq ft house! I needed less help about decluttering (that's a weekly experience for this tiny place... well, as long as we're not talking about craft supplies - who needs a dining room when you need a place for crafts... haha) and more about motivating to pack. I did a ton yesterday, but hit a wall today. Listening to your energy and motivation got me back up and doing the doing. Movers come tomorrow so I am out of time! Thank you for the motivation!
We have moved multiple times, more than 4 times with flat screen TVs…never needed the boxes and never ended up with a broken or scratched TV. You’re right Cas…those are a waste of space 😊
Thanks, Cass! 4/10 sunscreens were expired. Plus, I realized we were out of the natural kind of sunscreen my teen daughter likes, so I ordered that and there will now be room in the basket. 👍
LOL LOL LOL I had FIVE!!! vacuum cleaners!! Sorted!! ✔️ Down to one with box of attachments and I was about to order bags then found some in my laundry cupboard!! Whaaaat! Yes now I can clean my car with ease!! Thank you!!!
I have been supporting community service organizations for most of my life. So, now it is hard to ask for help. But, I have learned that it makes other people feel good to help those who need it. I am now learning to ask for help. Also, I am going back to my Slob Sisters Basic Week Plan which includes a Deep Cleaning day. This will be my appointment for decluttering part of my kitchen and part of my office each week. This may seem like procrastination to most people, but if it is scheduled it is more likely to get done. I do save large boxes for my donations, then give my daughter a chance to see what's there. If she doesn't want it, it goes to Goodwill or my local Hospice thrift store.
So I just had to comment because you said something that has literally changed my mindset and made decluttering soooooo much easier. Things are not cats or animals that I need to find a home for….🤯 mind blowing because that’s exactly what I do for everything!! Yes that’s exactly what I was doing…so now I don’t….thank youuuuuuu!111
My husband tried to get me to throw stuff in drawers without folding them for years. I always resisted. After I found your channel, I took your quiz and found out I’m a lady bug. I decided to start throwing underwear and towels in bins. And now I’m hooked! If it’s not hanging up, it gets thrown in the drawer or a bin. So much easier to put away laundry. We have also decluttered to the point where everything has a home. It leaves me more time to hang out with my toddler without worrying about tedious tasks and stuff shuffling.
You inspired me to get rid of an eye shadow pallet that I didn’t like but felt like I should keep it anyway. And the fluffy eye shadow brush I got for it. It made me feel bad every time I used it and didn’t like it. So now I feel better cause it’s no longer taunting me.
I was holding onto camping equipment, because "one day we might go camping." My son wanted to set up the tent, and I unfolded it to discover 1) Mice had made a home in it, chewing as they went, and 2) the elastic in the tent poles had disintegrated. Into the trash the whole thing went.
Omg we are so overloaded. The kids have been on vacation almost a week we have been working on decluttering only to preo for houseguest and it is o ly just now starting to look different! But it is getting done! And I'm so thrilled! We are putting off other real life stuff but this is so necessary and feels so good!
For other people that are in a studio: I cleaned my space out section by section & used my “living room” as a massive dump pile. Then it’s always in my face and forces me to go through it little by little. Only way I found that works. I love watching these videos to help me better organize and stay on track while declutterring. They’ve been super helpful with my ADHD too ❤
It's only recycling if the person recycles, some throw it in the trash. Thanks for that it's ok to throw it in the trash pep talk, I really needed it lol. I always think someone can use it or will need it an years later there it still sits🤦♀️ it's all gettin thrown out Tuesday (trash day) lol Every time I need some motivation I just watch your videos, makes me wanna get busy🗑️😆
Kid toys: I keep the outdoor toys for the most part in a large deck box. Balls go into a tall laundry basket in the garage. Indoor toys are in/on a tall book shelf/cabinet. Each child has their own space and their stuff needs to fit there. And great use of under bed storage.
I love that you want to give away your bike that's so kind bc they have gotten crazy expensive over the years. I went to look for a non multi geared bike for my autistic son bc at 13 he's finally showing interest and can't believe they are over $200 I was shocked, we are still on the used hunt bc I can't afford that.
Near Pittsburgh there’s a bike ministry that refurbishes bikes and gives them to those who need them, maybe contact a church in your area. Hope you can find something for your son!
For once I watched this with my husband, you had us in hysterics. 😂 😂 We took it in turns, cool bags/me, 😂 tools/him, 😂 boxes/me, 😂 wood/him. 😂 I think we both have some work to do lol. You are right Cas. It is the 20th June.
Cleaning my kitchen while listening and just took 4 things off the wall and the 3 items that were on top of my cabinets off and gonna be gone! Been decluttering for a year now it does get easier as you go with some things but I still have a ways to go!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks to YOU my husband and I decluttered and zoned and did some organizing in our garage. It's not done but we made progress and we are very inspired.
Bonus list: cans of dried paint, keep lid with formula and sheen. Wobbly ladder. Broken garden hose. Ripped patio umbrella. Fix holes in window screens or toss. All Xmas decor with glitter. Extra extension cords not needed. Crusty garden gloves. Garden seed packets past prime.
What's the word on glitter? It is a mess, I know. I thought I remembered hearing schools were not allowing it in the school anymore, is that true? I have a pretty large glitter collection.
Yeah! Found some paper rubbish, then went upstairs to the bathroom and found a whole lot of outdated bug spray stuff that we would never use again. Nice bag full for the trash. Thanks Cas for the reminder, as I would never have thought of that.
The polystyrene in the cardboard boxes is a major project in itself. I had a few days dedicated to hunting and breaking it down (no kids here) and vacuuming the lounge afterwards. I ended up having about 3 full car loads and it took about 3 months to put it in the bin. Rubbish bins in Oz are half the size of the recycle bins and you can’t break the foam down into really small pieces.
We set weekly/monthly reminders to declutter, rehome/donate/recycle and lastly 'take out the trash'. There's also a designated 'storage' dump site where everyone puts their decluttered items. When it's time to take out the trash, I just load everything from the dump site and take out the trash.
I think it really hit me that I normally leave things as big projects and I like your idea of just throwing out a few things to help clean up the clutter!! I'm going to try to change my mindset!! Thank you so much!!
For stuff belonging to adult children, take a phot of one or two items every few days and text it to them and ask them if they still want it. If they don't, you can toss/donate it.
My brother is moving into his first home soon. How long after the move do you suggest we should start asking him about his stuff we have been holding on for him?
@@jenniferbrantley3327 "Ask", start now, "he take" by the end of his next visit. Without a near deadline, it will be a habit of neglect for him to think your house is his storage unit.
On tools: yes, definitely discard dupes you don't use but ... I have found that having a tape measure *on each floor* really helps me. I might get one for the garage, too.
Even though it wasn't on the list I got rid of 2 pretty ash trays and there's not a lot of people come over or I just tell them not to smoke in here. I kept them because they were pretty but they were just collecting dust. Thank you so much Cass. But can we at least keep one box because when you have cats they enjoy their boxes. Cats do have feelings and they are my babies.
Just did a major declutter. Got rid of a bed, couch and coffee table in the basement. Really cleared things up. Watching you, Dana K White and the minimal mom have really helped me start to get my home under control
I really love how you tried your best to answer the question from the person with chronic pain ❤ it’s really hard and a lot of times people can’t give helpful advice but you did ^^
Always check the expiration day on sunscreen BEFORE you buy it - you can sometimes find that it's already expired in the store or it expires before the summer is over!
Perfectionist here - I was totally triggered by all your suggestions of doing things crappy (wet dishes in the cupboard 😳). Apparently I need to start some exposure therapy, but maybe something less anxiety inducing. Maybe I'll start with putting the laundry in my kiddos drawer without folding. 😆
Thank you for the reminder that I don’t have to be the steward responsible for all the things and making sure they go to a good home. That has been an ongoing challenge for me. Of course I’m still placing things in the recycling bin, disposing of sharps and medications responsibly, taking electronics to the tech recycling place, etc., but I need that reminder that it’s ok to put the old pool noodle in the trash (that I don’t have to refashion it for it’s second life as door stop or coffee table bumper pad for some day grandchildren). I also need that reminder that things don’t have feelings (that a broken toy won’t be depressed if it leaves the cozy box where it hangs out with all its friends in the bonus room). Your posts are so very helpful. thanks Cas.
Hi Cas, I have gone through several cardboard boxes as I have kicked so much stuff to the curb. None of it garbage but just no longer of need. I have also donated stuff ( like, ALOT). I never thought to take before and after pictures but I can see and feel the difference already. I love watching you.
I have chronic pain...it sucks! But 2 to 3 times a day I set a timer for 5 to 10 minutes and do what I can. My house is so much better for it. Many times, I end up going over the timer. For me, I just have to get up and start and most times I feel better doing a few small things. I plan larger jobs like going through paper, clothes etc. while sitting down. Bigger things get delegated to my husband or son. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband that does help with everything.
Thank you for your wonderful hints and tips AND your unique delivery. Very upbeat without being over the top. This particular video doesn't apply to me (I don't have any of this stuff, interestingly enough). But that doesn't matter. Here's one thing I DID have in a small drawer: 8 unopened packages of freakin' pantyhose!!! I will never wear these things again. Bye-Bye!
Thank you, Cas!! Watched this today and got rid of some old swim suits! Been feeling so overwhelmed lately and my space is definitely not serving me well! Was listening and sanding my tub to paint and just took a few minutes to toss! Thank you for the small actionable steps!!! Having a decluttered and organized space IS therapy!!
My in-laws had 8 adult children that had items left at home when they moved out of state, etc. They gave a deadline to pick up or it was all going to donation so they could convert the space into a family room: everyone could enjoy when they visit. Most showed up from out of state, etc. and the rest was donated. At that point if it wasn’t important to the adult children it wasn’t important. It worked!
Ok # 14 (tools) I saved them for last. I just went through them again last week. I am very close to being done with tool decluttering. Great list Cas!!!!!!!
We wrapped our flat screen tv in blankets and quilts, taped it and it went in a shipping container. It was stored in the blazing heat and cold/damp for 2 years before we moved it into our house. It was older, so we weren't fussed if it didn't make it. It's still working. The thing is 15 years old. Flat screen boxes aren't precious. If you really need one, can buy it from a moving supply store.
So it’s just me and my husband right now although we are expecting so our family is young but growing. we haven’t accumulated most of the stuff on this list lol! but we have 1 cooler! 1 sleeping bag each! basically just what we need for camping lol camping gear is expensive also! ask us again in 20 years but I hope the answer is still only what we need and nothing that we don’t
Cas, I’ve been watching and sporadically decluttering for years. I have a big house with lots going on (family moving in and out, etc.). I am finally starting to see “space” in my house. I’m finally getting dividends. So grateful.
I don't know exactly how many coolers at home, but in any case, none is mine, they are my parent's. See, that's how coolers work in my country. When you are a parent, you buy coolers and you give it to your children full with food. Then they eat the food, and they forget about bringing the cooler back, so you buy more coolers that you give to your chldren full with food. And repeat. Jokes aside, I'm so grateful to my parents for keeping an steady suply of coolers all these years.
THANK YOU! I just found you and you’ve really motivated me. This morning i timed myself cleaning my kitchen and doing laundry! ( 20 minutes total!) I also started my 5 category paper organization! I cleaned out a drawer to house my flower farming business records. i decided to have a “ basket by the door” on a narrow table to put things that need to go to my car and to have a place for my grandkids and their families to find things they have left at my house. I know myself, I lose motivation, so i’ll be tuning in regularly!
1 thing about camping gear. You may want to keep for emergencies. If you don’t have heat due to winter storms, set up the tent in a living room and you can keep your family warm. Also great if you need to evacuate. Some decluttering items can go into a bin for emergency evacuations.
If you want the right size and functional tubs and furniture, make them. I’ve made several pieces of furniture and under bed storage. I was amazed the storage boxes held 2.5 times the amount than the nearest sized tubs. They were only a couple of inches wider and longer than the tubs.
Did you peek into my house or something?? Or maybe my Mom emailed you LOL 😂 I needed this today! Thank you for doing these videos! I'm going to get rid of some boxes today!
We just did a major declutter. We emptied two storage units!! No storage unit for the first time in 7 years. We had a massive garage sale sold most things for a $1 and we made $1500!! Then we donated the rest. And now we can park two cars in the garage and aren’t paying for storage anymore.
Since you’re used to paying for storage units … maybe redirect that
$$ into savings 😀
Congratulations
Wow great job
Wow! Congratulations, this is a huge accomplishment!
That is amazing! 🎉 Way to go! 😊

You are on number 7. I am hoping I have none on the list. Waiting to see.😂
13 still making it.
This is the kind of positivity that helps redeem the interwebs
👏👏👏
I agree! I thought she looked very pretty in this video
Agreed. She's adorable
Good idea
Literally posted my sons bike and our old tent while watching this.
I love that!
Wow - this is one of the best declutter videos I have seen. It is real advice for real people! Thank you very much
I'm a bee (with a lady bug husband) so decluttering and keeping our home organized can be a real challenge.
LOVE IT.
Wow. Come to my house
You’re a terrific inspiration and we’re on the same page 😊
Where did you donate excess cleaning supplies?
@@rockportmare gave them to a friend
@@rockportmare you might check with your local women's shelter or family shelter. People starting their lives over may need them.
Tips for Amazon boxes. Or other boxes. Use them as donation bins
You can also post on FB or Next Door that you're putting out boxes on the curbside for recycling. People who are moving would be happy for them 😊.
I declutterred my make up drawer while you were talking!
We have always moved our TV’s & Large pictures for walls in back seat of car with a piece of flat cardboard between each one for protection!
“His room of boxes is not making him money. Now he is just a nutter.” Lol. I love listening to you!!
I got up and found 14 items 👏🏾👏🏾
Hooray!! Be proud of yourself!!
WOW! You got me motivated when I felt stuck from declutterring. Awesome video, thank you!!!
so wonderful and funny.
I liked this video because you had different ideas.❤
You give the best and the funniest pep talks!!!
@karenrich9092 try decluttering 25 min a day every day, instead of weekly.
I’ve thrown out several coolers and just found more!!! I am declutterring 23 years worth of STUFF!!
This last year i seem to be constantly decluttering everytime i think i have finished theres more and more lol xxx
Good on you for getting into the habit and knowing it needs doing on a regular basis!
Constant decluttering is reality, no one does it in 1 pass
Thanks to Dana and Dawn as well the take back your house group has been such a game changer on how I look at getting crap outta my house
You inspired me to get rid of an eye shadow pallet that I didn’t like but felt like I should keep it anyway. And the fluffy eye shadow brush I got for it. It made me feel bad every time I used it and didn’t like it. So now I feel better cause it’s no longer taunting me.
Cas, you nailed todays topic. I have stuff to get rid of in every single category - check. Thank you SO much! ❤️❤️❤️
Wishing pain didn’t keep knocking me back down. Can’t even find my floor or bed 🥹 also gave ADHD Paralysis. You are so good for me ❤
Glad I can help!
I always think someone can use it or will need it an years later there it still sits🤦♀️ it's all gettin thrown out Tuesday (trash day) lol
Every time I need some motivation I just watch your videos, makes me wanna get busy🗑️😆
You are right Cas - June 20, 2024 is the Summer Solstice, the start of summer
Great addition to the list! Especially "All Xmas decor with glitter"! LOL
Cas! You are awesome!! Way to be a positive role model!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
We set weekly/monthly reminders to declutter, rehome/donate/recycle and lastly 'take out the trash'.
There's also a designated 'storage' dump site where everyone puts their decluttered items.
When it's time to take out the trash, I just load everything from the dump site and take out the trash.
If you haven't rehomed/donated/recycled by the time it's trash day - it's leaving the house
I think it really hit me that I normally leave things as big projects and I like your idea of just throwing out a few things to help clean up the clutter!! I'm going to try to change my mindset!! Thank you so much!!
🎉 I'm so proud! We have no oldy moldy flip flops or expired bug spray!!! 🎉
For stuff belonging to adult children, take a phot of one or two items every few days and text it to them and ask them if they still want it. If they don't, you can toss/donate it.
My brother is moving into his first home soon. How long after the move do you suggest we should start asking him about his stuff we have been holding on for him?
@@jenniferbrantley3327 Give him four weeks.
@@jenniferbrantley3327 "Ask", start now, "he take" by the end of his next visit. Without a near deadline, it will be a habit of neglect for him to think your house is his storage unit.
I mean, now. He won't want to set his place up and then be given more stuff to add. Have it be part of the equation.
On tools: yes, definitely discard dupes you don't use but ... I have found that having a tape measure *on each floor* really helps me. I might get one for the garage, too.
Thanks for expanding us beyond the boundary of the inside of the house for decluttering. Great perspective and advice!
I have at least 100 things I can get rid of today. And I am on it. Feel energized
I just want to say I love your energy, Cas. Been a fan for a while. Thanks for being such a positive, passionate person. 💖🙏🏼💖
You are so welcome!
Cass, you're amazing. I love listening and watching you. ❤
Bye-Bye!
I took a tv back to Sam's club after one year with no box ,no receipt. No hassle.
I am decanting my DVD's. We do use them. We are on limited income so not a lot of access to streaming services. It's a start.
It worked!
Summer of rage purge 🎉
I want to get every last storage area decluttered by September 22nd 💪🏻
Cheering you on! But consider it a daily 25 min process rather than project with a deadline
Thank you living in my parent's house both gone to Heaven..decluttering feeling guilty getting rid of their stuff😢
Cas, I can tell you just re-did your garage! This was an awesome video! Thanks for the motivation😊!
And we have at least 5 coolers. 🤣
Cas, I’ve been watching and sporadically decluttering for years. I have a big house with lots going on (family moving in and out, etc.). I am finally starting to see “space” in my house. I’m finally getting dividends. So grateful.
I feel like you made this video specifically for me!
I love this podcas. Thankyou so much.
we used to have 5 coolers, we're down to 3, when we had two tiny chest freezers they came in really handy for defrosting the freezers...
Good video! I recycle most boxes weekly but always have a few to use as a donatable donate box.
( 20 minutes total!)
I also started my 5 category paper organization!
We use amazon boxes & their envelopes to donate breakables. So easy.
In our house for 40 years and hubby still has pieces of trim!
