very nice find.. the e waste local to me it owned by a computer nerd. and he strips all systems and sells the parts. its all cheap , but definitely not free. I also think he holds all the Pre- Pentium parts for himself

I would love that case. I guess it is easier to find things like that in your area. Around here that would be expensive.

It really is! I can't even give it away here and have no desire or time to ship it. Perhaps someday I will have enough patrons to pay for some storage or something.

I had (maybe) the same motherboard on my first desktop computer. It came with a Trident TGui VLB vide card (that I maxed to full 2M and got 800x600@32bit or 1024x728@ 24 bit color) and a similar dualchannel IDE adapter card that was capable of UDMA transfer under Win95. Memory wise, I used 4x1M, 4x2M and 4x4M 30 pin simm with 2x8M and 2x16M 72 pin FPM SIMM. Max memory configuration was 48M but once I got one 32M 72 pin SIMM to test and had 4x4+1x16+32=64M (man, Win 95 ran like a champ). Bios wise it had WinBIOS (the graphical BIOS) and it was able to do WB and WT cache. As for the CPU, I used it with I486DX2@66 (the original CPU), DX4@100, AMD 586@133 that I overclocked to 150 but it was kinda unstable (FSB 50MHz). It accepted 5V and 3.3V CPUs and ran them at FSB of 25, 33, 40 or 50MHz. I did not had a manual for it, but it was not necessary becauseall jumpers were writen on the board.
Those VLB slots were marked Master first two (orthe first one only maybe?) an Slave. When I put the IDE single adapter in the slave one (the lastone, farthestaway from the CPU), it did not had UDMA speed unless I had installed some bus mastering utility, or I installed Win 95with the "486 with VLB" option.
Please, tell me what motherboard it is, maker and model?

Wow. Sounds like you really had some fun with this MB. I like that it is so versatile for this time period.

@@RetroHackShackAfterHours Yes, really I was proud of it. I literally learned howto about computers by trial and error. And I played games that on a Pentium 100 (that my neighbour had) ran slow. I tweaked it to the max an I was able to play even Quake at reasonable FPS, Anno 1602, Warcraft 2, C&C Red Alert, NFS 2 and many others. The only limit was the HDD space that was kinda expensive for me at the time.
That why I am looking for it and I hope maybe I can find it again, for pure nostalgia reaasons.

The FSB the CPU runs at (ignoring the multiplier) affects how many VLB cards you can run concurrently in those slots. If you plan to use it as a test bed for multiple VLB cards, you may want to swap the CPU... But then of course... Jumpers.
You usually shouldn't mix 30-pin and 72-pin simms. It's likely only seeing the 72's anyway.

Keep the first hard drive. They make great dummy loads to test power supplies, just ask The Retro Recall

Might I recommend you pick up some Deoxit D100L in the bottle with the metal tube. It is 100% solution unlike the 5% spray (D5S) you are using. It is much easier to use on computer sockets and it works better and faster and does not contain any mineral oil.

Is there any demand for ISA ethernet NICs? My last job presented me with a large box of 386/486 Era coolers, unopened storage tape packs, a bunch of SCSI cards and peripherals, and ISA sound cards and NICs, only 2 of my systems even have ISA slots.

I would say yes. I don't know if they are worth that much, but I grab one whenever I see one at ewaste. They have come in handy when building DOS, Win 3.11 and Win95 systems.

Here I would happily pay $100 for an empty AT case with AT power supply. I beg you please don’t throw them away lol just this week I paid NZ$170 for one of those badly yellowed with white clicky power switch early 90s case (not XT) just because I wants the casing in my collection. By the way great content on your channel. Love the videos

Using the 30pin and 72 pin memory at the same time seems weird. iirc.. its either one or the other.

I have that exact CPU. And that exact NIC (Less the bulky battery looking thingy). And a mobo that looks very VERY similar that from a distance would look exactly the same. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm turning my head, looking at MY machine, I'd have to ask why do you have my machine parts? .. wait.. [opens case lid] Whew.. Yeah... My machine is still together... ;)
