This is. Very interesting! I never noticed the stitch mount when doing garter in the round. Now I kniw why its so hard knitting into the purls! Ill try knitting into the back of them next time. Thanks for the informative lesson.

I do a combined norwegian purl that is super easy to do with an eastern mounted purl in the round. Makes ribbing a breeze.

@@karenbednarz4700 yea sort of but i keep the yarn in back and needle behind the working yarn like in a norwegian purl.

@@karenbednarz4700 and i just watched the rest of that video. Yes the second way you did it is exactly how i do it
I have my working yarn just laying over my index finger like Arne and Carlos do on youtube so everything is very close together.

Great videos! I agree, for working in the round, I will use western knit because it is faster for me. I am starting to have finger and hand pain so I want to find an ergonomic solution.

Have you watched Arne and Carlos? Their style of knitting is great for keeping hands relaxed because you keep all your fingers down. Fixed my tension too. Which is crazy because the yarn is just laying over your finger not wrapped anywhere.

The closed hand position and tensioning that you described is the same for many Continental Combined knitters. The difference is that we use the easy Combined Purl instead of the Norwegian Purl.

It is not as complicated as it seems, basically just always go into the leading leg, right?! I actually find it easier to knit into back loop anyway, and the purl is truly easy!

Yes! You’ve got it! Always work into the right stitch leg.

@@karenbednarz4700 so simple. I found myself doing this naturally. Im a crocheter and my hand was cramping from moving my finger down to purl. I started doing it this way because I kept my stitches from being twisted. Come to find out I was onto something! Yay! So excited. I just got my first set of needles.

This chapter #3 I will watch a couple of times since I knit socks in the round on 9” size US 2, circular needles or 40” magic loop size US 2. Would you recommend I practice a sock pattern with DK yarn and maybe a 9” circular size US 4 or 5 to be able to define leading legs? That is the part that is a bit scary to me. Will I be able to see the leading leg of each stitch. It looks so clean and need. I’m wondering about wraps and turns. For German short rows, etc. Do you have a video on more specialized stitches? I love that I won’t have to give up knitting.

What an excellent explanation of stitch mounts.
Do you plan to cover how to deal with following a pattern and dealing with ‘knitting into the back’ of a stitch and other similar terminology when using this method.

I watched a video of someone who explained this. If u must you can reseat the stitches. U don't need to slip for SSK so sometimes it's easier.
