This anamorphic lens is not meant for the regular camera app. Use the Blackmagic app and turn on Anamorphic Desqueeze to 1.33x..then you can manually pull focus to get a tack sharp video. The problem with this lens is the blue streaks are meh and it's great like you said close up when in auto focus..but far away shots needs to manual focus with the Blackmagic camera app. So it will be tedious if your video changes focal length from foreground to background. Another problem with this lens is the rolling jello if you pan handheld.
i got the same lens today and tried it out, but same thing for wide shot it is blurry, any other options for anamorphic lens that doesnt have this issue?
Thanks for the honest review. Do you have a recommendation for an anamorphic mobile lens? I am using Samsung s24 ultra but will take any recommendation into consideration.
Ive had the neewer 1.55 anamorphic lens on my iphone 15 pro max for about 2 months. Im new to filming so im not sure what is normal or what is abnormal for these lenses. But i find this lens doesnt focus well past 3-4 feet when i want it to.. wasnt sure if its the lens or the iphone or the blackmagic app thats not letting it get into focus. I have made several videos using this neewer anamorphic lens on my channel but i feel like they turned out blurry.. sometimes it looks ok watching on a smaller screen on my phone but watching it back on a larger tv its noticeably blurry and not what i was hoping. Also are anamorphics supposed to have that barrel effect or am i supposed to straighten it out in post? Typically i do all my edits on my phone so i dont have a cpu to do much post editing on the footage i get. What anamorphic lens do you guys recommend?

Oh no! I should've seen this before purchasing. Now I must wait until the parcel arrives and make the return :(
There is a new model ls-43 pro released now, but I'd better wait for the review first.

Sucks that there aren't as many lens options for android. Beastgrip looks great but it's Hella expensive for a phone lens.
