Yes, and word would have gotten around that it pays to haggle with you, thereby creating a downward price spiral. After more than 20 years in business by myself as a consulting chemist I have learned that you have to protect your boundaries. Not only with money but how you allow people to treat you. So yes, I think you did well when you refused the customer and who knows, you still might sell that bag. 👍
Yes, you did the right thing and of course someone would buy it or you can keep it for yourself or gift it to someone. The bag has the value you place on it and the love you put into it makes it priceless.
Absolutely! She can't do anything about it once she gets a refund. You can always find someone to buy your work. Your bags are beautiful, and I'm sure someone would love the custom! 😊
You shouldn't have returned the deposit as to already put the time in. The deposit is essentially your booking fee. If you payed a deposit to book a table at a restaurant and then didn't turn up, they wouldn't have returned the deposit because the work to reserve and prepare the table, ensure there's enough staff to support the booked table, and turned down other bookings to hold yours. They've already put work in from the moment the deposit is received, and so did you. In future, see the deposit as your booking fee. Set clearly in your agreement (ensure it's in writing) that deposits are not refunded and price alterations will not be accepted once work has begun. If the client then refuses to pay for the ordered item, you keep the deposit, blacklist the client, then use the item (if completed) as you see fit. Suggestions would be selling it online at the SAME price you charged the client, save it as a gift for somebody, or save it as a prize if to ever run a channel competition.
@@AdrianneKeishing Remember: Never sell on what you've created at a lower price than what you charged the client as you don't want people to start thinking they can make an order, refuse it, then buy it at a discount from you. Never list it cheaper!
