I’m looking to pursue this career soon, decided to make the move and sign up for a 4 month boot camp to fulfill my dreams in working in the blockchain industry…
Great story and thanks for all the added context. It definitely matters as people try to "level themselves" to where you were and where you ended up. The "priors" matter a lot, e.g. PhD in Finance with no coding presents an interesting dichotomy for someone to dig into something new and something technical. I had ZERO programming experience until age 31, I was a bartender, flooring installer, handyman *AND* a former Math/Physics double major grad. A follow up question to this video would be what sorts of applications are you building as a blockchain developer? What applications do you see as the "main work" right now in the industry? e.g. Payment APIs? Lending Apps? Or is there this "carte blanche" of all current "Web 2.0" apps that would eventually be candidates to move to Blockchains? P.S. I'm actually a Data Scientist/Engineer considering new options, such as blockchain developer. So your video has been a nice view on my journey.
Thanks for the comment! I’d say the main work right now is building the foundations to enable fully decentralised applications. As good infrastructure allows more interesting projects that we can’t even think of now, to be created. I don’t think there will be much of a migration of Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. As Web 2.0 does some things really well. But especially from the vertical of influencer monetisation, Web 3.0 creates a path to monetise communities in a way Web 2.0 by design cannot match. We will definitely see new business models emerge. I’m currently working on a network token and also a personal project. Don’t know if I can say much about either right now.

Great video bro. I've started learning JavaScript today, I have no coding experience and it seems almost impossible right now. I'm a copywriter by trade but want to retrain so I can work as a Web3 developer.
Talk about running into a fortunate opportunity! Not many are gonna share the same story as you after listening to it but it does give people some hope, I guess
Hey man I'm in a similar situation. Lockdown started and I began a 4month bootcamp, remotely and I finished it, I'm currently working as a junior Full Stack engineer and I'm really considering a switch to blockchain development. I'm still learning JS and React at the same time would you recommend I also jump into solidity?
yeah Solidity is the based like the backbone. it is a must nowadays when learning Blockchain development. smart contract = Backend and js, reactjs web3js = front-end. they used all these javascript libraries in order to implement with methods(functions) you created in your smart contract.
Hey Obinna. I purposely cam across your video. I've recently developed an interest in Blockchain development and technology. My friend literally explained in layman terms and it piqued my interest. So currently, I've decided to ditch learning front end skills like html, css and the likes and focus more on Blockchain skills. I researched that learning C++ could be a great step in the right direction. I tried my hands in Python for a while but I didn't really feel comfortable with it. What do you think about C++? Do you have to use for your role as a Blockchain developer? And also, any pep talk and inside knowledge into the whole Blockchain development world would be really helpful. Thanks so much!!
I'm a huge fan of blockchain & crypto and just like you, I'm not about trading, I want to position myself for the opportunities blockchain would be unfolding, pls how do I get started, I can't write a single code. What language do I start learning and how do I pattern my learning path, I would appreciate a step by step guide. Like learn this first, then this then this and probably link for courses or materials, thank you.
Easiest answer (which I didn’t follow because I did everything as a hobby): find blockchain job posts, read the job descriptions and skills needed. You’ll get the core skills you need from mapping out the most common ones listed
It looked like the interview was for a flutter dev role , which is usually related to app development. How did solidity come into the picture when they only found it interesting that you were taking the binance classes ? How was the transition from flutter to solidity ?
Thank you for the video. Can you speak on more on how the knew you were qualified? Did you show them any projects? Also how influential was your education (even if it was unrelated to the work itself)? Do you think you would have been hired if you didn't already have a bachelor's or weren't pursuing your master's degree?
That’s a funny story actually. I never knew I was qualified. Spent all that time plus the Binance programme. How I got a job was I wanted to practice job interviews so I applied to one I saw online, knew they wouldn’t sponsor a visa, so just did it as a joke. Surprisingly I got an interview with them, came on the zoom call relaxed knowing this was just practice. They said my certificate from Binance peaked their interest. They asked why I started learning programming, I told them I wanted to build a financial operating system. That sentence apparently got me the job. Plus I was working on a Dapp with Flutter web(most people don’t use web). So when they asked if I had projects, I decided to do a live demo for them rather than talk about it.

Proof-of-Motivation...🙇♂️
Thanks so much for your sharing. I found your video as the most informative on youtube for non-coder like me. Currently I'm struggeling to finish the writing part of phd and also not really fond of what i'm doing. Feel like I was lost then I discovered crypto and blockchain things, i grew interest on the tech and really want to get involved on blockchain industry. I think your video kinda inspiring me to start my journey on learning blockchain. Thank god I found your video. Thank you for inspiring me and share what to learn for starter with no coding experience.
You're an inspiration really. Thanks for sharing your story.
Great video bro. I've started learning JavaScript today, I have no coding experience and it seems almost impossible right now. I'm a copywriter by trade but want to retrain so I can work as a Web3 developer.
How is going?
Thank you so much for this ♡
Good looking my guy!!!! This piece was very informative and applicable
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for his eye opener. Keep winning🥳
Very happy for you this is amazing!
Instantly inspired to get back on this coding journey. Ty….Do you plan on working remotely? Or are you already doing that?
Thank you for sharing your story. It was inspirational.
Thanks for this video, super inspiring !
Nice Video Obinna.
Talk about running into a fortunate opportunity! Not many are gonna share the same story as you after listening to it but it does give people some hope, I guess
Honestly the Binance certificate is backpacking my lack of experience XD
Great job Obinna
Hey man I'm in a similar situation. Lockdown started and I began a 4month bootcamp, remotely and I finished it, I'm currently working as a junior Full Stack engineer and I'm really considering a switch to blockchain development. I'm still learning JS and React at the same time would you recommend I also jump into solidity?
yeah Solidity is the based like the backbone. it is a must nowadays when learning Blockchain development. smart contract = Backend and js, reactjs web3js = front-end. they used all these javascript libraries in order to implement with methods(functions) you created in your smart contract.
Thanks boss I will follow all the steps you mentioned 🙇🏽♂️ thanks 🙏🏽
Incredible stuff! Love to see black blockchain developers 🔥
Thanks so much!!
impressive story bro. thank you
I'm a huge fan of blockchain & crypto and just like you, I'm not about trading, I want to position myself for the opportunities blockchain would be unfolding, pls how do I get started, I can't write a single code.
This was a fullstack role. Just happened to be that the stack was web3
