    Hi Martin, I noted that this video is now over a year old. I know nothing about programming or the Blockchain, but I have heard that these industries are constantly undergoing significant advancements and changes. Would you say that the courses you recommended in this video are still relavent, or are there other courses/certificates that you recommend to keep current??

When they started they used to have full course which were at par with the courses at those universities. Now they have watered them down and made them easy for the public. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks (with the help of my Financial Advisor of course) and made about 246k, but guess what? @BisPro - I think the best place to start is with these 2 courses:
      Blockchain Revolution in Financial Services by INSEAD - bit.ly/3thaL2x
      Blockchain Revolution by INSEAD - bit.ly/3eXB8Fw
      INSEAD is a very highly rated business school and these courses are very well designed. Hope you like them!

      @@nissangamba Yes you should get a grounding in programming first. I would suggest maybe learning javascript and Node js, learn how the backend works, and learn some front end and React also. Then you will be in a good place to learn blockchain.

    After watching your videos i have decided to go for Fintech. I am thinking to go uk, university of Huddersfield for my msc in Fintech... I am also an ACCA affiliate + already have bsc in applied accounting from Oxford Brooks University uk.... Really excited about it... But the university core module only have managing big data , Distributed Ledger Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Mobility. They don't have Blockchain or any coding or any data security module.... Should i choose this university for Fintech?. . Please reply

      @martinzeman89  2 года назад

      @Ariful - my take is that no university will have the most comprehensive mix of what you are interested in. The one you are writing about seems to have a ton of great modules and you can always pick up the blockchain knowledge elsewhere, through online courses. If you're happy with your research, go for it 🤞

    Hi Martin. I'm really interested in learning about the blockchain and transitioning my career. My biggest worry is all of the open positions that I've seen online require 3+ years of experience in another programming language that I don't have since I'm new to the field. Is this an issue? Can I still get a job with 0 experience but have gained an understanding by taking 1 or more courses?

    • @martinzeman89
      @martinzeman89  2 года назад +1

      Hi Malik - the whole point is to start somewhere and start picking up skills that you can then showcase on your resume and in your interviews. I would try to go through 2-3 courses - these should give you a solid basis to get in the field, even if you don't have 3+ years of practical experience. Just gotta keep knocking on these doors and have something that shows you have the knowledge, even if more theoretical than practical in terms of experience. Good luck!!

    Hi Martin,
    Another great video. Really enjoyed it. I was wondering are you aware of any website/publication that provides salary/comp info on blockchain related jobs at fintech firms? thank you

    • @martinzeman89
      @martinzeman89  3 года назад +1

      Shawn - I haven't come across a credible report on salaries, but here's my view. The traditional finance (investment banks, trading, asset management, wealth management) - all of that is fast becoming commoditized and where people used to make 700-800k a year, they now make half of that. That's for experienced, relatively senior people. The main culprit is that everything is being moved onto electronic platforms, teams are shrinking because clients achieve a lot without human input and the industry overall is fighting to survive in the face of the fintech competition. Jamie Dimon said is last week - they could have built Square themselves, but they didn't.
      So - as a blockchain developer, you're looking at 150-250k depending on a location, but it's ultimately all about equity. The idea of the fintech companies is really all about working in a super high growth industry where businesses grow and you can participate in that. Think about Stripe - a year or two ago, barely known small payments company that was competing with other fintech businesses. If you got in a couple of years ago and got equity, today's you're laughing because of the valuation they have and how ridiculously fast that's grown.
      Not sure this helps, but essentially, I think if you're not happy with your seat in asset management and think about fintech, don't hesitate. Good thinks happen and it's where the growth is.

      Thank you Martin. I completely agree with your statement about what is happening at (and to) traditional money managers. I am witnessing it first hand and it will only get worse. I really appreciate your insight.
