  • We recently got this in at the shop. It is an old California Highway Patrol Trade in. I wanted to check it out and see if I want to buy it.

Im a big fan of the 3rd gen S&W pistols. Ive now owned 2-5906's 1-5904, 2-4506's and a 1006. Every one was as reliable as the sunrise and built like a bank vault. I really like these guns as well, although i despise the .40 S&W i have contemplated buy one of these to see if my spare 9mm barrel fits it for a possible rechamber to .357 sig. Which is a round i like a great deal.

👍Purcgased mine years ago from CDNN $299. This pistol is a tank but is a sweet shooter. I found that CA CHP’s had insisted SW design this weapon for them. Novak sites are nice!
I like shooting .40 & have several. I don’t care for the billboard logo on slide. All I n all, it’s built to last & fits a man’s hand great. Recoil is almost non existent as it was built to handle it. $299 for mine & also purchased 4 or 5 extra 11 round mags. Awesome handgun! Should’ve bought a few back then as where can one get this type of quality for $299?!
    Good video. (SUBd) 👍🇺🇸

The CHP 4006TSW were specified by CHP to have a beefed up frame, no trigger play spring, and a tighter slide to frame fit.

When you field strip the gun decock the hammer while holding the slide before you remove the slide or the hammer will fall impacting the frame. This can cause damage if the hammer repeatedly hits the frame.

Good with 3 mags. Some place only 1 mag.

What IWB holster do you have/recommend?

    • @TheJimminiShow

I have a bunch of holsters. I use a Blackhawk soft fabric holster most of the time. But 1791 makes good IWB stuff. Also Galco and Contact concealment. Your best bet is to go to your local gun store, bring your gun (unloaded) and ask to see a few. They should help you. If not go somewhere else.

Yep, heavy SS designed by CA CHP’s & SW to handle the .40 recoil & overall power! Beautiful handgun. The trigger is like glass! Great piece but mine gets a lot of dark safe time as is a collector. ✌️
