As a Mexican, and from questioning my grandma, i can confirm that these are both Quesadillas fritas and empanadas. They are just called different things in different parts in Mexico. So please, will my fellow Mexican brothers and sisters stop the arguing, and come together to appreciate the fact that we are all connected through our culture, no matter the area. Definitely we are all family in terms of culinary roots. Quesadilla, Empanada... (pastel, tortilla, taco, Indian Taco, arepa, gordita, tamal, pupusa, hallaca, Etc. They are all family), they are all welcome in my heart. We cook empanadas from the top north of the continent to the southern bottom with different ingredients and doughs, that would be nonsense to believe thar there is only one way to call the food we know. Our ancestors traveled more than we think and brought the food with them. Love and peace, and delicious food for all!

These are my favorite. Growing up I was introduced to them as quesadillas not empanadas. Empanadas were always sweet. Everyone isn’t taught the same. Different cultures countries and names for food that can be similar😉🥰😘😊🤪🤓

In Michoacán Mexico, we call these Quesadillas.
Which part? Im from Mich. and never seen one of these.
For me is more like a gordita than a quesadilla, but still looks delicious.
We call empanada, amigo, well in any place of México, saludos desde Querétaro
Las quesadillas son de maíz mixtamalizado (las quesadillas siempre deben de llevar queso CHANGE MY MIND) y las empanadas de harina de trigo, estas últimas pueden ser dulces o saladas.
Claro que si soy the Michoacan tambien son quesadilla fritas.

La quesadilla es la tortilla ya lista y le agregas el queso
Estrella Ponce que nooooo vete a un mercadito o con la señora de la esquina para que te enseñe la diferencia las empanadas son con harina de trico con lo que se hace le PAN de las em-PAN-adas esa quesadilla obviamente se tiene que cerrar asi para que cuando la metan en aceite el queso derretido no se salga! Por lo visto nunca cocinaste una de esas

For everybody getting riled up over wether it’s an empanada or quesadilla, different regions of Mexico call it different things. Some consider it to be a quesadilla, some consider it to be an empanada. It depends on how it’s made in that region.

You must not be from mexico😒 but that isnt a quesadilla one quesadillas are never fried two if anything people would call it a empanadilla and three quesa dillas are made with toasted tortilla stuffed with cheese on the inside and the sad part about that statement is that you are clearly uneducated about latin food because even a dominican like me who lives in Texas knows the difference why because every latin country has empanadas or empanadillas and they are generally made the same some with corn flour in the central american region and some with regular wheat flower like in the Caribbean and some parts of south America so know your stuff before you talk your stuff thank you😁

A lived a few years in Mexico. Leon, GTO to be exact. They sell fried quesadillas like these with other things in it. They don’t call it empanadas. They call them quesadillas fritas. They call empanadas the ones that are baked.
My Point is they can be a empanada or a quesadilla. Every place is different.
