I just want to thank you guys for asking this question. I am more interested in Richie's singing technique than his guitar technique at this point. No one ever asks him about his voice and he is equal as a singer to his guitar playing, in my opinion. I am curious as to what he was doing that caused damage to his chords.

Chris Lester I am guessing from his response about it, was that he was possibly singing incorrectly for many years like lots of people, and he visited that teacher and helped a ton. I am just guessing on that though, worth asking him next time he is on the show. Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe.

+sillennium I'm sure you're right but I can't see any difference from watching videos as far as seeing any tension that used to be there. Maybe it was a placement thing.

Chris Lester who knows, will be fun to ask about later.

Please, guys, do ask that! I've been very interested on that matter too and, ideed, it's the first time I see Kotzen talking about singing technique. During the video I was wondering when he went under these two surgeries in order to better know between which albuns that happened and what cause lead to that injury. And then what changed for him, how his technique changed. It would be awesome to know all that. And please, please, share that with us! Thanks!

My guess as a singer (not a little bit as good as he is though) and as a fan is, about not only the placement of the voice, but the drives he used in the past that changed a lot nowadays. Literally he used to scream, and now you can see that he uses a much lighter headvoice mixed with falsettos. Again, this is my point of view. However, doing it wrong or right he has always sounded amazing.

Quite interesting what Richie is saying and so true. Alchol, lacking for sleep or stuff like that really affects your voice.

The humidity in Jacksonville was probably immensely helpful in singing that show

I studied voice with Ron Anderson for almost a year and it saved me many times over the years. He is the best that there is.

Absolutely!!! A bunch of people think that he screams all the time. Like many other rock singers, but he is not screaming at all....

Hi, it's a mistery for me how to get a proper technique, if you could help me with the correct voice placement, who's a really good teacher or what's the secret? I'd really appreciate it ... thanks

I don't know anyone specific you could use, but maybe you could look into the person that both Billy and Richie mention in the video. Otherwise hopefully others will chime in with some suggestions for ya! Thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe.
