- Dangerous Guitar sat down with Richie Kotzen, in his Los Angeles home studio, to talk about his new band, The Winery Dogs. He discusses the music, the fans, and what it's like working with fellow music veterans Billy Sheehan and Mike Portnoy.
I think Richie Kotzen is in his best phase. He sings and plays wonderfully
Ritchie is one of those 80s prodigies that really evolved. While he stills shreds his ass off he went from the 80s to fusion to blues effortlessly and without even loosing 1 fan. And his voice also bloomed really well too!! While many 80s shredders lost it in the way, he kept it going and frankly..he produces great music.
Kotzen is an incredible talent!
Richie it seems to me, you were and will always be the god of rock!
Love this band, and Richie is just... awesome. No words for his singing or his playing, he's the full package.
Amazing trio
I love everything about this band
I can't wait for more...
Really good interview... very thoughtful man, I was impressed!
Damn straight we're loving the album!
I motorcycled down to Oakland from Humboldt County for the show 7/1. On the ride home the next day the music was still clear in my head. I could have plugged in for the ride and listened to the album on my phone but they nailed the live show and I guess that I just wanted to keep remembering it clearly in my head.
This record has changed me,thanks for writing such an inspirational Rock album.
The Winery Dogs is one of the best things that happened to me for a long time...
Great interview !
Richie's the real deal !
this guy is the equivalent of Jesus in japan. love this guy
Musically speaching, it's the best thing that hapenned to me this year...
6:25 That happened in Buenos Aires! Amazing show.
The test is the second album. If it's the same caliber then they are going to stick with it for sure. I heard one of their new songs, and its' really aggressive: "Oblivion" was on a live video. Sounded great.
+Despond I suggest you go buy it! Hot Streak is sweet.
listening whinery dogs and kotzen era in Mr.Big, now i know how huge his contribution in Mr.Big
love the guys !!!
what a band! DAMN! really really cool stuff, im SO glad i found them :D
Thanks for posting this video. I have been meaning to check out more Ritchie Kotzen material after the badass song "Dream Of A New Day" on the Bill & Ted ST.
The Winery Dogs kick major booty. I just hope I can catch them in Palatine later this year! :D
very nice
Great interview - say them last night and was absolutely blown away. You take the musicianship as read coz all three are legends but Ritchie's vocals were outstanding, probably the best live rock vocal I've heard :) Keep up the great work guys, I really hope this project goes the distance, and judging from the audience in London last night I don't think I'm alone.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this record. If you haven't heard it, do your self a huge favor... GO GIT IT!
I hope this band stays for a long time!
ritchie is great
Yeah, Winey Dog is the greatest band in at least last 20years. I desire to have their 2nd album soon!!!!
*Damn...His Voice...*
Best technical guitarist with amazing & unique vocals ever !!!. Virtuoso musician. Poison was a huge mistake ! I love everything this guy ever released ! I grabbed the first solo guitar release from 1989 when he was just a kid on vinyl. His evolution into music & style is just spectacular ! He disregards Shrapnel as a stepping stone... But back then, It's all I bought !
Ever hear of Arthur's Museum? Type that in the RUclips search bar.
The album he did with poison was great ,, it didn't sound like poison but it was a great album!
I thought it was okay...
I like Kotzen and I liked Poison but not together.
Richie is my hero
Quality stuff
I was totally wrong with this guy,i thought he was so arrogant and his ego burn him out,but now in this interview change me the misunderstanding thoughs of him, such a gentleman..humble and a great musician..
What happens if you put three beast in a studio
Can't even focus on what he's saying cause I'm like "WHAAAT he has grey beard all of a fucking sudden!!!" :O
title says interview, not RK licks
Does anybody else think Richie looks like Kenny Hotz?
"Suddenly"
1:00 gee, compress much?
Richie is slowly turning into Jeffrey Dean Morgan. :)
Richie is looking kind of rough these days.
Holy shit, he sounds like Chris Cornell..I love those vocals and I never like vocals
Yeah... But! These songs are not as good as anything of Queen II and beyond so....
