+Q. Castro Same, and I'm nearly 40, but I have a couple of T-shirts that I got since I was 15. It's not that simple with jeans: 1) they wear and tear, 2) belly... it has grown somewhat.
That sounds so amazing being able to wear the same outfit each week, if I ever did that here in America people would be like 'didn't u just wear that??' like cmon people im running out of outfits lol
I'm french and i think that in Korea people tend to be even more "stylish" than french, we like to wear comfy clothes too, and young french people are influenced by american fashion. :)
+Lee Bom Yi I thought it was the other way around. Americans are influenced by European/French fashion. I thought people thought Americans were bad at fashion (other than maybe streetwear)
Bruh in France almost all youngsters are wearing Stan Smiths XD And many girls look up to French youtubers that have an American style or look up to American youtubers
I always wear skirts and dresses and my friends say, "who are you dressing up for!" And I say "myself, why do you think I bought this? I'm not gonna buy this dress and not wear it"
this video helps prove a point to me that I'm not just some weird kpop fan who's obsessed with korea. the culture there and stuff like that is more appealing to me than American culture???? idk how to explain it without sounding weird. from what it sounds like tho, I would like being in that fashion mentality area more than I like being in the American fashion mentality.
Bro, not only just Koreans, but Asians in general know how to freaking dress. In Japan, they don't even care what the heck you wear. Japanese people can go full extreme with their outfits, but still fit in no matter what. They always have their own little groups, which is amazing. When it comes to my personal style, Korea is almost exactly how I want it. In Korea, they either dress very casual, or very dressy. And I LOVE, the matchy matchy couples tradition. I'm going to bring some Asian traditions and show it off, especially where I'm at. I wish I can match with a bae, but I'm forever alone. XD Meh.
Agreed. In Thailand too everybody is so fashionable and we just wear the cutest outfits we can find every day but... never wear them again loool. Here clothes tend to be very cheap even the cutest ones that would cost hundreds of dollars somewhere else can cost like.... 10$ here so we tend to constantly buy new fashionable clothes and don't really wear them again xD
I totally agree with you! I am so much happier here when it comes to fashion. Back in UK or Estonia I would always hear things like "why are you so dressed up?"... what can I do, I love wearing pretty clothes and we only live once XD.
I'm from Belgium and when I moved to the USA, I got asked why I dressed up everyday to go to school. Many of the students in my class were in sweatpants or in their pajamas. I explained that in my country it is disrespectful to show up to school dressed inappropriately. The educators will send you home to change if you show up in sweatpants. School is supposed to teach you how to live in society, try to show up to a job interview in sweats with bead hair and a coffee mug... It's really a cultural thing, my grandparents are always dressed so well, and my grandma makes it a priority to make sure that my grandpa's shirts are perfectly ironed as well as his pants. Younger generations are now a bit more free from that, but people are dressed to go to school or work, and in most occasion where you'll be in close proximity with other humans, yes, even in grocery stores :p
To be honest, I wish the U.S. was more like that. Because it's so normal to be dressed down in public, it can often be hard to find clothes in a style you like in a size that fits. And when you do find it, it costs like $150 for a shirt >.
I was teased for dressing nice in school, but every once in a while someone would give me a genuine compliment on how I dressed, and some people even said that they wished more girls dressed like I did. Definitely worth the teasing.
this was a very interesting video, and now I really want to go to Korea😂 for sure in America, especially in small towns you're looked at when you dress up. even when I just had one nice little cardigan that I would wear, whenever I wore it to school my friends would always question why I dressed up. By the way I absolutely LOVE your outfit in this! those pants are so unique, and look amazing especially with that shirt!❤
Charlotte Tomlinson haha I definitely would learn it before I ever visited, it would drive me crazy (and I'm sure everyone around me) if I didn't know it😂 first things first, I gotta get through high school😂😂
I'm studying abroad in Korea rn. When I went back to the States for break, my friends say my style is "dressed up" but in Korea, what I wear is normal? Haha. I didn't realize it until they pointed it out. You can wear skirts, dresses, and cute things here so I really love it here. Probably buy more shirts before I go. It's also fun looking at street fashion.
This is all so true! But I do have noticed too that I've changed my fashion sense just by being exposed to korean culture. I sometimes wear nice clothes even when I know I wont be going out of the house all day just because I feel nice wearing them. I've always get asked if I'm gonna go out or something xD I can't help it, I really like korean fashion trends! Everyone looks nice, elegant and effortlessly pretty (it's a lieee but that's the trick lol)
+Zoë Wolfchild I'm assuming Korea is like paradise for petite girls. In the West, they probably wish they were more curvy but in Korea they are the ideal body type. I notice that a lot when I watch 1Million videos. These really tiny Western girls are just normal size in the dance class.
I totally agree with your first point of how we have another perceptive of how we should dress up. I am currently a college student and pretty much everyone here dresses like they just came out of the gym where as I always like to dress up. In my first year, I tried dressing down like everyone else but I realized there was no point in dressing in a way you don't want. I dress pretty girly and it is pretty rare to see a girl with a pink dress walking around school and although i do get stared at i just don't care anymore. I just don't like going to school like i just woke up.
I feel people are more experimental there because people are more fit in Korea. Or their naturally thinner. I can't dress like that because I'm too fat. It's not even just that, they don't even make clothes like that for people like me. At least I can't find any for me.
That just means you have to be a bit more creative than others ;) I'm pretty short so I have to improvise and even alter my clothes when they don't fit properly. Everyone is different, but that makes us all special!! What a boring world we would live in if everyone looked/dressed exactly the same. :)
+Olivia Giles I completely disagree. Like Megan said, people in america tend to choose comfort and practicality over style. And again, its just a difference in fashion. It has nothing to do with weight. I'm in college and live in a city so people dress up here a lot, but just in different way.
+Olivia Giles What? No way! I know some very fashionable heavier set people! It's all able creativity and learning how to coordinate pieces into outfits.
I love your style! I have always been more inspired by Asian/Korean fashion so that's like 89.6%of my wardrobe lol. It's beautiful and creatively fun!!
I used to be like "Ye... Megan is cute doe" But these days...on that insta, its like "GOT DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!" Also, I respect the experimental thing. I really want to branch out and start dressing better soon. Once im no longer hyperbroke.
omg you just opened my eyes to something i was so oblivious to i should stop buying random clothes that don't fit my style anymore and invest in something that i'll be proud to wear and makes me happy thank you
MEGAAAAAN please make a video with a delicious korean food recipe for which you don't actually need many ingredients that can be found only in Korea, oor at least can be found easily in other countries 😆 LY!! ❤
In bigger cities in America I see more and more fashion like yours actually! It stands out a bit but people are definetly being influenced by Korea/whoever and wearing tights, skirts, things in those specific cuts that are generally Korean-style. It's becoming more commonplace! Yay!
I always see Koreans wearing really nice coats when it's cold. Maybe it's because I live in Florida but when it's cold here there isn't a nice coat to be spotted anywhere. Like they look really expensive and dressy, like they came out of a magazine.
It's funny. I've just decided to consolidated my wardrobe and make deliberate decisions for outfits. Too often I feel overwhelmed with my choices and lack of coordinatable (LOL) items of clothing.
I live in Japan, and it's the same here. My makeup and fashion levels have definitely gone waaay up since moving here. I love how I get to dress a lot cuter then normal here. A lot more cute dresses, skirts, shirts... I adore it. But if I wore what I'm wearing now in Canada, I would definitely get stared at. Or get questions about (as you said) "why are you so dressed up"? It's a bit of a double edged sword. I like that I can be super casual in Canada without a problem, but at the same time - I don't always wanna get questioned just because I wanna look super cute.
Even though most Koreans have great style, especially in Seoul...the thing I don't like about their fashion is that they all tend to look the same. Every guy have skinny jeans and a nice sweater. Every girl has a pleated A-line skirt and a tucked in over-sized shirt. When something becomes trendy everyone jumps on that trend and ends up looking like fashion clones.
+.It's.Me.Shidonii.Well although I admit to this, its sometimes just difficult to buy clothes that aren't in the same style since most of the clothing stores just sell the same thing
Your video just made me realize that I tend to wear very nice clothes on a daily basis and everyone asks me why. I believe it's because I watch a lot of South Korean shows online. And I think subconsciously I am adopting habits. I've always love colorful and bright things and now I'm showing it through my style of clothing. After watching this and babbling in your comments I feel more confident. So thank you
Same , but the thing with me is I literally dress up based on my mood like I can dress so cute and girly with that Korean makeup all sparkles and stuff but the next day everything is black and dark makeup af
I am Brazilian, about dressing up it's very true, living in America I have notice that people really do not care about what others are using or even themselves. If I want to go to school wearing pajamas that would be fine here, but in Brazil, no one does that, it's truly not acceptable to go out like whatever
Not only is this a great peak into Korean culture and your life there, but it is great advice on how to not have a cluttered closet! Just found your videos and am really enjoying them! Thank you!
Woah in a different point of view, I thought that its harder for me to codinate the fashion everyday in Korea. People will stare at me and ask me why I am so NOT dressed up. I didn't know that people in america asks 'why are you so dressed up'. It surprising how the perspectives are the opposite.
People should just wear what makes them happy. My family makes fun of what I wear all the time, but if I like it and feel good it does not matter what they think. Do what makes you have the most joy and anyone who judges you is missing out on how awesome an unique you are.
I see people dress like you in America all the time, I dress like that all the time. BEcause I love adorable clothing. America mainly loves sexy style clothing, more than cute/innocent clothing. But in New York you can wear whatever you want and barely anyone would judge you. Since in New York, you see anything. If you live in a more conservative state, then obviously people may stare at you strangely. But, it all comes down to confidence.
Oo!! Could you show us an example of how you shop and plan outfits? I'm trying to simplify my wardrobe too ~ watched so many "de-clutter" and 10 items, minimalist videos haha but I'm terrible at fashion in general so I keep things "just in case" Have you heard of the 333 project ? Something like you divide your wardrobe into 4, so 30 items for 3 months then you swap out what you need for the next free months.. It was a really good challenge but I didn't last long haha
OMG Megan thank you so much for including that Ted talk video bc it really helped me. Lately I've been having a really hard time w/ dressing & the video just made things so simple & clear & ik you & the Ted talk person didn't come up with these ideas but you guys are just so fab. Thanks so much!!!!!
I really love the way you explain the difference in cultures. As an American I can easily relate to what u mean. And when u explain how korean culture is like it's very interesting and understandable. Thank you for your videos they are truly amazing and so fun to watch! 😊❤️❤️
Is there anything in South Korea that's the same in the United States you were surprised to see? Love your videos Megan keep up the good work and take care of yourself! (:
You look AMAZING =) I really like the clothing you are wearing in this. Looks soo sophisticated like a model with the matching neck piece. And the pants that are cut up the sides looks awesome too =)
Back in the day (I'm old enough to be your mom.), I used to always dress nicely when I went out of the house no matter what I had planned usually a nice dress, hair and makeup done and people would always ask me where I was going and why I was so dressed up. It feels nice to care about the way you look and I was comfortable in those clothes because it was my style. I could totally relate to this. I am looking forward to taking care of me again and getting back into fashion.
it's really interesting to hear/see that americans find certain outfits "dressed up" I actually thought the opposite, that everyone wears stuff like that to school 😂 I'm from holland and I wouldn't say our country is fashion forward but if I would wear that first outfit to school/uni it'd be quite normal. There's a mix of people dressing up/dressing down at ny school but yeah people would say you look nice today rather then why are you so dressed up I think
this was so interesting... it really motivates me to buy outfits intentionally meant to wear instead of just buying random pieces. great advice and amazing video! love u Megan! thank you!
I love clothes and fashion. For me it is art and an expression of who I am and how I feel. Sometimes I get the best compliments but a lot of the time I get snarky indirect comments like "going to the club" *snickers* or just gawky stares /: I would love to visits Korea one day 💕
I really hate the "ooh going somewhere special?" thing Americans say. Unless I'm wearing a cocktail dress or a huge gown, I want to be able to wear a maxi skirt without getting comments like that. In America its weird to wear a skirt to just go shopping when there's another person in the same store that's still in their pajama pants and a baggy tshirt. I guess people who present themselves nicely in America are seen as trying too hard which is a shame, because I buy these clothes for a reason lol. I would love for that opinion to change here, that's one thing I'm really jealous of in Korea.
Wow...this really opened my eyes to see how much I've changed about my fashion since being here. I'm sooo much more conscious about what I'm wearing. I now want to dress to impress and before even going out I spend about 15 min trying to decide what outfit to pick. Gotta make sure I match. Btw if you see this Megan, if you're going to the meetup this weekend I'm looking forward to meeting you:) have an awesome day🤗
That France one though, that's kinda true. Like when I go out I feel like I have to dress up quite nicely (but it's a habit now)... I don't really know why... Haha, I see on instagram, a lot of girls in America wear sweatpants and a sweater or a t-shirt to go to school, in France no one really does that. (If you do, I'm not judging you, I'm not saying one's better than the other) :)
I've never lived in Korea bu it's true that people can feel comfortable walking down the street ever if they're wearing flashy clothes and full on makeup I love that kind of acceptment they have
Wwwoow amazing fashion sense you saved me!! even though I'm in America and its true everything you said about clothes I'm going to take this advice for real. 👌🏼
Also psshhh I wear the same thing in the same week in America and everyone else I know does. No one cares where I live and I live in one of the most fashionable states of Cali
Megan your such an inspiration to me, your the reason i want to go to Korea, usually i would have given up on the first week, like i did with French and German, but I've been learning Korean for three months and i really want to go to Korea, from what you've shared with us it sounds amazing!! Thank you!💗💗
Just so you know, it's "I couldn't care less" not "I could care less". Saying that you could care less implies that you actually care. But I really want to visit Korea so I can experiment with my look more comfortably.
Ahh I really like this kind of videos ! I am always curious about the differences between korean culture and western culture and i used to think it's a bad thing to have such gaps (?) but you make me realize it's okay to be different and there's no "bad" or "good" culture, it's just that they're different!
I live in Atlanta and everyone tries to dress nicely or even flashy not really about being cutesy like it seems to be in Korea. I dunno there are more stylish or less stylish parts in every country. I'm sure the countrysides of Korea aren't always dressed to the nines
Hmm; I live in Atlanta and I can't say the same. I think it's an equal amount of people trying to dress up and an equal amount of people who don't care lol
I really can relate to this! I used to not care alot about clothes and even used clothes from my brother and dad, since I started traveling and getting into new cultures, Korean culture really made me change my fashion, now I really dressed up and experiment alot and I am really interest in fashion now!
Hi Megan, I have a question. Do people get looked down or criticised by their friend/family/co-workers when they are not fashionable or generally just like to wear plain clothing/dress down? since most people in Seoul dress so nicely, i just wonder if people feel out of place if they are the type that don't like dressing up.
If someone else comes at you about blessing, I'll be ready to fight. Just because you're light skinned they think you bleach. Every person changes color with the weather and it also depends on how long they're outside. I'm darker than you but in the winter, I turn hella light because there isn't much light and I'm inside most of the time. I'm from Georgia by the way✊
Aw, you brought up a big point. I do have a bunch of clothing I never wear because they don't fit my style. I think I'll start moving clothing around to find what I want to wear ✨ thank you for your insight and look forward to more videos❤️😁
I live in MS and I wear similar fashions to the pictures you showed. I do get a lot of compliments. I don't notice people staring. But my fashion changes with the seasons and even month to month. I am very fluid with it. For the past 4 years I mostly wore dresses and super sweet stuff but now I am wearing more crop tops and shorts with sketchers and more casual outfits.
I have 3 pairs of trousers and like 5 shirts that I wear all the time it's become my style basically this video kind of reminded me that I need to throw away 90% of my closet
In México we buy it off the manniquin . We do from head to toe , from the hat to the shoes . Shopping department to dept. Coordinating outfits . Loved this video . Thanks for sharing . I never lose my own style I just add what looks good on me from that season .
I used to not care AT ALL about the clothes I wore, but more and more I realize I subconsciously started to pay attention to fashion and I'm always trying to shop for clothes that not only fit me well, but that are stylish. And I've been trying to incorporate Korean fashion into my wardrobe; let's see how it goes :) Loved your video! xx
I love clothing in Asian countries, they're so cute and unique... In America, the style of budget-friendly clothing is so similar (imo) but it's usually the pattern/color that's different.. Also, sometimes you have to pay an arm or leg just for something basic. I wish we had more varieties in store like in Japan or Korea. I noticed that whenever I wear something I bought in Asia, I get complimented more often because it's not something you see everyday here.
I don't really get stared at in Australia I think because most of the people who are migrating are from China and the dress style is sort of the same so I don't really get stared at
I still have clothes from middle school that I wear at home
same
Me too
guilty 😐
+Q. Castro i still wear hoodies and jeans from middle school, basically 3-6 years old lol

Same, and I'm nearly 40, but I have a couple of T-shirts that I got since I was 15. It's not that simple with jeans: 1) they wear and tear, 2) belly... it has grown somewhat.

or tell them "there's this thing called washing machine" ;)
Malerie Glasser i think they change the combinations tho so it looks like a new outfit:D wish i was that creative haha
I'm french and i think that in Korea people tend to be even more "stylish" than french, we like to wear comfy clothes too, and young french people are influenced by american fashion. :)
ouais c'est vrais

Then damn if I went to your town everyone would probably faint lol. The culture difference seems so interesting though
I like your style like this.. like your makeup right now seems like a merge of korean and western and its suits you alottt
I love Korean fashion it's so awesome.
And then there's jeon jungkook... With thousands of white shirts.... Ok
Same girl, my style has been change because I love Korean fashion .. And then my friends kept complimenting me because I always dress nice
This is a really good tips. I'm going to clean out my closet and wear stylish clothes only hehe. There's no problem being fashionable here.

"What kinda prison is this?"
😂😂😂😂😂 love you Megan
Does anyone else join in with her when she's doing her intro? Or is it just me?
Nahh I do the same 😂
😂😂😂✋✋✋I do
I do 😂 even my little brother tries to sing with me ~ he already knows it because of me 😂❤️
i do 😂
same lol
I love korean fashion! They look so high fashion even in the grocery store lol.
I'm trying to simplify my wardrobe too ~ watched so many "de-clutter" and 10 items, minimalist videos haha but I'm terrible at fashion in general so I keep things "just in case"
Have you heard of the 333 project ?
Something like you divide your wardrobe into 4, so 30 items for 3 months then you swap out what you need for the next free months.. It was a really good challenge but I didn't last long haha
Will you do a video on what's in your closet?!!? You have such cute clothes!!
This is why I love going back to Europe. I get to wear fashionable things (which i love) and noone keeps saying why i got dressed up
I really love the way you explain the difference in cultures.
+gabby f great question!!!
I love seeing what you wear on Instagram! I think they are so cool and pretty! Please keep posting them!
You look AMAZING =) I really like the clothing you are wearing in this. Looks soo sophisticated like a model with the matching neck piece. And the pants that are cut up the sides looks awesome too =)
So true about being dressed up/overdressed, the struggle is real in Canada. Can't wait to be able dress how I like again ^_^
"Crusty booty cheese" oh my gosh, that made me laugh so much! Can we please be friends? Haha
IN TURKEY A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE ALSO VERY DRESSED UP BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS OUR CLOSETS EXPLODE HAHAH
I'm in the US right now and back in 5th grade I used to get messed with a lot for what I wore. I really admire your aditude toward your appearance😊
& here i am, an american teenager, watching this video in sweat pants and a tshirt...
deidaraakun same 😂😂
it's really interesting to hear/see that americans find certain outfits "dressed up" I actually thought the opposite, that everyone wears stuff like that to school 😂 I'm from holland and I wouldn't say our country is fashion forward but if I would wear that first outfit to school/uni it'd be quite normal. There's a mix of people dressing up/dressing down at ny school but yeah people would say you look nice today rather then why are you so dressed up I think
Ahahahah I died laughing just after your "Numero uno!" X'D
Love you Megan
+Diana Curtolo hahaha glad you enjoyed it :) thanks ofr watching
this was so interesting... it really motivates me to buy outfits intentionally meant to wear instead of just buying random pieces. great advice and amazing video! love u Megan! thank you!
This was such a useful & informative video!!I gotta stop buying pieces that don't go together from now on♡
I love clothes and fashion.
Dang Megan! Your lipstick, application, lip color all of it....its so ON POINT today! I really like your lipstick in this vid!
Im 100% sure megan can find her skin tone foundation and makeup for a black girl in Korea
I've never lived in Korea bu it's true that people can feel comfortable walking down the street ever if they're wearing flashy clothes and full on makeup
I love that kind of acceptment they have
Wwwoow amazing fashion sense you saved me!! even though I'm in America and its true everything you said about clothes I'm going to take this advice for real. 👌🏼
Thank you so much for uploading !! AND WE NEED A HAUL VIDEO
second this
Also psshhh I wear the same thing in the same week in America and everyone else I know does.
Thank you!💗💗
Crusty booty cheese 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I live in Tokyo and your the first person that EVER made me want to visit Korea!! Love your videos!!
I apologize if this sounds a bit creepy, but Megan's eyes are so beautiful-
Beautiful yes, agreed!
she uses lots of circle lenses. i love circle lenses
omg ! i love her style so much
yyuuuupp, caught up from Snapchat haha^.^ I love your fashion sense, Korea rocks the fashion industry
Love your videooo~
+Hope Joy yeah! thanks for watching :)
I like this kind of videos about the difference and variety between cultures and that's what makes it fun and enjoyable
Just so you know, it's "I couldn't care less" not "I could care less". Saying that you could care less implies that you actually care. But I really want to visit Korea so I can experiment with my look more comfortably.
+Janie Kokiri hahaha thanks much for that
+ChoNunMigookSaram no problem! I just wanted to help a girl out!
+ChoNunMigookSaram yours eyes are so Beautiful!!! just curious are they contacts and if so what kind and where from??
Ahh I really like this kind of videos ! I am always curious about the differences between korean culture and western culture and i used to think it's a bad thing to have such gaps (?) but you make me realize it's okay to be different and there's no "bad" or "good" culture, it's just that they're different!
I get so many weird looks in America when I dress how I like to
I've been subscribed since you first went to Korea, so I can definitely see the changes in your fashion sense! I think it's pretty dope!
I live in Atlanta and everyone tries to dress nicely or even flashy not really about being cutesy like it seems to be in Korea. I dunno there are more stylish or less stylish parts in every country. I'm sure the countrysides of Korea aren't always dressed to the nines
+Maya Hudlin Exactly. Same in NYC
Aaayyyyeee I'm from ATL too
Hmm; I live in Atlanta and I can't say the same.
+TheBookCover12 btw Megan all your clothes are so prettehhhhh
Don't worry. We don't apply the same standards to foreigners.
I'm from Georgia by the way✊
*bleaching
+Nefertiti Kimagawa thank you. She can't help what nature does to her skin. No one really can.
+Nefertiti Kimagawa sunburn hurts baddddd. I got it on my chest and it would not stop peeling. Terrribbllle
Aw, you brought up a big point. I do have a bunch of clothing I never wear because they don't fit my style. I think I'll start moving clothing around to find what I want to wear ✨ thank you for your insight and look forward to more videos❤️😁
Grl said "as long as they don't smell like crusty booty
cheese" xDDD😂😂😂😂
I live in MS and I wear similar fashions to the pictures you showed. I do get a lot of compliments. I don't notice people staring. But my fashion changes with the seasons and even month to month. I am very fluid with it. For the past 4 years I mostly wore dresses and super sweet stuff but now I am wearing more crop tops and shorts with sketchers and more casual outfits.
I have 3 pairs of trousers and like 5 shirts that I wear all the time it's become my style basically this video kind of reminded me that I need to throw away 90% of my closet
Donate👍
In México we buy it off the manniquin . We do from head to toe , from the hat to the shoes . Shopping department to dept. Coordinating outfits . Loved this video . Thanks for sharing . I never lose my own style I just add what looks good on me from that season .
Megan are you going to visit 1 Million Dance Studio
Yes, please make a video about this
Your outfits are always on fleek all the time
+ChoNunMigookSaram please FedEx me to your life. I love Korean fashion and specially for men.
I used to not care AT ALL about the clothes I wore, but more and more I realize I subconsciously started to pay attention to fashion and I'm always trying to shop for clothes that not only fit me well, but that are stylish. And I've been trying to incorporate Korean fashion into my wardrobe; let's see how it goes :) Loved your video! xx
"crusty booty cheese" omfg 😂😂😂
YOU SHOULD DO A WEEKLY OOTD OR LIKE A LOOKBOOK TYPE THING!! I'd love to see that!!
Lipstick on teeth struggles. Same girl
