Great video - I've often wondered myself what the difference is between all the Rode Lavalier mics because there are so many of them. I have the Rode Lavalier Go and it seems to sound slightly richer than the others 👍🏻. The Boya is a bit of an eye opener though, for its price it kicks a**e. If you wanted the flexibility of a Lavalier on a budget that'd be a great choice. The camera pre-amps test was really interesting. You're right, the Z8's pre-amp is awful. - whereas the Zoom is the clear winner. And it has the advantage that it'll be consistent no matter which camera you use.
Agreed, of the Rodes the second one sounded best to me but overall they all sounded similar. The warmer Sony sounded the best to my ears although I should add I was listening via the speakers in my Sony Xperia 1V cellphone rather than headphones. 🙂
