- As #Volkswagen continues to expand the ID family, the 2025 #VolkswagenID7 is the brand's third electric model in the ID lineup. The #ID7 is the production version of the #IDAeroConcept we saw a couple years ago and #VW is taking feedback from consumers and media from the ID.4 and improving the tech, range, and power in this sleek electric sedan. It goes on sale in the US in early 2024 and we expect pricing to come in at just under $50k to start.

Happy Monday guys! We literally just got back from NYC after filming this vehicle in advance from the reveal this morning. We were able to chat with VW a bit and wanted to clarify, this is a European spec ID.7, the US spec car will be getting illuminated front and rear VW emblems and from what we gathered about the bigger battery, it seems to be more of an availability constraint, so hopefully, whenever the AWD version of this car comes, they will figure out a way to bring the larger 86 kWh pack.
HUD ?
@@MDEMIRJIAN hud will be standard on the id.7
The Arteon was a beautiful car that was let down by it's price and customers insane demand for SUVs. #RIP ARTEON
True that, Stinger is another one.
Agreed! Amazing car at the wrong time.
Arteon price is near TLX price range, why would would anyone buy Arteon instead TLX?
@@blackwhirlwind1245 I agree with you, though I could see why a buyer would go to TLX if they plan on driving it for a few years and selling it. Acura will most definitely demand a higher resell price then the Arteon. Large German sedans I'm general depreciate quickly
That's even before VW's perceived poor reliability and high repair cost
I haven’t been impressed with VW in many years however this is impressive. I think it’s easier on the eyes than the Ioniq 6
the ioniq 6 is so ugly for a reason... aero
Looking at the comparison with the Ioniq 6, the Ioniq 6 is a good car. The ID7 is a traditional sedan design that is too fat. The design is not fresh, and it is an electric vehicle with a typical internal combustion vehicle design. Thanks to that, it seems that the space has been secured.
Redline is now the one that brings some of the newest releases, well done team!
Though yet again, after VW said they're going back to physical buttons, they burry EVERYTHING behind a touch sensitive panel. I truly do not understand how cell phone usage is so well understood as dangerous and illegal, yet we get 12"+ tablets in the middle to control nearly every single vehicle function?
Automakers, nobody considers this "luxury" or "modern." We all know you're cheaping out and removing physical controls. STOP IT.
Plastic physical controls are more expensive than a 7-12 inch screen?
wow didn’t know
@@keaujibaha2594 I know you're being sarcastic, but yes, they are to a point. Think of a mold in the dash/center console, wiring harness, module, backlighting, design changes.
All of that goes into the cost (and why some cars even in high trims have blank buttons - too expensive to mold a new trim).
With touch screens, you just design a little logo of a heated seat for example and the PLC/controller sends a signal to turn this on. So yes, at some point this becomes way cheaper.
@@keaujibaha2594 it depends on how many vehicles you sell.
If you produce a set of buttons for each global market (e.g. EU, North America, Latin America, India, China, Japan) - and across multiple vehicle package/model lineups - then yes, the cost of producing multiple moldings and maintaining that inventory/service warehouse might start seem less attractive than a singular screen vendor that produces the same screen for EVERY vehicle.
Say if you expect to sell 25,000 model XYZ 1, 100,000 XYZ 2 and 200,000 XYZ 3 - but then market conditions responds diff and you have 100,000 XYZ 1 and 25,000 of XYZ 2 and 3; you have to tell your suppliers to quickly adjust and there's potential for inventory that's gonna sit. A screen lets them order 200,000 and just fit it to each lineup.
@@shinybaldy Pretty much exactly what I said. :)
Why doesn't VW give out the specs the same day it gets launched? I really love what VW did and even though nothing is set in stone when it comes to specifications I feel like VW went over & be of what they needed to do.
Yep I’m one of many that wouldn’t be caught dead in an SUV/crossover. Great to see new sedans and liftbacks revealed.
This is much nicer than the Ioniq 6 and Model 3. Good job, VW. This is what Kia needs to make for an electric Stinger (EV8?)
I'm not sure about it being better than the Ioniq 6.
Kia stinger hybrid gt , front wheelS with individual emotors.
How is it nicer than the Ioniq?
Finally an electric vehicle that isn’t lifted way off of the ground, comprising all of its range.
it's very nice. There's no way a well optioned one like the car on display is less than $55k, i'm guessing closer to $60k, alot for a VW but seemingly a great car.
The infotainment system is what should have made it to production in the first place. I’m looking forward to this screen being implemented across the board
That tiny instrument cluster screen is all I need. Well positioned with the right information. Everything else can be displayed on the infotainment. I just don’t understand this trend of putting 12” to 14” screens to just display a digital version of an analog gauge.
That’s my “old man yells at cloud” moment of the day. Thank you
The North American versions apprently will all ship with the HUD in addition, so you can get some of that information on the windshield glass as well.
I can tell they used the famous interiordesigner Mr. Alldark - very famous these days and very uplifting.
This def has a chance to be better than the model 3. Its really going to come down how good the software is
Reginald, this is way, way bigger that the Model 3, and has better utility because of the lift back rear door.
As opposed to the very impractical trunk lid and it’s tiny opening in the Model 3
On every metric, particularly overall exterior and interior size, this is more of a DIRECT COMPETITOR to the Model S...
But it will be SUBSTANTIALLY CHEAPER than the model S!!
And will have a round steering wheel and 2 conventional stalks!!
How about that?
A round steering wheel with 2 stalks!!
Will wonders never cease, LOL ?? 😂😂😂😂
Software 4.0 seems to be ok
The crossover craze has completely destroyed sedans. They used to be sleek and sporty looking. These days it seems all new sedans just look fattened up crossover coupes lowered and then marketed as a sedan.
I think them being electric adds to why they all look like that now for aerodynamics
@@PresidentJackBauerI would think a lower profile would be desirable for aerodynamics. I think they, the "economy brands" at least, look like this because they stack the battery cells under the passenger compartment. Either that or there is some agreement that all these EVs have to look slightly goofy so you know it's an EV lol
No big battery, no dual motor. They don’t want it to sell in the US.
They couldn’t sell the CC beautiful car they couldn’t sell the Arteon another beautiful sedan and they couldn’t sell the Passat which I liked the new styling yet here is a more expensive car.
The Arteon is the best-looking car sold in America. VW didn't advertise or sell all the features to customers. If they did, it would sell better. I have a 2021 sel premium, and I am buying a 2023 sel premium. I looked around, and there is not another car I want except an Audi RS6 avant 2024, of course
@@alvin1039 the Arteon is a beautiful car but sportbacks are a very limited market in the US and are pretty much exclusively luxury brands. It’s one of the reason why Kia struggle with the stinger. The Arteon’s starting price is not too far off from a Audi A5. So why not spend more and get the prestige logo?
While I wish they would've done more with the Arteon(especially giving NA the R version), I can stomach this car far better than the Ioniq 6. It is tasteful and has good range and decent power. Curious to see what an AWD variant will offer...
I can’t wait for the AWD version. I want a car now that I’m getting older. I’m getting over driving SUVs. I was sold on a Tesla but maybe I’ll check this out when the AWD comes out.
Every Sedan should have a rear hatch. It doesn't hurt the looks of the car and helps get some of the functionality of a crossover.
I wonder who at VW decided that the US market only gets the smaller battery pack. North America is probably one of the better markets for the big pack, both because of our increased need for air conditioning (at least in the south) and because of our famously long commutes (I know several people who's commutes are an hour one way). Hopefully, they've nailed their charging curve so that when it comes time to road trip ID.7, you're not spending too much time at charge stations.
Finally a proper EV from VW. Should it able to do 500kms+ range then it'll be one that I wanted.
Damn...wow that's so beautiful. I was going to get a Tesla but this has me really interested
I wonder if VW will discontinue all its current badges in the future in exchange for the ID badge. I would hate to see the GTI, Golf R go. They’ve already gotten rid of the Passat, Eos, and Beetle, and may be getting rid of the Jetta and Touareg, so i see it coming pretty soon.
Who cares, those cars are all ass
they did already destroy the R logo not too long ago...
Would love to see the Audi version is going to look like e
Is this model based on the e-tron platform?
I’m feeling the ID7! ❤️❤❤
No struts for the front hood?
Amazing,mindblowing,gamechanging!
This is my dream car
Gorgeous! So much better than the ioniq6!
agree. Design is subjective, but I MUCH prefer the clean modern lines of the VW rather than the fussy odd nature of the Ioniq6. That said I hope both do well.
VW has Audi in the back pocket to help with style and this new ID is gonna be a timeless design. Ioniq is cool in the moment but the look is not gonna age well. Ioniq 5 is brings memories of old cars that were aweful such as ford festiva or geo metro. Ioniq 6 looks like a modern twist and mix of the 2000 and 2005 Hyundai sonata.
I now know what I'll be upgrading my 2011 VW CC to!
Seems VW still hasn't figured out people hate their UIs and capacitive junk.
This is different than any I their version of it
This is an upgraded UI than the previous UI one, and many people who are used to the capacitive buttons are ok with it.
What's with the line that sits below the screen and to the left of the hazard symbol?
What happened to them giving us physical buttons back?
They lied just like with their diesel emissions. #buttongate
@@nicholassmith7048 Not true mate !
VW only recently announced that they were going back physical buttons. The design of this ID7 has been in the works for well over 2 years. So it predates that recent decision!
Best you get your facts right...bucko!
And stop being SO DISINGENUOUS 😡😡😡
They skipped a year
And we should all skip this pos.
fr 😂
Its a concept it will be released in 2025
Exterior is cool but the interior is really cool I like the seats
Does it have a heat pump?
Still not convinced on EVs, but the center screen looks great. The driver display looks worse than what the Toyota Prius has.
Still annoying that the heated functions, etc are on the screen. Would be better if it was AI controlled or something you could set to specific temps.
Toyota Prius doesn t have a 15 inches high resolution screen infotainment, nor has it voice command nor HUD.
Electric cars don t need huge dashbord because they don t need tachometer, odometer, oil, temperature gauge etc....
You only needs speed and range and few symbols. The layout on the ID 7 give you better ergonomic at the same time you have everything you need on the dashbord.
Wish they gave it the amazing front end of the Arteon, so much better looking
Totally agree Jack !!
I have a 5 year old hatchback Arteon, and get constantly told (even by random strangers!) what a great looking car it is!
Whilst this new ID7 does have a nice, pleasant design, it definitely is a somewhat “backward” step, compared with the original bold and strikingly good looking Arteon!! (Yes, I know as an Arteon I’m biased - but I’m in GOOD COMPANY!)
Disappointed that VW decided to continue to stick with all haptic buttons. They are very touchy in the ID.4 and does not work well. Hopefully the updated center console software is much easier to use...
Excited to see this car. I drive a gas car now and plan to drive it until it's end of life, but want my next car to be electric. If I had to buy one now, I'd probably buy a Tesla because 1. I love sedans and don't want to drive anything bigger and 2. I need a solid charging network given this would be my only car, so I don't have a gas car for road trips. This addresses number 1, and number 2 should continue to be addressed as time goes on.
"It goes 800, no, 1500 miles from a single 3 minute charge! Yeah, that's the ticket!"
- Totally believable Volkswagon.
This looks quite promising as a follow-on to our e-Golf. Bummer about the horrible haptic steering wheel buttons -- I was hoping they'd fix that before putting out this new vehicle on the MEB platform.
Impressive can’t wait to own ❤😊
E-Passat will be interesting. But ill take my tdi anytime. The arteon should stay as a plug in hybrid with a high performance model .R line with balls
Despite VW penchant for cost cutting, they managed to put two lights in the hatch. I would have figured a single tiny pin light. I was surprised. Don't like the ugly wheels or a sunroof the doesn't open. Thank goodness they took out all the piano black. Then again, they added it to the exterior?
The only thing that bothers me is all the blue lights on. I drive at night and the interior lights would drive me crazy. Can they be completely turned off or dimmed? Thanks for the nice video!
I would strongly assume interior lighting can be dimmed. Nearly all automakers have this as adjustable
I don't find the lighting on my ID 3 disturbing. you can dim the lighting or switch it off completely.
The Crown has stiff competition!
Oh, I want one now.
If it is built in Germany, I am buying it.
Good news, it will be built in Emden, Germany
Biggest fault of id 4 is weak sound system. Hope to see @least Bose 9 speakers in standard id.7
Looks way better then the Hyundai 6
Anybody know the sound system this may have?
Nvm, found it. 14 speaker HK.
VW usa website has figures for this ev but here in Canada we qualify for the $5000 rebate
I would pick the Nio ET7 or Byd Han over the ID7 if they are around the same prices.. being they are more in the luxury sedan range over the Ioniq 6.
China made, good luck.
Electric Arteon it is then. I'm interested to see comparison tests vs the Model 3 & Ioniq 6
If the numbers from VW are legit. Both Ioniq and Model 3 got no chance against this.
@@jonpetter8921 I drove the Ioniq 6 last week. The new Model 3 Highland is coming in 2024. It's going to be more fierce than you think.
@@KyleHubb I don t see a new Model 3 beating the boot size of this, if they can even beat the 700 km (435 mi) range. And pretty sure when it comes to interior and build quality you know who wins.
The ID 7 is both Model 3 and S killer at the same time.
Edit: Ioniq 6 boot space is pretty bad also this beat the Ioniq 6 is range and would also say this has better interior and roomier, many smart tech.
@@jonpetter8921 The only place this car beats Tesla is in quality. That is where I will agree with you.
Tesla killer in interior quality build comfort, especially for long trips. The only problem is the charger network.
Id7 vs the BYD 2023 Han and Nio ET 7.. they look almost identical in some ways.. hope the info software system in the VW is much better now over the complaints from ID4 users that faced issues... via their feedback.
This has my attention! If they wanna beat Tesla the software can't be an afterthought
The interior quality looks very nice, definitely on par with the i4 or Audi A5. Wayyy better than what they were doing before with their cost cutting. However, that makes me a little concerned about the price. I think this is definitely going to targeted more upscale than the Ioniq 6, and I bet the price will reflect that. Hopefully it's not too expensive. Rumours are that it's starting around $50k. If that's the case I'd rather just get a BMW i4.
Does it have the horrible capacitive buttons on the steering wheel?
Unfortunately, yes.
@@rogerc4963 Thanks
I'm guessing a 18 month wait time?
Is it the same size as the Taycan?
It's bigger than the Taycan.
@@nicholassmith7048 thanks!
Hi sofian ,can you review the Ford Ranger Raptor 2023
Needs that 4motion and hopefully an R model but knowing VW they will make an R only for Europe or only a Concept. They try to play the “family” friendly game.
I’d trade in my car now for that thing
Lucky you!
That very hot glass roof should be optional, not standard. In hot, sunny climates that is very bad feature.
I think it looks nice. Interested to see the pricing BUT it looks like a small crossover not what I would call a sedan.
Bryant, mate, it’s nearly 5 metres long, or 195 INCHES !!
It’s a very large sedan with a hatchback rear door!!
It’s nothing like a tall SUV !!
Were you F**KING asleep when you “watched” the video???

Charge port on the wrong side for Tesla (magic dock) chargers.
Starting price estimated over $50K? Not priced for the masses.
I heard this was replacing the Passat, not Arteon? ..Also, My '23 Jetta can get 450 miles out of one full tank. I absolutely love it and will want to get a VW EV but not until a single charge comes anywhere close to that. I don't think 300 miles is that much tbh.
***ALSO, THIS WILL QUALIFY FOR THE TAX CREDIT IF YOU LEASE IT** In this situation its considered a commercial vehicle and is an exemption in the Inflation Reduction Act!
I really like this
Ferdinand Porsche would approve.
👍👍👍
Remember , one of his first vehicles was electric.
VW needs to put that infotainment into a refresh ID4 immediately. They could be stealing Model Y owners away if they could manage to do that fast.
Unfortunately, the infotainment and the software are not yet ready for series production
It is not The 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 but 2024. Now it is 2023 and VW is selling the model year 2024. Where did you get this 2025?
SOFYAN 👏👏👏 .....
That front facing camera seems totally out of place, you would think VW would’ve done a better job of keeping it discreet and out of sight.
And the MSRP will be $103,295, not including Dealer fees!
Make this an AWD crossover or a full SUV and it will sell very well.
There are already a million suvs. We don’t need another electric vehicle where all of the range is compromised by the wind resistance from it being lifted way off of the ground.

Nice!
Arteon was much, much better looking. And the interior was miles better too. VW hasn’t learned a thing from the backlash.
As an Arteon owner myself, I agree that the Arteon is still a better looking vehicle...
However, I do nevertheless believe that this is a very good effort in terms of styling, interior space efficiency, practicality, and massive range (700 kms/400 miles!!)
I will 100% consider this as a replacement for my Arteon, when it eventually becomes available here in Australia 🙂🙂
There are currently 6 cars from the ID family including this.
6 globally, but only the 3rd model confirmed to be coming to the USA!
@@theredline Hopefully you guys will get the ID 3 in the future...
VW we want the bus, it's like 10 -20 years already since the first concept.
Glad to see they learned nothing from all the id4 mistakes.
2024 or 2042?
Rear wheel drive, one motor, no frunk, and smaller battery? Why??
Still only two window switches and touch buttons everywhere…
VW is like is always missing something, now the driver dashboard, which is so small , that would be better to omit it at all
it would be so much cheaper to make the infotainment just a host for your apple carplay/android audio. Make the rest optional for those who are interested.
I’m prefer the polestar 4
maybe on their next EV they’ll go back to physical controls ☠️, regardless, an AWD version of this where you put the same rear motor in the front.. 👀
If an AWD version TOTALED 282hp I'd be happy 😂
Will people stop calling it a sedan and instead call it what it is: fastback/hatch.
An electric Toyota Crown
No $7,500 credit! 😮
manul hood stand... come on.. they couldn't give a decent hood lift.
Everyone gets AWD long range EVs, so of course VW ships a small battery, RWD model first...
If this was configured properly, I'd consider trading my LR Model Y in, but not in this configuration... VW keeps whiffing.
Body shape is nice, really feels like a proper Arteon replacement, which was already a baby A7. A great all around vehicle and while the touch buttons are still inside - the sliders are finally illuminated, thank god! Honestly, compared the current infotainment system (which I own in the GTI) this feels like a better use of space and once someone gets used to it, there will probably be less irritation. I wish there was a way to upgrade my infotainment to the next level of VW interiors.
Electric VW models start to look like Playmobil designed...
....I did not know that Kris Rifa had a brother?
Please sell the estate version. I dont care if VW calls it a suv.
