Stuff like this is why I don't mind the governments doing all the spying that they do. They have the capability of looking into anyone and that generally sucks and has the potential of sucking even more depending on who is in charge.
But on the other hand, the ability to spy on people catches plots like this, and because there are just so many people, you have to be suspected of doing something serious to have the feds looking in on you. Running a dark web operated CSAM ring/ threatening the president (cough Daniel Larson cough)/conducting terrorist plots level serious.
Basically I'm glad they caught these guys.

So the guy from the US puts the entire operation at risk by going behind Britain's back putting the UK public at risk (if they realised they couldn't carry out the original plan it's pretty likely they'd have just used the bombs in the UK) and then the guy 'escapes' and then is subsequently 'deceased'... What an idiot, the most annoying part is that he's still so pleased with himself.

56:25 So the CIA director proudly admits he double-crossed MI5, putting lives at risk and jeopardising the intelligence gathering operation in order to accelerate the arrests. Hundreds of agents were monitoring the suspects and everyone they met 24/7, so it seems they had the situation under control with minimal risk of them slipping under the radar and carry out the operation. Why not arrest the actual would-be bombers first and then ask Pakistan to get the mastermind, whose whereabouts they already knew? I'm baffled by this decision by CIA and their lack of trust in MI5 to do their job.

They cut out a significant chunk of this episode from the TV broadcast - certainly the one that I watched. One that provides an important bit of context. At the beginning of the week of the 7th of August, they had planned to arrest the plotters on the Friday. On the Monday, someone on the No Fly List was discovered to be flying on a transatlantic flight out of London Heathrow, and Kip Hawley ordered that the plane be put on the ground at once, before it had even left British airspace. The person in question was not actually with the plotters, but it made everyone on the American side jumpy and nervous - they immediately started putting Air Marshals on all flights between the UK and America, and started looking at enacting the liquid ban early. And this, in turn, escalated the tension over when to make the arrest, and was one of the principal reasons that Michael Hayden went to Pakistan. That in no way justifies Michael Hayden's decision to go to Pakistan, which was a very reckless move. But it does kinda explain the context in which it happened.

We need to think who our friends are but I don't think Pakistan is our friend, the fact that he was let go after the arrests makes me wonder because weren't they supposed to get the go from him first or did they make him do it then sent him on his way with a target on his back.

All of this would have happened in some form, islamic terror wasn't invented when US invaded Afghanistan. Which was a response to Al Qaeda attacking WTC a 2. time, this time killing around 4000 people.

Of 24 suspects who were arrested in and around London on the night of 9 August 2006, eight were initially tried for terrorism offences in connection with the plot. The first trial took place from April to September 2008. The jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft, but did find three men guilty of conspiracy to murder and acquitted one other of all charges. In September 2009, a second trial (of the now seven originally accused but with the addition of another man) found three men guilty of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft and one other guilty of conspiracy to murder, while the 'additional' man was cleared of all terrorist charges.[2]
In July 2010, a further three of the accused were found guilty at a third trial at Woolwich Crown Court of conspiracy to murder.[3] Thus, of the nine men tried, two were acquitted and seven found guilty of conspiracy charges.

"The following is not written by me. I don't know if its correct or not.
      The Breadwinner!
Muslim family have eleven children (Australia).
      Breadwinner is the fertile daughter.
This story is from a doctor in Melbourne...
So, where do you think it will all end, OR, when do you think
      Our governments will wake up!!!???
      The new breadwinners in Australia:
Here is how a doctor explains it:
A woman in her late 20's came to the hospital today with her
      8th pregnancy.
She said to me "My mum told me that I am the breadwinner for the family."
      I asked her to explain.
She said that she can make babies and babies get money from the
      Government for the family.
It goes like this:The Grandma calls the Department of child services and
Centrelink, and states that the unemployed daughter is not
Capable of caring for all of her kids. And they agree, then
Tells her the children will need to go into foster care.
The Grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and
Receives a cheque for $400 per child each month.
Total yearly income $72000pa and soon to be more when
The 8th one is born, tax-free and nobody has to go to work!
In fact, they get more if there is no husband/father/man in
The home! The brother does not count.
Not to mention free dental treatment, free housing,
Free school dinners, free tuition fees at college or Uni,
Free eye care and glasses, free prescriptions and various
      Other benefits...
Total value of all benefits combined probably approaching
      $120,000 per annum.
That's about my salary as a senior consultant with years of
Experience and surgical skills in a Melbourne teaching hospital.
Indeed, Grandma was correct that her fertile daughter is
      The "breadwinner" for the family.
This is how the politicians spend our taxes.
When this generous programme was invented in the '60s,
The Great Society architects forgot to craft an end date,
And now we are hopelessly over run with people who vote only
For those who will continue to keep them on the dole.....
No wonder our country is broke!
Worse, our Muslim brothers have been paying attention, and
By mandating that each Muslim family have eleven children.
They will soon replace the voting bloc above and can be
Running this country in around 12 years.
Are we alarmed yet, is anybody listening?
Please know I am not racist nor am I against Immigration, I
Just worry where this uncontrolled sort of immigration is
Going to take this wonderful country. There must be limits
And controls in place or in around 12 years or less we will
Be going to midday prayers at the local mosque.
That's a simple fact of life my friends. They clearly
Intend to force that upon us.
      Sincerely,
I have removed the writers name,
      Melbourne Vic
Don't forget to pay your taxes!!
There are a lot of "breadwinners" depending on you!
      HELLO!!! Well? Is anybody listening??"

Prattling on about 'immigrants' is plain daft, given that the British population is made up of immigrant families, and British 'culture' is a mish-mash of of the culture of other European countries. Unfortunately, our isolationist and xenophobic middle Englander types just don't get it and insist that Britain is somehow different to, and superior to, the rest of Europe. We are certainly different, but not in any way, superior. We're inferior in many ways to other European countries. In music, for example. Art too. Architecture...I could go on. Regardless of the lineage of the monarchy, their position in society is an anachronism. The public funding the lifestyle of an enormously wealthy family, who are above the law? What is that all about? Britain calls itself a democracy, but in a true democracy, the head of state is elected by the people, not foisted upon them purely because those people happen to be born into the right family. The latest crap with Phillip is a case of this...if a 'normal' person of his age had crashed their car, they would have been forced to retake their driving test...why does this law not apply to him?

      @harrisonfury3996 4 года назад +2

@@thesilentgeneration in case you didn't understand from the video, the UK decided to wait as long as possible before the attack even took place so that when they did arrest them, they would get a huge life sentence with the solid concrete evidence that they had gathered for weeks. As the former Home Secretary said, if they arrested too early, there may be questionable evidence in the court case, therefore they would get a lower sentence and released prematurely and remain a danger to society. The CIA didn't like this plan so they told Pakistan and left the UK in the dark. This could have went horribly wrong as they could have fled or moved the attack to an earlier date, one which nobody would be prepared for and thousands of people dead. I don't really understand why you are criticizing the unarmed surveillance police as they did the job perfectly under the circumstances the CIA and Pakistan had left them in. The CIA risked thousands of lives and jobs just so they could have it their way, absolutely disgusting if you ask me.
