That is not correct more & more British Police are being armed these days. I even read a report on the BBC about a proposal to have armed Police in rural areas too! I'm damn proud of the CIA for their good work in not allowing the British to diddle around and eat crumpets while waiting like little schoolboys. All evidence was sufficient at the time. The suicide videos and bomb making materials were there at the house hidden long by the time they were arrested
They cut out a significant chunk of this episode from the TV broadcast - certainly the one that I watched. One that provides an important bit of context. At the beginning of the week of the 7th of August, they had planned to arrest the plotters on the Friday. On the Monday, someone on the No Fly List was discovered to be flying on a transatlantic flight out of London Heathrow, and Kip Hawley ordered that the plane be put on the ground at once, before it had even left British airspace. The person in question was not actually with the plotters, but it made everyone on the American side jumpy and nervous - they immediately started putting Air Marshals on all flights between the UK and America, and started looking at enacting the liquid ban early. And this, in turn, escalated the tension over when to make the arrest, and was one of the principal reasons that Michael Hayden went to Pakistan. That in no way justifies Michael Hayden's decision to go to Pakistan, which was a very reckless move. But it does kinda explain the context in which it happened.
I agree, it could have been a disaster, but not good telling Pakistan but not the British. Another cover up by the CIA?I would hope this guy is dead and not working for them. We need to think who our friends are but I don't think Pakistan is our friend, the fact that he was let go after the arrests makes me wonder because weren't they supposed to get the go from him first or did they make him do it then sent him on his way with a target on his back.
As a British citizen I applaud our security services, well done lads and ladies. And as a British citizen I wouldn't want it any other way. If I thought I saw a threat to Britain I would be straight on the phone to the police. Because I am British through and through.
In essence. These officers would have no doubt done years on the beat or years on a response team before moving to a specialist role as a surveillance officer. As a serving UK officer in a London force, that's usually how it works.
The reason the US had some trust in the Pakistanis is because like he said they had worked with them previously on many arrests. However, because they let Rouf escape, the US never gave them that level of trust again and when they found Bin Laden in Pakistan later, they never told them they were coming.
@Shreyas Ragit Al Qaeda members fought against the Sovjet imperialists, they where formed after this in 1988 and even backed and trained by the so-called imperialist from USA. All of this would have happened in some form, islamic terror wasn't invented when US invaded Afghanistan. Which was a response to Al Qaeda attacking WTC a 2. time, this time killing around 4000 people. And invading a country doesnt equal imperialism. The first trial took place from April to September 2008. The jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft, but did find three men guilty of conspiracy to murder and acquitted one other of all charges. In September 2009, a second trial (of the now seven originally accused but with the addition of another man) found three men guilty of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft and one other guilty of conspiracy to murder, while the 'additional' man was cleared of all terrorist charges.[2] In July 2010, a further three of the accused were found guilty at a third trial at Woolwich Crown Court of conspiracy to murder.[3] Thus, of the nine men tried, two were acquitted and seven found guilty of conspiracy charges.

@@thesilentgeneration in case you didn't understand from the video, the UK decided to wait as long as possible before the attack even took place so that when they did arrest them, they would get a huge life sentence with the solid concrete evidence that they had gathered for weeks. The CIA didn't like this plan so they told Pakistan and left the UK in the dark. They did the right thing by delaying arrest. If they didn't those guys wouldn't have got maximum sentences. That American guy was so ignorant and smug about bombing the guy, whilst the British arrested all the others in 48 hours with zero weapons.
Jay Jay great comment! Of course we did it without weapons. Proud of our police forces and security services who do it all without guns. 😊
That is not correct more & more British Police are being armed these days. I even read a report on the BBC about a proposal to have armed Police in rural areas too!
And in the video they said "no arrest team was available" & they made the decision to send in the surveillance team "which is something we never do", but on that occasion they had no choice. And the arrest team most certainly would be armed.
andrew heywood We've always had a professional Armed police force, but it was unarmed standard police who made the arrests. Anyway, I'd trust any British Officer with a weapon, If needs be. There still would have been no shots fired. What's worse is, lying about bombing a man...and being proud to say so.
Everyone is armed in america.
And children kille children, it's no surprise the agencies kill overseas without second thoughts. I suppose the Brits would have been really pissed, with reason.
Never will I moan about having to go through security again.

Thank you
I agree, it could have been a disaster, but not good telling Pakistan but not the British.

I can't believe that American who flew to pakistan and told there government what was going on and actually trusted them pfft
But you know, what ever fits the narrative of the victim-role champions from MENA..

Of 24 suspects who were arrested in and around London on the night of 9 August 2006, eight were initially tried for terrorism offences in connection with the plot. The first trial took place from April to September 2008. The jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft, but did find three men guilty of conspiracy to murder and acquitted one other of all charges. In September 2009, a second trial (of the now seven originally accused but with the addition of another man) found three men guilty of conspiracy to kill by blowing up aircraft and one other guilty of conspiracy to murder, while the 'additional' man was cleared of all terrorist charges.[2]
In July 2010, a further three of the accused were found guilty at a third trial at Woolwich Crown Court of conspiracy to murder.[3] Thus, of the nine men tried, two were acquitted and seven found guilty of conspiracy charges.

"The following is not written by me. I don't know if its correct or not.
The Breadwinner!
Muslim family have eleven children (Australia).
Breadwinner is the fertile daughter.
This story is from a doctor in Melbourne...
So, where do you think it will all end, OR, when do you think
Our governments will wake up!!!???
The new breadwinners in Australia:
Here is how a doctor explains it:
A woman in her late 20's came to the hospital today with her
8th pregnancy.
She said to me "My mum told me that I am the breadwinner for the family."
I asked her to explain.
She said that she can make babies and babies get money from the
Government for the family.
It goes like this:The Grandma calls the Department of child services and
Centrelink, and states that the unemployed daughter is not
Capable of caring for all of her kids. And they agree, then
Tells her the children will need to go into foster care.
The Grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and
Receives a cheque for $400 per child each month.
Total yearly income $72000pa and soon to be more when
The 8th one is born, tax-free and nobody has to go to work!
In fact, they get more if there is no husband/father/man in
The home! The brother does not count.
Not to mention free dental treatment, free housing,
Free school dinners, free tuition fees at college or Uni,
Free eye care and glasses, free prescriptions and various
Other benefits...
Total value of all benefits combined probably approaching
$120,000 per annum.
That's about my salary as a senior consultant with years of
Experience and surgical skills in a Melbourne teaching hospital.
Indeed, Grandma was correct that her fertile daughter is
The "breadwinner" for the family.
This is how the politicians spend our taxes.
When this generous programme was invented in the '60s,
The Great Society architects forgot to craft an end date,
And now we are hopelessly over run with people who vote only
For those who will continue to keep them on the dole.....
No wonder our country is broke!
Worse, our Muslim brothers have been paying attention, and
By mandating that each Muslim family have eleven children.
They will soon replace the voting bloc above and can be
Running this country in around 12 years.
Are we alarmed yet, is anybody listening?
Please know I am not racist nor am I against Immigration, I
Just worry where this uncontrolled sort of immigration is
Going to take this wonderful country. There must be limits
And controls in place or in around 12 years or less we will
Be going to midday prayers at the local mosque.
That's a simple fact of life my friends. They clearly
Intend to force that upon us.
Sincerely,
I have removed the writers name,
Melbourne Vic
Don't forget to pay your taxes!!
There are a lot of "breadwinners" depending on you!

@@chelseagreer6264 that's of zero consequence, really. You've missed the point of my comment entirely. Unfortunately, our isolationist and xenophobic middle Englander types just don't get it and insist that Britain is somehow different to, and superior to, the rest of Europe. We are certainly different, but not in any way, superior. We're inferior in many ways to other European countries. In music, for example. Art too. Architecture...I could go on. Regardless of the lineage of the monarchy, their position in society is an anachronism. The public funding the lifestyle of an enormously wealthy family, who are above the law? What is that all about? Britain calls itself a democracy, but in a true democracy, the head of state is elected by the people, not foisted upon them purely because those people happen to be born into the right family. The latest crap with Phillip is a case of this...if a 'normal' person of his age had crashed their car, they would have been forced to retake their driving test...why does this law not apply to him?

The UK did an amazing job all other actors failed....
@@thesilentgeneration in case you didn't understand from the video, the UK decided to wait as long as possible before the attack even took place so that when they did arrest them, they would get a huge life sentence with the solid concrete evidence that they had gathered for weeks. As the former Home Secretary said, if they arrested too early, there may be questionable evidence in the court case, therefore they would get a lower sentence and released prematurely and remain a danger to society. The CIA didn't like this plan so they told Pakistan and left the UK in the dark. This could have went horribly wrong as they could have fled or moved the attack to an earlier date, one which nobody would be prepared for and thousands of people dead. I don't really understand why you are criticizing the unarmed surveillance police as they did the job perfectly under the circumstances the CIA and Pakistan had left them in.
