The tempo was so fast i started singing the mechanix
Megadeth looks diferent here
Metallica >megadeath
Didn’t know Dave played an ESP! lmfao
@@dropdead.1 shut the fuck up and stop comparing two great bands
@joseph carmine nero but he can match him in songwriting and riffs and guitar skill, not everything is about downpicking even though james is a god
@joseph carmine nero yup, you either love or hate daves vocals, for me personally i think they're good and perfect for megadeth, couldn't imagine him in any other band though, but yeah its a love it or hate it
In 1986 they played fast as fuck
+Matteo Vitali no, the megadeth version is fast as fuck
+steven liu Megadeth version is total shit
steven liu Megadeth in studio is fast as Metallica live! But you have to admit that the 4 horsemen lyrics are much much better, and i prefer to hear that slower
Will Chole no u
Boyyyyyyy
I love that Dave recorded the Mechanix faster to make Metallica look bad, and then Metallica just plays The Four Horsemen live faster than that and actually palm mutes it
What a power move
Megadeth have played Mechanix live even faster than this, but still impressive
@@Mi-by3fg lol no

Here.
i read everything
Can wait for someone to invent a time machine
Jesus Gonzalez i am going right to seattle 1989
I would destroy the top bunk so cliff would have to sleep on the ground or something. Maybe that will save him.
That’ll never be a thing
Is been proven many times
+Jesus Gonzalez- "time machine" as in, to make time travel possible? Or, as in to maybe assist Lars in "keeping"....(lol) time? Like a metronome?
Think of it this way. If a time machine was possible then at some point in the future someone would have gone back to our time and told us about it cause time is infinite
Speed is a hell of a drug

We all here have GREAT taste in music!
The best live performence of The Four Horsemen (my opinion)
I saw them on this tour McAllen ,Tx... 2 months later Ckiff was dead. Everybody at school in disbelief...
This is so raw, like a beheaded chicken running around sprouting blood.
I was in high school from 86-90 and got into Metallica in 84. RTL was one of my first albums ever purchased. When I was in high school, Metallica was a bunch of nobody’s, and only myself and about four others in my High School even knew who these guys were. I was the only one who wore a Metallica patched up Jean jacket every day. I used to collect rare Metallica albums back then. I still have my collection stored away somewhere (Different colored vinyl albums of Creeping Death & Jump in the Fire as well as picture discs, bootleg concert recordings, interview picture discs, etc). I remember When AJFA came out, we had about 10-15 more students in the school that suddenly became fans. I knew things would never be the same from that point on. Once they hit the mainstream and became popular (pretty much from 1990 and on), I pretty much lost interest, as the nostalgia of being in that small exclusive club of fans was gone.
Man I wish they hadn't toured so much. James would still have that fukn growling voice..
Considering that in the early days they didn't do videos and rarely did interviews, touring was really the only thing they could do that would get their name out there.
also remember all the drugs and beers, that fucked up his voice too
TheUtgardian Channel only beer lol
filmed in 86?!! Way better footage of some of the crap people filmed with the latest technology.
And those 86' cameras captured the sound better than anything.
+☢TruckMafk TM™" people cared back then
Bcoz the actors were doing better n natural than now
this has to be Metallica's best performance. ever. Hetfield's voice at its best!!!!!!
now this IS METALLICA!!!
Though i don't listen speed - thrash metal anymore, i can't forget this song..It was my fav Metallica song..It was at the Kill'em all, as i remember and Dave Mustaine had takken part in the synthesis, writing of the song, if i'm right..So much powerful riffs, it was underrated, as the most people like the Seek and Destroy from Kill'em all..Anyway..
Hetfield was killin it with the muted power chords
this show happened on my 1st birthday :)
lol this ain't the four horsemen, its mechanix at this tempo haha
this is your first warning
Allan Aguirre and this is your shut the fuck up
+Anarchist Whiskey Please stop with that. Your comment is useless.
Dont mind the retards, lol.
yes it is, with much better lyrics
i am 100% not gay, but look at him! fucking gorgeous!
I'm not gay but I'd totally swallow all their cum BigTimes! whilst tossing SweatyRimJobs to them!
I know. The way his back sweat rolls down to the crack of his ass......
Anything in this world gets old.
Badass. Love me some old school Metallica. Back in the day when Metallica played fast and brutal
Looks like James was surprised at Jason's vocals at 4:16
Or annoyed
Wow this is great clarity!! sound clarity I can actually hear the kick drum
Funny how even tho Dave co wrote, they played slow on the no life till leather.
+m169marroquin dave had part of the riff. he wrote the lyrics to mechanix, then james changed them. dave's version sucks.
+michael andrews yea
It doesn't suck
Dave's version is nowhere near as good as the four horsemen
Kasperr cause their opinion is different to yours?
Now this is the untouchable Metallica!
and the clarity in the guitar notes, wow fantastic thank you for posting!!
cliff died on 9/26/86 RIP
9/27/86
4:16 Jason:deaaaathhhh, James:oh nice man a- ha... JASON I love you man!
Very good mobile camera for 1986, the video recorded of most cameras of 1986 was like a cartoons
I didn't know that Metallica played The Mechanix on this.....
They've played it at fillmore last year with the Sweet Home Alabama part :)
This is 86 i like it when James says it old song only 3years apart. Gd times. In life. Saw Cliff ERA 4x was really gd as can be
Wow.wasn't expecting a speeded up version awesome.one of my favorite Metallica songs
how lars triple paddle that fast ?? i wish i have his leg that time , so damn fast
I wish he kept that leg
they played the middle solo part at the 30th anniversary concert at the filmore, look it up its pretty awesome.
How come they don’t play that part often? I’ve noticed it’s tough to find a live performance where they include both solos.
@@themoderndaystoner7967apparently its literally just sweet home alabama and they removed it
wow his voice was soo amazing back then!
For those of you sniffling bastards who say Kirk sucks, check out the solo at 5:18
And then slap yourself in the face really hard.
Mustaine actual wrote the first version of that solo, Kirk copied it ...
Cra yge
Kirk actually copied the first 4 base bars of the solo from Mustaine and then went from there and rewrote it.
Haha Kirk made it more soulful. It sounds fukn amazing man
long live metal!
How i wish there were HD recordings from 1981-1988...
3:40 One of the best Thrash riffs ever, if not the best
god jaymz is right at home with that guitar, fantastic timing!
the good old days .. playin all the song in a super fast tempo ..
Oh God, the speed and intensity o_o \m/
It really sucks that James didn't scream the lyrics live back then I'm so glad he does now
best setlist ever!
I was there!!!
0:22 James is reading the sign
What sign?
in the crowd, the poster
Great quality.thanks uploader! METALLICA FUCKING RULEZ THE UNIVERSE
amazing solo
This is the Metallica I love.
Metallica forever!!!!!
Funny I went and bought an Explorer like James's in 1986, just because he's the only dude that can rock one like him.
Great clear vid, thx for sharing \m/
You still have it?
kickass setlist!
In the same year, the guys came to Brazil....i was there in two fucking best ever shows!!!!...great times.
You speak so much sense my friend.
dream setlist
Why the hell do the same so called fans bitch no matter what or how Metallica plays a song ? I mean today they've sold out , they cut their hair, or they don't play as fast and then you watch an old video back in the day and ask why are they playing to fast or that doesn't sound right because Lars is doing this or Kirk not doing that , come on people no band sounds the same over a 30 year period. If you're going to be a Metallica fan be a fan. Do I like everything they've done why hell no but am I going to to quit being a fan that would be a big hell no and do I miss the old days yes with a passion. I love to listen to slayer, megadeth, and anthrax but do you know why they don't go outside the box like Metallica it because they will lose all their fans if they even tried to test the waters Metallica did. So don't judge me I just want everyone to be a fan if you were lucky enough to grow up during that era and I'm 49 so I know little of what I'm talking about.
I call the slow part "Sweet Home Alabama part" because the guitar riff is pretty similar. It has the same rhythm. It's the part that starts at 3:28 in the studio version.
Thirty years ago to this day if the date here is the 5th
@MaggaraMarine example fade to black solo and orion solos. Man those are just beatyful
5:17 I fucking liked that "ooh"
Velocity inspired by The Mechanix
Ah this is so awesome... just got home from bar. Its fucking 02:00 at night and i have wached metallica videos now 2 hours. Drunk as hell but no problem.. i'm rocking in my room now!
wow, blazing! this is a great show, had this fucker on VHS bootleg back in the day. havnt seen this footage in decades. really captures that energy of Jason being new and the band being pissed as fuck and there is that weird green lighting the whole time. fuck, they used to play with fucking balls eh? too easy to talk shit now, but man, in 85, 86, those guys were at the top of their game, even lars. gonna have to check if the rest of the show is up, I seem to remember a smoking version of thing that should not be in this set.
@ThulensOrd The date is written the American way, December 5, 1986, not the European way. You can look it up and you see that Metallica played Quebec City on that date.
yep jason was in metallica in 1986 and it was on the damage inc tour
I agree, but... you can't appreciate the "old school" style and say... "Good Ol' times!" ;)
my thoughts exactly
@vild3r:
Cliff died during the Master of Puppets tour man. They took Jason so quickly because they had the Japanese tour right after his death. So the first part of the Puppets tour they did with Cliff, the second part with Jason (1986 and 1987)
No man, Metallica came at first time to Brazil in October 1989. Two shows in São Paulo and one show in Rio de Janeiro, in the tour of ...And Justice for all album!
Unfortunately I had only two years and didn't see the show! hahaha
cuando yo era un muchacho de 12 años que grupo grande
RIP Cliff.
Nothing like having Cliff singing
Time Machine + HD Camera
The PHA-KOUGH guitar
@thereinr2 this is December of 1986 its Jason on the bass. in the US we put month, day, year 12/5/1986
James was a beast
Metallica was better when they were dangerous alcoholics........but they kickass these days though
+Ser Twenty Of House Goodmen Nah, Megadeth and Anthrax kicked more ass than Slayer. Even today, they kinda suck. Any album after Divine Intervention is a joke compared to anything Megadeth and Anthrax have been doing. Hell, even now they still lack, Repentless is a joke compared to Dystopia and For All Kings.
Alessandro Morales and Hardwired too
I like how he sings at 2:52
@@alessandromorales14 thank you.
Jpthxq stupid comment. Metallica still kicking ass.
a québec en 1986 j'aurais tellement voulu être là
@maxwillson Hey man, the Puppets Tour just was only one...the dates "post Cliff 's death" were cancelled, but the tour re-sheduled on November 11,1986 with the first Jason' s gig until February 1987...
Damage Inc. Tour 1986-1987....
Well in this video they play the song in the same tempo as Mechanix studio version and you hear the solo played at the same speed here. So Kirk can't play it? Watch the video and you see Kirk playing the solo here.
I'm pretty sure Dave couldn't play as melodic solo as the "Sweet Home Alabama" part solo (the slow part in the studio version). It's not Dave's style but still. I think it's one of Kirk's best solos. IMO melody > speed (of course depends on solo).
LOL nice!!!!
I love how in the early days lars is up so high you cant see him and his hair is in his way LOL
On concerts they have play 200% speed song's :D
watch 3:50 - 4:00. pretty sure description is wrong and its the damage inc tour 5th of December in Quebec City. cliff had longer hair and was not playing with a pick :)
THAT WAS REAL FAST MAN
@Reallystoned1420 december five man check out the set list : JASON BASS SOLO
insanely fast!
They actually started to play that fast just before Cliffs death
How do kids grow up without music idols like Hetfield?
Holy shit thats fast.
metallica is my favourite band but still i can see lars leave so many drum solo, master piece rolling as in recorded version...
me encanta la velocidad que empleaban en el pasado
2:50 They've come to take your life with fuckin amazing melody! znbkabfg, hail metallica !
yes i agree, that was wrong date, cause on may of that year Cliff was stilled alive and jason comes to the band on Octuber of 86
Pipe Trejos
Its december, not may.
5 stands for the Day in the american writting way of date
Sadly no this was just after he passed away. It says in the setlist that Jason Newstead has a bass solo.
He's had three confirmed Gibson 84 explorers (the ones with that triangle volume tone etc knobs). One was just all white, one had a "So what" sticker on it and a "More Beer!!" sticker. There was a Jagermister sticker Explorer but I can't confirm if it was a gibson or not.
that was a fucking energized james
This was when Lars knew how to play those fucking drums.
And yeah, good old times indeed.
The year i was born
