The developers could have made this a lot easier. Making large open court yards is not to hard with the grid system but then you can't place buildings on top of it. Building paths should be the easiest part of the game.
They should have included a tutorial level just for building paths in the game. It's so frustrating to have no idea of how to build them and then see all these amazing things in the pre built zoos. Thank you so much for this video! This is going to inspire me to more great building and probably also a whole new set of challenges :D
Bought Planet zoo recently, I have lots of cool ideas, but I'm pulling hairs in frustration cos I can't execute them due to wonky path system, never does what I want it to do lol
It takes a long time to get used to it. Practice and practice and practice. It gets easier, trust me- I started playing around Christmas and only now am I ALMOST completely used to it lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just started playing Planet Zoo, and the path system has been driving me insane, so many times I have rage quit just because of having trubble with placing paths
Absolutely going to be returning to this video a few times. You're a path wizard, thank you so much! I thought I was getting the hang of it, but then it started frustrating me again and I went searching for answers, and came across this haha
It can't be stressed enough how awesome U and J keys are because they let you change path elevation WITHOUT placing it. (in contrast to left mouse button) I was today years old when I found this out in another vid and it has definitely taken some of the nightmare out of pathing in PZ for me.
This is the best path tutorial that I’ve seen for this game. I really struggle with this aspect and find it incredibly frustrating. Thanks so very much for your advice.
I owe you one, you saved my zoo I think. I built this MASSIVE sea lion aquarium that has enough water and land you hold 35 adult sea lions. I wanted it to be the center piece of my zoo as you walk in. The idea was to have ground level view at the front as well as an underwater view right underneath the ground path. I built the under water view and have been struggling all day to put pathing above it. I was about to put my sea lions and my grizzly bears in storage and delete my zoo and start over. But you showed me something in this video that kind makes it work. You're amazing
Probably the best and most thorough explanation for paths you can find. Makes designing a more holistic exhibit and overall zoo a million times easier.
Dear Lady, Thank you for this... there are so many many Tutorials of Pathing out there, and many very good ones. and THIS counts for me personally to my "Top 3 TutVids"... Thank you Greetz
Thank you for making these tutorials! You have made my Planet Zoo experience so much more fun and imaginative. I was having such trouble figuring out these tools on my own haha.
I've got a ton of ideas for more unique habitats now that I watched this video. 😊 I'll be sure to watch you other tutorials for even more inspiration. 🤭
This is such a good video, and the little tips you put in the top left that say what keys you're pressing are such an excellent detail. Thank you for this!
This video is so helpful, I just bought the game 2 weeks ago and have made some really ugly, rough zoos without knowing these little intricacies. UM ALSO her accent is really striking too, it's like part Dutch, part British and part American!
Thank you for a detailed and well put together tutorial. I was struggling trying to figure out the paths even after watch several other tutorials... Definitely subscribing to your channel.
Actually with the last update you have an easier way to make this! Check out my overview video of the South America pack where I mention and show this.. its part of the free update, so you dont need the pack for it 😘
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you took out of your day to create these videos!! They are so informative, and very good visuals. I am relatively new to planet zoo and this kind of building game but im getting to the brave point of wanting to explore other options. This was super helpful!!
Thank you for this amazing path tutorial. Yesterday I nearly freaked out because not to be able to create the paths as I want and not as the game wants. 🤯 Now I will rebuild my pinguin habitat with the aid of your tutorial.
another good trick for raising paths is using a shop, align it to your path with advanced move tool, and pull the shop back a bit, and raise it so it creates stairs. Place the store, and then delete it: the stairs it has created stay.
Dang your blowing my mind with these videos, as someone new to the planet games these are so helpful. By far the best tutorial videos for the game ive come across. Will pointing my friends in your direction
BRILLIANT now I can create a better looking path than the game gives me (watches video, Watches again with pauses and takes lots of written notes). Thank you for this tutorial x
Best tutorial video ive seen in a long time. i had alot of issues doing those squares for mini habitats, cuase i didnt know the "align to grid" button. i realy dont like that they have so many options but it not quite says what they do.. like one for the paths that mention a tunnel or something.. but its a thumbs up on this video. realy good.!
Great stuff as always @DeLadysigner! I am finally getting in to Planet Zoo after over a year of owning the game. The Artic, Australian and Aquatic packs hooked me for sure. I enjoy all of your stuff and it helps out a lot! Thank you.
I don't know if it's just me and might be a silly question - but when building viewing platforms with lowered enclosures, how do I attach the gate? And how do I get staff down there? Been trying forever!
12:23 the same techniques here, but if you have your path long and over water then you can seal both sides with some kind of fence, rocks, or other non transversable barricade that animals cant pass through and run an invisible barrier along each side (note: NOT down the middle of the path itself) you can get the appearence of walkthrough exhibits for things like crocadilians or big cats where your guests would normally avoid the paths because they are predators. That way since the path itself isnt running through the actual habitat it doesnt trigger the flee option for animals guests would normally run from if you had used the guest gates instead to make a walkthrough exhibit. This is because the gameis not reading it as the guests being in the exhibit itself dispite the illusion of it. This way you can have it look like the guests are walking right through, say, a lion exhibit by having two lion habitats on both sides that aren't actually conected but give the illusion of being one big habitat (which also has the advantage that you can trade males between habitats to keep your gene pool wide instead of selling off animals when theres a population imbalence. Which saves you some money in franchise mode when you get the xxx animal is about to inbreed since you arent buying a whole new animal). Or you could make a swamp and each side of the path has different crocodilians. Again, giving the illusion of one big sectioned off habitat thats being walked through rather then individual habitats being walked next to. Its especially nice for those guests who complain that "the view of xxx was okay" or along similar lines.
Thank you so much! Do you have a tutorial on nature/habitat building? Only asking because I have been so inspired by you, but I can't crack your secret to the building. My habitats are, well, more like torcher chambers for the animals... :l I feel terrible... D:
I found that if you're playing on a laptop and using the mouse pad. That this little option doesn't work. I tried switching to a wireless mouse. Place a path at the place you want to smooth out and right click on the mouse to delete the path you just placed. It should work then.
Wow this is soo useful I m new to this game since 3 days ago because I got it for my birthday and it is such an amazing game I love the way you play it a,d you’re an inspiration for me ! Thanks 👍
The bane of my existence in this game are the red/blue/green circles that allow you to reposition and rotate certain architecture items. No idea how to do that
With an item highlighted you press "X' on the keyboard to activate this, its called advanced rotate. You click and drag the circles or arrows to move the thing and press "X" again to toggle between rotating in place or moving in the direction of the arrows. When you rotate the item, the arrows rotate as well. If this makes it hard to position an item you click the third icon which appears near the cursor. Its hard to make out, but its a circle with 3 lines coming out from the centre. This button resets the arrows so that they follow the standard X,Y,Z of the map. You can ignore the other icons if you want.
I don't know if you mentioned it in the video, if you did I missed it... But I've seen in your more recent videos do a single step up stair path to control the twists and turns a bit more in your stairs and ramps... is that a settings option or a keyboard key??
Thats a newer feature and was not in the game when I made this tutorial :) we talk about these short steps in my Top 10 building tips and tricks video :)
I'm spending most of my time on YT watching your videos, and my works in PZ are going better and better. One question: I have a big zoo now with 14 or 15 habitats and 4.5k visitors, but they don't go and visit the most distant ones from entrance. So I built a monorail circuit with 3 stations, but my animals are still ignored :( Can you give me some tips? I apologize but I'm a newbie in PZ, I've been playing it since last month Thank you so much
You could try adding billboards in the beginning of your zoo and have an advertisement point to the habitats in the back :) also vista points could help to attrack people to the other side of your zoo :) good luck!
You build a fence, you make sure it is connected. Then you place a keepers gate and make sure it's connected with a path so your keepers etc can reach it.. Does this answer your question?
I am sure this will help me a lot. I also have a question though: how do you make sure your guests can always see the animals, especially with larger habitats? For my wolves (I just started in sandbox to try stuff out and learn) I made path all around the habitat, with glass windows in the barrier, I made a small elevated path so guests can look over the fence in 1 area and I ALSO made a bridge that goes over the middle of the entire habitat (which was a pain to build, I noticed for some reason that even if you made the bridge high enough to get over the first barrier piece, it will still try to curve around inside the habitat instead of going over the second piece at the other end. I had to elevate the path on the other side first, then connect and it was still super wonky and annoying), but even with all that the guests complain a lot about not being able to see the wolves :(
I just found u and I'm gonna binge watch ur tutorials cuz building has been a struggle for me lol how do they get on the path cuz it looks a little far from the ground lol
Building a bridge over water is so so hard, I'm gonna try your tips and see if it stops to turn red and I can finally be able to conect the damn patch.
Is there some option I might be missing that causes "shift" to move up in large snaps? I was trying to build an elevated viewing area last night and my paths absolutely did not move up/down smoothly like in this video. It would go from ground level then snap up to like 4m high :(
Zoo Planet is absolutely beautiful when you’re not the one playing it….
Exactly my thoughts!

@Ares Lictor true. I've only started a day ago in Sandbox and controls like the paths and stuff are so freaking annoying
The developers could have made this a lot easier. Making large open court yards is not to hard with the grid system but then you can't place buildings on top of it. Building paths should be the easiest part of the game.

@@Red_Fives217 Yeah I put 8 hours into the game and I regret buying it now. Sadly can't refund my money.

I thought *I* was the bane your existence..
I play without a mouse (because my mouse didn’t arrive at the same time as my laptop)
I have to place paths and other things with a touch pad
Oh my god thank you for making this video! The path system was making me throw my whole computer out of the door.. !
same. 😹😹

I had to laugh when she said the path system is a little bit wonky. Only a slight understatement.
after 70 hours struggling with pathing, I finally knew how to make an effing circle!
This is THE BEST path tutorial! Especially for elevating paths, which is super hard in this game. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just started playing Planet Zoo, and the path system has been driving me insane, so many times I have rage quit just because of having trubble with placing paths
