"She's a Time Lady, I SWEAR!" (THUMP!) The Watcher: In another universe, Liam's house comes crushing down the ground, and his Christmas is ultimately ruined thanks to Doctor Who. 🤣
Loved the Christmas special and Ncuti! Can't wait for spring! I think the Doctor recognized Ruby's mother ( did you notice the underlying music, as he was watching her) and Mrs Flood is definitely somehow connected to the Doctor. Past companion; someone else. That wink after she mentions the Tardis is a clue.
Her mother could be the Doctor's "daughter" Jenny, last seen blasting off in a rocket. Other option could be Rose from the other dimension. If one of these theories is true, the Doctor is Ruby's father or grandfather. Even better both tie bac to David Tennant so they could have them meet in a special at some point.
To be honest, the woman's footwear was similar to the 13th Doctor boots and ankle length trousers. My opinion is that the 13th Doctor found Ruby as a baby and took her to the church, but never found out who her parents were or where she came from. Probably wrong, but the Doctor definitely knows more than he's letting on
So if Mrs Flood isn't a villain such as the Rani or Missy, then perhaps she's either an older Ruby or a Timelord, perhaps Susan (or a descendent), jenny or Romana....
She said she hadn't seen blue police box in 50 years. If we take that literally both in universe and out, that could tie her to 3rd late era or maybe 4th early era. I think Romana came after that but don't know any other suggestions aside from Master that may fit there, female Time Lord wise. Any ideas?
With Mel being back on the scene The Rani would make sense. My vague theory is that Ruby is one of her experiments which got taken from her, hence her having no family anywhere at all. Who knows though
Completely and totally charmed by Ncuti, and stoked by the mysteries presented in this episode. Wow did I have FUN. Hope the ball keeps rolling on that because, just wow.
12:00, 2 suspicions. Either the neighbour is the mother (carefully keeping her DNA off the grid), or it's Ruby, and we'll have us a Weeping Angel situation.
The Rani? I screamed the master!! The toymakers tooth had him in it? Sure that set this up, as that being the master. Playing an old lady like a master of disguise
Great reaction! A thought I had with the old lady is not that she is evil and not trusted, but that she is an elderly Ruby. I could be very wrong though. I can't wait to see what twists and surprises this series brings.
I 100% got reminded of the Crack in Amy's wall as soon as the crack in their ceiling started. Also, got Labyrinth vibes before baby Lulu was kidnapped. Her name is Mrs. Flood, she looks like the captain woman from The Waters Of Mars where the big bad is called The Flood... I'm not saying she is but coincidence?
Loved him, loved her. Good mystery surrounding her parentage and the old lady. Just not sure they did justice to the goblins and that story, but I loved everything else. Spring can't come fast enough
Those were all created by Stephen Moffat. Yes, it could come back. But I feel like that story wrapped up. I feel like this is going to be a future version of Ruby.
When writing series 5, Moffat specifically chose the name "Pond" because he already had the River twist in mind. At least that's what he's claimed. So that being a water name is _not_ a coincidence. As for whether Flood is related at all, I have no idea. But the show just seems to like names that are also words in general: Rose, Noble, Potts (albeit spelled with two Ts), Ruby Sunday.
@@chrisleneil yes however when they moved to London that’s when rubys “watcher” was put in place to wait for the doctor to arrive and report back to “the boss” ruby is the daughter of the main villain next year (jinx monsoon the drag queen) yet again Russel ruins the show.

Okay, what if Angie Watts didn’t die on EastEnders and is now living under a new name of Mrs Flood and what if this is a way of making Dimensions in Time Cannon!!! 😁😆😆
THANKS for this Christmas work!!! I feel a lot of 12/Clara energy here.... :) And I also don't know what to do with Mrs. Flood and that post-credit sequence, so your theory is interesting!
I’ll never not be sad that Peter Davison *didn’t* get to play him in the 50th Anniversary as one person somewhere speculated… I mean come on, it would’ve been an excellent alternate way to use him and bring an iconic villain back.
I have great hopes for Ruby - and my God am I the only one who caught Clara vibes here? In certain shots she even looked like Jenna. As for Mrs Flood, Sir Brian May should be proud. How about getting him to play a riff just for her?
You know from a viewer standpoint, we'd all go, FIND OUT WHO RUBY'S MOTHER WAS or WHOEVER THAT PERSON WAS WALKING AWAY FROM HER. But from the Doctor's standpoint (which a lot of us probably forget lololol, I did until now too), as much as he wants to know the answer... to know too much might cause repercussions in the universe. He isn't supposed to know the identity of the woman yet. Therefore, he won't find out. The Doctor is all about keeping the status quo as much as possible. You can change/alter minor things but nothing huge. Plus if he found out who the woman is, he'd be drawn to find out more about Ruby. And that information might have the potential to change the universe in unknown ways. If he leaves it be and doesn't find out, things might be better that way.
I was thinking Mrs Flood was a former companion or something. I didn’t get the impression she was an adversary. But I was expecting people to know in the commentaries. Since she’s still unknown I’m more curious. Maybe a former UNIT employee? Or even someone he met before. Unfortunately I haven’t seen much Classic Who since childhood and I’ve forgotten a lot. So I have no recollection of the Rani. I keep hearing the name though.
Women in hood could be Ruby Or Mrs Flood. I dont feel Mrs Flood is a villian, i could be proven wrong. But who knows. man May is going to take forever to get here. Timeless child does not break DR Who, i feel it expands on it. It was getting Stale & We needed a clean slate, new monsters. Timelords just needed to go or be reintroduced properly
I hated the mavity joke, BUT I’m glad they didn’t just act like it never happened. I love Ncuti as the Doctor and his voice isn’t half bad, though I wasn’t expecting the two of them to break into song. I assume Mrs Flood will make an exciting return as it’s unlikely the ending was merely a one off fourth wall break without any special meaning yet I find her change in attitude strange. Initially she accused her neighbor of doing something as crazy as placing a blue police box just to annoy her, which isn’t something I would expect anyone with knowledge of the Doctor to do as you’d think seeing a blue police box randomly pop up would trigger a memory, and then she was shocked when it first dematerialized. Of course she doesn’t necessarily know the Doctor or the form his TARDIS takes as all we know for sure is that she knows what a TARDIS is. It’s out there but there’s always a chance the “Mrs Flood” at the end isn’t the same person as she could have been replaced, possessed, etc.
Speaking of coincidences. Is it a coincidence that Ruby is a blonde who was born about a year before another blonde teenage girl met the Doctor and basically disappeared from existence along with her closest living relative and therefore wouldn’t have left much behind in the way of DNA?
You think she’s the daughter of Rose and the Metacrisis Doctor? Not impossible if so, although they’d need to explain how they got time travel (and why) even before the break in universes comes into play. As an interesting tidbit there, apparently RTD has said that early in Series 2 plotting they considered having “Tooth and Claw” be the source of said timeline: either they actually failed to save Queen Victoria, or there was a universe where that had happened; either way, “Pete’s World” was conceived with the idea that Queen V. died that night and the political situation of the time would see the UK become a republic, etc. But, I digress. ^.^’
I mean, if you run a River into a Pond enough you'll eventually Flood the surrounding area. So, if it isn't the Rani..there's someone else that can sail along and take the place
Exactly. And Millie as well playing Ruby she equally met that high bar of instant impact but the 2 together easily tons of chemistry and RTD has given us 1 heck of a strong new Doctor and companion. Good times ahead with them both.
