You aren't alone about The Goblin Song being catchy, it made number 4 on the Christmas charts over here in the UK! Also I initially watching this wasn't too sold on it and for some reason I just wasn't clicking with 15, but having rewatched it again now with you it has massively shot up, and I am now massively vibing with 15. Though I am still very curious about the 4th wall break and who exactly Mrs Flood is. Maybe we will finally have The Rani return in Modern Who! (this will never happen it feels like a running meme at this point)
It's a shame it didn't make onto the official charts tho, but still an impressive feat :)
Davina McCall is a real person. She played herself in the episode.

She also played the voice of the Big Brother house way back in Series 1 episode 12 of Doctor Who (Davina was the host of the actual UK Big Brother show in real life), so this is technically her 2nd appearance.
Also, Davina presents a show called Long Lost Family about tracing relatives/ parents of orphans and abandoned babies.

The horrified shudder you give when mentioning The Twin Dilemma is making me really look forward to that reaction 😂. I enjoyed this special a lot. We have, as you observed, a very charismatic Doctor, possibly the catchiest song about eating babies ever, and just the right amount of Christmas stuff. I like Ruby, as well, as long as she doesn't take her love to town.

My head cannon is that when we saw P. Troughton regenerating, his face all distorting, he was bi-generating into Pertwee, and also his continued face, which went on to continue in the 3 doctors, 5 doctors, and 2 doctors, ( and working for the time lords in a series 6B ), then when his time was up he became " The Watcher " and reunited with the Doctor

Gerald Flood was the voice of robot companion Kamelion in the original series, so obviously Mrs Flood is a re-built Kamelion taking the form of the next door neighbour to watch over Ruby growing up. Obviously.
I love how S14/S1 will have three soap actors: Millie Gibson (Ruby) from Coronation Street, Angela Wynter (Cherry) and Anita Dobson (Mrs Flood) from EastEnders.

I agree, I would still say that Rose is a good jumping on point for the series for new viewers, with An Unearthly Child for the classic era once they have caught up.
My personal recommendations for potential good mid-way jumping on points would be: Spearhead from Space; Robot; Castrovalva; The Eleventh Hour; or The Church on Ruby Road.
I would say they should start from Tom Baker that was my jumping on point.
I believe 14 stay but as someone said it is like a universe doctor and like all doctors before got to live out their lives in another universe

Ncuti is so far an amazing Doctor but I don't see any of the other Doctors in him at all I see it more coming into his own.

It was the BBC's decision to switch to the new year specials. RTD demanded them back.
Counterpoint: It was Chibnall who gave up the Christmas slot
Would not have thought Chibnall has the power to tell the BBC when to air the show.
@@booradley8895 Chibnall was not available in time for the Christmas special so Moffat made a Christmas special to try to save the slot for the series. Then for some reason they just stayed with the New Year's specials.

I prefer Deep Breath. More serious and mature in tone. This is a goofy, Cheesy, Silly Disneyfied version of Doctor Who. I’m not comfortable with the Doctor being all about good looks as he’s supposed to be a different type of hero and not your generic handsome heroic type. I hate seeing the Doctor become flirtatious like the awful 10th Doctor so I hope RTD doesn’t go there but I bet he will since he’s never fully understood the Doctor’s character. After the terrible Bi-Generation nonsense this is just average. If the Doctor can’t lose his body and modern Who companions never seem to die or if they do get resurrected then there’s no jeopardy anymore or consequences. Id give this 5/10. Nice reaction.
Why start with Eccleston? Dr Who had been running for decades at that point.
Also, I'm 100% willing to defend Chibnall on the Christmas episodes. Chibnall took a massive chance addressing ALL of the big complaints from the fanbase when he took over. The big complaints about Moffat were that the episodes were too interconnected, too dependent on core monsters, and too cerebral. They complained about Christmas specials having become boring and silly. They complained about the pacing of episodes and split seasons and which night it aired. Chibnall took ALL of those complaints and addressed them with series 11. And the same fans who had bitched before.... Still bitched.
It's no longer Season 14 it's been rebranded back to Season 1 Classic Who (1963-1989) New Who (2005-2022) and Disney Who (2023-).
Ncuti Gatwa is the first actor to be born post Classic era of the Doctor and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) only 1 years old when NuWho came back in 2005 this is definately a show aimed for the z generation.
I'm a great supporter of the Jodie Whittaker era and I'm glad Chris Chibnall took risks as a showrunner I will say he made the old villains awesome again such as The Master, The Sontarans, The Cybermen and The Daleks and Swarm and Azure from "Flux" where interesting villains as well but the stories weren't well written I didn't like The Timeless Child that didn't need to happen really it's called "Dr. Who" for a reason and it takes the mystery away from the character now granted I'm not saying RTD should erase his friend Chibnall's work but he should had just ignored it and not brought it up like he did with the half human thing from the 1996 television movie as far as I'm concerned The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey travelling in a box that's it that's all we need to know i do think RTD is keeping this just to piss off the conservatives of the fandom as it was very toxic during the Jodie Whittaker era but I don't want to know about The Doctor's background etc etc I just want them to get on with the story.
Just on the Doctor's family we don't know if he actually did have a family or not that's never been confirmed or denied we don't know if he had a wife or kids Susan could be his adopted grandchild for all we know then again she could be his real grandchild, all we know is he has a granddaughter and that he's been a father before.
It's never been confirmed if 14 does down the line regenerate into 15 it's just a fan theory some say he ends up being the curator which also would make alot of sense but RTD has never confirmed this.
I'm also surprised that it's crossed your mind about how Mrs. Flood knows what a TARDIS is how does she know the name? My theory is she's a Time Lord.
I disagree with you about the Beep the Meep and the Adipose not being cute but I do agree about the goblins not being so cute so much although I thought Janis Goblin the lead singing Goblin was cute weirdly, I never thought in a million years we would see The Doctor and his companion go all musical the goblins were also real people in costumes even though it looked CGI the Goblin King was practical effects.
Davina McCall is also a real person playing herself she is huge in the UK the show she's doing with Ruby about her real parents is a show she does in real life.
It's not called Disney Who it's called Bad Wolf Who as Bad Wolf owns the show creatively all Disney can do is fund it and give notes
