How To Change The Reverse Light Switch On A Ford Transit Connect

How to change the reverse light switch on a Ford Transit Connect / Ford Focus.
If the fuse is ok and you’ve double checked the reverse lights with a fresh bulb, the next thing to replace is the reverse light switch mounted on the top of the gearbox. I’ve used a mk1 Transit Connect here but it’s the same procedure on the mk1 Focus as they share many components.

Hi mate. Ive changed switch in mine but the lights will only stay on if keep a firm hold to the gear stick in reverse position. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi - not sure. Did it have a tendency to do that before the switch completely failed? Only things I can think of are perhaps slack in the gear change cables or other wear. Or maybe switch not tight enough in the box? Let me know if you find out 👍

My 07 plate doesnt have beepers? I will try this coz ive changed fuse and bulbs and still no joy.

Hi if the beepers and reverse lights have stopped working at the same time it’s probably a fuse or this switch. Hope you got it sorted 👍
