Listening to you share your overcome experience gave me the glim of hope I needed to hear. i am glad that there is people like you out there who just want to help other people who are struggling with the same issues. I originally started with lower back pain then to LBP and a throbbing right testicle which would be so bad I didn't want to do anything. Now at 45 and still with LBP not so much of a throbbing but now E.D. and back Dr wanting to do surgery...😠😒 This has plagued me for years and I fought thru it with minimal pills to end up floppy!😶😤😖😭

      I have a question? I was feeling back pain and then when i woke up one morning to "enjoy myself" i realized i could not get an erection.Also, while urinating, my jimmy seems lazy. What causes the nerve near the lower spine/back to be pinched? Bad posture?

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  7 лет назад +1

      Dear SCN, Hopefully this was just a one-time event, and everything goes back to normal. It is perfectly normal for e.d. to occur on occasion. What is NOT normal is for you NEVER to get an erection or always to have painful urination. One event of this type of thing, doesn't mean much.
      Also, don't WORRY about this, because then you will cause yourself psychologically to not have erections. Relax. Be happy to be healthy.

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  10 лет назад +2

      Dear Mr. Knight...
      The short answer is no, its not quick. You are not going to get a "pop" like you get with a drug. Drugs give you instant, but artificial results.
      Having said that, every case is different, but TYPICALLY, I have found the following: it usually takes about 6-8 weeks at that frequency to see good results with erectile dysfunction. Usually, symptoms from spinal nerves (like back pain) resolve first (2-4 weeks). Usually, symptoms from peripheral nerves (like erectile dysfunction) calming down a bit later.
      The general rule is: the farther away from the spine the symptom is, the longer it takes the nerve to calm, and return to normal functioning.
      Thanks for your comment!

    I am 23 year old male form Poland. I am suffering from erictle dysfunction, my erect lenght and girth has decreased. I have been experiencing some lower back pain earlier, but the problem happened after deadlift injury (with the weight below 50 kg, I wanted to learn the proper technique). I have done an MRI scan of my Lumbo-sacral spine and the results says that I have: Dehydration and reduction of the Th11-Th12 intervertebral disc with compression of the spinal cord. Lumbo-sacral section without features of discopathy. The spinal cord in the visible section with the spinal cone and the equine tail without signal changes.
    Can Th11-Th12 disc be the cause of my problems? Which doctors would You recommend me to see? I don’t know what tests should I do. Also, could You take a look at my MRI scan if I'd contact You via mail? I will be very thankful for your advices and help.

      There are many tests to determine nerve impairment. NCV/EMG is one test, but the first step and most important is the physical examination. Specialty is important but so is experience with your condition. Neurologists, Chiropractors, Physiatrists, and even some primary care physicians are good, but I would ask about their experience levels.

    Forget why but I did a hip exercise routine I found online for people whod had a hip replacement with ankle weights. Did during a break from my partner and when we met again wow. Relaxing break heaps of rest and good food. I stopped the hip exercises and things back to normal. I a labourer pretty fit and strong and I haven't had morning wood regularly since high school. I have floppy joints and was a slow runner but which swimmer. Late 20s had si joint pain and i think that's what this nerve is inline with. Another reason to sort that out. My inner thigh muscles pretty weak though, maybe strengthen the area and see what happens. Is there hormonal issues if dont have decent erections or is it just psychological? Body fats low, great areobic ability, Im in the gym lifting weights regularly, and i eat pretty well. Could be psychological as home life and school life pretty stressful. Lots of depression through 20s 30s. Be cool if strengthened hip, got an adjustment and cured baulk of issues

    Hi, I'm in the UK and have suffered with lower back and ED for a while, I have been to osteopath in the past and wondered if this is the same as a chiropractor. How do I find out more information or get the treatment you've spoken about? Thanks.

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  8 лет назад +1

      No. It's not the same thing. (Although some Osteopaths do utilize spinal manipulation). In the UK, they do have chiropractors, but not as many. Then, also you have what you call "physiotherapists". In the US, a Chiropractor is sort of a hybrid of a primary care physician, physiotherapist, and spine specialist.
      But, I think your question is more---Can a Chiropractor help you, and the answer is Probably, Most likely yes.
      Again, without an examination, xrays, MRIs, NCVs, etc, I cannot tell you much about your specific case, and that's why you need to see someone for a consultation.

      Yes. I would go back to either: that doctor OR another doctor (chiropractor/neurologist/pain management specialist) and have an examination done and if that examination indicates: a new lumbar MRI and/or NCV/EMG to determine if neural damage occurred.

      Matt, don't lose hope man, i'm facing exactly the same symptoms as you for the past 2 years. i'm treating with exercises to decompress the lumbar discs and achieving some results slowly. Just like you i still dont have morning erections, but in the moment of sex my penis is working just fine already. if nothing works and you end up chosing for a cirurgical way, opts for a percutaneous disc decompression, for its low risks and no colateral effects, but only if you dont have a disc extrusion. its important too, to dyscover if there is no muscular origin to you lumbar compression, such as a tight psoas muscle for example. If that is the case works toward the release of that muscle too.

    I have lower back pain and burning in the penis/impotence. I have had an mri and supposedly on it, no disc material is touching the nerves. I have tried chiropractic care and it made the numbness worse in the short run. They did the standard "rolling" manuvear with one leg kept straight and the other leg swung over the side with the the "popping" or "clicking" sound coming afterward. Im sure there is a better way to describe that. Anyway, can you describe the way you adjust the lower vertebrae? Can bad disks constantly pour disk chemicals on the nerves?

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  8 лет назад +1

      Dear Hollypikemanz,
      I have a couple of questions about your description. First, you state "supposedly...no dic material is touching the nerves". Did you see the MRI personally, or were you referring to a comment by a healthcare provider? And did that provider read the MRI, or did they simply read the report from the radiologist?
      Second, you state the you "...tried chiropractic care and it made the numbness worse in the short run." However, above that, you stated that your complaints were "low back pain and burning in the penis/impotence". You made no mention of numbness. When did you begin treatment with a chiropractor? Was it for THIS condition, in which you had the MRI ordered for, or something else? Also, how many adjustments have you received since you began treatment? And, are you only doing adjustments, or are you doing rehab as well? How has the lower back pain and burning you describe responding to treatment?
      Have you received any other types of treatment?

    • @Holypikemanz
      @Holypikemanz 8 лет назад +1

      +Dr. Steve Lininger the doctors i have seen all looked at the several recent lumbar mris, for this condition, and said there was no disk material pressing the nerves. I had slight bulges before and had several discetomies (L4-L5, L5-S1) with no improvement in symptoms. My symptoms alternate between burning and numbness in the penis and lower parts of the pelvis/butt. I had about 20 treatments for this pain with a chiropractor but had to stop since it made my symptoms worse, when they did the lower back adjustments. Physical therapy did not improve my symptoms either. The only thing that has helped has been epidural injections and the improvement only lasts a day afterward and was not complete improvement while they lasted. I have had facet injections, prolotherapy, and nerve root blocks with no improvement. Discogram showed level 4 tears at L4-L5 and L5-S1, so I am considering a biacuplasty. I have to get in certain positions, arching my back and opening my hips to relieve the pain/numbness in my groin enough to have an orgasm. I even had the pudendal nerve release surgery with no improvement. Surgeon did not find much to indicate that the nerve was damaged.

      Dear Mr. Hollypikemanz,
      It seems as if you have been dealing with this for quite some time now. I am sorry you have not had much success with the various treatments you have tried, including surgeries.
      In a case this complex, the first step that I take with a patient is to review all the diagnostic tests. In this case, a recent Lumbar MRI would be very crucial to evaluate. If there are recent NCV/EMG tests of the lower extremities available, they would also be very useful.
      It never hurts to have another set of eyes review the tests.

      You are very welcome.
      As far as treatment is concerned, it all depends upon what the findings are on the MRI. With many of the patients we treat, often times, we are very successful in helping patients without delivering adjustments at all.
      But it all begins with having the correct diagnosis, which in my experience, many times the patients have been given the incorrect diagnosis.

    Dr. Lininger, I have scoliosis on the left side with accompanying back pain. I've had ED for awhile now. I'm on 2 BP meds, Atenolol 50 mg & Buspirone 5 mg each twice per day. I've had an after-drip when urinating but it's gotten better w/some prostate supplements. I'm wondering if sitting too much during the pandemic has caused a perineum issue? It doesn't hurt, and has had no injury as such. I also take Alprozalam 0.5 and Lorazepam 1mg once a day for anxiety. I haven't been ejaculating very often lately. When I did about 1 week ago it had a brownish color that scared me. I can get somewhat of an erection I "work" at it. But no morning wood anymore in several months. It seems to me that this explanation is not quite accurate. Lower back pain is caused by problems in lumbar area, but nerves that feed the penis exit at the sacral region. As I understand nerves that feed the penis exit at S2 to S4 levels and since this sacral region of the spine is fixed nerves are usually not pinched at this place. So the source of the erection problem is usually at lumbar region, but here is not the problem pinched nerve root that exit at one of this lumbar levels, but nerves bundle that goes further down to sacral part of the spine, so called cauda equina. For example, hernia of L5 disc put pressing to cauda equina nerve bundles. Please clarify.
    I have got disc hernia on left side at l5/S1 but unfortunately despite the fact that hernia was not central but on left side and ischiatic pain has gone for the most part now after half a year and hernia become even smaller, some symptoms of cauda equina syndrome appeared, erectile dysfunction, some numbness on opposite - right foot, little less sensitive inner side of right tight and anal tone seems to be weaker - I noticed farts go to easily. I hope the erectile dysfunction is at least to some extent the consequence of stress and problem with sleep. I would appreciate any comment.

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  8 лет назад

      +Alen Batagelj Dear Mr. Batagelj; The explanation IS ABSOLUTELY correct and accurate. Cord compression is not likely below the L2 level, as the spinal cord dessicates at that level, and forms the caudia equina. However, it is common that spinal nerve roots between L2 and S1 become compressed. And some of the pathophysiology is still unclear to modern science, but we do know that the most frequent disorders caused by Lumbar/Sacral segment discopathies are erection disorders in men and orgasm disorders in women.
      Heres a little neuroanatomy: The Superior hypogastric plexus lies anterior to the L5 vertebrae. It receives input from the sympathetic preganglionic nerve fibers, which are located in the intermediolateral cell columns of the lower spinal cord. These preganglionic fibers first leave the spinal cord via the ROOTS of the SPINAL NERVES, exiting the SPINAL NERVES via the white rami communicantes into the lumbosacral sympathetic chain.
      Therefore, when you said the penis is innervated by nerves from S2 to S4, that is correct. But what is also correct is that there are spinal nerves exiting at the L5/S1 levels that directly feed the plexus which controls the penis as well, and when there is irritation and inflammation there, erectile dysfunction can be one of the symptoms.
      I can tell you as well, from clinical experience, that not all of the patients that experience erectile dysfunction, display a herniated disc. Patients can and do have pinched nerves at the lower lumbar region, and can and do experience, as a direct result, erectile dysfunction and lower back pain, among other various symptoms.
      I can also tell you, that when they follow my instructions and treatment, most of them see improvement and in many cases, complete resolution of their symptoms.
      You, it sounds like, may be experiencing caudia equina syndrome, which is something that I typically refer out to the Neurosurgeon. Once the symptoms of caudia equina syndrome are occurring, it is typically too late for my intervention, as this can be a surgical case, and in some cases, an emergency surgical situation.
      I suggest, that if you haven't already, you seek out a local Neurosurgeon for consult. Be certain to bring your MRI.
      I hope that this helps.
      P.S. You can have encroachment of the neural canal within the sacrum, which can cause a pinched nerve in the sacral nerves.

    • @alenbatagelj8035
      @alenbatagelj8035 8 лет назад

      Thank you for your answer. The problem is that the MRI shows only small disc herniation on the left side which is smaller than at the beginning about 7 months ago when I had significant sciatica symptoms. I have been at the spine surgeon in the orthopaedic who said that these symptoms are very unlikely cauda equina syndrome. If I showed him my latest MRI he would be even more convinced. I very much doubt his understanding.
      I have read that not only disc protrusion but also dense adhesions within the theca can produce the cauda equina syndrome by strangling the nerve roots inside theca. But this thickening would also be seen in the MRI image would it not?
      I started to think that this might be anxiety and emotional problem that translates into some back pain and numbness problem as dr. John Serno has been explaining. The erection problem might than be the consequence of anxiety and sleeplessness. But now I doubt it because few hours after longer walk the symptoms get worse as if walking causes some additional compression of the nerves. A prolonged walk increases my back pain on the left side significantly few hours later - I than feel like I am pinched there -, pain can otherwise be quite unnoticeable. The pain in the left also feels to be directly linked with numbness in the soles of both feet which increases after prolonged walking, despite the fact that it increases blood flow.
      My MRI axial imeges ends on the bottom at the half of the S1 level and radiologist found nothing problematic. On the lower level side views are available. What can be the cause of the cauda equina syndrome in the sacral region, since there can be no disc herniationo? Can the pressure of the nerve roots at L5-S1 level cause major erectile dysfunction or just mild one? I imagine that there is probably not possible that compression on nerve roots on left side on this level causes numbness on the right feet, which could be good news for me. Is that so?
      I would appreciate any comment.

    • @timeshare02
      @timeshare02  7 лет назад

      First, I do not go off of what the radiologist report says. I read all my own MRI's.
      Second, there absolutely are psychological components to SOME, but not all, pain syndromes. ED CAN have a psychological component, a metabolic component, and a neurological component. So can PAIN. Sometimes, the patient may have several components, simultaneously. If that is the case, then all present components must be treated to achieve the desired results.
      You can damage nerves and the caudia equina, in several ways, other than disc herniation. Disc herniation typically is the culprit for cord compression, but as I stated before, there is no spinal cord below L2, as it dessicates to form the cuadia equina. There CAN be a herniation at L5/S1, however.
      And lastly, compression on nerve roots at the L5/S1 level DIRECTLY correlates to numbness in the feet, in the absence of other causes, such as diabetes, circulatory, or metabolic etiology.
      Merry Christmas, sorry I took so long to respond (very busy treating patients).

      +Josip Katalinić
      There are a TON of exercises one can do for lower back pain.
      The key is knowing WHICH ones are best for YOU.
      Lordosis means "Curve". Both the Cervical and Lumbar spine regions normally are "Curved".
      It is possible to loose curvature in either the cervical (neck) region or the lumbar (lower back) region.
      Therefore, a radiology report might commonly read: "Loss of lordosis" in either region.
      These losses of curves are associated with a myriad of symptoms.
      You can search for Alf Brieg, a Neurosurgeon who Pioneered most of the early-on research into losses in cervical curves, and how the increased tension on the cord caused many health issues.

    Hello Dr. Lininger. Im from germany and I hope you can give me some advice about my situation. 1 year ago i did deadlifts and my back made a crack. That caused disc protusion in L4/L5. Since then I have ED, low libido and what is even more horrible than that i have almost no sexual feelings in my penis especially the skin. I mean when i have sex or my Penis is being touched it doesn't feel good anymore it feels like i would wear like 10 condoms at once. The doctors told me that my problems cant be caused by the disc protrusion but it all started with it and i never had any problems like that before. Im 30 years old.
    Please help. What is your opinion? What can I do? What possibilities are there?
    Greetings from Germany

      First you need an evaluation by a specialist. Chiropractor, Nuerologist, or pain management specialist
