I weigh 11 lbs over the weight limit. I ordered this today and I’m going to use Super natural to get down to 286… hoping i get there in time for when it arrives and i really hope this helps Me be more active
VR has helped me lose a lot of weight too, Skitz! I haven't tried Supernatural yet, but using Beast Sage to make my own songs and downloading custom ones from fans helped me stay motivated for upper body workouts. I wish you well on hitting your next weight loss goal, so you can use the C2 to keep losing!
My thoughts on how to use this during a first person shooter (and any game where I'm not using the kat walk to move): Still use the joystick for movement, but stay hooked into the kat walk in order to stay in place in my physical room, thus avoiding the very real issue of running up against the virtual barrier, which has gotten me killed plenty of times in contractors.
Yeah if I want to play my most competitively/my best I wouldn't use the C2. I just like it for the immersiveness and workout in shooters. Also (advanced maneuver/at your own risk) I don't use a guardian/virtual walls even without the C2 and play with a mat in socks or barefoot so I can feel when I'm stepping out of my play space.
@@EndersVRcade Yeah I've considered doing that before, too. I'll try both. I'll just have to decide if I want to wait until Black Friday to grab a few hundred off or if I want to buy it now. How much of a discount did the C2+ get last BF?
Sorry Vic I just saw this now. The Black Friday sale didn't give a flat discount on the C2. If I remember right it was a bonus item like a Nexus or extra pair of shoes.
Thank you for this awesome review. :) I did buy mine on black friday and had a lot of issue with shipping and the client support. So I appreciate genuine reviews and happy to see I am not the only one having issue with the seat. I am 5'3 so yeah... Definetly in the way. Honestly, I do regret buying my device so far :( but let's home time will change my opinion about it. Thank you for the video and look forward to more content :)
Hello Aucus, I'm glad to hear that you appreciated the review! It's funny that you mentioned the seat. Soon after I removed my seat, my pulley system (keeps the weight of the waist belt off you and allows it to float) broke. The pulley system break seems to happen a bit on the KatVR Discord. KatVR is sending me a replacement but until it arrives, I put the seat back on so when I get off the C2, the seat "cushions" the waist belt from hitting the bottom of its travel too hard.
You might get a laugh out my Grimlord video because I overcompensated the other way, and I look like David fighting Goliath in one section. I think it’s near the middle or end of the video, and I’m on a bridge.
@@EndersVRcade Did you manually edit yourself in? I was wondering how you achieved the external camera and all that. I assume that isn't a stock function of the games you play.
Yes I use free software called LIV that essentially creates a third person in game camera that follows your movement by tracking your VR controllers and moves the camera accordingly (and maybe the headset too but not sure). It only works with their list of supported games (the game developer has to implement it on their end) unfortunately or I would use it for all my videos.
I just got the kat walk c2+ to play skyrim vr and it is physically demanding and very fun but i trugle walking sidewalks and backwards a lot. Hopefully i will be able to improve my footwork, but so far i feel way easyer using the stick instead of the treadmill.
Backwards and sideways is harder. At least is easier than (I hear) on C1. At least now you can go to the Gateway and set controllers for movement priority (so you can quickly move sideways with the sticks)
Thanks Grimm, I 'm going to try some new camera settings and video editing techniques in a video this week. I also have new lighting and a higher quality camera arriving later this week for next week's videos. Requests and feedback are greatly appreciated!
I would be happy to Jacob. If there are certain aspects you want me to address, be sure to let me know. As for me in general, I get bored with gym cardio machines, and work out much longer with the C2- especially with games with big environments. For VR Chat, Into the Radius, and others I need to try with the C2 still like Fallout and Skyrim, I will walk for up to two and a half hours versus just 30 minutes on an elliptical. For higher intensity games (Dragon Fist VR Kung Fu being the most demanding with Blade & Sorcery in second so far), I will work out less time but burn a lot more calories and be drenched in sweat. With the C2 you are using your legs obviously as well as your core to lean into the belt and your arms for game play. With typical VR, it's mainly just your arms, so you aren't getting a full body workout. There is also a step tracker with the C2 software now.
I have the original Katwalk C and my go-to games are the Serious Sam games. Those are SO FUN and such high intensity. You will absolutely get you sweating. These are the most high intensity shooters I have and with my headset (I have the Varjo Aero) , it looks really good. You constantly sprint around the battlefield during each fight. The decoupled movement works great so you run in one direction and shoot to the side. I have been sweating and breathing heavy after playing those games more than anything else I have.
This video was a big help. Considering buying one for myself, but the space I had in mind is like 2x2 meters hope that is enough. I will be turning with my arms stretched later today to check :D
You should be good with 2x2 meters. I am good with 2x3 meters, and I only use the extra meter for camera perspective and kicks with full body trackers. I am 1.7 meters tall.
@10:30 thats kind of strange .... i got my c2 core new and i never tried it before and i tried it with the default layout the shoes come with and its far to much friction ... i removed EVERY thing from the shoes to VR expert ...and i think its much better !!!! i added also some sliding "mouse" stickers and a big teflon sticker on the fixed roller in the back to get more sliding cabability ..and so i think its way more comfortable!!! -why they designed the rollers with a fixed one ....???
@@hanswurst3811 I did not understand why they did a non-spinning wheel at first either, but it actually makes sense when someone explained to me. Because the dish is curved if you had moving wheels for both wheels, your feet would angle outwards all the time. This was from someone who 3-D printed a second wheel and tried it I think.
@@EndersVRcade oh, yes of course that makes sense, anyway i added some teflon tape to the fixed one and for me it feels much better. and also the velcro is just scrubbed flat after one use :)
There are some games that use arm swing motion for walking and I think it's more of a 1to1 motion instead of a thumbstick movement. I wonder if they could implement something like that tech into the foot laser tracking.
Kind of. I mean the Vive foot trackers are tracked using laser base stations, so I could see that in a newer version of a cat walk down the road and some use an app called natural locomotion, which is free that tracks your arm swings, and I think can even map your arm swings to activate a jump feature so you don’t have to press a button with the Kat. It’s on my list of things to try.
Yes, swing arm motion is the best for the Katvr I've found. Blade and Sorcery for example, when you run on the Kat, you run in game because you're naturally swinging your arms. It's awesome. I wish all games had an arm swing option.
Did you have any issues with walking diagonally after recalibrating? It was pretty bad on my end. Walking forward would always start moving me diagonally after a few minutes. I went through support and after quite a few sessions and pictures sent etc, they are sending me new sensors. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this?
Yeah, it happens to me sometimes too but only randomly. I just hit the recalibrate button (sometimes two or three times per incident) and I’m usually good to go.
After watching this video, I am even more confident in my purchase od the C2+. I'm mainly gonna use it for exploration and fps games since that's the only type I have in my library. I think it will be great in a game like Pavlov and H3VR an even boneworks
Thanks HawianDude, and I'm glad you found my review helpful! It works super well with Pavlov (I have a video on my channel with the C2 if you haven't seen it). My favorite exploration experiences so far are VR Chat (Free) and Into the Radius which I also have videos of. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer.
whats the game being played at 29:00? also amazing video! ive been thinking about buying a C2+ for a while and havent decided whether to sink in the money
Hello Kalexs! That game is called Until You Fall (not to be confused with After the Fall) and I have a gameplay video of it here. ruclips.net/video/KKydhOqmfUw/видео.html Let me know if you have any questions about a C2+ that I can answer and the KatWalk Discord is a great resource for talking to other C2 owners too!
@@ItsPBUH you could wear them on the treadmill but you would still have to “walk in place lifting your feet off the treadmill surface,” so I don’t know why that would be better. I might be worse if anything because the treadmill surface is super slick (standard maintenance involves lubricating the surface with silicone oil so the special included shoes slide), so you would have to strap in for safety too.
The tracking sensors for the treadmill are in the underside of the shoes and work like a mouse’s tracking by the way vs loco S style movement tracking of feet up and down.
@@EndersVRcade thanks for the reply! Couldn't you use the treadmill for the walking stuff, but have the loco s track your legs location in space? Is there no way to turn off walking with the Loco S so it just tracks?
Hi RainMak3r, I'm glad you found it neat! I just created a video about how I put myself into games (Mixed Reality) that I will link here. That videos cover how I put myself in the corner. Some games support extra software called LIV that actually put me in the middle of the screen and have the game camera actively follow me, which I don't go into in that video, but I link to other LIV tutorials in that vid's description. ruclips.net/video/bvOR3OukkmA/видео.html
I have Kat Loco S. I keep wondering if I can use the Loco in conjunction with the Kat Walk C, and skip the shoes? I don't know why that would not work????? That way at least other people w/ other size shoes can use it.
Hello Charlie, this might be a little beyond my level of technological understanding, but I am fairly confident that you cannot do what you are proposing. I think the Loco S uses Inertia Movement Units (or IMUs which generally use accelerometers, gyroscopes, and sometimes magnetometers) where as the C2 uses (essentially) the little red lasers you see on the underside of a mouse to visually track movement over the C2 surface, so they are not compatible at all. I think the C1 might use the same underlying technology as the Loco S (IMUs) but the sensors are different in shape and presumably how they are tracked. Also, I think the Loco S tracks the frequency of your ankle sensors moving up and down but the C2 surface is curved and to slide your feet over it which would might not trigger a “step” in the Loco S algorithm.
@@EndersVRcade Your feet are still moving. Whether you are sitting in a chair moving your feet, or strapped to this, your feet are still moving in relation to the sensor on your waist. Loco uses forward movement as well.
It might work, and I stress I am not an expert on how this technology works. My err on the side of caution nature and not wanting to give someone expectations that it would work and they buy an expensive C2 and are upset with me leads me in the direction of expressing doubt. However, I would be happy to be proven wrong because... well keep an eye out for my next video because your hypothesis might be something I can test now :).
@@EndersVRcade Totally. Thanks! IF it works, I am sure you would have to set it up w/ the loco S software as if the Katwalk isn't there. I use a spinning office chair right now and just "walk" that way but I would really like to stand up. And that way I could use socks or something that doesn't scratch.
Speaking of the bottom cover, what I would do cause I noticed I couldn't thread I didn't use the washers and I would thread through the bottom first to make sure the threads didn't have paint thru it to make it hard to catch then I would go over the top and crank them down and bend then a little with the in box screw then remove the screw and attach to the slide mill. Wouldn't crank down to much just enough I'd just start to see it bend and it would slide on just fine once I attached them. Made it so much easier and they all attached just fine after this. I'm 300 pounds I haven't had any issues yet but I'm not going to try jumping tell I get below 285 again lol
Yeah lots of others on the Kat VR Discord have shared different ways to solve the "bolts too short" issue. Mine probably was a result of impatience as opposed to buying substitute ones or other examples. I am glad to hear yours is holding up well, too!
Great video! Also I agree that Into the Radius would be great with this! I probably won't be buying a VR treadmill anytime soon but maybe by the 4th or 5th iteration I'll get one.
@@EndersVRcade Thanks for this video as I'm purchasing one for black Friday. I was wondering if you use a fitness tracker Why are you playing and have you noticed any weight loss since you've had the kat walk
Thanks for this great review. I did put C2 PLUS a 1000 times into the shopping cart but always hesitated to push the final checkout button. Shipping got a bit cheaper bis is till 370 US$ to GER. Also, i record my content with the Index microphone which is very sensitive. I wonder if the index picks up the feet movement sound of the C2 Plus. So, even tho I would describe myself as an enthusiast, I´m still hesitating.
I’m glad to hear you appreciated the review MR Traveler. I have more gameplay footage/reviews with the C2+ on my channel if that helps make your decision. With the Velcro on the shoes modification I made, online players say they can hear my shoes moving a little if they are listening carefully and I’m not talking with my Quest 2 and Reverb G2 but my understanding is the Index has the best HMD microphone on the market, so they could be more of an issue for you. I just set my HMD mic to “push to talk” if I’m worried about giving away my position in competitive games (when possible) or off. If you’re not an enthusiast, I can’t say this is a must buy. I’d recommend trying (although I haven’t bought myself, I almost did) the Kat Walk Loco S for a less than a tenth the price of a C2. That way you can try out the walking feature, granted only in place, at a relatively low risk to see if you would utilize it enough to buy the C2. Also having the same headphones as the index on my G2, I can tell you you will be able to hear your own footsteps with the C2. Although once I have sound effects or music going, I don’t notice the noise anymore.
What game are you playing that is green and you’re dual wielding swords and fighting creatures that look like zombies with light shining out? >> I just did some searching and believe it’s “Until You Fall”
Mr. Ender do you have a patreon or something I can donate money to? I have a blade and sorcery request. I know you showed it in this video but there's more specific things I want to see
Wow thanks for being the first to offer to be a Patreon; this is a new milestone for me! I haven't set up a Patreon (as a creator) as I have only been making videos for about a month now and was thinking about doing so if/when my channel gets larger. For now, go ahead a let me know what specific things you would like me to demonstrate, and I will see how much work it would be to do (or even if I can do those things). You can let me know here or, email me at endersvrcade@gmail.com, or message me on Discord @ Ender'sVRcade #1399, and we can discuss things in greater detail. Thanks for watching!
While I don’t get motion sickness, I’ve had a few friends over new to VR and they said they didn’t experience motion sickness with the C2. They did experience some motion sickness without it.
At first I wasn't sure it was significant because I had great "VR Legs," but now that I have had longer gaps between play VR play sessions due to being busy, I notice I get motion sickness for long VR gaming sessions if I don't play a game with the C2.
@@EndersVRcade All of them that support it. If you go to the games section in the Katvr software, there's an option for each game for sprinting (push to walk, push button and stick, etc). I use it in Skyrim and it works pretty good.
@@justaguydoinstuff Some games like Half Life Alyx do not allow you to sprint at all. For example, Alyx only has one speed. You can set that speed to be faster (with a community mod Always Sprinting) but it is a fixed speed no matter how fast you walk on the C2.
@@EndersVRcade Yes that's true. The game has to support a controller type sprinting mode in order for it to work as it emulates sprinting based on the controller input. It's a really nice feature for open world games that have that option.
Great review! Do I have to have my computer involved every time I use this with my Quest 3 (plus a Nexus) or once it is set up do I only need the KAT VR and my Quest?
Thanks. For the vast majority of games, you will need to be using a PC and if you want to use without a PC, you will need to buy a the Nexus accessory but it only works with the few games Kat lists supported for that device. I have a review of the Kat Nexus too. However, my Nexus review is fairly out of date now that Kat changed a lot of how it works.
No Nexus absolutely does not just work with every game. It only works with the games they list as supported specifically for quest standalone. Furthermore updates to the games or Meta OS can break compatibility without notice. The Nexus is a nice thing to have in addition to PCVR play with the C2/Core but I do not recommend buying a treadmill just for standalone play with the Nexus.
Thanks for this video as I'm purchasing one for black Friday. I was wondering if you use a fitness tracker Why are you playing and have you noticed any weight loss since you've had the kat walk
Hi Lee. After a month I lost about 4 pounds of using the C2 every other day for about an hour to an hour and a half. I use an Apple Watch and track calories burned that way although the watch doesn't entirely understand some workouts. For example, if I select Elliptical and stop walking to snipe or manage my inventory in game, I keep getting a vibration from the watch asking if I'm finished my work out even after dismissing the prompt. "Open workout" on the watch solves that issue, but it's probably less accurate at measuring calories burned. Fortunately the Kat's Gateway software does have a calorie burned/steps walked (in kilometers just an FYI for Americans). I forgot to mention the Gateway fitness app because this is my longest video yet, and it came as a more recent update. But the Gateway info doesn't go to the watch exercise app. I did start to use the Pulsoid Watch app to overlay my heartrate in the Blade and Sorcery video, and I think, the Pavlov one. If you look up Pulsoid, they list other devices that work with their free software.
@@Lee.Davis_onesandzerosCongrats, and let me know if you have any questions I can help with when it arrives! I don't always see RUclips comments right away, but I'm on Discord (way too) much lol (same name as my channel). Oh, and part of my weight loss has been dieting, just a disclosure I guess.
Do you have any opinion on the Kat Loco S? I don't think I really have enough room for the Katwalk because I got addicted to the VR app Holofit and bought a bike, elliptical and rowing machine for my VR room, lol. Anyway... I have the Cybershoes but have barely used them. I thought maybe the Loco S would be a better version of that. Obviously not as cool as the Katwalk but maybe decent... There's nothing like moving your body in VR. Even using exercise machines in VR is pretty addictive.
Sorry if there is an obvious answer to this question, but do the shoes also double as a foot tracker and the torso strap for torso tracking (for full body tracking for example)? I tried looking at their website, but wasn't able to find any information on it. I would guess that there won't be any, so I've already bought some vive trackers ahead of time just in case.
That’s a great question. I was wondering that myself before I got mine. So short answer is that no the shoes don’t double as foot trackers, and the waist belt tracks direction only. If you look up my Dragon Fist or Blade & Sorcery/Lightsaber video, you can see( or maybe you already saw) that I do have vive foot trackers on for those games. Think of the shoe trackers as a mouse on your desktop. It moves forward/backward/Y and left/rightX but not up/down/Z (or when you do lift your mouse off your desk, it stops tracking). So it will allow you to move through your game but for things like kicks or vertical avatar tracking, that’s where you need the Vive trackers. Also, this might only be me, but for blade and sorcery, I couldn’t get more than two trackers to work, so without the waist tracker in that game movement was a bit off, but that might’ve been the mods I was using for that game as well.
I really want one of these, but I'm extremely concerned for my knees. This is considering it works the way I expect it- the movement method looks like it would put me in a wheel chair.
I don't have knee issues, so I can't really provide much perspective on that except, as I said, its movement feels most similar to cross country skiing or a Nordic track machine. Maybe look into the Kat Loco S, which I haven't tried.
Great video! By far the most useful review of the Kat Walk C2 out there! I do have one question: when you were talking about variable walk/run speed games, you mentioned “Pavlov and others”. Can you tell me what the “others” are? It seems to me that variable speed would be much more immersive and better for exercise as well, but I can’t find an easy way to search for games with that specific feature, and I haven’t had much experience yet. I have my kat walk c2+ together and awaiting my new gaming PC that will be here in a couple of days to get it going.
Thank you, Dave and congrats on ordering your C2! It looks like I forgot to put the link to the fan database which details types of running modes per game. I'll fix that, thanks. And yes, the variable speed games are the best type of C2 experience. Once you get your C2 up and running, please contribute what you experience to the database as well as it is fan generated and limited so far. katdb.info/
@@EndersVRcade Thanks for the quick reply! That database is exactly what I was looking for! Will save me a lot of time and frustration, and I hope to be able to contribute to it as well.
I think so if you’re going to use it regularly, don’t mind tweaking settings for different games, and don’t mind more of cross country skiing walking pattern/a sliding your forefoot/lifting your heel motion.
You can turn off the walk animation in VRChat if you're using full body tracking with the treadmill. You just have to be a little more careful to walk in a more natural way than you have to using the treadmill if you want it not to look weird to other people. I'm still trying to come up with a solution to wearing the treadmill shoes with the bhaptics feet haptics. I have bluetooth problems too sometimes. I only run two lighthouses though as four seems overkill for playing from a fixed location on the treadmill.
Thank you, Ben. I saw that option, but wasn't sure about the trade-offs of turning it off. As you said, I wonder how odd it looks without the animation walk effect. Which do you prefer? I would be interested to know if you play regularly as I'm very much a casual with that game. I really like the mounts I found for the trackers with the C2 shoes. Did you check out the link I have listed in the video description? I may try turning off a couple lighthouses, thanks for that idea!
I prefer leaving the animation off because it creates a disconnect between how my legs are moving and how I see my avatar's legs move. I set up a mirror to watch myself walk and work on how I take steps to make it not look too weird, and I think it looks ok. The biggest disadvantage for me is that people tend to run around a lot in VRChat and you can't fall back to thumbstick movement without your avatar sliding around if your automatic walk animation is turned off. It makes me very aware of how unrealistic movement is when there is no cost to it in games. Those shoe mounts look fine for trackers but I don't think they would work for the bHaptics Tactosy feet haptics.
I used Strenco 1" velcro from Amazon and it is extremely strong. The hook has actually worn down quite a bit so that I might replace it eventually, but the adhesive on the back of this velcro has been doing great for over a month of heavy use.
I’m glad to hear that you appreciated the review. I understand not wanting to make such a big purchase before testing it. I feel like the Loco S might be a way to “test the waters.” I’m hoping I get to become an affiliate for Kat VR and they send me one I can make a review of. Your channel name has piqued my interest and I will be sure to check it out!
Hey I have been watching your videos lately. Can I please ask, if I have neighbours underneath and next to me, can I still buy a katwalk c? I am asking noise wise. We have concrete walls everywhere, but people are living under and next to
Hello Daniel and thank you for watching. I live in an apartment and have neighbors too but only above me, and they don't complain. I don't play early morning or late at night and my C2+ sits on foam flooring panels with sound deadening panels above it on the ceiling. You can see my setup with my video "My Mixed Reality Workflow and VRcade Upgrades" if you haven't already which also includes a video from a Kat VR discorder who put foam under the base to reduce noise. I recommend joining the Kat VR Discord and browsing the apartments-and-noise channel to see what others who live with downstairs neighbors have to say.
@@EndersVRcade Hi again, I went through the discort thread, and it seems that even if I do both the foam underneath, and the sound isolation panels, plus the shoe cover, I still look a relatively noisy device. I have roommates and I have neighbours at the other side of the wall, below and above. I feel a bit sad. But I wanted to ask you, do you think the Virtuix Omni One treadmill will be less noisy by any chance, judging from the device? I guess not. I assume the only option is that I set this up in my workplace office and for home i buy the kat loco s…
No I haven’t tried the Omni One. I do like that it can be tilted and rolled and how it appears to have greater horizontal movement (via the flexible arm), I think its downsides out weigh those advantages. It’s much more expensive and is designed around the Pic headset it includes and is focused on being a standalone system which limits it’s game library to what Virtuix supports and (last I checked) it supports very few PCVR games. It strikes me as more of an arcade focused device than a home/consumer one. RUclipsr Nathie covers this well on his recent review to Virtuix's headquarters, so you might want to see what he thought.
Wow!!! Amazing video 👏 I wish I had this a week ago before I assembled mine, lol. I gave up screwing down many of the support feet but will now go back and fix that with some pliers. Best review of the C2 I've seen, fantastic job! I actually had mine in a box for over a month and was waiting for user reviews to come out as I was hesitant to keep it. Finally gave up on that and built it last weekend. First experience was awful... and I accidentally left the brakes on. Lol. 2nd was much better. I expect to like this more and more as I use it. The biggest detractors for me are the noise, and the feeling of being tied down. I miss being able to dodge backwards with my body! = ( Anyway, great review and info, thanks!!!!
Thank you so much Steve! Your opinion really means a lot to me as a fellow Kat Walker! Lots of early adopter challenges with this, and I was overwhelmed by a lot of it at first. I think 1-2 weeks of using it every day was when I started to get really comfortable with all the quirks of using it. As for the dodging, yeah I forget I can duck/crouch sometimes too and dethatching the seat helped me with my hesitation in that area. And remembering to flip the brake up makes it so much easier I found too lol. I have pretty much forgotten about the tied down feeling, but I also am used to wearing haptics gear. I think I spent over a day assembling it and was then too tired to play until the next day.
Oh and regarding the tied down feeling- while the VR Wire II tether helps with the G2's cable, I feel a lot less encumbered with the Quest 2 wireless when doing a ton of turns.
@@EndersVRcade I hear ya! I assembled it in chunks over two days. I didn't even try it for a couple days after that. I did notice that the seat does inhibit my ability to crouch, which is a bummer. I do miss being able to bend backwards to dodge. Not that I have a huge range anyway, but a couple of inches backwards has dodged many a blade! Like what you stated in this video or another, I decided I needed this for fitness purposes. I can have fun in VR and move my body more. I find walking in my neighborhood not so interesting as the scenery doesn't change. It's worth the little bit of bendy movement I have to give up. I'm really interested in adding haptics to the mix. I've almost purchased the X40 many times. At this point I might wait a bit longer to see the other options come to fruition. I'm certainly tempted by wireless headsets for this and my YawVR2 (when that arrives someday!). That said, I use the Pimax 8KX as my main HMD and I just can't give up that FOV! ; )
I was really excited about the 12k, and still am, but with the Portal announcement, I’m afraid they might be doing too much all at once, so I wanna wait and see for third-party reviews. However, the 12k would be my ideal headset I think. I really want that wireless with amazing field of view too. The Owo “haptic” shirt could be a lot less sweaty/cumbersome to wear too.
@@EndersVRcade Ya, I watched the Portal announcement live. It almost seemed like a gag, April Fool's. I hope they do well with it... and of course I was thinking what everyone else was - what have they gotten themselves into?? What about the 12K??? It isn't just the hardware.. all of the software ecosystems they are now committed to - yikes!! Wouldn't surprise me if the 12K is in "reality" over a year away/late.
Do you feel that Kat Walk 2 feels like actual walking in VR after you've got used to it for a month? Do you forget that you are on a tread mill and actually walking in the game? Or does it still feel more like an addon like bhaptics gear. I got the same vest and arm bhaptics thingies as you and although it's cool and all it feels more like I added haptics to a gamepad and my brain still interprets as vibrations on my body. Half the time I don't put my bhaptics gear on because although it makes things better it's not life changing enough, just trying to figure out if this is going to be the same thing.
Hi Alex. After closer to two months of using it every other day for an hour or more, I would say it still feels like a Nordic Track/Elliptical than walking normally; however, it does feel immersive as though I am walking through a game world - for the most part. Since you have bHaptics gear, you know how some aspects of wearing the gear will always break immersion (like having to adjust arm bHaptic that doesn't stay in place or say the vest feels hot and you now remember all the gear you are wearing)? Same principle applies to the C2. For example, it feels fluid walking up or down stairs so if I don't over think it (like the motion/movement feels natural vs. "I wish my feet actually raised more to climb the stairs of felt heavier) than it feels immersive enough to me. Or like how with say the arm haptics, recoil doesn't feel like gun recoil precisely but it does feel neat/forceful. Also, the C2 is going to perform better in some games than others (like having to push the run button on your controller in some games). Does that make sense?
Hey man. Can you tell me if the Kat Walk reduces motion sickness when playing games where you need to walk and go up/down stairs? I really want to play Skyrim VR but I am very sensitive to motion sickness. I'm wondering if I should buy Kat Walk C2 for that.
Hi Satisfied, this is a great question that is unfortunately hard to answer because motion sickness is so individual. I haven’t had any since I first started VR a few years ago (with exception of the rare game where I get under 40 fps), and I only have had the KatWalk for the last 6 months. Therefore I don’t want to promise it will help and have you be upset with me if it doesn’t help. However, my general understanding of motivation sickness is that is occurs due to your brain being confused because it sees movement your body doesn’t create, so it should help in theory. You might consider trying the Loco S for a LOT less money to see if that helps before investing in a full C2 as I think the effect on motion sickness is very similar. I have a three part review of it on my channel. (For PCVR like Skyrim only, you would want to watch Part 1.
So I'm about 2 months into using mine and suddenly the experience has gotten a lot worse. It has gotten much more difficult to move on the surface, as there is some resistance building up as I try to walk. Have you encountered this? My only guess is that it has to do with scratching
Do you still have the included maintenance oil and have been using it? It helps. For me I was using Velcro on my shoes and once I replace it with fresh Velcro that helped a ton.
@@EndersVRcade I have been using the maintenance oil, yeah. When you say the velcro are you talking about the removable strips? I haven't been using those, but I've noticed the non removable ones, like the larger portion at the tip of the shoes, and the one next to the wheel have been totally rubbed away so that they don't have anymore velcro texture. Wondering if that's why
@@vicapple6663 Sorry I didn't see this until now. While yes I removed all the removable velcro, I haven't touched the non-removable part by the toe and no one on the Kat VR Discord thinks that should be removed (like it would be dangerous trying to keep your balance without it stepping off the C2). I have to replace the removable velcro on the wheel frequently because it gets totally worn away - at least with the replacement velcro I have been using. The original wheel velcro was tougher I think.
Hi, I’m not sure I understand exactly what your question is. I’m guessing you’re asking if you can play without the nexus? Yes you can as long as you have a PC. For example, I don’t have the Nexus. You only need the Nexus for using the C2 without a PC. Not sure what Gunraiders is either- is it one of the free games included with the C2 via PC software? I don’t think that will work with the Nexus and a standalone VR headset (not connected to a PC) but I could be wrong. Please let me know if you meant something else and I’ll do my best to answer.
@@EndersVRcade I play with oculus quest 2 meta games only. So Kat Vr is sending me a nexus device to connect the Oculus to it. So I was wondering if all games from Meta will be available to play with this KatVR. Since GunRaiders is mostly flying to shoot I don’t think it will be there. GunRaiders is the only game I play really but is for Oculus only. Also do u know if the nexus needs an Ethernet cable!?
I looked up Gunraiders on RUclips, and I THINK it should work with the C2. Basically, if you use your quest thumb stick to move, the C2 should work just fine because it translates your foot movements to thumstick movements as for requiring ethernet, I THINK it has a port if you want to use it, but it’s not required and can use wifi (again not 100% sure because I don’t have one).
@@EndersVRcadethanks for the reply. I used a different laptop to get the gateway installed into my oculus. But now once I open it on my oculus I don’t see any game listed. My oculus games don’t show on katvr gateway window. How do u open the games n walk the games with the shoes on.!?
@veniceblair, so sorry I didn't see this until now! (I didn't get a RUclips notification like usual). I'm hoping the Gateway updates have helped since my late reply. If not, for Oculus PC store games, you need to use the Custom setting and then select the game file (executable) and after doing so in the gateway, delete the .exe at the end of the Gateway "name." I wish I could post pictures here, but I can't. Try me on Discord, and I can send you the pictures. (or email me at endersvrcade@gmail.com but I'm slower to reply to email). hello, it reassures me for the feet because I too had to take out the clamp because it would be impossible to screw them otherwise! for a product at such a price it's really not serious... received yesterday I tested half life alyx and I had to go from 1.10 to 1.5 walking speed because otherwise I had to take 10 steps to move forward... . then I tested "Hard Bullet" I don't understand I go forward it goes backward.... I have to recalibrate 10 times... and it doesn't work, you succeeded for this game? do not hesitate to tell me the settings that you have to do, thank you. And last thing I have the C2+, the seated part does not come back, I have to manually put it back in the initial position ....
Hi DragonCity, yeah getting the bolts to go in was really tough. I feel that C2 is well worth the money - as long as you use it like all exercise equipment. I have t tried HLA with it yet but there are others on the Kat Discord who use a mod called “Always Sprinting” or “Always Running” that I hear helps too but adjusting walk speed in Gateway like you said helps in other games I notice too. I haven’t tried Hard Bullet but I’ve had direction issues like that where nothing seems to fix it except a full computer restart for reasons I don’t understand. That is odd that the seat doesn’t go back up automatically as mine won’t stay down. Maybe reach out to Kat VR Support on email or Discord because I’m not sure why. Maybe a piece is missing like a spring that makes it raise up. They are good about replacing missing/broken parts they just can take awhile to get back if you are talking to their China office.
@@EndersVRcade Thank you for your answer ! :) I will check for MOD always sprinting etc.... I have just adjusted for the 3rd time the height of the strap, because I had put it at the belly... and well on that pressed on... I wanted to vomit ^^ So I adjusted it so that it goes above the pecs, for me it's perfect, it maintains me even better and it's more natural when I walk. And I can still squat. I know that you put it at the level of the belly (or a little below), but not tip top for what I could test as said before. I also tested jumping and I can do it without worrying so I touch more! :) Finally there is a "Cruised Mode", I don't know what impact it has when you walk, I tested with or without... I don't see the difference.
I heard someone else on Discord mention wearing the belt at the chest which sounded odd to me but I’ll guess I’ll have to try it. Initially I wore it higher so it was resting above my hips and that had me leaning forward a lot more and pressing on my belly more which felt bad. I guess every body type will handle it differently.
Cruise mode means you can rest your foot on the edge of the platform and it will automatically move your forward as if you are holding a thumbstick forward. I have not tried it yet because I don’t want it to take me to slack off on my work out but probably should try it soon.
Thanks for the feedback. I am finishing up another video now and being much more careful to keep the overall audio and vocal in general higher this time.
I spoke to the owner of this and unfortunately they don't really care about getting this out. I would wait or buy the omnix , The way the owner is with customer service and business I've been talking to them for several months and they're just sketchy
Cheers for the video, I still have my KS CR2+ in boxes though hope to set up sooner than later ^^; Sidenote for Pavlov, in no universe does such generous/reasonable seat space exist for airline passengers... unless outside of America where to-the-inth maximized profit is corporate religion.
Thank you Ryv! I hope you get a chance to try your C2+ soon. As for the seat in Pavlov, well I haven’t sat in a tank, but if the C2+ seat is a representative experience, American economy airline seating is generous by comparison lol.
As I apologized in the description, this was my first time mixing audio as a new RUclips creator. I wish RUclips would let me improve this video, but I can’t. I hope you have found I have learned from this and improved the audio in my newer videos. All we can do about our mistakes is learn from them, right?
Don’t like this. You can’t even kneel down or sit which i like to do a lot in VR. I guess if you like running a lot its good but i cant any other reason for this
Yes the primary reason to buy this is for walking and running, so this probably is not for you. However I do want to clear up that you can sit down using the optional flip down seat I showed, and I have been able to kneel on one knee although I wouldn’t say that sitting or kneeling is comfortable for long.
@@CleverCheetah it’s definitely not comfortable with the belt around my waist but it is possible- granted that’s at my height of 5’8 but I can do it when I need to for an in game obstacle overhead
Did you reach your goal? Another good title for exercise is Thrill of the Fight. Wishing you the best with this!
Wishing you success. Don't forget to hydrate frequently. With water, NOT soda!
Check to see if they still have a program where they will pay you for losing weight and documenting it.
That would be cool... I have received two things for all my videos with the C2, which you will see soon :)
4:48 he had a vr setup with a omni treadmill. What are you talking about Hes probably the coolest kid in school
Awesome review! Thanks for spending some time talking about how it feels to use the Kat Walk. Looking forward to some "Into the Radius" content.
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed the Into the Radius video too!
VR treadmills look super fun.
9:17 You being out of scale with the world just makes this look hilarious. Like a giant bullying a bunch of kids :D.
Content is really improving massively! Great review as it answers some of my own concerns. Thanks!
Thanks Grimm, I 'm going to try some new camera settings and video editing techniques in a video this week. I also have new lighting and a higher quality camera arriving later this week for next week's videos. Requests and feedback are greatly appreciated!
You mentioned that you got this for sanity and exercise. Can you talk about it as an exercise device?
Just ended up here after looking for reviews for this treadmill ❤ from across the Tube! Keep this type of informative content coming!
Thank you so much, Dan!
If it's of consolation, I can hear you just fine despite the background music. Also, this was exceptionally helpful, so thank you.
Thanks, Zeta and I'm glad you appreciated the video!
best vid out there, proper honest and comlpete review, you have my likes sir
much appreciated!

Can you wear the Loco S while on the treadmill? Seems like they would be a great combination... has anyone tried it?
Thanks
How do u get that footage of u walking in-game? So cool
Oh yeah, I didn’t think about using the Loco S as the software/input device at first but yes that makes sense.
Thanks Venoxium! I'll make an Into the Radius video a priority, and I would like to see how this technology improves in the future as well.
@@EndersVRcade Thanks for this video as I'm purchasing one for black Friday. I was wondering if you use a fitness tracker Why are you playing and have you noticed any weight loss since you've had the kat walk
Best review of the Katwalk
Thank you LJ!
Yes that sounds like a good description of Until You Fall. I have a video of that game on this channel.
Also, if you haven’t seen, I created a Blade & Sorcery video using the Kat Walk where I have more footage.
Is this just for immersion/fitness or does this improve motion sickness?
While I don’t get motion sickness, I’ve had a few friends over new to VR and they said they didn’t experience motion sickness with the C2. They did experience some motion sickness without it.
Thanks
How much does it help with the motion sickness of VR?
At first I wasn't sure it was significant because I had great "VR Legs," but now that I have had longer gaps between play VR play sessions due to being busy, I notice I get motion sickness for long VR gaming sessions if I don't play a game with the C2.
They've had the sprint implemented for a while already. It seems to work great.
For which game do you mean? (it works differently for each game - and for some not at all)
@@EndersVRcade All of them that support it.
Thanks, so the Nexus doesn’t automatically just work with every game I purchase for my Quest 3?
@@EndersVRcade Thank you for such a detailed response just placed my order yesterday should be here a Meadow of next month.

You should take a look at the post I made on community tab and try not to spoil the surprise for others!
@@EndersVRcade I look forward to your review especially how it compared to the Katwalk as far as how immersive it is.
@@EndersVRcade Those two references actually help alot 😆
I guess it should be fine for me then, as long as I stretch and whatnot.
Long video. Cliffs pls. Is it worth it for a vr and a fitness enthusiast?
I think so if you’re going to use it regularly, don’t mind tweaking settings for different games, and don’t mind more of cross country skiing walking pattern/a sliding your forefoot/lifting your heel motion.
I get about 1-2.5 miles a day. It can track your steps too.
Yes. More cliffs.
How did you attach the hook velcro to the bottom of the shoes without them coming off?
I used Strenco 1" velcro from Amazon and it is extremely strong. The hook has actually worn down quite a bit so that I might replace it eventually, but the adhesive on the back of this velcro has been doing great for over a month of heavy use.
Great review....Thank you so much
You are welcome and feel free to ask me any questions about it!
Thanks for the in depth review, I’m on the fence here to buy it. The walking looks so awkward

Hey
I have been watching your videos lately.
@@EndersVRcade Thank you so much for the elaborative answer! I will proceed that way
@@EndersVRcade Hi again, I went through the discort thread, and it seems that even if I do both the foam underneath, and the sound isolation panels, plus the shoe cover, I still look a relatively noisy device.
Have you used the OMNI 1?
Wow!!! Amazing video 👏
I wish I had this a week ago before I assembled mine, lol. = (
Anyway, great review and info, thanks!!!!
@@EndersVRcade Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it's "better then not having it, but could be better" :)
Great video Bro, you rock !
Thanks! I hope you are still enjoying.
HEy i just got my Kat VR c2 im waiting on the nexus box. but does work or have Gunraiders game once connected or it doesnt support it???
(or email me at endersvrcade@gmail.com but I'm slower to reply to email). still wondering how long and wide it is
All specs are listed here. Remember it’s a circle so it’s “length” is its (approximately) 50” diameter. www.maxboxvr.com/shop/product/kat-walk-c2/
hello, it reassures me for the feet because I too had to take out the clamp because it would be impossible to screw them otherwise! for a product at such a price it's really not serious... received yesterday I tested half life alyx and I had to go from 1.10 to 1.5 walking speed because otherwise I had to take 10 steps to move forward... . then I tested "Hard Bullet" I don't understand I go forward it goes backward....
I will check for MOD always sprinting etc....
I have just adjusted for the 3rd time the height of the strap, because I had put it at the belly... and well on that pressed on... I wanted to vomit ^^
So I adjusted it so that it goes above the pecs, for me it's perfect, it maintains me even better and it's more natural when I walk. And I can still squat.
I know that you put it at the level of the belly (or a little below), but not tip top for what I could test as said before.
I also tested jumping and I can do it without worrying so I touch more! :)
Finally there is a "Cruised Mode", I don't know what impact it has when you walk, I tested with or without...

Yes the primary reason to buy this is for walking and running, so this probably is not for you.
