  • 👃🏻 Fig me! This beer smells like perfume! A winter warmer that won't leave you in the cold, this beer promises fig flavours and that's what it gives you
Seasonal autumnal / winter releases offer such a grand canvas for brewers to paint their brewing picture. Sometimes that can lead to outlandish flavours and recipes. Sainsbury's themselves are pushing the boat out a little from the rest of the big supermarket chains with this contract brewed release with Hall & Woodhouse
🍂 Winter Warmer Ale is an amber ale with a strong malt base, some cinnamon and spice, and a lot of "naturally flavoured" fig (naturally artificial!) that dominates on the aroma like a Turkish delight
The flavour is delightful as well. Compared to the aroma, the fig is less roar-of-the-fire in your face and more cosy-up-cuddling under the blankets. The cinnamon and spice dance on the tongue and are carried by the carbonation to bash against the cheeks, like kids in a bouncy castle (remember those things?), ultimately resulting in a well rounded amber ale
It's not an everyday sipper, but I guess that's part of the charm
