Socom II was the absolute peak of this franchise, I was 17 years old in 2003 when I got this game, I logged thousands of hours online on this game. Now at 35 I'd still play this with 0 updates if the servers were still up. This was really the start of online console gaming for me, now of course just like everyone else I'm playing Call of Duty but for Fishhook, Foxhunt and Crossroads I'd absolutely grab a PS2 and play with what are now considered shitty graphics.
I really do believe that the respawn option destroyed the strategy in these kind of games. Socom 1 and 2 were great because you had to value your life. You can choose to go out like Rambo but once you die you gotta watch the rest of the round from the sidelines. Dying during the beginning of the round when the music was still playing was devastating. The cause of many broken controllers.
Even the janky ass controls and jumping bring back fond memories. If only they would remaster this. But keep in all of the glitches and bullshit that you hate and love at the same time.
Damn I remember the countless quick plants on this map. 13 years old sneaking down to the kitchen to make coffee so I could stay up all night playing! Lol good times
So much nostalgia watching this! By far the best shooter I ever played even if I did use the "sure shot" controller setting I played as brendanb33 for HD and miss the epic game battles matches.
I remember you could glitch into some stairs near the terrorist spawn and kill everyone while you were totally safe. It's stupid when I look back at it but even that makes me nostalgic

Bastian Schneider well are u using the xlink kai thing? do u go to the LAN instead of online on socom2 main menu? n do u have the xlink kai app running on ur PC while playin socom2? those might b the reasons why it doesnt work.

I think the first problems came with the map size of Socom 3. This game is quick tactical action on small maps. Bigger isn't always better.
