I'd lean towards Rubiel from just viewing the pictures. One thing about Jay though was that he always looked more impressive on videos comared to pictures. Only in 01 he really showed it on the pics too. Watch him work out with Phil Heath and Hany Rambot in 08, I thought Jay looked WAY more impressive. How big and wide he was just blew me away. If you are more into round muscle bellies, guys like Phil would probably be more appealing though.
yup. Platz was actually freakier tho looking back. Obviously much smaller being shorter, but it looked just as big on him, actually a ncie shape... Lastly, he had crazy freaky detail. Detail is a big part of freak factor. I had to go back to look at Platz the other day to really compare the 2 freaks lol. They would have been awesome to see them both together when platz was in his prime.
Size wise perhaps, other than that, their physiques have nothing in common. And him being compared to the best Jay Cutler and not getting his as* whooped should tell you enough about his chances.
This is the first year of competition Rubiel with pro card, itis the beginning for him!! Cutler is competing since years,so please be fair and use for comparison also beginning pictures from Cutler :-)
Why? Derek is a 5'5 ex 212 competitor. Comparing him to any version of Ronnie is a joke. Any year of Ronnie makes him look like a little kid if they were actually next to each other. The hardness and shape of early Ronnie are levels above, mamy levels. Imagine 250lb 99 Ronnie full and shredded out of mind, chest striations popping, super long legs and arms, peaky biceps, shoulders not filled with oil. It's a detailed hard vascular man vs a soft, inflated looking boy. Once they stood next to each other in the front relaxed, no one would need to see anything else. Derek has a big ribcage and width for a 5'5 dude, but Ronnie's ribcage is a different beast entirely. Larger ronnie was 280+lbs ripped and STILL detail and separation that derek doesn't have, even being 60lbs lighter. The limb length and height along with his size would just be too much to stand him next to Ronnie back in the day. His arms and legs are the same thickness, but 2x as long with more detail. He has as much muscle his lower body as Derek has in his entire body. It's just a frame size thing and with detail when they are moving and flexing.
@@paulcox2447 Firstly I did say the worst year not 99 ronnie, and secondly he's in open and beat samson which is comparable to ronnie height wise (and samson got a comparrison with 02 ronnie). They started it a few years back maybe 10? Ramy of course being the most obvious, the trend did start in the middle east. Their amateurs were well known for all having fake delts and dream tan. Now we have Hadi and Derek placing 1 and 2. They both have stubby short arms and legs, oil in their arms, oil in their shoulders, Derek even has it in his lats ffs. It's really not a good look, very unnatural. It doesn't look like muscle and they look like cartoon caricatures of bodybuilders. Especially Derek. They need to start rewarding real muscle and guys who come in dry and hard from head to toe. Conditioning doesn't just means glutes and hamstrings. That's only true if it's the last place to come in like it used to be with guys. If you aren't' detailed in most of your body, you aren't in good condition. The point of condition is to show your muscle better!
This is what's funny, I watched another channel that said this guy wouldn't be in the first call out. Well who on stage today can hang with the best version of Jay? Because this guy is holding his own in every shot and even winning at least half of them. He would have beaten Andrew at the Olympia for 5th. He's bigger with better conditioning than Andrew while still having a good flow.
Rubiel would need some absurd measurement in his arms and lats to balance out his top half with his bottom half. 25 inch guns minimum IMO (is that even possible? 😵💫).
Rubiel has those over-stuffed pillow legs. I do not understand how this is rewarded in competition. It's not that it JUST looks unaesthetic, it just looks bad to me. His overall flow just seems awkward, like a modern day Markus Rhul. Impressive, in a way, but I can't imagine him ever winning an Olympia. I felt that way about Rami too, though, so what do I know.
Ramy was very complete though, unlike Ruhl. Rubiel can win if he brings his upper body up more, he absolutely can. His skeletal proportions make him awkward in some poses, but not in all of them and his height plus thickness is basically unmatched in the ifbb right now. 20% more upper body, leave the lower body alone and he is probably beating everyone. Guys like Hadi and Derek are just going to look comically small next to him. Especially if he comes in looking "hard" and they come in with oil all over.
Simply no comparison Jay is a cut above the rest much more appealing to look at deep cut beautiful separation and shapes.
