I Paid $ 125.00 on Amazon 3 yrs ago…
Thanks for all the great reviews. It seems to get the ebike rating were stuck with mostly commuter styles. What would you recommend between the smith dispatch, lazer urbanize, or the bern hudson? I have to order online since there arent any stores in my city carrying them. Thanks in advance!
No problem. That's a good question. I'm surprised the Lazer Urbanize is still available, Lazer has been moving toward the KinetiCore design so their helmets like the Lazer Verde (this has the NTA-8776 rating) and Lazer CityZen are the replacements for this helmet. As far as picking between the Smith Dispatch / Lazer Urbanize / Bern Hudson I think it depends on what you are looking for. I like the Bern Hudson a bit more than the other helmets because of the more sporty feel and fabric bill.
That hasn't been an issue for us as the lens is offset from your face. It's far enough way that you can comfortably wear normal sunglasses underneath so there is plenty of space for ventilation.
I got mine from Backcountry. Removing the enormous sticker was a problem for me. Could not get the residue off without lighter fluid. Contacted Lazer. They are extremely responsive, but assert it must have been Backcountry that put the sticker on there, and orders direct from them and replacement windscreens do not have the sticker. Good to know. Also worth mentioning mine did not come with ear muffs from Backcountry. So Lazer good, Backcountry not so good.
Sorry to hear you had trouble with stickers. It's pretty annoying to have to take them off products. Goo-gone or other similar products make it easier to remove the residue. Also, regarding the cold weather kit - I believe Lazer has made that a separate accessory you have to buy for 2021 and moving forward.
They put the sticker on there they lied to you. I also have the sticker on mine. I have a similar experience with them since I'm I got the vent bung and the stickers but missing the earmuffs they keep claiming the winter kit is not included with the helmet and I have to buy it from them.
I see what you mean now I tried to take off my sticker today and it was a huge problem was hard to get off and left impossible to remove residue. tried to rub it out with water and smudged up the whole entire lens. I ended up using a product called Goo Gone with a soft cloth and that cleared it up. It's almost like it's a prank and we can't be the only ones who have complained about this. But yeah, they themselves put that sticker on there. I ordered mine from Amazon through their store.
@@cooloutac yeah I actually ordered a replacement lens direct from Laser because I wanted to try and tint it. Sure enough it came with the sticker. The second one was easy to remove, I think I just got lucky with the peel. I didn't have any luck tinting it though. I tried using some motorcycle lens tint, but couldn't get it on there right. I really like the helmet, but really want a tinted lens. Could have one locked in the up position, the other in the down, and just swap them as needed during the ride. Gotta take the helmet off to get my sunglasses off, which is not ideal.
@@bennyg8205 yeah I was thinking the same thing, no where to put my sunglasses when I take them off for low light.lol. Would be nice if they offered a magnetic visor too.
Most of the urban helmets with visor seem to use clear lens options. There is plenty of space between the visor and your face to wear normal sunglasses if you ride somewhere sunny.
Hi. I bought the helmet. Can you maybe answer a question for me? In the helmet is yes a black plastic part what the helmet aushült, with loud Mips aufdrucken. This remains in the helmet or comes out? Thank you. LG
So I ordered this helmet on Amazon it came with the vent bung and the stickers for the earmuffs, but it's missing the earmuffs. I contacted lazer and they keep telling me that the winter kid is not included with this helmet and I must buy it separately. Not only that I can't return it on Amazon because they have it labeled as a product that contains flammable liquids. Lazer is so dishonest I doubt they would replace the helmet if I got into an accident like they claim. I now have to file an A to Z guarantee claim to get my money back.
What was your opinion on the snapping force of the visor magnets? I don't want to worry to loose the visor during strong winds. Especially when you snap the visor on top it seems to me only a matter of time before the wind takes it away..
Good question. The magnets feel pretty secure to me so I've never had it get loose or start to slide off. You don't really have to worry about strong winds either, as they should push the visor against the helmet. The large size of the lens also means you barely feel any wind on your face - perfect for cold weather riding.
@@stijnie101 Yup. There is a magnet on each corner of the lens that holds it in place well. If you can, try it out in person as well - Lazer has a big distribution network so most of the cycling shops will be able to order it or have it in stock.
I cannot seem to find where to buy a M or L in the Matt Titanium color. If anyone knows, please advise. Also, my head runs 58-59 which is on the fence between M & L. Which would be best for me? Thank you.
You must be located out of US then right? I believe the MIPS version is the only one available in the US and it's only in the matte black that is shown. I'd recommend reaching out to Lazer's distributors (www.lazersport.com/en/distributors) who can maybe help you track one down. As far as sizing, I'd recommend trying them on in person. I'm a 58 and found the medium to be pretty comfortable, and wear a medium in all the other brands as well.
Definitely. It sits far enough from your face you can easily wear sunglasses or glasses underneath. It's a bit strange riding around without the wind on your face though!
The Urbanize helmet comes with a rear taillight - does your helmet (Lazer should be able to sell you one as well) not have it or is it not bright enough? Otherwise I think you can add an external taillight be looping it over the rear cage. Any taillight with a simple rubber mount should work like the Shanren Raz Pro.
@@TheSweetCyclists Hi Thanks for your reply. You're right, the helmet does have a tail-light. I just ordered a "Hangover" light from Outbound Lighting. They use an adhesive tape to mount their light and that'll work just great. Thanks again!
The rechargeable light uses a micro USB port (01:51). It would be nice if it was a USB Type-C but it's well integrated. I would still recommend using a taillight though - the light isn't that bright.
Depends on what temperature you're riding in and how hot you get. I'd recommend a road cycling helmet like the Lazer Cameleon which has a lot more venting for longer/warmer rides. For shorter and cooler rides the Urbanize is the better option (plus it has the panoramic lens).

I agree, the marketing terms are purposely vague. The lens is just a clear lens - you'll want to wear sunglasses underneath it if you want UV / color enhancement. It's great for protecting you from wind / debris / rain while riding as it covers most of your face.
