    Ayo! Saw the Case in the thumbnail and had to watch the video.
    I had the exact same case back in 2004 - my first "self bought" pc xD
    Was a good machine that worked 6 long years for me, good old Sempron in it :)

    Very nice retro system. With that configuration you can play almost all games from the glide era up to 2004-2005.

      Thankyou! Yes it should hopefully cover most of them 😁

    Great minds think alike! I'm currently working on a windows 98 system that is as highly clocked as I can get it for as cheaply aspossible with a driver supported PCI-E video card. and board chipset.
    Right now I'm playing with a Foxconn board with I915 chipset, a 3.2 ghz p4 and an X600 PCI-E video card with 256 mb of RAM. Even with e-bay prices I'm in it for less than $30 US all told, since I basically paid just shipping for the board and CPU since it had that early 2000's capacitor plague, and the video card was actually e-waste from a local recycler that they gave me.

      Cool, yes it's much cheaper going forward in time a bit and getting max performance for cheap😁

    I have had an idea about a dual GPU build using an LCD with both DVI/HDMI and VGA.
    Take the most modern motherboard you can with at least one PCI slot. Two is better.
    Then install whatever modern GPU in the PCI-E slot, and an old DOS/Windows 9x GPU in the PCI slot.
    Bonus if there are Windows 9x drivers for the integrated MB sound card, and if SBEMU supports it as well.
    Alternatively install a PCI sound card or a USB audio card for Windows 98SE.
    Then connect both video cards to the monitor. New gpu via DVI/HDMI and legacy via VGA.
    Then let the monitor handle the switching.
    I was hoping one could disable the legacy GPU in the new Windows, and disable the new GPU in Windows 9x.
    Yet to test this setup idea.
    To fellow commenters:
    Also, yes I know. CRT etc.
    I have those as well.
    Its just easier for most with an LCD for this setup.
    Unless there are some auto VGA switchers etc.

      Will be interesting to see how it turns out!

      Technically doable, I have such a board here. But I doubt Win 9x will understand the Z77 chipset. Not to mention that it won't boot with 16 GB RAM and has no USB 3.0 drivers.
      On the other hand my XP machine can offer DVI, HDMI and VGA, even simultaneously.
      The overlap between 9x drivers and PCIe carrying boards are incredibly limited. Basically K8 or Northwood P4, if at all.

    I think i can count like 4 bad caps on the msi board and should get a recap. Its probably unstable because of it. Got a msi k7n2 delta 2 platinum that wouldn't even boot before recap. Got the athlon xp 3200+ running at 2500 mhz on it, fully stable. And 2x 256 mb 452 mhz 2-2-2-3-6 corsair xms 3200. But this board also needed a modded bios to be stable. Not sure what gpu drivers you are using but i get best results with the modded Omega drivers. With a sapphire atlantis radeon 9800 pro 256mb ultimate edition clocked at 9800 xt speeds it gives 18600 in 3dmark 2001 se pro.

      Yes I know it has some bad caps, Idid try the omega drivers but made nit difference .

    Is there a problem with the sound? It seems to me that is quite low. Why the 4th PCI slot is orange? It have something special or is just the design?
    Merry Christmas and Happy hollydays!

      Might be my voice is just quiet. No idea about the orange slot, documents list it as just a normal pci. Happy holidays to you too! 😁

    Fx cards are best cards for win 98 , not rubish

      I don't recall rubbishing, I recall stating a fact that the ati cards are faster!

      @@66mhzbrain Yes , in SM 2.0 .Other games from that period runs like a charm on FX cards.

    • @retroftw
      @retroftw 8 месяцев назад +2

      The FX cards are not great in many ways, but they dont have to be as we can just use more modern machines for more demanding games now here in the future 😂
      The good thing about FX cards is that they are the last nVidia cards that support some legacy things that the 6000 cards dropped.
      Also the price is often lower because of their poor reputation which is great for buyers 👍

    • @draganraxrax7497
      @draganraxrax7497 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@retroftw that's what I meant, their compatibility is perfect and they have power for games up to 2003./'04 , only few games from that period of time with SM 2.0 ( Tribes 2:Vengeance, maybe FarCry ,can't remember much more ) runs better on radeon 9 series. Ge force 4 ti are great cards ,everybody loves them ,but FX has compatibility just as same and are faster (FX 5700,FX 5900/50,Fx 5600 are good )

    • @66mhzbrain
      @66mhzbrain  8 месяцев назад +1

      I have nothing against them, I have 5, they are solid for win 98 but a bit uninspiring due to their rep in the xp era though I'm thinking all of a sudden that a 9 series vs fx in win98 might be a fun project🤔
