*Derek Jeter is the only player in MLB history to start a World Series game with a first pitch home run (2000 World Series, Game 4) and end a World Series game with a walkoff home run (2001 World Series, Game 5).*

I remember watching this on TV, 9 years old. As a Flushing native I was happy as a pig in shit the Mets made it to the WS and my parents even let me stay up late to watch all the games. If I remember correctly, this was literally the first pitch of Game 4 (sorry if that's obvious). Even then I wasn't mad at Jeter, because you gotta respect talent. Except Chipper Jones...f*&% you LARRY

As a die hard life long Red Sox fan I have a ton of love for this guy. He tormented my childhood but he embodies a champion. Maybe having a guy like Tom Brady who is hated but in many ways like Jeter helps give a respect for him but Derek Jeter did everything the right way. He always stepped up when it mattered and never backed down. He never was the best player in the league but one that I think most would take over almost anyone to build a team around.
